Ranbirraj "Raj" Kapoor (Hindi: राज कपूर, Punjabi: ਰਾਜ ਕਪੂਰ, Rāj Kapūr, 14 December 1924 – 2 June 1988), also known as The Show-Man, was an Indian film actor, producer and director of Hindi cinema. He was the winner of nine Filmfare Awards in India, and a two-time nominee for the Palme d'Or grand prize at the Cannes Film Festival for his films Awaara (1951) and Boot Polish (1954). His performance in Awaara was ranked as one of the top ten greatest performances of all time by Time magazine. His films were commercial successes that attracted worldwide audiences, particularly in Asia and Europe. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Bhushan in 1971 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1987 for his contributions towards Indian cinema.
Raj Kapoor was born in Peshawar, British India (present day Pakistan), to a Khatri family of kapoor's and Ramsarni (Rama) Devi Kapoor (née Mehra). He was the eldest of six children in the family. He was the grandson of Dewan Basheshwarnath Kapoor and great-grandson of Dewan Keshavmal Kapoor, part of the famous Kapoor family. Two of Raj's brothers are actors Shashi Kapoor (a.k.a. Balbir Raj Kapoor) and the late Shammi Kapoor (aka Shamsher Raj Kapoor); the other two died in infancy. He also had a sister named Urmila Sial.
Plot
Surinder is married to Taani but there is a huge age gap between them. There is no real romance in the marriage. Then, a dance reality show called "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" airs and Taani wants to participate but can't because her husband is not hip and happening. She has a fear of losing, and she also fears that her friends will laugh at her. Surinder overhears her problem and decides to go in for a makeover. He watches some movies and learns to dance in order to woo his young wife. Throughout the show, Taani keeps falling in love to with this new-and-improved Surinder without once realizing that he's really her husband.

Jaggannath maintains his silence after being found guilty and about to be sentenced for the murder of Roshanlal Sharma under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. It is then his brother, Rajkumar, appeals to the Judge to hear their story, and the duo recollect their lives as homeless orphans, how circumstances separate them, and both turn to a life of crime. While Rajkumar gets arrested on a number of occasions and serves time behind bars, Jaggannath is married, ostensibly lives a honest life, but is a gangster in reality. Rajkumar masquerades as Raj Kapoor, meets with heiress, Madhu Sharma, and both fall in love - much to the chagrin of her uncle - who has already arranged her marriage elsewhere. Fate will then unite the unknowing brothers, pit them against each other, and Madhu will shun Rajkumar, while Jaggannath's expectant wife will get a rude awakening when she is told about her husband's criminal background. Watch as things spiral out of control for the duo, leading to Jaggannath's arrest with the Judge about to award a death sentence.
