Sam Phillips: Are you wearin' mascara, son?
Elvis Presley: You can move, Baby.::Ann-Margret: You can sing, Baby.
'Colonel' Tom Parker: [to Elvis] You're starting to look like a kettle of crap, son.
Elvis Presley: Listen to this. This is how God works. [reading] I may be expressing myself through these beautiful symphonies of light, color, and language that manifests itself as music. But they will hail you as one of the great ones of the day, and think of you as a wonderful preacher, and teacher.::Red West: Huh?::Elvis Presley: Don't you get it? Ever since Mamma died I've been asking myself these questions. Why'd God take her away from me? Why am I not happy when he gave me all this success and fame? Why, out of all the millions, did he pick me to be Elvis Presley?::Lamar Fike: Don't we make you happy?::Elvis Presley: No, Lamar, you don't. None of this does. Oh, you guys have to read these books.::Gene Smith: Hey, if it ain't got Batman in it, it ain't in my library.::Red West: Or naked women.::Elvis Presley: To hell with the lot of you.
'Colonel' Tom Parker: Let's face it, son. The records aren't doing what they used to and the movie aren't doing much better.::Elvis Presley: That's probably because of all this material you keep shovin' down my throat, Colonel. Hell, you can't polish a turd.
Vernon Presley: Elvis?::Elvis Presley: What? And why are you lookin' at me like that? Do I have a zit or something?::Vernon Presley: It's the pills, E. I'm worried about your health. I just wanna help.::Elvis Presley: [shouting] I don't need no advice from the likes of you! You work for me, that's all.::Vernon Presley: I'm your daddy!::Elvis Presley: And I'm of age, old man! I don't need a daddy any more!
Elvis Presley: [after a song] So, how was it?::Priscilla Presley: I liked it, it was really sweet. I prefer the fast ones, though, like Jailhouse Rock. Why don't you do more of those?::Elvis Presley: [shouting] Dammit, I didn't ask you to tell me how to sing! I just asked if you liked it! I get enough amateur opinions, I don't need one from you! [softly, after a pause] Come here, Sattnin.::Priscilla Presley: No...::Elvis Presley: Come on. I'm sorry, I just finished that session and I'm real proud of it. Better than the hogwash they give me to sing in those movies. [angrily] Stupid movies, stupid songs! But I shouldn't have yelled. I'm sorry.
Elvis Presley: [last Lines] Guess what Steve? I'm touring Vegas.

Fresno Bee 2015-02-06Chester Burton Atkins (June 20, 1924 – June 30, 2001), known as Chet Atkins, was an American guitarist and record producer who, along with Owen Bradley, created the smoother country music style known as the Nashville sound, which expanded country's appeal to adult pop music fans as well.
Atkins's picking style, inspired by Merle Travis, Django Reinhardt, George Barnes and Les Paul, brought him admirers within and outside the country scene, both in the United States and internationally. Atkins produced records for The Browns, Porter Wagoner, Norma Jean, Dolly Parton, Dottie West, Perry Como, Elvis Presley, the Everly Brothers, Eddy Arnold, Don Gibson, Jim Reeves, Jerry Reed, Skeeter Davis, Waylon Jennings and many others.
Among many honors, Atkins received 14 Grammy Awards as well as the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, nine Country Music Association Instrumentalist of the Year awards, and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
Mark Freuder Knopfler, OBE (born 12 August 1949) is a Scottish-born British guitarist, singer, songwriter, record producer and film score composer. He is best known as the lead guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter for the British rock band Dire Straits, which he co-founded in 1977. After Dire Straits disbanded in 1995, Knopfler went on to record and produce six solo albums, including Golden Heart (1996), Sailing to Philadelphia (2000), and Get Lucky (2009). He has composed and produced film scores for eight films, including Local Hero (1983), Cal (1984), and The Princess Bride (1987). In addition to his work with Dire Straits and as a solo artist and composer, Knopfler has recorded and performed with many prominent musical artists, including Phil Lynott, Chet Atkins, The Chieftains, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Jools Holland, Sonny Landreth, and Van Morrison. He has produced albums for Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, and Randy Newman.
Knopfler is one of the most respected fingerstyle guitarists of the modern rock era, and was ranked 27th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Knopfler and Dire Straits have sold in excess of 120 million albums to date. A four-time Grammy Award winner, Knopfler is the recipient of the Edison Award and the Steiger Award, and holds three honorary doctorate degrees in music from universities in the United Kingdom.
