Dolphin swims up to our canoe on Cross Bayou

March 21, 2015 11:00 am.. My daughter and I were canoeing on Cross Bayou here in Pinellas County Florida when a dolphin decided to break from its fishing expedition and check us out. This was a beautiful dolphin who swam right up to our canoe and passed under us looking up. We were caught off guard and eventually realized we should capture this moment on video. The dolphin had seen enough and was getting back to fishing. Enjoy.

Prospecting Panning locating Quartz PL2014 I had the gold pan on hand and took a look up the river only to find a log jam and beaver dam blocking the way. Great weather and bugs not too bad. I found several quartz veins around the lakes and near the campsite. Took a sample and did not see colour. I had a sampled the sand berm by the log jam and saw either pyrite or mica, very sparkly in the bright sun. But no gold. I admit that i spent only an hour trying to pan as this area is not known for gold, but I do know that further north there is fine flour gold north of the French River in Ontario. This video is a river near Parry Pound Ont.

Every once in a while Audrey and I work up enough courage points to try something we never thought we'd do. While in Quebec City celebrating Carnival, what better chance to try ice canoeing for the first time? After bundling up and strapping on ice hockey pads we grabbed our paddles with ice picks and bravely ventured off the shores of the Saint Lawrence River. When we weren't rowing we were scrambling to get one leg outside of the canoe to skate along the ice. Dodging massive sheets of ice and constantly moving conditions meant our adrenaline levels were at an all time high. It was an experience I'll never forget but likely something that is a one off adventure ;) Crazy Adventure Ice Canoeing travel video transcript: All dressed and ready to go? Oh, yeah. Taping them on. So you look a little bit ridiculous. I feel like a robot. And you look like a robot. But these are actually our outfits to go ice canoeing, so we've got special socks, special boots and hockey pads. I'm so excited to try ice canoeing. This is as Canadian as it gets. These are large, medium, small. My shoes. Can you stand up? For a second. Put your feet like this. Like that on the toe. Yeah. So we have a super exciting morning today. We are out here in Quebec City and we are going to be going ice canoeing. All geared up. Practicing in the snow but we're going to be hitting the ice soon. So we officially survived ice canoeing on the Saint Lawrence River. If you can have a look behind me you'll be able to see what exactly we were trying to canoe in. I mean it is a combination of ice, a bit of water, chucks of icebergs. It's crazy! This is part of our Travel in Canada series.
