In those hierarchically organised churches of Western Christianity which have an ecclesiastical law system, an ordinary is an officer of the church who by reason of office has ordinary power to execute the church's laws. The term comes from the Latin word ordinarius.
In Eastern Christianity, a corresponding officer is called a hierarch, which comes from the Greek word ἱεράρχης (hierarchēs) meaning " president of sacred rites, high-priest" and that from "ἱερεύς" (hiereus), "priest" + "ἀρχή" (archē), amongst others "first place or power, rule". In common usage in the Episcopal Church, an ordinary is a diocesan bishop.
The term is also employed within civic governance, notably in the US; the Ordinary role involves the discharge of certain, often legal or legally related, tasks falling to city or county authorities, such as licensing marriages and adjudicating claims against an authority.
In canon law, the power to govern the church is divided into the power to make laws (legislative), enforce the laws (executive), and to judge based on the law (judicial). A person exercises power to govern either because the person holds an office to which the law grants governing power or because someone with governing power has delegated it to the person. Ordinary power is the former, while the latter is delegated power. The office with ordinary power could possess the governing power itself (proper ordinary power) or instead it could have the ordinary power of agency, the inherent power to exercise someone else's power (vicarious ordinary power).
All the shit you put me through you'd think i was a
superman
But im not made of steel
i may be strong but im not strong enough to be let down
some wounds will never heal
You wear me out..
you wear me out..
(chorus)
Im ordinary
just skin and bone
Im ordinary
Im not invinsible
Not invinsible
Times are rough we don't have much but i can work
things out
you find it hard to see
what i give is all i have and when thats not good
enough
you hold it over me
You hold me down..
you hold me down..
(chorus)
Im ordinary
just skin and bone
Im ordinary
Im not invinsible
Not invinsible
You should have known
you brought this on and im out
what did u work for me
i gave you everything
oh im dying, im lying on the ground
all this shit you put me through you'd think i was a
superman
but im not made of steel
Im not invinsible
Im ordinary
Not invinsible
just skin and bone
Im not invinsible
im ordinary
Im not invinsible
just skin and bone
not invinsible
you should have known
You should have known
you brought this on and im out
what did u work for me
i gave you everything
Digging slowly, flowers growing
Beautiful from inside of me
Overlooking misrepresentation of my findings
Are we gonna come back to this?
How we ever gonna make a match to this?
Let's lay low like a mattress
Just be another one after this
You could never stop this feelin'
I've got inside of me
And you could never fill these shoes
'Cause I refuse to lose
I'm just ordinary me
Digging slowly, flowers growing
Beautiful from inside of me
Overlooking misrepresentation of my findings
Are we gonna come back to this?
How we ever gonna make a match to this?
Let's lay low like a mattress
Just be another one after this
You could never stop this feelin'
I've got inside of me
And you could never fill these shoes
'Cause I refuse to lose
I'm just ordinary me
You could never stop this feelin'
I've got inside of me
I'm prepared to let this go
To let everybody know
I'm just ordinary
Growin' up as an adolescent
So full of those questions got me second guessin'
My mind with the message and the mention of my
Progression, class is in session
How long will we all keep guessin'?
When you've never been
It's so evident from your grumbling
Man, I wonder when we'll talk
If you wanna talk, take the mask off, we can rock
Shake it off, shake it off, shake it off
One! You can't make me feel this way
Two! You won't make me run away
Can't understand my chemistry
Laugh if that makes me ordinary
You could never stop this feelin'
I've got inside of me
And you could never fill these shoes
'Cause I refuse to lose
I'm just ordinary me
You could never stop this feelin'
I've got inside of me
I'm prepared to let this go
To let everybody know
I'm just ordinary
One! You can't make me feel this way
Two! You won't make me run away
Can't understand my chemistry
Laugh if that makes me ordinary
One! You can't make me feel this way
Two! You won't make me run away
Can't understand my chemistry
I've never been the one to settle
so you can keep your little boxes, keep your little labels
I'll never be the one to sell out
'cause why would I trade so much for, so little
ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, I could go that way but it just ain't me
ooh ooh, ooh, ooh, what you're talking 'bout don't sound like free...dom
I wanna live
I wanna dream
I'm needing so much more than ordinary
set me free
I need to believe
that I was made for more than ordinary
I'm holding out for something better
so you can keep your little trophies, keep your shiny medals
I'll never be the one to fit in your mold
'cause I could follow my dreams or I could do as I'm told
they say
go to school, learn a lot
be a man, get a job
find a house
shut your mouth, this is what it’s all about
you got the feeling, got a reason but you set it down
is it the right time, or the wrong time
to take a step out the boat don't look down
don't tell me where I can go
don't tell me what I can be
this world you've painted is too small for me
I'm hanging onto this life
won't go down with out a fight
Now you've made it up it's all inside your mind.