Lester William Polsfuss (June 9, 1915 – August 13, 2009)—known as Les Paul—was an American jazz and country guitarist, songwriter and inventor. He was the inventor of the solid-body electric guitar which made the sound of rock and roll possible. He is credited with many recording innovations. Although he was not the first to use the technique, his early experiments with overdubbing (also known as sound on sound),delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects and multitrack recording were among the first to attract widespread attention.
His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many guitarists of the present day. He recorded with his wife Mary Ford in the 1950s, and they sold millions of records.
Among his many honors, Paul is one of a handful of artists with a permanent, stand-alone exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is prominently named by the music museum on its website as an "architect" and a "key inductee" along with Sam Phillips and Alan Freed.
Well my fever is running high
and I'm suffering with a cold
and I'll soon be walking on the streets of gold
and I'll ask ya boy, don't you monkey round my widder
when I gone
If you monkey round my widder I'm telling you the fact
my big white ghost will come sneeking back
and I'll haunt you boy
If you monkey round my widder when I'm gone
My honey has told me over and over again
there will be no more sparking after I check in
I'll ask you boy? Don't ya monkey round my widder
when I'm gone
If you monkey round my widder I'm telling you true
some dark night I'll scare the hell out of you
I'll hant ya boy if you monkey round my widder
when I'm gone
Inst.
Oh her cooking is good and her loving is fine
but when I leave this world she'll still be mine
and I'll ask ya boy not to monkey round my widder when
I'm gone
If you monkey round my widder I'm telling you the fact
my big white ghost will come sneeking back
and I'll haunt you boy
If you monkey round my widder when I'm gone
I'll soon be leaving this world of sin
one pretty woman with a lot of you men
I'm telling you boy,, don't ya monkey round my widder
when I'm gone
If you monkey round my widder I'm telling you the fact
my big white ghost will come sneeking back
and I'll haunt you boy
If you monkey round my widder when I'm gone
I'll haunt you boy
If you monkey round my widder when I'm gone
Mel Bay, in Your mannual, you tought us how to hold the
pick,
you've got to hold it in this manner, to play them
fancy licks.
Now we're happily strummin' along and you ought to hear
us play,
and I guess we owe it all to you, thanks a lot Mel Bay.
Mel Bay, Mel Bay, we just want to say:
we wouldn't know what we're doing
if you hadn't shown the way.
Mel Bay, Mela Bay, everytime we play,
we always think of you
and hope you have a nice day.
(Beginner Guitar Solo)
On page 21 you showed is how to play a G,
on page 22 you tought us how to play a D,
but loadee o loadee, we've never learned to play an E
becaouse someone in the outhouse stole page 23.
Im going down to Hoover's and I buy me an ukulele
I learned to play those pearly shells an' an Ukulele
Lady
I've just bought your book Mel Bay on how to play the
fiddle,
I can play on that (hatch)?? string and those two in
the middle.
(Beginner Fiddle Solo)
Mel Bay, Mel Bay, we just want to say:
we wouldn't know what we're doing
if you hadn't shown the way.
Mel Bay, Mela Bay, everytime we play,
we always think of you
and hope you have a nice day.
We're available for advances, that wouldn't be a task,
and we're ready to sign autographs, if anyone should
ask.
You know we're getting better than we ever thought we
could,
please send us another book and we'll play twice as
good!!
Mel Bay, Mel Bay, we just want to say:
we wouldn't know what we're doing
if you hadn't shown the way.
Mel Bay, Mela Bay, everytime we play,
we always think of you
and hope you have a nice day.
I'm almost sorry now I caught you messin' round,
You packed up your pickup and boogied out of town;
Well, darlin', I thought you'd like to know,
That I still write your name in the snow.
When the snowflakes fall, I always see
The happy you and me that used to be.
And when the snow has covered all the ground,
I hear your name, and have to write it down.
Well, do you think of me when you're feelin' low,
And wish you could write my name in the snow?
Once I had an inklin' that you'd come back again;
I see now that I was just tinklin' in the wind.
You hurt me more than you will ever know,
But I still write your name in the snow.
When the snowflakes fall, I'll always see
The happy you and me that used to be.
I write your name as pretty as can be,
But it's hard to dot the "i" and cross the "t."
Do you think of me when you're feelin' low,
And wish you could write my name in the snow?
