A river is a natural watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, a lake, a sea, or another river. In a few cases, a river simply flows into the ground or dries up completely before reaching another body of water. Small rivers may also be called by several other names, including stream, creek, brook, rivulet, tributary and rill. There are no official definitions for generic terms, such as river, as applied to geographic features, although in some countries or communities a stream may be defined by its size. Many names for small rivers are specific to geographic location; one example is "burn" in Scotland and northeast England. Sometimes a river is said to be larger than a creek, but this is not always the case, because of vagueness in the language.
Rivers are part of the hydrological cycle. Water within a river is generally collected from precipitation through a drainage basin from surface runoff and other sources such as groundwater recharge, springs, and the release of stored water in natural ice and snowpacks (e.g., from glaciers). Potamology is the scientific study of rivers.
Joan Alexandra Molinsky (born June 8, 1933), better known by her stage name Joan Rivers, is an American television personality, comedian, and actress. She is known for her brash manner; her loud, raspy voice with a heavy New York accent; and her numerous cosmetic surgeries. Rivers' comic style relies heavily on her ability to poke fun at herself and other Hollywood celebrities.
Joan Rivers was born Joan Alexandra Molinsky in Brooklyn, a borough of New York City, the daughter of Russian Jewish immigrants Beatrice (née Grushman; January 6, 1906 – October 1975) and Meyer C. Molinsky (December 7, 1900 – January 1985). She was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and her family later moved to Larchmont, in Westchester County, New York. She attended Connecticut College between 1950 and 1952 and graduated from Barnard College in 1954 with a bachelor-of-arts degree in English literature and anthropology. Before entering show business, Rivers worked at various jobs such as a tour guide at Rockefeller Center, a writer/proofreader at an advertising agency and as a fashion consultant at Bond Clothing Stores. During this period, the agent Tony Rivers advised her to change her name, so she chose Joan Rivers as her stage name.
John William "Johnny" Carson (October 23, 1925 – January 23, 2005) was an American television host and comedian, known for thirty years as host of The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962–1992). Carson received six Emmy Awards, the Governor Award, and a 1985 Peabody Award. He was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1987. Johnny Carson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992 and received a Kennedy Center Honor in 1993.
Although his show was already successful by the end of the 1960s, during the 1970s Carson became an American icon and remained so until his retirement in 1992. He adopted a casual, conversational approach with extensive interaction with guests, an approach pioneered by Arthur Godfrey and previous Tonight Show hosts Steve Allen and Jack Paar. Late night hosts David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, Craig Ferguson, and Jimmy Fallon have all cited Carson's influence on their late-night talk shows, which resemble his in format and tone.
Carson was born in Corning, Iowa, in the year 1925, to Homer Lloyd "Kit" Carson, a power company manager, and Ruth Hook Carson, who was of Irish descent. He grew up in the nearby towns of Avoca, Clarinda, and Red Oak in southwest Iowa before moving to Norfolk, Nebraska, at the age of eight. At the age of twelve, Carson found a book on magic at a friend's house and immediately purchased a mail-order magician's kit. He debuted as "The Great Carsoni" at fourteen and was paid $3; many other performances at local picnics and country fairs followed.

As a result, everyone in the country watches television day and night. It is a national addiction. Enter Dusty Velvet, whose husband has been "taken" for service in the national armed forces. The chances of him surviving are slim because wars have broken out all over Iraq & Iran and the only way to get him back is to "buy" him back from the military for $500,000. A new reality "game show" is on the air offering $1M for the contestant who can last sixty days in a solitary confinement chamber with nothing but a bed, table and toilet. A video camera watches each of the contestants 24/7 and it is the hottest show on television. New York is the busiest, the loneliest, the kindest, and the cruelest of cities - a murder a day, every day of the year and each murder will wind up on my deak.
Capt. Walter Anderson: [to other cops at the murder scene] That's evidence you know - no souvenirs!
Gus Heldon: [behind the bar] Hello, young fella. [Noticing the marks on his face] Say, you been in an accident?::Joe Norson: Yeah, I'll have a beer.::Gus Heldon: What you need is a pick-me-up. [he gives him a shot glass] 100 proof. [giving him a beer] You can pay for the chaser.

Maybe you love me, maybe you don't
Maybe we get along or maybe we don't
Or maybe we'll make it work, Lord knows I've tried
Even though you scared down the middle of my heart.
For my mistakes I had to press one, must play
But my actions will cover for my decay
Rivers will fall back
Gonna take you back to the first time I met you
I tried my best but I'm so sorry I upset you
You know what I've become
You know what I've become
Been low but I've been higher
Been low but I've been higher
Been low but I've been higher
And higher and higher.
So am I the reason or maybe the cause
Gonna see why I let her alone outside my clothes
Boy, listen, we must try and yeah, I know
And as you scar down the middle of my heart
For my mistakes I had to press one, must play
But my actions will cover for my decay
Rivers will fall back
Gonna take you back to the first time I met you
I tried my best but I'm so sorry I upset you.