Now you've given up You don't know what's there if you don't try.
So you've given in along with all of your friends.
And you're still alone.
The means doesn't always justify the end.
Ordinary, ordinary.
A look in the mirror, is not enough.
What makes you think that you're not one of us?
If you make it up and start to use your mind,
it isn't difficult.
City lights shine down upon the place that I call home
Surrounded by a million but I feel like I'm alone
And I might be a nobody to you
But if I'm playing, would you listen?
If you would get to know me
Maybe you would love me
I'm so ordinary
Dragging 'round an old guitar that I can't even play
I fade into your background like a piece of yesterday
I might be a nobody to you
But somewhere they're gonna listen
If you would get to know me
Maybe you would love me
I'm so ordinary
And if you would let me know you
Maybe I would show you
Wouldn't we be something?
Sad the way we always seem to pass by one another
Hiding, so afraid of the things we might discover
Caught up in a moment that only you can live in
You never know who's giving the air that you might breathe in
City lights shine down upon the place that I call home
Surrounded by a million but I feel like I'm alone
And I might be a nobody to you
Don't you know we lost?
Sunk so low, we just called it off
How an ordinary moment gets tossed
A more than ordinary woman's cost
Believe me
Believe me
Thought I understood
Fought to buy the whole neighborhood
You ought to try, "I told you so", it feels good
Bought it high, and sold as low as I could
Believe me
Believe me
It's come undone
Done
It's come undone
Done
Have another look, another look around
Have another look around
I can't stay too long
Can only play a handful of songs
How a melody can make up your mind
Take a memory and leave it behind
Believe me
Believe me
It's come undone
Done
It's come undone
I hear you washed your hands
Turned your back,
Now you've had enough
Because you're too tired
You're getting old
Your time is up
I won't give up my life
All my life
I'll never give in to the ordinary
Life all my life
I never gave in to the ordinary
Does it hurt to live your life for someone else
You want to pin the blame
There's no one to blame except yourself
I won't give up my life
All my life
I'll never give in to the ordinary
Life all my life
I never gave in to the ordinary
You're shut down
Now it's time to settle down
What you're looking for
Didn't turn out to be what you found
Now you fit in to a world
That holds you down
Tell me why
You want to be like everyone else
Just like everyone else
How did I become responsible
Without ever taking responsibility
How did we become so ugly
Without ever changing anything
How do we get to be so ordinary
When did we lose ourselves in conversation
How do we get to be so
How do we get to be so ordinary
And how did you come to find me here
Twist the line, jump the rut to build again
And how did I become the smoking gun
Without ever loading anyone
How do we get to be so ordinary
How did we lose ourselves in conversation
How do we get to be so
How do we get to be so ordinary
What a lover would
I wanna get me some
I know it's alright, babe
I know it's alright, baby
You fear the mountain for the wood
Let you cut it down
You know you hate it
You know you won't shake it now
Wonder what I did
You know you're gonna like it
I know it's the right, babe
I know it's alright now
If you're gonna run
I wanna give you some
I know it's the right, babe
I know it's the right, baby
But how did you come to find me here
How do we get to be so ordinary
When did we lose ourselves in conversation
How do we get to be so
now you've made it up
it's all inside your mind
now you've given up
you don't know what's there if you don't try
so you've given in along with all your friends
and you're still alone
the means don't always justify the end
ordinary, ordinary
a look in the mirror is not enough
what makes you think that you're not one of us?
