In this video in this video we see the famous recognition scene here with the sleuth Miss Marple played by Joan Hickson as Eurycleia. In Steve Nallon's brilliantly funny one-man show the impressionist, actor and comedian invites you to join him and his 'troupe of characters' on a remarkable journey. Using his vast array of voices, Steve has assembled one of the biggest stellar celebrity casts imaginable -- including Woody Allen, Dame Maggie Smith, David Beckham, Tony Blair, Patricia Routledge, Yoda, Ann Widdecombe, Bugs Bunny, Kenneth Williams, John Hurt, Barbra Streisand, Alan Bennett, Sir Lawrence Olivier, and many, many more -- to truly bring to life Homer's classic tale of love, laughter, sex and adventure.

"If Steve Nallon were a Greek god -- and he says himself it would be pushing the magic of theatre to its limits -- he would be Proteus, the god who could change shape." The Stage
"An hour of Nallon's voices is entertaining and speeds by". Evening News
"Nallon has an enormous wealth of uncanny impersonations up his sleeve of everyone from Tony Blair and Ann Widdecombe to Robin Williams, Dame Edna and Yoda. And there are plenty of hearty chuckles to hold the attention." Fest
"You don't have to have read the poem to understand what's going on, as Nallon provides an excellent running commentary, where his love of the epic comes shining through." Three Weeks
"Steve Nallon's Big Odyssey is an amiable way to spend an hour with one of impressionism's old masters." The Stage
"Nallon successfully marries high and popular culture. The audience is afforded the double pleasure of the impression, and seeing which star gets the spot... Nallon clearly enjoys puns on the star's names, as Penelope Keith is cast as Penelope, and Homer (Simpson) as Polyphemus (the Cyclops)." Three Weeks
Steve Nallon's Big Odyssey is the story of the magical journey home of ancient Greek's most famous accidental tourist -- Odysseus. At the end of the Trojan War Odysseus set off for home, a journey that was to last ten years. Steve Nallon follows the original structure of Homer's Odyssey and begins the show with the gods releasing Odysseus for the last stage of that journey. But even the last leg has problems and Odysseus is forced to rest on the island of Phaeacia. It is here that Odysseus tells the tale of his long adventures -- how he encountered magical sea creatures, sexual temptresses, angry gods, one-eyed giants and the ghosts of his fellow Greek heroes of the Trojan War.
Steve Nallon's Big Odyssey was directed by Ed Curtis and was originally produced by Fat Bloke Productions (Andre Collier, Piers Torday and Neale Simpson). The tour management was Tristan Baker Productions.
Performance History
Steve Nallon's Big Odyssey toured in the spring of 2003 to Stahl Theatre, Peterborough; Ludlow Assembly Rooms, Ludlow; Maltings Arts Theatre, St Albans; Chesterfield Arts Centre, Chesterfield; Unity Theatre, Liverpool; Riverside Theatre, Northern Ireland; Norden Farm Centre, Maidenhead; Customs House, South Shields; Alnwick Playhouse, Alnwick; Guildhall Arts Centre, Grantham; Theatre Royal: Guildhall, Bury St Edmunds; Garrison Theatre, Lerwick, Shetlands; Electric Theatre, Guildford; Square Chapel Centre for Performing Arts, Halifax; Lochside Theatre, Castle Douglas and the Jermyn Street Theatre, London West End. The show premiered at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival in August 2002 at the Assembly Rooms. The show was first presented in a workshop version at the Little Angel Theatre in Islington on the 16 February 2002. This was followed with presentations in the early summer of 2002 at the Aldeburgh Festival and the Midland Arts Centre, Birmingham.

His dying words are "Why didn't they ask Evans?". The dead man is identified by his sister Mrs. Cayman as Alex Pritchard, who had recently returned to the UK from abroad and was on a walking tour. Bobby and his friend Lady Frances Derwent soon conclude that illicit drugs are at the core of the mystery and suspicion falls on a certain Dr. Nicholson who runs a country clinic for drug addicts. The mystery revolves around a will and numerous false or stolen identities. But just who is Evans and what should he/she have been asked?

A fascinating insight into how life once was - or supposedly was - in the Public School system. Richard Attenborough, at 25, plays 14 year old Jack Read, a working-class tobacconist's son, who wins a scholarship to a Public School. Bernard Miles (who also had a hand in writing the screenplay) and Joan Hickson play his parents, and the cast includes many well-known acting names among whom are Sheila Sim (Attenborough's wife), Robert Flemyng, Cecil Trouncer, Timothy Bateson, Herbert (Lom) Lomas, Anthony Newley, Anthony Nicholls, Kynaston Reeves, Olive Sloane, and uncredited James Kenney and Edward Judd among other uncredited actors. The film was directed by Roy Boulting and caused something of a stir by being the first movie to articulate the word "arse"! I do not own the copyright to this film.