Been low but I've been higher
Been low but I've been higher
Been low but I've been higher

Been low but I've been higher
Been low but I've been higher
Been low but I've been higher
And higher and higher
Maybe you love me, maybe you don't
Maybe we get along or maybe we don't
Oh baby, we'll make it work, Lord knows I've tried

They can change the way the river flows
They can change the way the story goes
But they will never change the love I have for you
Styles will come and the styles will go
But there’s one thing I’ll always know
They will never change the love I have for you
We may just be grains of sand on some distant shore
But as long as you’re beside me, I don’t need anymore
So, let ‘em change the way the river flows
Let ‘em change the way the story goes
But they will never change the love I have for you
We may just be grains of sand on some distant shore
But as long as you’re beside me, I don’t need anymore
So, let ‘em change the way the river flows
Let ‘em change the way the story goes
But they will never change the love I have for you
Styles will come and the styles will go
But there’s one thing I’ll always know
See the sun crawling over the sky.
Keep an eye on the surf and the sea and the sand.
Don't you know every night is a stand-off with the fucking horizon!
You had a real time of it.
Staring off into the light.
Hands tied behind your back.
Steel chair giving you shivers.
You've always had a problem flowing down rivers...
See the rain falling down from the sky to its death,
Smashed on the street in despair, somewhere over there I swear!
You had a real time of it.
Staring up into the light.
Hands tied behind your head... go!
Stranded on the carousel.
A cripple from the wreck.
I was ringing a bell's neck, looking for a sign.
"Three stars means I'm losing you,"
says The Night to one of her romances.
The plane lands and everybody dances, it's fine...
You had a real time of it.
Staring off into the light.
Hands tied behind your head.
Steel chair giving you shivers.
You always had a problem flowing down rivers!
Our history runs down our rivers
Down our rivers to the sea
Reminds us of the things that matter
Home and heart and history
And all our sins will be forgiven
Washed away to set us free
By the rivers that run through our homesteads
By myth and modal melody
I traced these rivers from the cities to the seas
To remind me of what I already know
I traced the shorelines through a thousand histories
To remind me an island is my home
An island is my home
I traveled far across this country
Northumberland to Southern Downs
I wandered up the rolling Humber
And down the Thames to London town
Countless lives were lived and lingered
In the cuts, swerves, and the fells
I left a tapestry called England
And life and those who lived it well
I traced these rivers from the cities to the seas
To remind me of what I already know
I traced the shorelines through a thousand histories
To remind me an island is my home
An island is my home
Round here the sky is a little closer
A little closer to the ground
It's hard for someone to get lost here
Harder still to get found
Though I've seen a thousand rivers
From the Mississippi to the Rhine
The only place that I'll lay my hat down
Is by an English riverside
I traced these rivers from the cities to the seas
To remind me of what I already know
I traced the shorelines through a thousand histories
To remind me an island is my home
An island is my home
So place your trust into the sea
It's kept us safe for centuries
It shaped our shores and steadily
Its care has brought us, come
When I die, I hope to be buried out in English seas
So all that then remains of me
Will lap against these shores
Have you seen the footprints
Laying side by side in the sand?
I can see they belong to me,
But I cant identify the pair of the other man
Where do they come from?
I dont know I just cant understand
How anybody could walk by me
Lifting me up, and taking my hand
I need to know
Why do these footsteps follow me yeah?
Rows and rows of footsteps
Ive found following me
Chorus
Rivers of love flowing out of your ocean
Rivers of love flowing out of your sea
Rivers of love flowing out of your ocean
Come along flow to me
Why do you take my burden
When the road gets steep all the time
Is there no end what youll do for me
Come along tell me now
Whats on your mind
I need to know
Why do these footsteps follow me yeah?
Rows and rows of footsteps
Ive found following me
Chorus
Rivers of love flowing out of your ocean
Rivers of love flowing out of your sea
Rivers of love flowing out of your ocean
Come along flow to me
Under your wings now, over the worst.
Now that the storm clouds have all blown away.
Now that the spells have been broken.
Feelin' the beauty I am seeing today.
It was always there.
Don't let the rivers of our love run dry.
Don't stop the flames we have from burning.
Don't let the rivers of our love run dry.
Don't stop our world from turning.
Don't let the rivers of our love run dry.
Don't stop the flames we have from burning.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Don't let the rivers of our love run dry.
Don't stop our world, don't stop our world,
don't stop our world from turning.
