Elisha ( /ɨˈlaɪʃə/;Hebrew: אֱלִישָׁע, Modern Elisha Tiberian ʼĔlîšāʻ ; "My God is salvation", Greek: Ἐλισσαῖος, Elissaîos or Ἐλισαιέ, Elisaié, Arabic: الْيَسَع Elyasaʻ) is a prophet mentioned in the Hebrew Bible and the Qur'an. His name is commonly transliterated into English as Elisha via Hebrew, Eliseus via Greek and Latin, or Alyasa via Arabic.
Elisha was a prophet of the Northern Kingdom of Israel who was active during the reign of Joram, Jehu, Jehoahaz, and Jehoash (Joash).
Elisha was the son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah; he became the attendant and disciple of Elijah (1 Kings 19:16–19), and after Elijah was taken up into the whirlwind, he was accepted as the leader of the sons of the prophets, and became noted in Israel. He possessed, according to his own request, "a double portion" of Elijah's spirit (2 Kings 2:9); and for sixty years (892–832 BC) held the office of "prophet in Israel" (2 Kings 5:8).
His name first occurs in the command given to Elijah to anoint him as his successor (1 Kings 19:16). After learning, in the cave on Mount Horeb, that Elisha, the son of Shaphat, had been selected by God as his successor in the prophetic office, Elijah set out to make known the Divine will. On his way from Sinai to Damascus, Elijah found Elisha "one of them that were ploughing with twelve yoke of oxen". Elisha delayed only long enough to kill the yoke of oxen, whose flesh he boiled with the very wood of his plough. He went over to him, threw his mantle over Elisha's shoulders, and at once adopted him as a son, investing him with the prophetic office. Elisha accepted this call about four years before the death of Israel's King Ahab. For the next seven or eight years Elisha became Elijah's close attendant until Elijah was taken up into heaven. During all these years we hear nothing of Elisha except in connection with the closing scenes of Elijah's life.

Plot
This is a movie about people caught up in the moment just before a large or small change is about to take place in their lives. A combination of chance and fate delude the protagonists throughout. The movie attempts to describe the life of individuals in contemporary Israeli society, and the almost impossible attempt to simply live one's life. Whether he is a regular citizen or an important "boss", the life of every Israeli is consciously or unconsciously shaped by the national state of affairs. This "state of affairs" filters into his life and into his very being, at times in a destructive and irrevocable manner. Most often, the individual remains unaware of the influence that the big picture - the country suffering tremendous pressures from both inside and outside - has on his personal state of being. This influence resembles a cloud hovering over us while we scurry about on the ground below - like aimless ants who have lost their hill. The movie represents Israel as a country already far beyond identity crises. This is a country where violence is a way of life, and which is governed by the world view of the "stupid, the evil and the corrupt." This is a society reduced to gangs that coalesce and break up according to their needs. Anarchy is everywhere, and the perverse satisfaction of dark urges is taken for granted. The chaos this movie attempts to represent does not lie in the future. This is a world ruled by verbal, spiritual and physical violence, sexual harassment, rape, cunning, theft, arson, assault, eating disorders, cancer, post-trauma, hit-and-run accidents and other ailments. Within the chaos that envelops this perverse urban reality, mere chance appears to be the "organizing principle." On one level, the game of chance is the result of violence being a two-edged sword. On the other hand, it partakes of the typically Israeli reality of chance encounters. The forced intimacy created by these encounters becomes reality due to the power of comradeship and companionship - born of the shared experience of different exigencies and of a language, a place and a given time. Beneath the surface, however, there constantly arise moments of longing, humaneness and compassion. They exist in this world as a kind of potential of which only few realize that it does exist. The same few that mourn the loss of a sense of purpose when the final avalanche of tears erupts at the end of the movie...

A woman was by to see you
She didn't leave a name
She told me that she loved you
And she said, "It's all the same"
She said, she'd just been raining
In meadows where you've been
She said, she was a mirror for you

I still miss them now and then
Out in the middle of nowhere
Gathered around in the barn
Animals all in agreement, they was down on the farm
There was talk of all the boring hours
Standin' around with nothin' to do
It was just another boring evening
With a pail of boring things to chew
There was cows and horses and sheeps and pigs
They was tired of the daily routine
They was plannin' on havin' themselves a bash
Gonna throw a great big wing-ding
So they said 'let's do it, play some rock and roll'
And they got all loose and had a few
And before they knew it, they was out of control
Turned into a regular zoo...