Sonofagun, I'm tired of livin' this way,
I'm mighty down. (last line unclear)
Wish that I was on ole Rocky Top down in the Tennessee
hills
Ain't no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top ain't no telephone
bills
Once I had a girl on Rocky Top half bear other half cat
Wild as a mink but sweet as soda pop I still dream
about that
[Chorus]
Rocky Top you'll always be home sweet home to me
Good ole Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top
Tennessee
Once 2 strangers climbed ole Rocky Top looking for a
moonshine still
Strangers ain't come down from Rocky Top reckon they
never will
Corn don't grow at all on Rocky Top ground's too rocky
by far
That's why all the folks on Rocky Top drink their corn
from a jar
[Chorus]
Rocky Top you'll always be home sweet home to me
Good ole Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top
Tennessee
I've had years of cramped up city life trapped like a
duck in a pen
All I know is it's a pity life can't be simple again
[Chorus]
Rocky Top you'll always be home sweet home to me
Good ole Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top
Tennessee
I give her all my love
That's all I do
And if you saw my love
You'd love her too
I love her
She gives me everything
And tenderly
The kiss my lover brings
She brings to me
And I love her
A love like ours
Could never die
As long as I
Have you near me
Bright are the stars that shine
Dark is the sky
I know this love of mine
Will never die
And I love her
Bright are the stars that shine
Dark is the sky
I know this love of mine
Will never die
Michelle, ma belle.
These are words that go together well, my Michelle.
Michelle, ma belle.
Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble, tres bien
ensemble.
I love you, I love you, I love you. That's all I want
to say.
Until I find a way, I will say the only words I know
that you'll understand.
Michelle, ma belle.
Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble, tres bien
ensemble.
I need you, I need you, I need you. I need to make you
see,
oh, what you mean to me. Until I do I'm hoping you will
know what I mean.
I love you.
I want you, I want you, I want you. I think you know by
now.
I'll get to you somehow. Until I do I'm telling you so
you'll understand.
Michelle, ma belle.
Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble, tres bien
ensemble.
I will say the only words I know, that you'll
There'll be a change in the weather
And a change in the scene
How is that?
I'm gonna start wearin' leather
And change my routine
I'll wear dark glasses maybe a toupee
I'll get down and boogie and become risqué
I'll start wearin' make-up like Jackson and Prince
You'll see me ridin' in my Mercedes Benz
Nobody wants you when you just play guitar
There'll be some changes made tomorrow
There'll be some changes made
Y'know Chet, you're never gonna get
To play that rock & roll
Why is that?
You're kinda country, a little bit old?
That hurts
But your money for nothin'
And your chicks for free
Well, them groupie girls
Ain't what they're cracked up to be
Well, not all of them anyway
Well, I'd really like to find out
For myself, don't you know
I've had a kind of quiet life
Down here on music row
Oh, I know
Well uh? like a man, what do you think?
Man, I don't know
I really think that I can make the grade
Daddy-o, Daddy-o
There'll be some changes made
I think I was sharp there
Just play one, just play
Yeah
You've played before
Watch it, watch it
Stand back boy
Well, I'd really like to find out for myself
Don't you know, 'cause
Like I said I've had a sheltered life
Down here on music row
I don't believe so
Well, what? What do you think Mark?
I don't know
I really think that I can make the grade
There'll be some changes
Now listen to this
I'm gonna play some rock and roll
There'll be some changes made, yeah
There'll be some changes made
Now let's all play
Anybody hurt?
I learned this at summer Bible school
Well, I never could trust a saint
I'm only a part-time saint
Pretty good but you're no Mark Knopfler
What about that one there?
Not all that bad
I like that
I like that
Don't make me look bad now
Don't make me look bad
Respect for your elders
After you've gone, and left me cryin'.
After you've gone, there's no denyin',
You'll feel blue, you'll feel sad.
You'll miss the dearest pal you
ever had.
There'll come a time, now don't forget it.
There'll come a time, when you'll
regret it.
Someday, when you grow lonely,
Your heart will break like mine,
And you'll want me only.
After you've gone,
After you've gone away.
Interlude:
After I'm gone, after we break up.
After I'm gone, you're gonna wake up.
You will find that you were blind,
To let somebody come and change your
mind.
After the years we've been together,
Through joy and tears, all kinds of
weather,
Someday, blue and downhearted,
You'll long to be with me,
Right back were you started.
