The Australian Centre for the Moving Image, or ACMI, is dedicated to the moving image in all its forms. It is located in Federation Square, in Melbourne, Australia, across four levels of the Alfred Deakin Building. ACMI is a state-of-the-art facility purpose-built for the preservation, exhibition and promotion of Victorian, Australian and International screen content.
ACMI has two main cinemas that are equipped to play every film, video and digital video format, with the most extensive projection facilities in the southern hemisphere. THX certified sound systems allow high quality attention to acoustics.
ACMI Cinemas present regular weekly and monthly programs:
ACMI also regularly profiles highly acclaimed actors, directors, writers, cinematographers, and film genres through its ‘Focus On’ seasons. Highlights have included seasons on Stanley Kubrick, Jim Jarmusch, Robert De Niro and David Cronenberg. Genres have included Focus on Gypsies and for the release of King Kong, Focus on Monsters.
David Bowie (/ˈboʊ.i/BOH-ee; born David Robert Jones on 8 January 1947) is an English musician, actor, record producer and arranger. A major figure for over four decades in the world of popular music, Bowie is widely regarded as an innovator, particularly for his work in the 1970s. He is known for his distinctive voice and the intellectual depth and eclecticism of his work.
Bowie first caught the eye and ear of the public in July 1969, when his song "Space Oddity" reached the top five of the UK Singles Chart. After a three-year period of experimentation he re-emerged in 1972 during the glam rock era with the flamboyant, androgynousalter ego Ziggy Stardust, spearheaded by the hit single "Starman" and the album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars. Bowie's impact at that time, as described by biographer David Buckley, "challenged the core belief of the rock music of its day" and "created perhaps the biggest cult in popular culture." The relatively short-lived Ziggy persona proved merely one facet of a career marked by continual reinvention, musical innovation and striking visual presentation.

Melbourne is situated in the southern Australian state of Victoria, on the shores of Port Phillip Bay, and is often ranked as one of the world's most livable cities.
The city's main square, Federation Square effortlessly blends edgy, modern design with elegant architecture and is overlooked by the grandeur of St. Paul's Cathedral. 'Fed Square' is also home to Melbourne Visitor Center and the Australian Center of the Moving Image.
Great artworks and an impressive stained-glass ceiling can be seen at the National Gallery of Victoria, while the Bathing Boxes of Brighton Beach comprise one of the country's most photographed landmarks.

Adventures of Prince Achmed - The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI)
Melbourne is a city that takes food seriously, as the fresh produce at Queen Victoria Market shows. The international cuisines brought to Australia by generations of migrants are showcased on famous food strips like Lygon Street and Acland Street.
Visitors can get the best view of Melbourne from the 88th floor of the Eureka Tower. The city panoramas from the observation deck are pure gold.

Entry:
Si no fuera ..."

A fascinating behind-the-scenes look at our Yang Fudong Filmscapes exhibition, which runs from 4 Dec 2014 - 15 Mar 2015 - http://www.acmi.net.au/exhibitions/current/yang-fudong-filmscapes/
Exhibitions Designer Catherine Pyers takes us through the process of creating the installation space, particularly with regards to the lighting and colours used.