They was tired of the daily routine
Havin' themselves a great big bash
And they was gathering steam
And the pig grabbed a chicken, said
Come on over, let's do-si-do a few
And the chick said 'no, you're covered with mud'
Called him a pig and it was true
And every gol' dang one o'their tails was a waggin'
Under the old horse-shoe
That night the animals fell off the wagon
And a tractor or two
Well they was out in the middle of nowhere
They was rockin' out in the barn
They was tearin' it up in the hayloft

Sometimes I dream of the future
And sometimes I travel down Memory Lane
With the Yesterday Daily Review
Memories carefully kept in a pile
Like newspapers stacked in the corner
To relive my yesterdays once in a while
Although they are faded and worn
They remind me
Once in a while
Of far away places and long ago names
Yesterdays back down the road that you came
Somewhere behind you down Memory Lane
Memory Lane -- down Memory Lane
And when my luck comes to the end of the line
Like old men you see in the subway
I'll thumb through the pages and take my last ride
With the Yesterday Daily Review
Right there beside me
To remind me
Once in a while
Of far away places and long ago names
Yesterdays back down the road that you came
Somewhere behind you down Memory Lane
Down Memory Lane -- down Memory Lane
I'm gonna have my own private party
Gonna invite everyone I know
We'll all have our own personal celebration
I'm gonna send out invitations
To all my friends -- your friends -- and their friends too
We'll all go on a permanent paid vacation
Wouldn't that be fun?
And if anyone asks you I like having fun
I like having fun
Here we go now
Well if I was king I'd sign a proclamation
And if I was president I'd pass a law
And I'd call for a full-blown Senate investigation
Of everyone who wasn't having fun
If something ain't fun why do it?
I'd rather have fun
They say it's gonna get cloudy and storm
And then the weather is fine
And they say it's gonna be partly sunny and warm
And partly cloudy half of the time
And there's all of these rules
Based on all these predictions
Makes it so hard to define
Where do you draw the line?
Seems like fifty percent's about the best you can do
Based on latest projections
Oh, 'cause there's all these laws -- all these rules
But then again there's always exceptions --
To the rules
Amidst all this confusion
Where do you draw the line
Half of the time you are right
You are wrong -- half of the time
You are off -- you are on
Half of the time you are here right now
Half of the time you are gone --
Half of the time
Cause it never ends
It all depends on
Where you draw the line
When half of the time you are right
You are wrong -- half of the time
You are weak -- you are strong
Half of the time you're alone
Half of the time you belong
Half of the time you are here right now
Half of the time you are gone --
Take you to the cinema
and leave you in a Wimpy Bar -
you tell me that we've gone too far -
come running up to me.
Make the scene at Cousin Jack's -
leave him to put the bottles back -
mends his glasses that I cracked -
Well that's one up to me.
Buy a silver cloud to ride -
pack the tennis club inside -
trouser cuffs hung far too wide -
well it was up to me.
Tyres down on your bicycle -
your nose feels feels like an icicle -
the yellow fingered smoky girl
is looking up to me.
Well I'm a common working man
with a half of bitter - bread and jam
and if it pleases me I'll put one on you man -
when the copper fades away.
The rainy season comes to pass -
the day-glo pirate sinks at last -
and if I laughed a bit too fast.
Minutes turn to hours, counting seconds tick away.
Another day tomorrow, tomorrow's just another day.
Days turn into years, and time goes by, over and over,
Again and again, and then, years turn into decades.
Decades. Start another decade, times ten.
Ten decades, one hundred years.
Ten decades. And the first ten started going so much faster,
Than the whole one hundred years before.
And the second ten we started fighting.
We fought the war to end all wars.
So somebody named the twenties roaring,
And in the thirties we fought some more.
And the fighting went on and on (and on);
Nobody could stop it (stop it, stop it)
So somebody built a bomb (bomb);
All you had to do was drop it (drop it), right or wrong.
They dropped it; they dropped it.
And toward the end of the forties, after the storm, I was born.
I am calling, across a field, from far away, far away.
This is my calling song; I am worried, I am concerned.
There are reasons, can't be explained.
And there are questions, that have no answers.
That's the reason I want to know: how long, how long, can this go on?
I want to know how long, how long,
When so many things happen, nothing gets done.
So many wars, no one ever won one, and no one ever will,
No one ever will.
I am calling, this is my calling song.
And the fifties were the best I guess, except for the fighting
And the sixties were unrest, oh yes, we went to the moon.
We had hopes, we had dreams,
And sometimes late at night it still seems like, Camelot.
And the seventies lasted 'til May.
And on the hill, that day, I gave up and started writing Decades.
And the eighties were a waste of time, and here we are, in the nineties!
Nine in a row, one more to go, oh! Over and over, again and again.