Poverty Stricken But Still I'm A-Stickin' To The Things I
Know To Be Facts
One Day It's Feathers And The Next Day Chicken While I'm
Pickin' My Yakety Axe
Ev'rybody Says That I Never Will Get Far, Keepin' Out Of
Work By Pickin' This Guitar
Livin' On A Shoe-String, Puttin' Off Things Like A Shave
And A Hair Cut
Money Don't Matter As Long As I Scatter A Little Bit Of
Happiness Around
If People Keep A Grinnin' I Figure I'm A Winnin' My Good
Old Yakety Sound
City Folks Go Around Turnin' Up Their Noses And Countin'
Their Greenbacks And Smellin' Their Roses
But I Wouldn't Trade My Yakety Axe, Even For A T-Bone
I'm Confessin' I Never Took A Lesson, All My Notes Are A
Matter Of Guessin'
Hopin' They'll Come Out In Some Kinda Of Manner That'll
Make The Yakety Sound
So If You're In The Mood And Your Feet Start Tappin'
And You Feel Laid Back And Your Hands Start Clappin'
Then I'll Have Done What I Wanted To From Way Back
You're Diggin' My Yakety Axe
Song sung blue
Everybody knows one
Song sung blue
Every garden grows one
Me and you are subject to
the blues now and then
But when you take the
blues and make a song
You sing them out again
Sing them out again
Song sung blue
Weeping like a willow
Song sung blue
Sleeping on my pillow
Funny thing, but you can
sing it with a cry in
your voice
And before you know,
start to feeling good
You simply got no choice
Song sung blue
Everybody knows one
Song sung blue
Now it's been something seeing you again
And in this time we've had to spend
You've been so good to be around
I thank you for that special thrill
Keep me going on until
The next time I'm in town
Though I won't be back here for a while
Or hear your laughter, see you smile
And I'll remember what went down
I can't tell you how or when
But I'll be seeing you again
The next time I'm in town
Now the places and the faces range
'Cross the bridge of time and change
Once again I'm homeward bound
There's one thing I promise you
That's another rendezvous
The next time I'm in town
Now it's been something seeing you again
And in this time we've had to spend
You've been so good to be around
And I thank you for that special thrill
Keep me goin' on until
The next time I'm in town
It's been something seeing you again
In this time we've had to spend
You've been so good to be around
And I thank you for that special thrill
Keep me goin' on until
The next time I'm in town
It's been something seeing you again
And in this time we've had to spend
You've been so good to be around
And I thank you for that special thrill
Keep me goin' on until
The next time I'm in town
'Til the next time I'm in town
Lady Madonna, children at your feet
Wonder how you manage to make ends meet
Who find the money when you pay the rent
Did you think that money was heaven sent
Friday night arrives without a suitcase
Sunday morning creeping like a nun
Monday's child has learned to tie his bootlegs
See how they run
Lady Madonna, baby at your breast
Wonders how you manage to feed the rest
Pa pa pa pa,
See how they run
Lady Madonna lying on the bed
Listen to the music playing in your head
Tuesday afternoon is never ending
Wednesday morning papers didn't come
Thursday night you stocking needed mending
See how they run
Lady Madonna, children at your feet
See that train coming round the bend
Carrying the one that I love
Her beautiful body is still here on earth
But her soul has been called up above.
Body and soul, body and soul,
That's how she loved me, with body and soul.
Her beautiful hair was the purest of gold,
Her eyes were as blue as the sea,
Her lips were the color of summer's red rose,
And she promised she would always love me.
Tomorrow as the sun sinks low
The shadows will cover her face
As her last sun goes down, she's laid beneath the ground
"Green, Green Grass Of Home"
The old home town looks the same,
As I step down from the train,
And there to meet me is my mama and my papa.
Down the road I look, and there comes Mary,
Hair of gold and lips like cherries.
It's good to touch the green, green grass of home.
The old house is still standing,
Though the paint is cracked and dry,
And there's the old oak tree that I used to play on.
Down the lane I walk with my sweet Mary,
Hair of gold and lips like cherries.
It's good to touch the green, green grass of home.
Yes, they'll all come to see me,
Arms reaching, smiling sweetly.
It's good to touch the green, green grass of home.
Then I awake and look around me,
At the four gray walls that surround me,
And I realize that I was only dreaming.
For there's a guard, and there's a sad old padre,
Arm in arm, we'll walk at daybreak.
Again, I'll touch the green, green grass of home.
