Namun operasi itu diduga bocor. Akibatnya, para penghuni kos-kosan tidak ada di lokasi dan petugas hanya menemukan puluhan pil koplo beserta pemiliknya. Digelarnya razia tersebut lantaran warga resah dengan banyaknya pemuda tanggung yang sering mabuk-mabukan dan juga mesum di wilayah itu. Kasus tersebut kini dilimpahkan ke aparat kepolisian kota Probolinggo, guna penyeledikan lebih lanjut

An increase in volcanic tremor was detected at Bromo at the beginning of November 2010. By the 22nd, tremor was almost continuous and increased degassing was evident, leading authorities to raise the alert level to 4 on the 23rd. First significant ash emissions were noted on 26 Nov. marking the onset of the eruption. Output of ash was high at several stages in the eruption and led to significnt damage to vegetation in downwind areas. Flights have been disrupted at nearby Malang City airport, but also as far away (400km) as Bali, where numerous flights were cancelled on 28.01.11 when an up to 5500m high ash cloud extended from Bromo to the island. Activity in mid-March 2011 as documented below could be distinguished into largely strombolian phases accompanied by little ash and variable levels of degassing, and phases during which significant amounts of ash were released. Strombolian phases were sometimes accompanied by powerful shockwaves, often after short periods (10-30 secs) of complete calm, presumably signifying blockage of the vent resulting in pressure buildup. The Pura Luhur Poten temple at the base of Bromo is a Buddist / Hindu temple holy to the Tenggerese community. During the annual Yadnya Kasada ceremony (see section at bottom of page), offerings of food are thrown into the crater of Bromo volcano, activity permitting. The 08.06.04 eruption also shows that Bromo can be dangerous, especially as it is frequently climbed by tourists and eruptions can come without warning. In 2004, the main eruptive event came without any obvious precursor and caught a number of tourists by surprise as they were on the staircase leading up to the crater. Two tourists were killed by direct impact of ballistics and several more injured. A several kilometer high eruption column was produced during the main event which lasted less than 2 hours. Minor ash emissions were reported for several days before the volcano returned to dormancy, The photos in this section were taken weeks after this eruption and show the amount of ballistics that were thrown from the crater during the eruption and some of the damage they caused. High concentrations of volcanic gases in the crater (especially Hydrogen Sulphide) may also pose a danger, and have accounted for fatalities in the past according to van Gerven and Pichler (1995).

The Tenggerese or Tengger people are the descendants of the Majapahit princes. Their population of roughly 600,000 is centered in thirty villages in the isolated Tengger mountains (Mount Bromo) within the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East-Central Java. Scattered communities of Tenggerese also exist in the Pasuruan, Probolinggo, Malang, and Lumajang districts of eastern Java. They are traditionally believed to be the descendants of Roro Anteng and Joko Seger. The Tenggerese are considered an ethnic sub-group of the Javanese people. Before the 15th century, the past of the Tenggerese was linked with the Majapahit and other kingdoms from the earlier period. According to legend, Jaka Seger and Roro Anteng are the ancestors of the Tenggerese. Since then, the Tenggerese lived in near-complete isolation until recently. The Tenggerese speak an archaic Javanese (Majapahit) dialect called Tengger. Elements of modern Javanese influences can be seen in their speech. They have their own written Kavi script based on the old Javanese Brahmi type. The Tenggerese generally profess Hinduism as their religion, although they have incorporated many Buddhist and Animist elements. Like the Balinese, they worship Ida Sang Hyang Widi Wasa (Roughly "Big Almighty Lord") for blessings in addition to other Hindu and Buddhist gods that include the Tri Murti, namely Shiva, Brahma, Vishnu and Buddha. Their places of worship include the Punden, Poten and Danyang. The Poten is a sacred area of ground at Mt. Bromo's Sand sea, and becomes the focus of the annual Kasada Ceremony. Within the Poten, it contains several buildings and enclosures, arranged in a specific composition called the Mandalas (Zones). The Tenggerese also worship a host of spirits (ancestor worship). They include cikal bakal, the spirits of the founders of the village, the roh bahurekso, the village guardian spirits and the roh leluhur, the spirits of the ancestors. Rituals to propitiate these spirits are conducted by special priests. During these rites little doll-like figures representing the spirits are clothed in batik cloth and are presented with food and drink. It is believed that the spirits partake of the essence of these offerings. The Bromo volcano is considered one of the most sacred places. If it erupts, they believe that their god is very angry. The Tenggerese gave offerings to the gods in different forms. One of these, Sajenan, is presented to the guardian deities by the priest in formal liturgy. For different occasions different sorts of food are offered as Sajenan. For instance, during weddings a cone of rice, Tumpeng Walagara, is offered, and this is considered to be a source of blessing for the couple as well as the whole village. The second sort of food offering, called Suguhan, are those that are offered by ordinary Tengger Hindus to their ancestral spirits. The third type, Tamping, are food offerings to evil spirits so as to ward off bad luck, and typically consist of meat, rice and bananas wrapped up in leaves and placed at places considered inauspicious such as cemeteries, bridges and road intersections. Their priests are called Dukun or Resi Pujangga, who play a middle role in their religious worship. They are believed to possess spiritual knowledge called Ilmu of the gods and the spirits, which they carefully guard from ordinary Tenggers. Membership of the priesthood is hereditary, and generally passes down from father to son. Each village has only one of these three priests, together with three assistants, namely Legen, Sepuh and Dandan. However, in the past few decades, due to over-population in Madura, many Madurese settlers have exploited the Tenggerese land by clearing some of their nature reserves for land and converted 2-3% (up to 10,000 of them) of the Tenggerese to Islam in the process, particularly those living in the more accessible areas in the lowlands just outside the Tengger range. Because of this Islamic missionary activity, the remaining Hindu Tenggerese asked the Balinese Hindus for help by reforming their culture and religion closer to the Balinese. The Indonesian government finally declared the Tengger mountains as the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru national park, and has also declared that any more logging in this area is an illegal act. Both Muslim and Christian missionaries have attempted to convert the Tenggerese. However, the Christians had little success; they only managed to convert a few hundred to Christianity. Even so, due to the negligible number of them, most of them either reverted to Hinduism or converted to Islam. The Tenggerese Muslims have a more successful conversion, though they frequently mix original Hindu-Buddhist ideas and spirits to their Islam and celebrate Tenggerese festivals at the same time.

