GROOVIE GHOULIES (1997) Running With Bigfoot (Single-**FLAC**)

The Groovie Ghoulies were an American pop punk band from Sacramento, California, United States, whose music took inspiration from horror movies. They released numerous albums, EPs, and singles, and toured internationally. The band's name was taken from the 1970s animated television series Groovie Goolies, a spinoff of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (itself a spinoff of The Archie Show).
Though the group's lineup fluctuated significantly throughout their career, bassist/vocalist Kepi remained a constant fixture. Guitarist Roach (lead singer Kepi's wife) was also a longtime member. The Groovie Ghoulies' music is best classified as pop-punk and is heavily influenced by early punk groups such as the Ramones and The Dickies, 1960s garage rock and bubblegum artists such as The Troggs and The Monkees, and 1950s rock and roll artists such as Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. Throughout their career the Groovie Ghoulies recorded cover versions of songs by several of these artists as well as other influences including Daniel Johnston and Neil Diamond.

MEAT PUPPETS (1984) Meat Puppets II

Meat Puppets II is the second album by the Tempe, Arizona band the Meat Puppets, released in 1984. It is a departure from their self-titled debut album, which consisted largely of noisy hardcore with unintelligible vocals. It covers many genres from country-style rock ("Magic Toy Missing", "Climbing", Lost") to slow acoustic songs ("Plateau", "Oh Me") to psychedelic guitar effects ("Aurora Borealis") to hard rock ("Lake of Fire").
The cover art is by Curt Kirkwood and Neal Holliday.
Rykodisc reissued the album in 1999 with extra tracks and b-sides, including a cover of the Rolling Stones' Aftermath-era track "What To Do."
The Meat Puppets' SST labelmates The Minutemen covered "Lost" on the EP Tour-Spiel and their last studio album, 3-Way Tie (For Last). Three of the album's songs were covered by Nirvana (as the Kirkwood brothers joined them onstage) during their "Unplugged" show for MTV ("Plateau", "Oh, Me", and "Lake of Fire").

JAWBOX (--91--) Grippe (.fLaC)

Jawbox played its first show opening for Fugazi in 1989. Not long after that, the band began to tour and record, releasing its first single, “Tools & Chrome”, in 1990 as a split between Desoto and Dischord. Jawbox released two full-length records on Dischord, “Grippe” and “Novelty,” and toured heavily throughout the ’90s.
During that decade, the mainstream record industry developed an interest in the underground music community and gravitated toward bands like Jawbox, who possessed a strong work ethic and a proven audience. In 1993, Jawbox left Dischord to sign with Atlantic Records, where it would release two more albums – “For Your Own Special Sweetheart” and “Jawbox” – before disbanding in 1997.
In 2009 Desoto and Dischord began working together to re-issue the long out of print album "For Your Own Special Sweetheart". The album was remastered by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service and is being re-issued with all new artwork on both CD and LP. - See more at: http://www.dischord.com/band/jawbox#sthash.lVDDISCf.dpuf

JERRY'S KIDS -- Kill Kill Kill / Is This My World (.fLaC)

Jerry's Kids is one of the earliest Boston hardcore bands, formed in 1981, from Braintree, Mass.. Their first recorded output was on the Modern Method This Is Boston, Not L.A. compilation LP in 1982. They contributed six tracks along with other early Boston Hardcore band Gang Green.
Frontman Bryan Jones and rhythm guitar player Dave Aronson left the band early on. Bryan Jones had broken his leg at one of their gigs and his parents denied him permission to play in the band any further. Bassist Rick Jones (Bryan's brother) switched to vocals and Chris Doherty of Gang Green took over on rhythm guitar. It was this line-up that recorded the classic 12 song LP Is This My World? on X-Claim in 1983, featuring songs such as "Cracks In The Wall", "Build Me A Bomb" and "Vietnam Syndrome". They broke up in 1985, but reformed in 1987 with a more speed metal sound and released an LP on Taang! Records entitled Kill Kill Kill. Reflex/Wolfpack Records released a limited re-issue of the Is This My World? LP in 2002. The band reunited again in 2004 and has been playing several shows per year around Boston since then. Their current recording plans, if any, are unknown.

AGRESSION (--1995--) The Best Of Agression (.fLaC)

Agression was part of the first wave of skatepunk bands to emerge from southern California in the early '80s. These groups were on the front lines of a new union between the skateboard and punk rock cultures, which were put on a path to convergence by the establishment hassling each group. The resulting music was a confluence of punk's anger and simplicity, the furious speed of hardcore, and defiantly smart-assed machismo. Emerging out of Oxnard, CA (which was such a hotbed of punk and skate bands that their sound became known as "Nardcore"), Agression consisted of the two founding members, vocalist Mark Hickey, and guitarist Henry Knowles, along with bassist Bob Clark, and drummer Mark Aber.

HOLLY TREE (--2002--) The British Punk Classics Greatest Shits (.fLaC)

Holly Tree is a punk band from São Paulo, Brazil, formed by George (vocals and guitar), Tito (bass) and Zé (drums and backing vocals). They started on 1995, rehearsing in a rented basement. In 1996, they record their first EP, "Mom's Tea Party", under a label created by the Holly Tree themselves: Silly Sally Records. The influence of bands such as Rancid, Green Day and some old 70's UK punk makes them influent on Brazil's underground scene, and in 1998 they release their debut album: "Running Out Of Sense", by Silly Sally. In 2000 they play on CBGB and release "Don't Burst Me". In 2001, they took a step forward opening for the Buzzcocks, UK Subs and The Lurkers, and participating into a compilation called Pub Rock Songs, along with three other punk bands. At the end of 2001, Zé lefts the band, and Paul Cooko replaces him on the drums.

RHYTHM PIGS (--1993--) El Paso (.fLaC)

The Rhythm Pigs were a punk band, originally from El Paso, Texas, later relocated to San Francisco. Their first two albums were among the first to be released by the influential independent Mordam Records label. Their first 7" EP is a classic example of early hardcore, welding driving rock and roll with broad melodies and varied tempos and hooks. Their first two studio albums showed more "big tent" punk, with varied musical styles (such as the foray into rap in "Break or We'll Break Your Face" on their self-titled LP) happily shoehorned into melodic punk songs.
Touring extensively throughout Europe and North America throughout the mid-1980s, the Rhythm Pigs were one of the most sophisticated and musically diverse hardcore bands, and remained so throughout the 1980s as hardcore became more and more musically conservative. That the wistful and melodic power-ballads of El Paso would not be considered punk by most adherents has as much to do with the shifting definition of punk as it does with the mellowing of the band's sound. Baby Falcon Getaway saw a return to a more raw, fast-paced hard rock sound (the three out-and-out hardcore songs on El Paso are collected into a single track titled "The Fast Three") combined with the more humorous tone seen on the first album. Baby Falcon Getaway included a hardcore cover of the Gordon Lightfoot classic "Sundown" and a furiously paced rendition of Charles Mingus's "Boogie Stop Shuffle," which recalled the Peanuts theme (Vince Guaraldi's Linus and Lucy) from the first album.