Yes, they'll all come to see me
In the shade of the old oak tree,
Don't worry I'm not looking at you
Gorgeous and dressed in blue
Don't worry I'm not looking at you
Gorgeous and dressed in blue
I know it drives you crazy
When I pretend you don't exist
When I'd like to lean in close
And run my hands against your lips
Though we haven't even spoken
Still I sense there's a rapport
So whisper me your number
I'll call you up at home
Whisper me your number
I'll call you up at home
Don't worry I'm not looking at you
Don't worry I'm not looking at you
Gorgeous and dressed in blue
Don't worry I'm not looking at you
I know you see me see you
As you see me walk on past
When there's nothing more I'd like to do
Then come in close and hear you laugh
Though we haven't even spoken
Still I sense there's a rapport
So whisper me your number
I'll call you up at home
Yea whisper me your number
I'll call you up at home
Whisper me your number
I'll call you up at home
Hmm whisper me your number
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus lay down His sweet head
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay
Oh, sometimes I go walking
Through fields where we walked
Long ago in the sweet used to be
And the flowers still grow,
But they dont smell as sweet
As they did when you picked them for me
And when I think of you
And the love we once knew
How I wish we could go back in time
Do you ever think back
on old memories like that
Or do I ever cross your mind?
Oh, how often I wish
That again I could kiss
Your sweet lips
Like I did long ago
And how often I long
For those two loving arms
That once held me so gentle and close
And when I think of you
And the love we once knew
How I wish we could go back in time
Do you ever think back
on old memories like that
Or do I ever cross your mind?
When old memories appear
My eyes won't stay clear
When I think
At all those happy times
Do you ever recaal
These old memories at all
When I was young, my Dad would say
Come on Son let's go out and play
Sometimes it seems like yesterday
And I'd climb up the closet shelf
When I was all by my-self
Grab his hat and fix the brim
Pretending I was him
No matter how hard I try
No matter how many tears I cry
No matter how many years go by
I still can't say good-bye
He always took care of Mom and me.
He always had some time for me
Wind blows through the trees
Street lights, they still shine bright
Most things are the same
but I miss my Dad to-night
I walked by a Salvation Army store Saw a hat like my
daddy wore
Tried it on when I walked in
Still trying to be like him
No matter how hard I try
No matter how many years go by
No matter how many tears I cry
You see this guy, this guy's in love with you
Yes I'm in love who looks at you the way I do
When you smile I can tell it know each other very well
How can I show you I'm glad I got to know you 'cause
I've heard some talk they say you think I'm fine
This guy's in love and what I'd do to make you mine
Tell me now is it so don't let me be the last to know
My hands are shakin' don't let my heart keep breaking
'cause
I need your love, I want your love
Say you're in love and you'll be my guy, if not I'll just
Tell me now is it so don't let me be the last to know
My hands are shakin' don't let my heart keep breaking
'cause
I need your love, I want your love
Say you're in love and you'll be my girl, if not I'll
Heaven, I'm in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek
Heaven, I'm in heaven
And the cares that hung around me through the week
Seem to vanish like a gambler's lucky streak
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek
Oh I love to climb a mountain
And to reach the highest peak
But it doesn't thrill me half as much
As dancing cheek to cheek
Oh I love to go out fishing
In a river or a creek
But I don't enjoy it half as much
As dancing cheek to cheek
Dance with me, I want my arms about you
The charm about you
Will carry me through
To heaven, I'm in heaven
And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek
(Repeat *)
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
'Round yon virgin mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
mel bay in your manual you taught us how to hold a pick
you got to hold it in this manner in order to play like this
now w'ere happily strummin and you ought to hear us play
we owe it all to you Mel Bay
Mel Bay everytime we play we always thinking of you
and hope you have a nice day
were available for dances and ready to sign aoutographs
if anyone should ask
we're better than we ever thought we could
Sweet dreams of you
Every night, I go through
Why can't I forget you, and start my life anew --
Instead of having sweet dreams about you?
You don't love me, it's plain
I should know I'll never wear your ring
I should hate you, the whole night through
Instead of having sweet dreams about you
Sweet dreams of you
Things I know can't come true
Why can't I forget the past; start loving someone new --
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
Tennessee
Rocky Top Tennessee
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
'Round yon virgin mother and child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus lay down His sweet head
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay
After you've gone and left me cryin'
After you've gone there's no denyin'
You'll feel blue, you'll feel sad
You'll miss the best friend that you've ever had
There'll come a time, now don't forget it
There'll come a time when you'll regret it
Someday when you are lonely
Your heart will break like mine and you'll want me only
After you've gone, after you've gone away
After you've gone
After you've gone away
After you've gone
After you've gone away
Oh my look what your doing
The way your treating me is going to be your ruin
After you've gone
After your've gone away
Some day when your down hearted
You'll want to be with me right back where we started
After you've gone
After you've gone away

Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger
Where's that tiger? Where's that tiger?
