Investigating the Bath Salts drug epidemic causing a crisis in Miami, USA. For downloads and more information visit: http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=64313 When a man in Miami chewed off a homeless man's face earlier this year a little-known drug was blamed. This report investigates how 'bath salts' are wreaking havoc across the USA as the number of addicts grows. "It's robbed him of a life. It's taken his soul." Tiffany Russell watches footage of her 24-year-old son Skyler, a bath salts addict. Unable to help her son herself, Tiffany feels the Government have failed him by pondering for too long over what to do about the drug. "When they finally did something, it's too late for the thousands who have been affected." But it's a battle that's far more complex, explains Drug Enforcement officer Jim Burns. "New York State passed a bath salts law a year ago. No sooner had they passed it, some enterprising chemist somewhere tweaked the chemical formula. Now it's no longer the substance that was banned in the state law. So we're back to square one." SBS

Florida has more coastline than any of the other lower 48 states in the U.S. But while salt water lines Florida's beaches, the state also has immense deposits of freshwater. Some of its freshwater springs, once teeming with eel grass and other underwater vegetation, are now overrun with algae. While the algae create a picturesque green scene, the tiny organisms are stifling diversity of life in the springs. At Manatee Springs, manatees no longer have the resources necessary to make the spring their home. FWC volunteer Danielle Carter shot this video of a white bottlenose dolphin that was seen on Florida’s east coast on December 10, 2014. Researchers explained that this is a very rare sighting, but not the first of its kind. An unusual, rare dolphin like this one usually generates interest among boaters and the general public, and with this in mind we'd like to share some of NOAA Fisheries responsible dolphin viewing tips. For the list of viewing tips and more information on past rare dolphin sightings, visit: http://sero.nmfs.noaa.gov/protected_resources/outreach_and_education/documents/albino_dolphin_factsheet.pdf To report marine mammal violations such as feeding, touching, or chasing wild dolphins, please contact the NOAA Fisheries Enforcement Hotline at 1-800-853-1964 or the FWC’s Wildlife Alert hotline at 888-404-3922.
Hey TomoNewsers! We just found the perfect retirement center for you! Welcome to what’s known as “Disney World for old people”: The Villages! Florida’s wildest retirement community that’s home to some 100,000 swingin’ seniors! From a male perspective, the first great thing about The Villages is math: 10 women to every man. Booze at The Villages is cheap, and more than one grandpappy or mammy has gotten in trouble for drunk driving in the golf carts they use to get around. Ever wanted to try wife-swapping, swinging, threesomes or more? No problem! The Villages has a thriving black market in Viagra that will keep you ‘up’ all night! Pregnancy worries long behind them, these folks spend a lot of time screwing around. Just last week a 68-year-old woman was arrested for drunk public sex with a man 19 years her junior! Sure, there are a few downsides. The Villages has some of the highest rates of STD’s in the U.S., but hey, what’s a little Chlamydia among friends? Stop by the Villages in the daytime and you’ll find a death-like tranquility...but as soon as the sun sets--it’s PARTY TIME! So there you go...we just helped you figure out your retirement plans. Travel video about destination Florida in the USA. Florida is the southernmost state of the USA where, for most of the time, the sun shines truly bright - a place of excitement and joie de vivre! Miami is a magnificent holiday resort that boasts some of the finest entertainment parks in the world. The home of the rich and super rich and where both flamboyance and kitsch reign supreme. The Metro-Dade Cultural Center is situated Downtown where several Spanish-style buildings surround a large plaza that is decorated with colourful and contemporary works of art. The Florida Keys are a group of thirty one coral islands that extend from Miami on the southern point of Florida, to the Caribbean, the first and largest of which is Key Largo that was made famous by a Hollywood movie of the same name. Bonita Springs with its Everglades Wonder Gardens is situated north west of Miami close to the Gulf Of Mexico and features the animals of the Everglades. This wildlife refuge was created in 1936 and was later enlarged with botanical gardens and further animals from all over the world. On the east coast of the Florida Peninsula, Cape Canaveral juts out into the Atlantic. As far back as 1949 the ‘Rocket Trials Zone’, as it was then known, was built here, an area that has been further developed and extended to become the world famous Space Station that it is today. Today Fort Lauderdale is a popular residential area located on the south Atlantic coast where its harbour and sandy beaches are situated in front of newly built skyscrapers. The Sunshine State: an appropriate name for one of the most entertaining and yet relaxing places on Earth!
