Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly may think that Americans who vote for Democrats are “dumb,” but according to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, that word better describes Democratic candidates. During MSNBC’s midterm election coverage Tuesday evening, Chris Matthews asked the panel why the rise of ISIS did not become a bigger issue than Ebola in these final weeks leading up to Election Day. Whether it was ISIS or Ebola, Mitchell said Republicans used issues like those as “scare tactics” and talked about in the “scariest, most non-factual ways to take at the eye off the real issues.” “But the Democrats were dumb enough to not say, let’s talk about the economy,” Mitchell added. Agreeing with Mitchell, Chuck Todd faulted Democrats for “engaging” in the conversation with Republicans. While the GOP succeeded in “nationalizing” the election, he said Democrats got caught up in more local issues that voters with which were not connecting.

The marriage licenses are already gender neutral. Chapel photographers have been practicing shooting two brides wearing white gowns. And an ordained Elvis will be waiting at the end of the aisle. Las Vegas, the land of wedding chapels, is ready for gay weddings. On Tuesday, Nevada and Idaho joined the growing number of states where same-sex marriage is legal when the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that gay couples' equal protection rights were violated by the gay marriage bans in both states. The Marriage License Bureau in Las Vegas is expected to issue licenses for same-sex couples starting at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Idaho will start Wednesday morning. Las Vegas saw this moment coming and prepared accordingly. (Aired July 15, 2015 on Time Warner Cable News North Carolina stations) At a White House news conference Wednesday, President Obama said the landmark nuclear deal with Iran is the best way to avoid an arms race and more war in the Middle East. The agreement would curb Iran's nuclear program in exchange for significant sanctions relief. The president said he welcomes a "robust" debate over the deal's merits. "That's how it should be," said Obama. "This is an important issue.” That debate has intensified, now that the discussions have shifted from the negotiating table in Vienna to the halls of Congress. Lawmakers will get the chance to approve or reject the terms of the deal after a 60-day review period. Key Democrats in Congress have voiced concerns about the deal, and congressional Republicans are almost universally opposed it. North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis detailed his criticism in an interview with Washington bureau reporter Geoff Bennett. The following is a brief excerpt: Tillis: "I will never knowingly vote for something that I think puts Americans at risk. I think that this agreement puts Americans at risk, and there are other ways to get to a non-nuclear Iran without stipulating that maybe they can have a weapon within eight years or 10 years or 15 years." Bennett: "The president said today that critics of this deal should be asked, 'What alternatives would you suggest that reach the same objective?' So I put that question you: What's a better alternative?" Tillis: "Well, I think it's fascinating the president has already said any alternatives we suggest, he would veto. I think we would start with something simple -- a non-nuclear Iran."