Here's that tiger
Where's that tiger? Here's that tiger
Where's that tiger? There's that tiger
Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger
Where's that tiger? Where's that tiger?
Here's that tiger
Where's that tiger? Here's that tiger

You ought to see deacon Jones
When he rattles the bones,
Old parson Brown foolin' 'roun like a clown,
Aunt Jemima who is past eighty three,
Shoutin' "I'm full o' pep!
Watch yo' step!, watch yo' step!
One legged Joe danced aroun' on his toe,
Threw away his crutch and hollered, "let 'er go!"
Oh, honey, hail! hail! the gang's all here
For an Alabama jubilee
Mandolins, violins,
Hear the darkies tunin' up, the fun begins,
Come this way, don't delay,
Better hurry, honey dear, or you'll be missin'
Music sweet, rag-time treat,
Goes right to your head and trickles to your feet,
It's a reminder, a memory finder
Of nights down in old Alabam'.
Hear that flute, it's a beaut,
And the tunes it's tootin', tootsie, ain't they cute?
Let's begin, it's a sin,
To be missin' all this syncopated music!
Oh, you Jane, once again
Give your legs some exercise to that refrain,
Boy, that's what makes me so dreamy and takes me
Back home to my old Alabam'.
Starry, starry night, paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills, sketch the trees and daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land
Now I understand, what you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free they would not
listen
They did not know how, perhaps they'll listen now
Starry, starry night, flaming flowers that brightly
blaze
Swirling clouds and violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of China blue
Colors changing hue, morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artists' loving hand
Now I understand, what you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free, they would not
listen
They did not know how, perhaps they'll listen now
For they could not love you, but still your love was
true
And when no hope was left inside on that starry, starry
night
You took your life as lovers often do, but I could have
told you Vincent
This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you
Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn of bloody rose
Like crushed and broken on the virgin snow
Now I think I know, what you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free, they would not
listen
They're not listening still, perhaps they never will
Baby I see this world has made you sad
Some people can be bad
The things they do, the things they say
But baby I'll wipe away those bitter tears
I'll chase away those restless fears
That turn your blue skies into grey
Why worry, there should be laughter after the pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now
Baby when I get down I turn to you
And you make sense of what I do
I know it isn't hard to say
But baby just when this world seems mean and cold
Our love comes shining red and gold
And all the rest is by the way
Why worry, there should be laughter after pain
There should be sunsh ine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now
Mister Sandman, bring me a dream
Make it the cutest that I've ever seen
Give her two lips like roses in clover
Then tell her that my lonesome nights are over
Mister Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mister Sandman, bring me a dream
Mister Sandman, bring me a dream
Make it the cutest that I've ever seen
Give her the word that I'm not a rover
Then tell her that my lonesome nights are over
Mister Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
Please turn on your magic beam
Mister Sandman, bring me a dream
Mister Sandman, bring us a dream
Give her a pair of eyes with a congeal of gleam
Give her a lonely heart like Harlehatschi
And not so wavy hair like Liberatschi
Mister Sandman, someone to hold
Would be so peachy before we're to old
So please turn on your magic bean
Mister Sandman, brings us
Please, please, please
Mister Sandman, bring us a dream
Yeah...
You know, every time I look in the mirror I see my Dad
I think that's why this song means so much to me
When I was young
My dad would say
"C'mon son, let's go out and play"
Sometimes it seems like yesterday
And I'd climb up the closet shelf
When I was all by myself
Grab his hat and fix the brim
Pretending I was him
No matter, how hard I try
No matter, how many tears I cry
No matter, how many years go by
I still can't say goodbye
He always took care
Of Mom and me
We all cut down a Christmas tree
He always had some time for me
Wind blows through the trees
Street lights, they still shine bright
Most things are the same
But I miss my dad tonight
I walked by a Salvation Army store
Saw a hat like my daddy wore
Tried it on when I walked in
Still trying to be like him
No matter, how hard I try
No matter, how many years go by
No matter, how many tears I cry
If I Could See You Just One Time
Oh How It'd Ease My Troubled Mind
If I Could Hold You Just One Time
And Then Pretend That You're Still Mine
Oh, How I Miss You So
Oh I Need You So
I'd Give This Heart Of Mine
If I Could See You Just One Time
Lips That Used To Thrill Me So
They Now Thrill Someone Else I Know
Gone Is The Love That Once Was Mine
Wish I Could See You Just One Time
Oh, How I Miss You So
Oh I Need You So
I'd Give This Heart Of Mine
If I Could See You Just One Time
Wish I Could Relive Just One Time
Turn Back The Pages And There I'd Find
That Same Old Love That Once Was Mine
Wish I Could See You Just One Time
Oh, How I Miss You So
Oh I Need You So
I'd Give This Heart Of Mine
Baby, I see this world has made you sad
Some people can be bad
The things they do, the things they say
But, baby, I'll wipe away those bitter tears
I'll chase away those restless fears
That turn your blue skies into gray
Why worry?