http://bookinghunter.com Miami is a city located on the Atlantic coast in southeastern Florida and the county seat of Miami-Dade County. The 42nd largest city proper in the United States, with a population of 408,568, it is the principal, central, and most populous city of the Miami metropolitan area, and the most populous metropolis in the Southeastern United States. The most important places to visit in Miami are: Ocean Drive (the yearlong party atmosphere makes Ocean Drive the most exhilarating place in the United States), Art Deco Architecture (nowhere else in the world would you find such a concentration of colorful Art Deco style buildings), Vizcaya Museum and Gardens (a national historical landmark. It is a European style villa surrounded by lush gardens), Everglades (a unique natural environment. Get close and personal with alligators. Airboat rides are highly recommended), Beaches (some of the country's best beaches are here, and clearly the most fashionable) and many more. Once a Spring Break hot spot for college students, Fort Lauderdale has gradually evolved into an upscale resort town in Florida that is full of museums, bars, restaurants, and excellent shopping. We hope you like water, because your Fort Lauderdale tour will feature beaches, ponds, and the canals that link the Everglades to the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll also see some jaw-dropping vehicles, from high-end yachts to powerful sports cars, all of them brought down by “snowbirds”: travelers from northern states staying in Florida to escape harsh winters. When you aren’t fishing from the piers, swimming at the beaches, or shopping at Las Olas Boulevard, your Fort Lauderdale sightseeing should include a trip to the various historic locations. Why not look at the King-Cromartie House, which is part of the Riverwalk Tour? While there, you’ll get a good idea of what life was like in early 20th-century Fort Lauderdale. Here’s a hint—it wasn’t all shopping. Head to Sunrise Boulevard (north of Las Olas Boulevard) to continue your Fort Lauderdale sightseeing. Along “The Strip,” you can wander around in your swimsuit and flip-flops, ducking in and out of stores and restaurants and interspersing your activities with trips to the beach to sunbathe. Don’t forget your sunscreen! Enjoy the sun and sand of Fort Lauderdale. What beach are you going to visit first? Orlando - Florida Travel Guide, Tourism, Vacation World Travel https://www.youtube.com/user/World1Tube Orlando - Florida Travel Guide http://goo.gl/uTleH8 If there was ever a city dedicated to enjoyment, then Orlando is it. Even the most cursory drive through the city will tell you one thing: there is no disguising the fact Orlando is a city built on theme parks. Lots of them. Strange to think that until 1966, though, there was precious little here in central Florida. A few roadside attractions aside, it was one man, Walt Disney, who really changed the scenery here. No matter which way you slice it, growth has spiralled thanks to a huge influx of tourists that followed the arrival of Walt Disney World Resort. Almost all of Florida's cities and resorts are based around its long coastline, naturally capitalising on the beaches or swampland national parks that attract so many international visitors. Orlando is the only real exception, a strange, idiosyncratic place in the middle of the Floridian wasteland, and coincidentally one of the most famous resort towns in the world. There are conflicting legends as to how the city of Orlando came by its name, from heroic soldiers to local cattle ranchers to a nod to Shakespeare. Whatever the case may be, some 47 million tourists a year come to see the place for themselves. From the original Magic Kingdom, which opened in 1971, the colossal Disney empire has added three more theme parks, two water parks and a host of associated developments, including hotels, shops and golf courses to make it a true 'World' resort. With Disney setting the example, SeaWorld (three theme parks) and Universal (two) have added to Orlando's reputation as the family entertainment capital of the world. Between them, they draw nearly 50 million visitors every year, and that has meant a huge growth in associated hotels, restaurants and shops, plus a host of smaller-scale attractions. However, this young city has also developed its own identity that stretches beyond the wearing of plastic mouse ears and thrill rides. There are a significant number of high-tech industries relocating here, and the downtown area is fast developing yuppie overtones. There are even ambitious plans to become a major cultural centre. Orlando is also the USA's number two convention location; the attraction for incentive activities for competing sales teams is no mystery. There has been a stab at giving the city some historic context with the promotion of 'Old Orlando', which is part of Downtown, encompassing Orange Avenue and Garland Avenue. There's also a historic district around Lake Eola, with brick streets lined with old oak trees. Some of the homes here may have been originally built by the wealthy citrus traders of the late 19th century. Having said that, the main attraction for 99% of visitors remains the theme parks, together with the likes of the nearby Kennedy Space Center. There are also some charming, retro-looking former roadside attractions such as Gatorland that have survived as lucrative sidelines to the more high-tech main attractions. And, in order to attract the all-important repeat visitors, Orlando has become adept at re-inventing itself and providing new attractions at regular intervals. ====================================== Orlando Museums, Orlando Transport, Orlando Tours, Orlando Introduction, Orlando Attractions, Orlando Hotels, Orlando Restaurants, Orlando Shopping, Orlando Nightlife, world travel video, Orlando video, Orlando, Orlando Travel guide, Orlando Tourism, Orlando Vacation, Florida, Florida travel guide, Florida tourism, Florida vacation, Florida Attractions, North America, United States of America === Orlando - Florida Travel Guide, Tourism, Vacation, Travel Tips, Attractions

Travel video about destination Miami in the United States of America. Miami is a tropical, gleaming metropolis with palm trees, beaches, Art Deco, luxury and crime. Along with Miami Beach, it is at the centre of the expanding southern region of the American State of Florida and has both a highly developed economy, as well as a flourishing tourist industry. Miami Beach is a narrow island just off the mainland and Miami and is a leisure world of the young and beautiful and of the rich and famous. In 1915, millionaire Carl Fisher had a road constructed through the island's dense and snake-invested mangrove forest, today's Lincoln Road. The aftermath of a powerful hurricane once meant a new beginning, hundreds of hotels and apartment houses were built in Art Deco Style and today, they blend well with the local lifestyle. Since the 1950s, Virginia Key has been the home of the Miami Seaquarium, a marvelous world of marine life. It soon became world famous due to the incredible performances of its marine life and part of the TV Series 'Flipper' was filmed there. The Miami region is a melting pot of immigrants from Latin America and the Caribbean, a lively metropolis on the edge of the Everglades and the Florida Keys. A unique American cocktail of glamour, flamboyance and harsh reality!