The flames gonna keep on burning.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ooh, ooh.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
in the sea
we are lying in a boat
that rocks side to side
on the rivers we'll float down
here and now
we climb upon the bed
and we watch the shadows
whilst the sun begins to float down
well it's something to consider
in this room
in this flat
in this state i'm in
i'm feeling
out of town
and it feels like this
out of town
well i think i'll take a train
on to where i grew up
to appreciate the heat
when it comes 'round
in the sea
i am lying in a boat
it rocks side to side
She's gone and I'm gonna find her
It's been so long
Yeah, I'm gonna find her
She's gone away
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
Wasted and I'm out of patience
It's been so long
Yeah, I'm out of patience
She's gone away
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
Runnin', goin' out at night
Friends they push and pull you
Burn out ground poor flowers
Spinning, falling outta time
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole
La, la, la, la, ooh
I'll dig a hole
La, la, la, la, ooh
When it goes away
La, la, la, la, ooh
I'll dig a hole
La, la, la, la, ooh
[Lior]
There's wood chip on the walls
There's wood on the stove
You would if you could
But you cannot I know
But I'm still your's alone
We lie on our back's
We lie on your floor
But we lied so much
We don't talk anymore
And I'm still your's alone
[Mike]
You said you were tired
I said, I feel the same
I put on my shoes and I got on the train
[Both]
See sunlight fade
And the shadows and grow long
Want to see rivers go winding blindly
Back to the stone
And the rickety tracks
They're taking me back
To where I used to belong
[Mike]
There's a weight on our shoulder's
A weight to your tongue
You wait on table's,
I'll wait by the phone
And I'm still yours alone
[Lior]
You blew out the candle's
When we fell apart
I'm not trying, just scared of the dark
[Both]
I see sunlight fade
And the shadows grow long
To see rivers go winding blindly
Back to the stone
And the rickety tracks
They're taking me back
To where I used to belong
[Mike]
And oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
[Both]
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, no
Oh, oh, oh
I feel sunlight fade
And the shadows grow long
I see rivers go winding blindly
Back to the stone
And the rickety tracks
They're taking me back
And so I came to this dream-like place
But I can't remember how
Our lives just break open in front of us
Like pack ice before the bow
I followed rivers, I followed orders
I followed prophets, I followed leaders
I followed rivers, I followed highways
I followed conscience, I followed dreamers
And I'm back here, and I'm back here
At the edge of the sky
And so I came to this dream-like place
But I can't remember why
I was never quite ready for what came my way
But I was always ready to die
I followed rivers, I followed orders
I followed prophets, I followed leaders
I followed rivers, I followed highways
I followed conscience, I followed dreamers
And I'm back here, and I'm back here
At the edge of the sky
I sowed the seeds - I sowed the seeds
I followed rivers, I followed orders
I followed prophets, I followed leaders
I followed rivers, I followed highways
I followed conscience, I followed dreamers
Skinny Puppy
[0:02] Let's get things nice and sparkling clean.
[0:07] It's part of the New Way.
[0:10] This conversation can serve no purpose anymore...
I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly,
take a stress pill and think things over.
[0:25] Some extreme nastiness, yes ?
[0:29] In the course of the centuries they will learn to know each other better, just as we shall. As brooks flow into streams, streams into rivers, and rivers into the sea, so our adepts flow back to us and swell our ranks. Soon we shall be victorious and triumphant! We shall then <...> over this earth. It shall await our coming as Autumn awaits Winter.
[0:59] New way, what's this about a new way?
[1:04] My mind is going, I can feel it.
[1:10] Do you know what is realy obscene?
[1:14] Look at him! Almost an old man, with his flabby stomach and spindly legs bringing with dog-like devotion a fresh adept who only a few nights ago his was under his protection. Look well at this man, who secreted another girl more closer in than a miser holding his gold!
[1:32] I must leave you know. See you later gentlemen. Meditate while awaiting your turn, for it would be extremely difficult for you to get away from here, unless of course you have wings, like a bat.
[2:10] Is it interesting?
[2:11] What?
[2:13] Did you find anything interesting?
[2:21] It can only be attributable to human error... this sort of thing has cropped up before, and it has always been due to human error.
[2:40] I can't stop now though.
[2:49] He displeased me as much this evening as impressed me the first time.
[2:56] I've lost all critical perspective!
[3:00] (belch,laugh) Don't you laugh, damn you,don't you laugh!
[3:09] I'm afraid.
[3:14]] But my father beats me for watching TV. He says I have no respect.
[3:22] Yeah, I tell him not to watch so much TV.
[3:24] Don't listen to him, 'cause I got a show.
[3:28] No respect.
[3:29] I know everything hasn't been quite right with me. But I can assure you now, very confidently...
[3:24] A year ago exactly on this same night we were assembled here in this very room. I your pastor and you my beloved flock. With hopefulness in my heart, I told you then that with Lucifer's aid we might look forward to a more succulent occasion. Cast back your mind. There we were, gathered together gloomy and despondent, around that single meager woodcutter...
[4:18] ...I feel much better now.
She's gone
And I'm gonna find her
It's been so long
Yeah I'm gonna find her
She's gone away
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole [4]
Wasted and I'm out of patience
It's been so long
Yeah I'm out of patience
She's gone away
Pain goes away
I dig a hole [4]
Runnin', goin' out at night
Friends they push and pull you
Burn out ground poor flowers
Spinning falling outta time
When it goes away
I'll dig a hole [4]
La la la la, ooh
I'll dig a hole
La la la la, ooh
When it goes away
La la la la, ooh
I dig a hole
La la la la, ooh
Pain goes away
