Taufiq Qureshi (born 1962) is an Indian classical musician. He is a percussionist and a composer.
Born in Mumbai, to legendary tabla player, Ustad Alla Rakha. His eldest brother is tabla player, Ustad Zakir Hussain. He received guidance from Ghatam Vidhwan, Pandit Vikku Vinayakram.
Taufiq Quereshi started his career early. His stint with live performances began with the creation of his own world music band, ‘Surya’ way back in 1986-87. He has been featured as a performing artiste on the 2009- Grammy award winning album Global Drum Project, Remember Shakti, Masters of Percussion and Summit. He collaborates with various classical artists for fusion concerts.
A dedicated self-learner, Taufiq soon discovered his greatest asset; ‘a feel for the world of sound with all it’s intricate nuances’. This quality makes him one of the most sought after rhythm-programmers, arranger-composers and percussionists in the world of studio recordings (film background scores, T.V. serials, ad-jingles, albums, etc.).
Vijay Prakash is an Indian playback singer and film composer from Mysore, Karnataka. He has sung in Hindi films such as Blue, Yuvvraaj, Swades, Kaal, Lakshya, Matrubhoomi, Tere Naam, Cheeni Kum, Raavan and Force. He has also performed in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Marathi movies. He has also hosted the Kannada reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee Kannada and has also performed shows with Zakir Hussain.
He is also one of four singers credited for the song, "Jai Ho", which won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song. Specifically, he sang the portion with the words "Jai Ho" that takes an extended high pitch at numerous junctures of the song. The song also won a Grammy Award in the category "Best Song Written For Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media. He has also won the very prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer - Kannada for the song 'Gatiya Ilidu' from the Kannada film 'Ulidavaru Kandante.
Prakash was born in Mysore, India to Carnatic singers L. Ramasesha and Lopa Mudra Prakash, and is himself trained in Carnatic music. He attended Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE) in Mysore.
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is an Indian musical reality TV game show. It started in 1995, and as of April 2012 it had 16 seasons with 1076 episodes. The name "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" equals the five first notes (or swaras) in the Indian solfage (or sargam).
From 1999 till 2001, the show was hosted by the brothers Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan.
After that, Shaan started hosting the show. Later, the name "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" became known as the "brand name" of the series and completely changed the concept of the show to include public interaction through voting. This was first done in 2005, when the old show concept was completely scrapped and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 was introduced.
In February 2007, RealMedia - Zee TV in Dubai, produced and started airing Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Middle East - Pakistan Challenge 2007 for the Middle East and Pakistan viewers based on the original format of the show.
Zee TV Telugu has also started "Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa" in 2007 and run 2 series named "Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa Seniors" and "Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa Little Champs" and has started a new series "Sa Ri Ga Ma Pa Super Seniors" for contestants above 35 years of age.
