The Battle of Dong-Yin (東引海戰) was a naval conflict between forces of the Republic of China Navy and the People's Liberation Army Navy around the Dongyin island, Fukien Province, Republic of China on May 1, 1965. Both sides subsequently claimed victory.
Around 040 hours on May 1, 1965, an ROCN Northern Division Dong-jiang class destroyer on patrol northeast of Dong-Yin Island encountered a PLAN force consisting of 8 fast attack gunboats. The PLAN combatants attempted to encircle the ROCN destroyer, and the two sides exchanged fire from a distance of 500 - 1000 yards. In the ensuing exchange, 4 PLAN gunboats were sunk, and 2 damaged.
Dong Dong (simplified Chinese: 董栋; traditional Chinese: 董棟; pinyin: Dǒng Dòng; born 1989-04-13 in Zhengzhou, Henan) is a male Chinese trampoline gymnast who competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics where he won the Bronze medal.
At the 2007 World Championships in Quebec City, he came 2nd in the Individual event. In the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, he won the Bronze medal. Dong won the 2009 World Championships Individual Championship in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Yin Yin Nwe (born c.1952) is a Burmese geologist. She has held important positions with UNICEF since 1991, and was appointed UNICEF Representative to China on 1 December 2006.
Yin Yin Nwe was born to Sao Saimong Mangrai, a member of the princely Kengtung and a highly regarded scholar on Shan State and the Head of the Shan State Education Department during the post-Independence years and Daw Mi Mi Khaing, also a scholar and a former Principal of Kambawza School. Her father, Sao Saimong, had an administrative career after the Shan principalities agreed to become part of the Union of Burma, and was Chief Education Officer for Shan and Kayah States. Her mother was the author of Burmese Family, a book on Burmese culture and was one of the first women to write in English about Burmese culture and traditions. Yin Yin Nwe is of Mon ancestry on her mother's side and of Thai ancestry on her father's side, given that the people of Kengtung originated in the 13th century, when the Chiangmai dynasty founded a new kingdom which was named Lannathai, marking the Kengtung people as separate.
Park Bom (Korean: 박봄, Japanese: パク・ボム) (born March 24, 1984), is a South Korean idol singer. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she eventually moved to the United States where she learned English. She is currently a member and main vocalist of girl-group 2NE1 which is signed to YG Entertainment.
Starting in 2006, Park recorded with labelmates Big Bang, Lexy, Masta Wu and starred with Lee Hyori in her CF, "Anystar" as a co-actress. Later in 2008, she starred as the lead actress in Kim Ji Eun's music video, "Tell Me Once More". In 2009, she debuted with 2NE1 as the main vocalist.
Up till now, Park has released two solo singles, namely "You and I" and "Don't Cry". "You and I" reached number one on the Gaon Chart, the national music chart of Korea. The song also won "Best Digital Single" the Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2010.
Park Bom was born in Seoul, South Korea as a second daughter. In 6th grade, she left Korea by herself to study abroad in the United States. She graduated high school from Gould Academy in Bethel, ME and enrolled into Lesley University with a major in psychology. As a high school student, she fell in love with music through Mariah Carey. She would listen to Mariah Carey's songs during lunch and even forget to eat. She wanted to pursue it as a career but she did not obtain permission from her parents. However, with encouragement from her aunt, she secretly transferred to Berklee College of Music to pursue her music career.
Lee Dong-wook (Hangul: 이동욱; born November 6, 1981), is a South Korean actor who is best known for his leading roles in television dramas My Girl, La Dolce Vita and Scent of a Woman.
Lee studied at Sejong University and Joongbu University.
Making his debut in 1999, Lee had acted in a number of TV series before hitting stardom in 2005 hit romantic comedy My Girl. It also made him a Korean wave star. He has since starred as the male lead in noir La Dolce Vita, lawyer dramedy Partner, melodrama Scent of a Woman and baseball rom-com Wild Romance.