if you make it up and start to use your mind
it isn't difficult
you don't know what's there if you don't try
All of our friends keep saying we should be more social
Cuz we keep to ourselves most of the time
They just don't understand what we got going on
Cause a love like this is so hard to find
Don't wanna live by no one else's designs
Though every day ain't glamorous
To me it's just fine
Unperfect the way that we are... oh
Nothing ordinary bout the way I feel
Nothing un-extraordinary this is real
Don't need to reach for the stars
Happy here on earth
In our beautiful ordinary life
I love my beautiful ordinary life
With you
Why don't we spend the day
Doing a lot of nothing
Cuz anything s alright, long as I'm with you baby
We don't need special plans, don't need no reservations
Cuz my favorite place is right here with you
Don't wanna live my life any other way
Cuz baby it's the simple things that can't be replaced
Unperfect the way that we are... oh
Nothing ordinary bout the way I feel
Nothing un-extraordinary this is real
Don't need to reach for the stars
Happy here on earth
In our beautiful ordinary life
I love my beautiful ordinary life
With you
Like watching you sleep
The way that you paint your toes
The crazy way we, count to three before we hang up the phone
See the life that I live, is so much better girl when you're here with me
Nothing ordinary bout the way I feel
Nothing un-extraordinary this is real
Don't need to reach for the stars
Happy here on earth
In our beautiful ordinary life
I love my beautiful ordinary life
How to tell, a friend that you've fallen in love
watching her sing on the bow of a boat
How to move, the muscles to open your mouth
To admit to what she's been afraid of
I'm sorry, I know I'm only ordinary, I'm not a star
I apologize, I know this is an unpleasant surprise
You need a star
Can they tell when nobody says a sound
When I'm lying, when I'm shaking
Right beside
A prophet who made up his mind
To keep quiet
Stay silent
I'm sorry, I know I'm only ordinary, I'm not a star
I apologize, I know this is an unpleasant surprise
You need a star
And to love, not to be loved, is the key
And to see, not to be seen, that is me
And to move, not to be moved, is to be free
And to love, not to be loved is the key
And to love (and to love), not to be loved (not to be
loved), is the key
And to see (and to see), not to be seen (not to be
seen), that is me (that is me)
And to move (and to move), not to be moved (not to be
moved), is to be free (is to be free)
And to love (and to love), not to be loved (not to be
loved, is the key)
[Verse 1]
I still run with them same niggas – still run on that same block
Still runnin' from police – still duckin' them same cops
Boy, that two-seater, yeah, you know that Coupe mean
Niggas makin' them false statements,
they don't really know what the truth means
That's alright, that's cool, though, they gon' learn up
And you damn right that's a whole pound, my nigga roll up
'Bout shit – yeah, we be on that boss shit
Niggas had it, couldn't handle it, so it's safe to say that they lost it
Bossip, aw shit, M-O-B, on that mob shit
Talkin' 'bout who you gon' rob, bitch?