There should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So, why worry, now? Why worry, now?
Baby, when I get down I turn to you
And you make sense of what I do
And, no, it isn't hard to say
But, baby, just when this world
Seems mean and cold
Our love comes shining red and gold
And all the rest is by the way
Why worry?
There should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry, now? Why worry, now?
Why worry?
There should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry, now?
There should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry, now? Why worry, now?
Why worry? Why worry, now?
Why worry? Why worry, now?
Why worry? Why worry, now?
When day is done
and shadows fall
I dream of you!
When day is done
I think of all
the joys we knew!
That yearning, returning,
to hold you in my arms,
won't go love, I know love,
without you, night has lost it's charms!
When day is done
and grass is wet
with twilight's dew,
my lonely heart is sinking
with the sun!
Although I miss your tender kiss
the whole day through,
I miss you most of all
when day is done!
Although I miss your tender kiss
the whole day through,
I miss you most of all
Where you been Johnny?
What you been doin'?
I'm just fiddlin' round
I played this guitar till my folks were sick of it
I played this old harp 'til my mouth looka funny
It aint no fiddle but it sure makes more money
Do I want you? Yes I do
Do I need you? Baby you know it's true
But I ain't got nothin' that you can use
So I'm sittin' on my own here, with these poor boy blues
One day, baby, you will see
You're gonna give all your love to me
I'm the one, babe, that you're gonna choose
But in the meantime, I got these poor boy blues
Pick it son, pick it nice
Things won't always be the same
Someday soon, everything will change
You'll tell your mama her baby's got good news
But until then, well, I got these poor boy blues
Starry, starry night, paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills, sketch the trees and daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land

I'll be so blue just thinking about you
Decorations of red on a grI'll have a blue Christmas
without youeen Christmas tree
Won't be the same dear, if you're not here with me
And when those blue snowflakes start falling
That's when those blue memories start calling
You'll be doin' all right, with your Christmas of white
But I'll have a blue, blue blue blue Christmas
You'll be doin' all right, with your Christmas of white
Now it's been something seeing you again
In this time we've had to spend
You've been so good to be around
I thank you for that special thrill
Keep me going on until
The next time I'm in town
Though I won't be back here for a while
Or hear your laughter, see you smile
And I'll remember what went down
I can't tell you how or when
But I'll be seeing you again
The next time I'm in town
Now the places and the faces range
'Cross the bridge of time and change
Once again I'm homeward bound
There's one thing I promise you

'Til the next time I'm in town
I'm almost sorry now I caught you messin' round,
You packed up your pickup and boogied out of town;
Once I had an inklin' that you'd come back again;
Sonofagun, I'm tired of livin' this way,
Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger
Where's that tiger? Where's that tiger?
Here's that tiger
Where's that tiger? Here's that tiger
Where's that tiger? There's that tiger
Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger, hold that tiger
Hold that tiger
Where's that tiger? Where's that tiger?
Here's that tiger
Where's that tiger? Here's that tiger
Where's that tiger? There's that tiger
I've got some good news, honey
An invitation to the Darktown Ball
It's a very swell affair
All the "high-browns" will be there
I'll wear my high silk hat and frock tail coat
You wear your Paris gown and your new silk shawl
There ain't no doubt about it babe
We'll be the best dressed in the hallI'll be down to get you in a taxi, honey
You better be ready about half past eight
Now dearie, don't be late
I want to be there when the band starts playing
Remember when we get there, honey
The two-steps I'm goin' to have 'em all
Goin' to dance out both my shoes
When they play the "Jelly Roll Blues"
Tomorrow night, at the Darktown Strutter's Ball
We'll meet our hightoned neighbors
An exhibition of the "Baby Dolls"
And each one will do their best
Just to outclass the rest
And there'll be dancers from ev'ry foreign land
The classic, buck and wing, and the wooden clog
We'll win that fifty dollar prize
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Suddenly I'm not half the man I used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh, yesterday came suddenly
Why she had to go
I don't know, she wouldn't say
I said something wrong
Now I long for yesterday
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh, I believe in yesterday
Why'd she have to go?
