"You know, if I had a rock I would throw it at you right now," Judge Murphy tells Weinstock during the verbal altercation. "Stop pissing me off. Just sit down." The two exchanged words and Judge Murphy allegedly told Weinstock, "If you want to fight, let's go out back and I'll just beat your ass." Weinstock then says "Let's go," and walks out the courtroom. The two men apparently met in a nearby hallway, an area where there are no cameras, and a fight broke out. "The attorney said that immediately upon entering the hallway he was grabbed by the collar and began to be struck," Blaise Trettis, public defender of the 18th Judicial Court. "There was no discussion, no talk, not even time for anything. Just as soon as they're in the hallway, the attorney was grabbed." Trettis told Florida Now Weinstock was struck in the head. The courtroom camera captured audio of the scuffle. During the fight, one man can be heard screaming "You want to f*** with me?" Deputies responded to break up the altercation. The judge returned to the courtroom and finished ruling over court appearances. Judge Murphy was not charged but could be disciplined, according to the report.

Thorpe allegedly stabbed someone at a bus stop. In court today, he said, 'I pleaded not guilty and I don't want this Negro standing next to me. I don't want a Negro standing next to me.' The three most important differences are: 1. You get to choose your private lawyer. If you get a public defender you don't like for whatever reason, you are stuck with him or her. Not all public defenders are bad. Not all private attorneys are good. Your ability to interview and select your lawyer is critical. 2. Attention: public defenders have huge case loads and limited time. Generally, you will meet your public defender the first time you go to court and only see your public defender on court dates for a few minutes as they handle 15- 50 clients. They are not going to investigate or look in to your case until months into the court process, by which time valuable information, witnesses and evidence could be lost. I start investigating and preparing a case at our first meeting, which can change the way the case is resolved. 3. Accessibility: You will have many questions and concerns as the case progresses. When you want to ask questions, you will have a very difficult time getting in touch with a public defender. I generally return phone calls and emails the same day I receive them and I am happy to meet in my office as long as I am not in court. You'll find getting answers to your questions during the court process will alleviate a lot of your stress, concern and confusion. Realistically, there is no comparison. You are much better off with a private attorney to defend you. A detailed and comprehensive examination of the Taurus Judge Public Defender, addressing some of the common misconceptions. In this video, I put the judge to the test to examine claims of accuracy and hitting power. Specific tests include: 1. Comparing the Public Defender against a roughly-comparable .45 ACP Springfield XDS pistol, using same-weight ammo and a chronograph. How fast does the Judge throw 185 grains of Hornady Critical Defense, and how fast does the XDS throw 185 grains of Critical Defense. I also compare 200-grain high-power ammo, Buffalo Bore standard-pressure in the Judge vs Gold Dot +P in the XDS. 2. I put the Public Defender on a Ransom Rest to test its accuracy and get real, quantifiable answers to the question "Is the Judge Accurate or is it Inherently Inaccurate?" Tests are conducted at 7 yards or 21 feet. Part 1 of the review covers the use of the .45 Colt rounds in the Public Defender. Judge John Murphy, a retired military officer, lost his temper and allegedly punched assistant public defender Andrew Weinstock in a courthouse scuffle on Monday. It all began with a verbal confrontation which was captured on the courtroom camera and shared by local media outlets. "You know if I had a rock, I would throw it at you right now," Murphy is heard saying in the video. "Stop pissing me off. Just sit down, I'll take care of it," the judge said, but Weinstock refused to back down. That's when the judge decided to take matters into his own hands...literally. "If you want to fight, let's go out back and I'll just beat your ass," Murphy tells Weinstock. The two men then exit the courtroom, and that's when things got ugly. Murphy allegedly grabbed Weinstock by the collar and started punching him in the head, the public defenders office told local media. Deputies had to intervene to break up the scuffle. Murphy returned to the courtroom where he was greeted with a round of applause from the audience, who heard the entire altercation unfold.