I'm fully equipped with this rocket
Nah'mean? It ain't even worth it
Throw my frames on, now that's picture perfect
[Hook]
Them girls wanna party, they gone off that liquor
I'm tellin' them all to come fuck with my niggas
They single, they want what we do, it's so different
Do it so different
Them girls wanna party, they gone off that liquor
I'm tellin' them all to come fuck with my niggas
They say they want what we did, so different
Do it so different
[Verse 2]
Word – my niggas like hoes that like hoes
Arguin' with that desk bitch
Can you imagine what this world could be like
If everyone would find a way to see the brighter side
And you cant seem to find a way to make your life less
ordinary
Because you're stuck doing the same thing every day
You dont know, and it's hard to see
Still I know that
There must be something better than this
There's got to be some other way
If you look inside and try, try to find some peace of
mind
You may find a better way
This world can be so cold when you cant even
Find your place
And everytime around you seems to know you're tired of
Waiting
You dont know, and it's hard to see
Still I know that
There must be something better than this
There's got to be some other way
If you look inside and try, try to find some peace of
mind
You may find, a better way
You may find, a better way
There must be something better than this
There's got to be some other way
There must be something better than this
There's got to be some other way
There must be something better than this
I want the most of what life can give to me
Only the best, a life extrordinairy
But you're so scared, you push you're doubts on me
You put me down, you call me ordinary
Too scared to take a chance yourself, ya critisize everything I do
Though I may fail, well at least I tried
That's more than I can say for you, always ordinary
I don't care what ya think, I'm not ordinary
You know what's best, that's what you say to me
It's good advice, you're looking out for me
I'm not ordinary, I'm not like anyone else
ten spiders crawl
on my walls
i guess that's all
it's just an ordinary day
i don't know when
we'll meet again
i guess it'll be
in an ordinary place
if my heart breaks
will you pick it up
and put in a plastic box
if my heart fails
will you set it straight
and will you be there if i call
i still got you on speed dial
so beautiful
the lines you draw
and the lines that makes up
your ordinary face
through the day
and into the night
through this life
in an ordinary way
if my heart breaks
will you pick it up
and put in a plastic box
if my heart fails
will you set it straight
and will you be there if i call
I saw a vision of you,
(Today)
And I wont do anything to make you feel betrayed,
Cant find the time to look inside,
And realize that I cant hide,
I cant be me unless your there,
this situations so unfair,
I look at you and tell myself,
that your with me and no one else,
you need some help,
if not for you then for myself,
It hard,
(So hard)
To be,
(To be)
Honest with myself,
I need,
(Just need)
Some time,
(Some time)
So I can figure out,
So I wont be ordinary,
Ordinary,
I saw the mystery of you,
(today)
and I dont,
treat everyone and everything that way,
Cant find the time to look inside
And realize that I cant hide,
I cant be me unless your there,
this situations so unfair,
I look at you and tell myself,
that your with me and no one else,
you need some help,
if not for you then for myself,
It hard,
(So hard)
To be,
(To be)
Honest with myself,
I need some time,
So I can figure out,
So I wont be ordinary,
I cant decide,
If Im alright,
I feel inside I need some help,
But Ill deny the things hide,
If not for you then for myself,
If not for you then for myself,
If not for you,
And I know theres better ways to be,
I know its not easy and its hard,
(So hard)
To be,
(To be)
honest with myself,
I need,
(Just need)
Some time,
(Some time)
So I can figure out,
So I wont be,
Ordinary,
So I wont be,
Ordinary,
So I wont be,
Life's not boring it's just ordinary
Like birds at rest inside a sanctuary
Where the ancient meets contemporary
Life's not usual it's ordinary
Life's not futile it's just ordinary
If love is free and substitutionary
Pain is bearable and momentary
Life's not typical it's ordinary
Life's not predictable it's ordinary
The here and now in only temporary
For a futuristic visionary
three wordsalways understood two ways.
a postcard
from somewhere sunny with the name erased.
that leaves you wanting more.
the words are there, but still it's not the same now.
it's not the same as before.
in the end
it could end
in such an ordinary way.
and the years
and the past
give in to ordinary
ordinary days.
a nice way
of saying nothing without empty space.
'cause goodbyes
never have a proper time or place.
and no better time than now.
so the words are said
but still it's not the same somehow
when your world's coming down.
in the end
it could end
in such an ordinary way.
and the years
and the past
give into ordinary
ordinary days.
and what you've found when it's erased.
sometimes fate leaves an empty space.
in the end
it could end
in such an ordinary way.
and the years
and the past
give into ordinary
ordinary
ordinary
ordinary
ordinary days.
White lace bedspread, Monet hanging over my head
Big smile on my face, wine glasses all over the place
Your shirt on my floor, I've never done that before
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Don't it feel so good flying high without a net above the neighborhood?
I love to cross the line
I get a running start and I go five steps at a time
Oh wouldn't it be scary, just being ordinary?
At my church I pray, I had a long talk with the angels today
And they say, listen to me, you gotta be a shepherd, don't be a sheep
Stop sign go away 'cause I ain't stopping for no one today
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Don't it feel so good flying high without a net above the neighborhood?
