Wayne's World was originally a recurring sketch from the NBC television series Saturday Night Live. It evolved from a segment titled "Wayne's Power Minute" (1987?-88) on the CBC Television series It's Only Rock & Roll, as the main character first appeared in that show. The Saturday Night Live sketch spawned two films, and several catchphrases which have since entered the pop-culture lexicon. The sketch centered on a local Public-access television program in Aurora, Illinois, hosted by Wayne Campbell (Mike Myers, the same actor from "Wayne's Power Minute"), an enthusiastic and sardonic long-haired metalhead, and his timid and sometimes high-strung, yet equally metal-loving sidekick and best friend, Garth Algar (Dana Carvey) . Wayne lives with his parents and broadcasts his show "live" from the basement of their house every Friday evening at 10:30. The first "Wayne's World" sketch appeared in the 13th Saturday Night Live episode of 1988.
The "show" would open with Wayne and Garth singing the lyric to the opening theme, "Wayne's World! Wayne's World! Party time! Excellent!", accompanied by Wayne's frantic strumming of his guitar, and Garth drumming on his lap with drum sticks. The two would introduce themselves (Garth: "Party on, Wayne." Wayne: "Party on, Garth.") and then proceed to go into their various exploits, including discussions of their love of hard rock bands and "babes", as well as juvenile antics, such as the "Extreme Close-Up" (where a camera would zoom in on Wayne and Garth as they screamed) and tricking their unsuspecting guests into saying vulgar words. Garth would frequently get overexcited and lose control, to which Wayne would have to tell him, "Take your Ritalin."

Darling you look so fine today
I’ve never seen you like this time before
(look now)
I know you pretty well
I’m trying to be good for you
I love the way you walk
I swear I can’t stand to have a talk
So let’s hang out tonight
Baby would you have a little dance with me, come on
Get the party on the dance floor
Lady move your body
Until we spend the time all night long
Let me guess
Which dress will you choose
Pick the best to match on the dance floor
I’ll pick you up at nine with my dad’s car
So here we go now
(hey)
We’re the one who saves the party
So don’t be late tonight
I love the way you talk
I swear I can’t stand to ask you out
Don’t look like a freak
Don’t worry don’t be weak
I need you to know
We’ll make it through the night
Yeah I’m here
Ohh no, I’m not
[Verse 1]
Girls on lock
Make it drop
Hand on glock
Party hard, never stop
Haters hate, bitches talk
I\'m too trashed to even walk
I\'m too gone to be found
Hate rising, 40oz
Race, ankle, shackle, fights
I\'ll fight out till sunrise
I\'ll wake up with no regrets
With 11 girls in my bed
I\'m back up, and going out
Fuck my way through the crowd
Gotta raise my body, count
Up and down, scream and shout
Live it up, party down
Drinkin\' shots till\' i hit the ground
[Chorus]
There\'s a party that\'s going on
We\'ll stay up till\' the break of dawn
We all like, when the party\'s in my sight
I\'m feelin\' good when the drinks are all gone
Live it up
Party on
Drink it down
Till\' the sun comes out
Live it up
Party on
Drink it down
Till\' the sun comes out
Doing E, doing speed, doing cocaine
Mix it with alcohol and go insane
In the morning the edge of the knife
Where the hell is the bright side of life?
It's a farcical high for a few hours
Then you're blind and you can't see the bright flowers
For the light of a child and the glee
If you splurge then the law you'll agree
Turns you into a shell of what you used to be
All the weeks you're living in a fantasy
Fantasise about the party to come
Then your day-life just doesn't seem fun
I'm not telling you how to do your thing
I'm just laying down some facts about indulging
How the shit going 'round can become
Your controller, your dictator, your one
I'm giving it up I swear in the New Year.
No more of that for me, you'll see...
I'm going to be going straight I can't wait
Until this year is gone, party on.
Coming down on the ground in a small house
You're a man but you feel like a small mouse
Not so long ago you felt like a king
Someone give me psychiatrist a ring
We'll have no bread and feel feckin' brain-dead
All alone in a room full of E-heads
Feel so hollow and sickingly and worthless
There's no cure in the mosques or the churches
I met strangers who barely six hours ago
Were the best friends I thought I'd ever know
Now they're strangers again 'cos I'm down
And I won't say 'hello' if I see them in town
I'm giving it up I swear in the New Year.
No more of that for me, you'll see...
I'm going to be going straight I can't wait