One hundred years; ten years times ten.
So many things happened, nothing got done.
So many wars, no one ever won one.
Somewhere out on that horizon
Out beyond the neon lights
I know there must be somethin' better
But there's nowhere else in sight
It's survival in the city
When you live from day to day
City streets don't have much pity
When you're down, that's where you'll stay
In the city, oh, oh.
In the city
I was born here in the city
With my back against the wall
Nothing grows and life ain't very pretty
No one's there to catch you when you fall
Somewhere out on that horizon
Far away from the neon sky
I know there must be somethin' better
And I can't stay another night
In the city, oh, oh.
Is anyone out there?
Does anybody listen or care anymore?
We are living on a dying planet,
We're killing everything that's alive,
And anyone who tries to deny it
Wears a tie
And gets paid to lie
So I wrote these songs for a dying planet,
I'm sorry but I'm telling the truth,
And for everybody trying to save it
These songs are for you, too.
Joe Walsh)
It's time
It's about time we talked
We should -- that would be good
And in time
Maybe in time we'll learn -- to listen
Maybe in time we'll learn to talk
One at a time
When I was younger
The hurry up hunger -- of growin' up
Took up all of our time
And time and time again -- I find
That when everyone talks at the same time
Nothing gets done
In time
I hope that we learn in time
If only we could
That would be good
I'm concerned
One thing I've learned
Now that I'm older
Lookin' over my shoulder
As time goes on and on
When all your time is gone
Oh, all your time is gone
And it's about time we talk
Before we run out of time

Well a good man's getting hard to find these days but there still a few around.
A whole world looks up to a good man, It's hard to keep him down.
So if you're going out looking for a good, good time,
But the boys all turn into clowns,
Focus your attention, don't forget to mention,
No don't forget to mention that the boys just love it when you dish it out.
Easy with the ones you've found.
And your wind up toys keep you busy for awhile until a good man comes around.
Well you can yell and scream, treat them mean, beat them up with words,
Throw them in the face you say. Do this, do that what it is, where it's at, anything to get you your way.
And you change your mood, cop an attitude, take them to the cleaners.
Just because you're steaming, just because you're hot,
Just because all the boys stop talking when you raise your voice.
Your temper ends up on the ground, you don't mean nothing to a good man.
It's hard to keep a good man down, down, down, down.
Well it's hard to keep a good man down.
Go to war, slam doors, have a fit, throw shit, use every little trick you've found.
It don't mean nothing to a good man,
Just because all the boys start shaking when the dishes fly,
Tremble as they crawl on the ground.
Well it's hard to keep a good,
Hard to keep a good man down.
Tomorrow, makin' a list of things to do
And when I wake up, uh uh uh oh
Gonna cross off a few
There must be millions of reasons
To try and explain, you're never through
When they give you twenty-four hours
Only so much a man can do
Tomorrow, made up my mind
Gonna get busy, come from behind
Today I'm staying right where I am
Break a few rules, make a few plans
There's thousand of things
To keep you from doing what you wanna do
And if it isn't this then it's that
Back where it's at, and you're never through
There must be millions of reasons
Thousands of things, just to name a few
I'm gonna spend the rest of today
Makin' a list of things to do
But I'll do 'em all tomorrow, uh uh uh oh
Tomorrow, uh uh uh oh
You lost your color when you painted the town
Paintin' by the numbers
You headed for the lobby, but you never came down
Is it any wonder?
You wind up sittin' in a second hand store
On display in a window
Wind up sittin' in the bottom of a drawer
Any way the wind blows
So you burned your bridges and headed downstream
Never know until you try
Spent your fortune on a river boat queen
Then the river ran dry
You end up sittin' on a sand bar
Down to a handful of treasures
'Nother shot of gold won't get you very far
When you got forever
Any way the wind blows
Any way the wind blows
Any way the wind ...
So you keep on following directions until
Pretty soon you're past it
Guess you shoulda known better, and still
It was fun while it lasted
You end up sittin' in a second hand store
On display in a window
Wind up sittin' in the bottom of a drawer
Any way the wind blows
Any way the wind blows
Any way the wind blows
I grew up in a little town world
Wasn't a lot there to see
Where I was born when a little town girl
Married my dad and had me
We lived in a neighborhood,
In a neighborhood.
And my whole world
Was just three square blocks round,
And the top of the world
Was up in my favorite tree.