I love to cross the line
I get a running start and I go five steps at a time
Oh wouldn't it be scary, just being ordinary?
When I was a little girl my momma used to say
You only get one chance in this world, it's a chance you gotta take
And thirty years later here I am and I can't wait
Laa, laa, laa, I can't wait
Don't it feel so good flying high without a net above the neighborhood?
I love to cross the line
I get a running start and I go five steps at a time
Whose eyes am I behind
I don’t recognize anything that I see
Whose skin is this design
I don’t want this to be the way that you see me
I don’t understand anything anymore
In this world that I’m tired of
Is taking me right up these walls
That I climb up
To get to your story
It’s anything but ordinary
And when the world is on its knees with me its fine
And when I come to the rescue I get nothing but left behind
Everybody seems to be getting what they need where's mine
‘Cause your what I need so very but im anything but ordinary
Can you save me from this world of mine
Before I get myself arrested with this expectation
You are the one look what you’ve done
What have you done?
This is not some kind of joke
You’re just a kid
You weren’t ready for what you did
And when the world is on its knees with me its fine
And when I come to the rescue I do it for you time after time
Everybody seems to be getting what they need where's mine
‘Cause you what I need so very but im anything but ordinary
I think im trying to save the world from you
You’ve been saving me too
We could just stay in and save each other
Im anything but ordinary
(ordinary)
Im anything but ordinary
seems so ordinary that we all try to forget our town
shut your eyes and mouths and all that you are left with
is this sound
the nagging hum that aches inside you and it doesn't
quite seem real
but it's hard to understand the little things and
thoughts we feel
I don't want to breath
unless it's through my lungs, tonight
I don't want to see
without my own damn light
i don't want to sleep
until it's by your side
i don't want to go back home
till I'm alright
we were so sincere we fail everything we ever do
cause we're caught in fear and it's the only thing we
ever knew
time to stand up straight, find some ground and get a
better stance
scream and bitch and pull your hair cause you won't get
Unreleased rarity played live
Does it have to get me in the morning (in the morning)
Don't believe there's a face that you can't see
Does it stay all alone (alone)
Don't believe, that it's not you, it's not me, it's not
hope, not free
It's an ordinary day
Got it, you got it, you got it (?)
Ordinary day
Got it, you got it, you got it (?)
Ordinary, ordinary
(From here on the song is hard to hear but most of it
sounds like Raine's just repeating the beginning.)
High, high (?)
Does it have to get me in the morning (in the morning)
Don't believe you to say that you can't see
Does it wait all alone (alone)
Don't believe, that not you, not me, not hope, not
faith
It's an ordinary day
Got it, you got it, you got it (?)
Ordinary day
Got it, you got it, you got it (?)
Ordinary, ordinary
High, high (?)
But we don't want to lose
but it all (?)
(The rest just sounds like Raine is singing la or lu.)
Forty five steps to the liquior store
Just another breakdown that I can't afford but
Can't worry about tomorrow's pain tonight
Alright
Forty five minitues it will all be gone
I'll be strapped to the tap like nothing's wrong but
Can't worry about tomorrow's pain tonight
Alright
These days, these nights are so ordinary
Smoke filled room conversation slow
Just leave me alone with the radio
Can't worry about tomorrow's pain tonight
Alright
End of the tunnel couldn't light my path
Souls warring down still running fast but
Can't worry about tomorrow's pain tonight,
Alright
Possessions never make good friends
You can throw it all away
Freedom is the race to your new beginning
Possessions never made much sense
Confessions never made much sense to me
Well you wake you rub your
eyes Feet hit the floor
but you don't smile
You remember life was not the game
But filled wither bitter prizes
If you're looking for your smile
I'll do that for you
Whe you wake and rub your eyes
Feet hit the floor you run the mile
You remember love was all the same
Never worth your while
If you're looking for your prize
I'll do that for you
I'll do that for you
I'll do that for you
While I drown you in an ugly sea of blankets
I'll do that for you
I'll do that for you
Sometimes my words they miss your ears
Sometimes my thoughts don't come out clear
When all my ordinary fears my only friend
Here we go again
Well you wake you rub your eyes
Cover your ears cause you can't take it
You remember how the day would go
If you're looking for your style
I'll do that for you
I'll do that for you
I'll do that for you
While we dance the dance that ened all the madness
I'll do that for you
I'll do that for you
Sometimes my thoughts don't come out clear
When all my ordinary fears my only friend here we go again...