Madurese/duranese Ma is a large ethnic populations in Indonesia , numbering approximately 20,179,356 million inhabitants ( 2014 census ) . They came from Madura Island and surrounding islands like Gili King , Sapudi , RAAS , and Kangean . Moreover , Madurese living in the eastern part of East Java commonly called horse hooves region , from Pasuruan to the north of Banyuwangi . Madurese who are in Situbondo , Bondowoso , Probolinggo , Lumajang , Jember , the numbers at most and rarely speak Javanese , also including North Surabaya , as well as most of Malang . there is also a meneap in Bawean , in the neighboring country of Malaysia for example also exist , even those who are permanent residents that can live live foreverlin this island .

USAID-IUWASH collaborates with the Health Office, sanitarians and local community to implement community-based total sanitation program in Probolinggo District, East Java, Indonesia. A pilot project called "Jamban Sehat" (Healthy Toilet) has been implemented to improve sanitation facilities. Through microfinance scheme, about 50 households in Probolinggo were able to build individual toilet at their homes. USAID-IUWASH is currently working with banks and local community to establish a cooperation that will manage the microfinance funds and expand access to adequate sanitation for low-income communities in Indonesia.

Mengunjungi air terjun Madakaripura adalah salah satu hal yang harus dilakukan oleh para penjelajah yang pergi ke Jawa Timur. Madakaripura bisa dicapai dari Malang atau pun Probolinggo. Dari Probolinggo Anda bisa naik bus besar ke arah Tongas. Sepatu yang kuat, tahan air ataupun sandal gunung sangat disarankan untuk perjalanan ini. Perjalanan menempuh kurang lebih 1 jam ketika kemudian Anda merasakan dinginnya sekitar dan juga air yang meloncat-loncat ke tubuh Anda. Maka dari itu, baju ganti, jas hujan ataupun payung sangat disarankan. Anda harus berjalan lebih jauh sedikit untuk bisa menikmati air terjun utamanya. Anda masih harus menaiki tebing yang cukup licin dan sempit. Tapi sekali lagi itu akan terbayar dengan begitu Anda melihat air terjun utama yang berdinging melingkar, jadi terlihat seperti Anda berada di dalam botol. Dari Probolinggo Anda bisa naik bus besar ke arah Tongas. Probolinggo is a city on the north coast of East Java, Indonesia in Probolinggo Regency.
Like most of northern East Java, the city has a large Madurese population in addition to many ethnically Javanese people. It is located on one of the major highways across Java, and has a harbor that is heavily used by fishing vessels.
Under the Dutch East Indies colonial administration, especially in the 19th century, Probolinggo was a lucrative regional center for refining and exporting sugar, and sugar remains an important product of the area.
The city is famous for its mangoes, locally called mangga manalagi. Strong dry-season winds from July to September, the angin gending, help the mango trees pollinate and are sometimes credited with being the source of the area's quality fruit. The city formerly produced grapes as well, but few grapes are grown in the area now.
The motto of the city is Bestari which is an abbreviation of bersih (cleanliness), sehat (healthy), tertib (orderly), aman (safe), rapi (neat), and indah (beautiful).