Christie had never been very happy with most filmed adaptations of her works, and according to her grandson Mathew Pritchard, who handled her estate after her death, "did not care much for television" either. Producer Pat Sandys of LWT first approached Pritchard and the Christie estate with a researched, detailed plan to film the novels Why Didn't They Ask Evans? and The Seven Dials Mystery in the early 1980s. Although indifferently treated by critics, the projects were popular with audiences and led to the filming of a number of short stories and the Tommy and Tuppence Beresford stories including The Secret Adversary and in the subsequent series Agatha Christie's Partners in Crime. With the success of that series, the BBC got the approval to produce the stories of one of Christie's most famous detectives.[1]
Joan Hickson, who played Miss Marple, was an octogenarian herself during most of the series' production. Decades before, she had appeared in a minor role in Murder, She Said, in which Margaret Rutherford played Miss Marple. The adaptations are mainly true to the original novels. Hickson had also appeared in a stage adaptation of the novel Appointment with Death in 1946, after which Christie sent Hickson a note "I hope one day you will play my dear Miss Marple."[2]
There were two other semi-regular characters in Miss Marple. The first was Inspector Slack (later Superintendent), played by David Horovitch, the second was Constable (later Sergeant) Lake, played by Ian Brimble. Inspector/Superintendent Slack and Detective Constable/Sergeant Lake appeared in five episodes, Body in the Library, Murder at the Vicarage, 4.50 From Paddington, They Do It with Mirrors and The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side. They are the official detectives and both (particularly Slack) originally dislike and are exasperated by Miss Marple, her interference and her methods, but they eventually come to respect (and indeed, in the case of Lake, like) her.
There were also four other recurring characters. John Castle appeared as Inspector Dermot Eric Craddock in A Murder Is Announced and The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side. Gwen Watford appeared in Body in the Library and The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side as Mrs Dolly Bantry. Barbara Hicks appeared in The Murder at the Vicarage and The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side as Miss Amanda Hartnell. Christopher Good appeared as Ronnie Hawes in Murder at the Vicarage and The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side.

The Invisible Man (later known as H.G. Wells' Invisible Man) is a British science fiction/adventure/espionage television series that aired on ITV from September 1958 to July 1959.
The series follows the adventures of Dr. Peter Brady, a scientist who is attempting to achieve invisibility with light refraction — a completely different technique than the protagonist of the novel utilized. However, the experiment goes wrong and turns him permanently invisible. He is initially declared a state secret and locked up, but eventually convinces the UK government, represented by Sir Charles Anderson, to allow him to return to his laboratory and search for an antidote ("Secret Experiment"). Almost immediately, British Intelligence recruits him for an assignment ("Crisis in the Desert"), but soon security is breached ("Behind the Mask") and he becomes a celebrity ("Picnic with Death"), consequently also using his invisibility to help people in trouble, as well as solve crimes and defeat spies for his country.

Liz Fraser is a BAFTA-nominated English actress, best known for her comedy roles as a provocative "dumb blonde" in British films of the 1950s, '60s and '70s.
Fraser is known for her many appearances in British films and television series, including Hancock's Half Hour, Citizen James, Last of the Summer Wine and The Avengers episode "The Girl from Auntie". As Elizabeth Fraser, over a period of nearly six months, she appeared in numerous editions of the Associated-Rediffusion soap opera Sixpenny Corner (1955–56). She played Mrs Brent, a dead/missing girl's mother, in "Nemesis" – one of the Joan Hickson Miss Marple episodes for the BBC in 1987. She gave a strong and memorable performance in The Professionals episode "Backtrack" first broadcast in 1979 as Margery Harper (Marge) a fairly glamorous lady who fenced stolen property in her shop.
She also appeared on Benny Hill's late-1950s TV shows, and in a single sketch in the 23 December 1970 episode of his Thames TV series. As this episode was in black & white (due to the "colour strike" by TV technicians, who wanted to be paid extra for working with the then-new colour TV technology), the sketch was not included in any of the half-hour syndicated episodes of the Benny Hill Show. However, it is included in the Volume 1 box set of the complete "Benny Hill Show", issued by A&E; and Fremantle.
Her first film appearance was in Touch and Go (1955) credited as Elizabeth Frazer and The Smallest Show on Earth (1957) in which she worked with Peter Sellers for the first time. Further film appearances include I'm All Right, Jack (1959) for which she received a BAFTA nomination as Most Promising Newcomer, Two-Way Stretch (1960), The Americanization of Emily (1964), the sex comedies Adventures of a Taxi Driver (1976), Confessions of a Driving Instructor (1976), Adventures of a Private Eye (1977) and Rosie Dixon – Night Nurse (1978), and four of the Carry On films: Carry On Regardless (1961), Carry On Cruising (1962), Carry On Cabby (1963) and Carry On Behind (1975). Her other television work has included Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), Crown Court, The Bill, Foyle's War, Birds of a Feather, Minder and Holby City.