Amendment One was approved by Floridians in November with 75% of voters supporting the initiative. The measure dedicates state funds to acquire and restore Florida conservation and recreation lands. In speaking of the program Alachua County Talks host Mark Sexton said, “Pegeen Hanrahan was invaluable in helping to secure passage of this important initiative. This interview is timely because the Board of Alachua County Commissioners has made Amendment One its number one priority in the next legislative session.” For more information on Amendment One visit www.floridawaterlandlegacy.org or call (850) 629-4546. They comprise three federally recognized tribes and independent groups, most living in Oklahoma with a minority in Florida. The Seminole nation emerged in a process of ethnogenesis out of groups of Native Americans, most significantly Creek from what are now northern Muscogee. The word Seminole is a corruption of cimarrón, a Spanish term for "runaway" or "wild one". During their early decades, the Seminole became increasingly independent of other Creek groups and established their own identity. They developed a thriving trade network during the British and second Spanish periods (roughly 1767–1821). The tribe expanded considerably during this time, and was further supplemented from the late 18th century by free black people and escaped enslaved people who settled near and paid tribute to Seminole towns. The latter became known as Black Seminoles, although they kept their own Gullah culture of the Low Country. They developed the Afro-Seminole Creole language, which they spoke through the 19th century after the move to Indian Territory. Seminole culture is largely derived from that of the Creek; the most important ceremony is the Green Corn Dance; other notable traditions include use of the black drink and ritual tobacco. As the Seminole adapted to Florida environs, they developed local traditions, such as the construction of open-air, thatched-roof houses known as chickees. Historically the Seminole spoke Mikasuki and Creek, both Muskogean languages. After the United States achieved independence, its settlers increased pressure on the Seminole, leading to the Seminole Wars (1818–1858). As a result of the wars and national policy, through 1842 most Seminoles and Black Seminoles were removed to Indian Territory west of the Mississippi River. During the American Civil War, most of the Oklahoma Seminole allied with the Confederacy, after which they had to sign a new treaty with the U.S., including freedom and tribal membership for the Black Seminole. Today residents of the reservation are enrolled in the federally recognized Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, while others belong to unorganized groups. Perhaps fewer than 200 Seminoles remained in Florida, but they fostered a resurgence in traditional customs and a culture of staunch independence. In the late 19th century, the Florida Seminole re-established limited relations with the U.S. government and in 1930 received 5,000 acres (20 km2) of reservation lands. Few Seminole moved to reservations until the 1940s; they reorganized their government and received federal recognition in 1957 as the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The more traditional people near the Tamiami Trail received federal recognition as the Miccosukee Tribe in 1962. The Oklahoma and Florida Seminole filed land claim suits in the 1950s, which were combined in the government's settlement of 1976. The tribes and Traditionals took until 1990 to negotiate an agreement as to division of the settlement, a judgment trust against which members can draw for education and other benefits. The Florida Seminole founded a high-stakes bingo game on their reservation in the late 1970s, winning court challenges to initiate Indian Gaming, which many tribes have adopted to generate revenues for welfare, education and development... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everglades The Everglades are a natural region of tropical wetlands in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Florida, comprising the southern half of a large watershed. The system begins near Orlando with the Kissimmee River, which discharges into the vast but shallow Lake Okeechobee... ...The Seminole formed from mostly Creek people who had been warring to the North; they assimilated other peoples and created a new culture. After being forced from northern Florida into the Everglades during the Seminole Wars of the early 19th century, they were able to resist removal by the United States Army. The Floridan Aquifer is one of the state’s most precious natural resources. Replenished by rainfall, the Floridan Aquifer is a finite, natural reservoir that underlies all of Florida. While the Floridan Aquifer contains the highest quality freshwater available in the state, much of it is filled with salt water and is not useable as a potable water supply. The freshwater portion of the aquifer is of inestimable value to Floridians in terms of wide-spread availability and minimal treatment costs. Pumping, transportation, reverse osmosis, and desalinization are from ten to hundreds times more expensive than local groundwater pumping. Florida’s five water management districts are tasked with the wise management of the state’s groundwater resources to protect the natural environment and to provide adequate water supplies for the human economy. Unfortunately, protection of