Well you wak you rub your eyes
feet hit the floor but then you smile
You remember love was not the same
And always worth your while
And I see you found your smile
Friends, the fun, the cigarettes, and the sun came out today
And their waiting for the turn of your back
Lies, deceit, the dirty looks, and the things they like to say
It's the curve that made your confidence crash
Chorus:
This is your life, it's all been ordinary
Until you find all you're worth
Then you find your life is all but something ordinary
And you're longing for home
Your gonna find yourself at home
Bags that hang below your eyes
And the full length mirror never lies
And it all comes so disgustingly clear
But you stand up straight now start to try
And it cleans up right in a suit and tie
But your money is no good around here
(Chorus)
At home, yeah
Find yourself at home
At home
Life and death, the money that's left
And the vultures dive to intercept
And the friendship rolls onto its side
And you wait for it to die
You’ve got a new haircut
New jeans
You’re polished to a tee
You say you did it just for me
How unnecessary
I liked you anyway
But now you’re lost your brains
Where did my boyfriend go?
I think he’s gone insane
I can tell you think you’re such a prince
You’ll never see
You’re ordinary just like me
So ordinary
You could say otherwise
I’ll always recognize
You’re ordinary just like me
So ordinary
You’re walking ‘round this town like you’re a living
dream
I don’t care who you think you are honestly
I know some other girls are prettier than me
But you won’t see me worry
I won’t change a thing
Oh no
I won’t change a thing
I can tell you think you’re such a prince
You’ll never see
You’re ordinary just like me
So ordinary
You could say otherwise
I’ll always recognize
You’re ordinary just like me
So ordinary
I think you’ve lost your mind
Tight jeans, haircut oh please
You’re such a prince but you’re no prince
Friends, the fun, the cigarettes, and the sun came out today
And their waiting for the turn of your back
Lies, deceit, the dirty looks, and the things they like to say
It's the curve that made your confidence crash
Chorus:
This is your life, it's all been ordinary
Until you find all you're worth
Then you find your life is all but something ordinary
And you're longing for home
Your gonna find yourself at home
Bags that hang below your eyes
And the full length mirror never lies
And it all comes so disgustingly clear
But you stand up straight now start to try
And it cleans up right in a suit and tie
But your money is no good around here
(Chorus)
At home, yeah
Find yourself at home
At home
Life and death, the money that's left
And the vultures dive to intercept
And the friendship rolls onto its side
And you wait for it to die
(Chorus)
all right
right on
cowgirl
that song
find something u can sell
then make a war to find it
your told it
so now its true
no buisness
somewhere ordinary yeah ordinary
cast yeah
alright
baby
your rockin tonight
it started out so well
then it goes straight then it folds
your told it
so now its true
no buisness
your so ordinary
get back to
when u were blue
go find her
somewhere ordinary
find somewhere u can go and get away from it all...
your told it
so now its true
no buisness
somewhere ordinary
get back to
when u were blue
go find her
somewhere ordinary
Grabbed my favorite dress but it's so ordinary
So I slashed my jeans
My hairs a mess it's very arbitrary
Pass the scissors please
Shimmy down to my intoxicative shrinking session
Just this side of that street
Glaze into my typical blase expression
Leave it up to him and down to me
He says, "Baby I think you need a long vacation"
I say, "I think a little levitation"
I'm the only one, I'm the only one
Spinning like the barrel of a shotgun
I'm the only one, my ordinary life
Here comes another Friday line
Aren't you prophetic kindly disappear
Won't buy it one more time or pretend to be sympathetic
Gotta hurry out of here
He says, "I think you look a little wasted"
I say, "I like the contact but I just can't taste it"
I'm the only one I'm the only one
Spinning like the barrel of a shotgun