I don't know, she wouldn't say
I said something wrong
Now I long for yesterday
Yesterday love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Michelle, ma belle.
These are words that go together well, my Michelle.
Michelle, ma belle.
Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble, tres bien
ensemble.
I love you, I love you, I love you. That's all I want
to say.
Until I find a way, I will say the only words I know
that you'll understand.
Michelle, ma belle.
Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble, tres bien
ensemble.
I need you, I need you, I need you. I need to make you
see,
oh, what you mean to me. Until I do I'm hoping you will
know what I mean.
I love you.
I want you, I want you, I want you. I think you know by
now.
I'll get to you somehow. Until I do I'm telling you so
you'll understand.
Michelle, ma belle.
Sont les mots qui vont tres bien ensemble, tres bien
ensemble.
I will say the only words I know, that you'll
understand, my Michelle.
See that train coming round the bend
Carrying the one that I love
Her beautiful body is still here on earth
But her soul has been called up above.
Body and soul, body and soul,
That's how she loved me, with body and soul.
Her beautiful hair was the purest of gold,
Her eyes were as blue as the sea,
Her lips were the color of summer's red rose,
And she promised she would always love me.
Tomorrow as the sun sinks low
The shadows will cover her face
As her last sun goes down, she's laid beneath the ground
And my teardrops are falling like rain...
Beneath this snowy mantle cold and clean
The unborn grass lies waiting for its coat to turn to
green
The snowbird sings the song he always sings
And speaks to me of flowers that will bloom again in
spring
When I was young my heart was young then too
Anything that it would tell me that's the thing that I
would do
But now I feel such emptiness within
For the thing that I want most in life is the thing
that I can't win
Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you where it came from on
that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would fly away with you
The breeze along the river seems to say
That he'll only break my heart again should I decide to
stay
So little snowbird take me with you, when you go
To that land of gentle breezes where the peaceful
waters flow
Spread your tiny wings and fly away
And take the snow back with you where it came from on
that day
The one I love forever is untrue
And if I could you know that I would fly away with you
Yeah, if I could you know that I would fly away with
you
When day is done
and shadows fall
I dream of you!
When day is done
I think of all
the joys we knew!
That yearning, returning,
to hold you in my arms,
won't go love, I know love,
without you, night has lost it's charms!
When day is done
and grass is wet
with twilight's dew,
my lonely heart is sinking
with the sun!
Although I miss your tender kiss
the whole day through,
I miss you most of all
when day is done!
Although I miss your tender kiss
the whole day through,
I miss you most of all
when day is done!
When I was young, my Dad would say
Come on Son let's go out and play
Sometimes it seems like yesterday
And I'd climb up the closet shelf
When I was all by my-self
Grab his hat and fix the brim
Pretending I was him
No matter how hard I try
No matter how many tears I cry
No matter how many years go by
I still can't say good-bye
He always took care of Mom and me.
We all cut down a Christmas tree
He always had some time for me
Wind blows through the trees
Street lights, they still shine bright
Most things are the same
but I miss my Dad to-night
I walked by a Salvation Army store Saw a hat like my
daddy wore
Tried it on when I walked in
Still trying to be like him
No matter how hard I try
No matter how many years go by
No matter how many tears I cry
I still can't say good-bye
Oh, sometimes I go walking
Through fields where we walked
Long ago in the sweet used to be
And the flowers still grow,
But they dont smell as sweet
As they did when you picked them for me
And when I think of you
And the love we once knew
How I wish we could go back in time
Do you ever think back
on old memories like that
Or do I ever cross your mind?
Oh, how often I wish
That again I could kiss
Your sweet lips
Like I did long ago
And how often I long
For those two loving arms
That once held me so gentle and close
And when I think of you
And the love we once knew
How I wish we could go back in time
Do you ever think back
on old memories like that
Or do I ever cross your mind?
When old memories appear
My eyes won't stay clear
When I think
At all those happy times
Do you ever recaal
These old memories at all
Or do I ever Croos your mind?
I've got some good news, honey
