Ronald Stein (April 12, 1930 – August 15, 1988) was an American film composer.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Stein wrote scores for many low budget horror and exploitation films during the 1950s and 1960s, most of which were released by American International Pictures. These included It Conquered the World, Attack of the Crab Monsters, Invasion of the Saucer Men, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, Hot Rod Gang, The Premature Burial and The Haunted Palace. He also provided scores for major studio productions such as Francis Ford Coppola's The Rain People, and Richard Rush's Getting Straight.
Stein taught composition at California State University, Northridge. Stein also taught composition, arranging, orchestration and theory at the University of Colorado Denver in the mid to late 1980s.
His song "Pigs Go Home" was sampled by rapper Eminem for his song "Guilty Conscience".
Stein died from pancreatic cancer.
The main title is the music, often later recorded on soundtrack albums, that is heard in a film while the opening credits are rolling. It does not refer to music playing from on-screen sources such as radios, as in the original opening credits sequence in Touch of Evil.
A main title can consist of a tune sung by the leading character over the credits, such as Moon River, sung by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, or the main orchestral theme as written by the composer, such as the famous The Pink Panther Theme. It can also be a medley of themes from the film, as in the 1959 Ben-Hur. In the film A Hard Day's Night, the title tune was heard over the opening credits showing the Beatles running from their fans. An overture may serve as a main title, as in The Sound of Music. However, there is a very strong difference in a roadshow theatrical release between an overture and a main title. The overture in such films is heard on pre-recorded tape or film, before the film even begins, while the house lights are still up and there is yet no picture on the screen. The main title begins when the film actually starts. In the case of The Sound of Music though (and also Fiddler on the Roof), no overture was heard before the lights in the theatre went down; therefore, in these cases, the main title did serve as an overture. Both films had pre-credits opening sequences; during these, the first song from the film was sung, and immediately afterwards, the main title music followed.

Ronald is a masculine given name derived from the Old Norse Rögnvaldr. In some cases Ronald is an Anglicised form of the Gaelic Raghnall, a name likewise derived from Rögnvaldr.Ronald was originally used in England and Scotland, where Scandinavian influences were once substantial, although now the name is common throughout the English-speaking world. A short form of Ronald is Ron. Pet forms of Ronald include Roni and Ronnie. A feminine form of Ronald is Ronalda.Rhona, a modern name apparently only dating back to the late nineteenth century, may have originated as a feminine form of Ronald.
Dementia 13 (UK title: The Haunted and the Hunted) is a 1963 horror-thriller released by American International Pictures, starring William Campbell, Patrick Magee, and Luana Anders. The film was written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by Roger Corman. Although Coppola had been involved in at least two nudie films previously, Dementia 13 served as his first mainstream "legitimate," directorial effort.
The plot follows a scheming young woman (Luana Anders) who, while visiting her husband's family castle in Ireland, inadvertently causes his heart attack death. She attempts to have herself written into her rich mother-in-law's will since her husband (Peter Read) has pre-deceased his mother (Ethne Dunn). Her plans are permanently interrupted by an axe-wielding lunatic who begins to stalk and murderously hack away at members of the family.
Corman offered Coppola the chance to direct a low-budget horror film in Ireland with funds left over from Corman's recently completed The Young Racers, on which Coppola had worked as a Sound Technician. The producer wanted a cheap Psycho copy—complete with gothic atmosphere and brutal killings—and Coppola quickly wrote a screenplay in accordance with Corman's requirements. Although he was given total directorial freedom during production, Coppola found himself fighting with Corman after the film was completed. The producer declared the movie unreleasable and demanded several changes be made. Corman eventually brought in another director, Jack Hill, to film additional sequences.