the natural environment, including, springs, rivers, lakes, and wetlands has taken a back seat to providing free groundwater to for- profit enterprises. In the process, the Floridan Aquifer has been polluted and depleted. Multiple lines of research have determined that the cost to correct these mistakes may be in the many billions of dollars. Based on past experience, it is clear that prevention/protection efforts will be much less costly than continuing to diminish our water resources. Dr. Knight, is the founder and director of the Howard T. Odum Florida Springs Institute, a 501c(3) non-profit focused on supporting science and education necessary for restoration and wise management of Florida’s artesian springs. Dr. Knight is an environmental scientist with more than 38 years of professional experience in Florida, including detailed ecological studies at more than 20 large springs. He is former adjunct professor at the University of Florida Department of Environmental Engineering and Sciences where he taught graduate-level classes on the ecology of Florida’s springs and wetlands. Dr. Knight is currently active on research and restoration efforts at the Santa Fe River springs, Kings Bay/Crystal River springs, Ichetucknee Springs, Rainbow Springs, Wakulla Springs, Homosassa Springs, Glen Springs, springs of the Lower Suwannee River, and Silver Springs. Detailed restoration plans have been prepared for these springs, and Dr. Knight is actively working with similar efforts by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the relevant water management districts. Dr. Knight is also active with a number of springs advocacy groups around north Florida that help to educate local governmental officials about groundwater supply and springs protection.

Florida State Prison (FSP), formerly known as the "Florida State Prison-East Unit" as it was originally part of Florida State Prison in Raiford, Florida (now known as Union Correctional Institution), is a correctional institution located in unincorporated Bradford County, Florida. The facility, a part of the Florida Department of Corrections, is located on State Road 16 right across the border from Union County. The institution opened in 1961, even though construction was not completed until 1968. With a maximum population of over 1,400 inmates, FSP is one of the largest prisons in the state. FSP houses one of the state's three death row cell blocks, and the state's execution chamber. Union Correctional Institution also houses male death row inmates while Lowell Annex houses female death row inmates. Lethal injection became the standard method of execution in 2000. The electric chair is only used if the condemned person requests it. FSP sits in the center of several other prisons. It is surrounded by New River Correctional Institution, New River O-Unit, FSP West Unit, and sits across the river from Union Correctional Institution. Even though Union Correctional Institution is on the same property, immediately north-west of FSP, the county line (with Union County) runs in between the two, which makes Raiford the United States Postal Service address city of Union Correctional Institution, while Starke is the USPS address city of Florida State Prison. FSP is Florida's only prison that is officially named "prison", with the other institutions being named "Correctional Institutions" (or "Correctional Facility" if it is a privately contracted prison).

WPXI 2015-03-29Florida (i/ˈflɒrɪdə/) is a state in the southeastern United States, bordered to the west by the Gulf of Mexico, to the north by Alabama and Georgia and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean. Florida is the 22nd most extensive, the 4th most populous, and the 8th most densely populated of the 50 United States. The state capital is Tallahassee, its largest city is Jacksonville, and the South Florida metropolitan area is the largest metropolitan area in the southeastern U.S.
Much of Florida is situated on a peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Straits of Florida. Its geography is marked by a coastline, by the omnipresence of water and the threat of hurricanes. Florida has the longest coastline in the contiguous United States, encompassing approximately 1,350 miles (2,170 km), and is the only state to border both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Much of the state is at or near sea level and its terrain is characterized by sedimentary soils. The climate varies from subtropical in the north to tropical in the south. Its symbolic animals like the American alligator, Florida panther and the manatee, can be found in the Everglades, one of the most famous national parks in the world.

Walk away - you came into my life and then you run away
Is there nothing I can do to try and make you stay?
I can see you in the arms of another girl
you shattered my world.
Suddenly I'm not half the woman that I used to be
All I have is memories -
You took my love
you took my love
you took my love
you took my love and left me helpless - helpless.
You took my love
you took my love
you took my love
You took my love and left me helpless - helpless.
All alone - we had it too together
now I'm all alone.
I shared a life with you and now I donY belong.
I'll have to start a new life on my own
but I'm not that strong.
Suddenly I'm not half the woman that I used to be
Now all I have to hold on to is memories.
I just cannot imagine there is treachery
all I have is memories.