Someday I knew,
I would go back there to see
Well that disco thing can sure get funky
All them pretty songs seem too slow
I like to sit and pick with them good ol' boys
Maybe new wave's in, I just don't know
When the critics try to analyse the current trend
I just sit back and watch 'em come and go
Cause I can play that rock and roll
Oh, now I can play that rock and roll
Hey, now I can play that rocking rock and roll
If you, if you wanna party at the next election
Only one way to go
Put on a rocking rock and roll selection
Turn up and vote
And you can check out anytime you want
Just call me Joe
And I can play that rock and roll for ya
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I can play that rock and roll
Yeah, now, now, I, I, I, well, I can play that rock and roll
Well, I can play that rock and roll
I'm the midnight man
I do what I can
To make sure that I am
The midnight man
Midnight man's on time
Everthing is fine
All the words in rhyme
With everything
solo
Midnight man, you're pretty
Midnight man, you're fine
Midnight man, be careful
Midnight man
I've got a driver, you've got a car
Maybe we could go out for a ride
Pass by the schoolyard, take a look around
Stop and get uptight
If you're going to cry
I can remember all the good times
Put 'em in a book of memories
Hoping that our book will never ruin
Hoping that our book will never end
You picked a flower, some time ago
Put it on my desk
At school that day
Thought I would write you
A small love poem
Though I got it from a book, you see
I can remember all the good times
Put 'em in a book of memories
Hoping that our book will never ruin
Hey now, did you make a problem?
Didn't want to solve.
Until you do you do, that's the thing about them,
Still got them, problems.
Seems so small, they can tower over you.
Pile up, build a wall,
Around you, surround you, oh and how.
When you finally think they're through,
So they follow, follow?
I wonder who can solve my problem.
Oh how about them?
Problems can wait,
Problems get solved
Problems relate,
Problems revolve around tense situations,
Tense situations left unresolved.
Something comes up, you get involved.
In justifications of foreign relations that have nothing to do,
No nothing at all with the problem.
Hey now did you ever have one,
Have a problem?
That you could not solve.
What did you do about them?
What did you do?
Did you try and close your eyes?
Put the blame on someone else?
But the problem follows you around and round,
Up and down until it takes up all your time.
Til it starts to bother you, til you start to lose your mind.
Your problems, they love it when you do they do too.
Problems that wait, never get solved.
Problems relate to and problems revolve around tense situations,
Tense situations, left unresolved.
When something comes up and got you involved with contradiction,
Fictional frictions that have nothing to do, no nothing at all with the problem.
Hey now, did you ever have one? Have a problem that you could not solve?
I started out to write you this letter,
But it ended up another song.
I am sorry that the news can't be better, dear John.
When we started out I thought we were different,
We ended up exactly the same.
So in order to protect the innocent,
The names have been changed.
I just got to get back to my music, to my music.
And I know that we both promised forever,
Forever didn't last that long.
Maybe someday I will write you a letter,
Until then at least I wrote you this song, dear John.
I just got to get back my music, and all the things that go along with the job.
And lying in bed with the room spinning round,
It's the price that you pay when you're on the way down,
It's the price that you pay.
Fifteen years of rock and roll,
Fifteen years on the road.
(Can you turn up my guitar a little bit)
Fifteen years my guitar and me,
Played every song we know.
Fifteen years in a row.
I was a young man I used to be but I still can rock and roll.
Fifteen years been good to me,
Fifteen in a row.
Look through the crowd for the folks I know,
Fifteen years on the road.
Fifteen years they have stood by me,
Fifteen in a row.
If it's a show they want, it's a show they'll see here we go.
Fifteen books, fifteen years of old,
Then I hit some luck,
Spent it all on rock and roll, booze, sex, and drugs.
People, look at us now
In the midst of confusion
We lost sight somehow
How, in the name of the planet
I just don't understand it
Look at us now
People, open your eyes
How can everyone see it
And yet be so blind?
And still, still we go on pretending
Nothing is wrong, we don't have that long
Open your eyes
Children, this is your song
In case someday you need one
Long after I'm gone
Please take care of the planet
Like the way that God planned it
And pass it along
Please, take care of the planet
That's the way that God planned it
Pass it along, to your children
I like to listen to music
I like the way that it sounds
On the radio
I like to sit in a silent place
When no one's around
And listen inside it
Inside the silence is a melody
Voices singing harmony
I close my eyes and listen carefully
The silence starts to get loud
It's like your favorite station
Playing your favorite song
Just like they do on the radio
Like they do on the radio
Inside the silence is a symphony
Every note there is in every key
The music tells me how it wants to be
I help it write itself down
I hear the way that would sound
It's like your favorite station
Playing your favorite song
Just like they do on the radio
Like they do on the radio
But the radio isn't on --
I met my baby in a shopping mall.
In a shopping mall.
