This replay demonstrates the power of an Athenian skirmish build with a Pike/Hoplite core. Enemy cavalry will have a difficult time making an impact on the battle when faced with so many heavily armored spears, and this will hopefully give your skirmish units the time they need to whittle away at your opponent. And peltasts don't need much time to do their work.. -

My Javelin is moded with heavy armor so dont go saying, you didnt kill a ion... Yep its metal killer only... I wasnt expectiing it to kill soft or leather that easy, if that was hum. I lol'd when Melody screamed "DEBUFF HIM, WC HIM, LET HIM WC IT!", he si so pro. Notice his dam to my fig montoro 1.8k each hit from chain and his sb, no comment did like 15k or something? So he couldnt kill he called NK and TO. The sb grandies that died twice to critical 150k was ShexiBawdi or something, using +8 foc def + 3dr, I told him to reachip or try to +9, anyway watch it. A peltast (Ancient Greek: πελταστής) was a type of light infantry in Ancient Greece who often served as skirmishers.
Peltasts carried a crescent-shaped wicker shield called pelte (Latin: peltarion) as their main protection, hence their name. According to Aristotle the pelte was rimless and covered in goat or sheep skin. Some literary sources imply that the shield could be round but in art it is usually shown as crescent shaped. It also appears in Scythian Art and may have been a common type in Central Europe. The shield could be carried with a central strap and a hand grip near the rim or with just a central hand-grip. It may also have had a carrying strap (or baldric) as Thracian peltasts slung their shields on their backs when evading the enemy. Peltasts' weapons consisted of several javelins, which may have had throwing straps to allow more force to be applied to a throw.
In the Archaic period, the Greek martial tradition had been focused almost exclusively on the heavy infantry or hoplites.
