"A lot of guys will go on a date, get a tepid kiss on the cheek at the end of night, then lie to all their buddies the next day about how easy she was. A true lover of women will lie the other way. When asked by his friends, “Who was that girl we saw last night? She was cute, what happened? Did she go home with you?” he simply says, “Yes, she is wonderful. We had a great time. I really like her!” “Yeah, but what happened? Did you sleep with her?” “No, we just talked all night and it was good.” That, to me, is true respect. It’s none of their business. Why do men brag about their exploits? I’ve never understood this. I never kiss and tell. Ever. Why? Respect. That’s why. A man usually doesn't have to worry about his reputation, but women do not have this luxury. A key that opens all locks is called a master key, but a lock that can be opened with just about any key is called a broken lock. Men are celebrated and women are judged. An unfair double standard, to be sure, but that’s the way it is. Maybe she doesn’t care about any of this, but I will always err on the side of caution. It is just part of the social construct I have with women. Out of respect for and her reputation, a true lover of women never kisses and tells. Besides, it has been my happy experience that when a women truly believes that her friends, her family, and her co-workers will never find out, well, let’s just say she will open herself in ways that most men have never dreamed. Discretion is incredible. Doors will open that would otherwise remain tightly closed. Oh blissful discretion! Why is it so hard for a man to grasp that if a women knows he is always discreet, that no one will ever know, then she will open herself up to him completely? Sometimes I shake my head. Not that I care if people know, of course. It’s actually a good thing, but it will never come from me. I let her say it, if she is so inclined. If she tells others about our time together, then great! The proper response to a girl who looks up at you and whispers, “Wow, that was amazing!” is to smile and say, “Don’t tell me! Tell all your friends!” A reputation is like scratches on a guitar; the first two or three stand out and alarm us, but a myriad of marks only adds to its charm. I am asked all the time how many lovers I have had. Why on earth would I tell anyone that? What do I have to gain? The admiration, the envy of men? I absolutely do not care what men think of me. A tally, a score, a number? Does it really matter? Quantity does not make a man a lover. The number of women I have been with over the years is irrelevant. Not to me. To you. I remember them all. I have nothing to show. I have nothing to hide. I am ashamed of nothing. My reputation is not something I feel compelled to defend, inflate, or advertise. A lot of wannabe swordsmen like to boast about how legendary they are, parading around, chests out, strutting. Their shiny swords, studded with glass jewels, are purely ceremonial, in faux-gilt scabbards, and displayed proudly at their sides on the parade ground for all to see. Rank amateurs, who get lucky a few times and like to brag about it. True lovers of women don’t care at all what others think. Theirs are swords unsheathed—a little worn perhaps, a few nicks here and there, but well-sharpened, well-oiled, well-trusted, and ever read to spring into the fray!"