I asked my baby for her number,
In case I called her up, in case I called her up.
I called my baby on the telephone,
I said, “Hello” on the telephone.
I took my baby to the movies,
Sat in the front row.
Got her some popcorn, bought her some bon bons.
We sat in the front row.
I took my baby out to dinner,
A table just for two, a table just for two.
I took my baby to Las Vegas,
Chartered a private plane.
We took some naps, we shot some crap,
Chartered a private plane.
I took her shopping, next thing I know,
I took my baby to Aspen,
I broke my leg, she fell in love.
I broke my leg,
I catch your reflection though smoke-filled eyes.
Begin my inspection I watch you.
Your smooth syncopation,
You synthesize the beat and the vibration.
There's something about you, your sultry ways
That gives me a shiver.
Your style's so enticing, you wear it well
Completely inviting I watch you.
Chorus:
If I smiled at you would you walk my way?
Would you have this dance with me?
Slow dancing, slow dancing, just you and me.
Those smooth operators prove their lives in anticipation.
Craft emulator of dark designs in fascination.
Floating on a bubble while the world goes down the drain.
Somebody pulled the plug, the dirty dishes still remain.
And when the bubble bursts that's the worst for those who play dirty games.
While the world goes down the drain, down the drain.
Floating on a bubble, slipping on the soap,
Standing in the tub insane.
While the world goes down the drain.
And that's the rub, reality is so hard to explain.
Meanwhile the world goes down the drain, down the drain.
So I'm floating on a bubble while the world goes down the drain.
Slipping on the soap, running out of rope,
But all and all I can't complain,
And that's the rub according to the rules of the game.
The world's going down the drain,
When the bubble bursts you might as well drink the cork and pop the champagne.
I'm actin' different but I'm acting in the same old way.
I'm actin' different, different, but I have not changed.
What can about bright lights?
Dressing room roses, opening night, butterflies...?
I'm actin' different but I'm acting in the same old way.
(Actin' different, different)
I'm actin' different but I'm acting in the same old way
Like an understudy actor in a closed-off Broadway play.
Nothing to say about brightlights, stagefright,
Dressing room roses, opening night, butterflies and champagne...
I'm actin' different but I have not changed
(Never gonna change, never gonna change (rpt))
Ohhh.I haven't changed
I'm actin' different but I'm acting in the same old way (rpt)
Some friends of mine I never met called me the other day
They was gonna have a party and they called me to say
Hey Joe, how ya doin', how's your album, how's your tour
How's Don Henley, how's Glenn Frey,
and who, what where and when and why
They could not shut up (can't shut up)
They couldn't shut up (can't shut up)
So I hung up (can't shut up)
Well I followed their directions and arrived a little late
I had a couple Chardonnays and started feelin' great
I said I hate to interrupt, I'll be right back I gotta pee
30 people in the bathroom started talkin' to me
They could not shut up (can't shut up)
(can't shut up)
I said HEY... shut up (can't shut up)
They could not shut up
Well, just to get out of the bathroom took the rest of the year,
and then a polyester pantsuit named Mandingo grabbed my ear
said I heard you're rich and famous but I don't know who you are
You gotta sign this for my nephew or he won't believe I met you
She just could not shut up (can't shut up)
No, no she could not shut up (can't shut up)
She couldn't shut up (can't shut up)
I said: "Shut up" (can't shut up)
She could not shut up (can't shut up)
She, she, she, she could not shut up (can't shut up)
No, no, no she could not shut up (can't shut up)
She said: "blah, blah, blah" (can't shut up)
I said: "hahahaha, Shut up"
Early birdcall morning
In a milkweed cloudy sky
Sets me free, without a warning
Wonder why
And if my eyes aren't open
And if I'm too blind to see
Would you show me birdcall morning
Set me free
And if you don't want to
I do, you know I do
Sing the song, sing along
It don't matter if you know the tune
That's the way it goes
I don't know, she makes me think I do
Comin' in, she comes again
She breaks ice, but she don't fall through
To the birdcall morning
And then the storm is upon me
And my ship is blown to sea
Would you show me birdcall morning?
You don't understand it
All of a sudden something's wrong
You take it for granted
All of a sudden time is gone
You put a little distance in between it
Hope it makes sense later on
You don't know what happened
Dreams never turn out like you planned
The next moment you wake up
Stranded in a one night stand
You put a little distance in between it
Until you seen it hope that later on
I know it's hard to wait that long
But right now baby
We both agree, something's wrong
Something's wrong
All of a sudden
May be weak and try again
But baby, baby, baby I don't know when
Until then
You put a little distance in between it
Until we seen it
Maybe later on
I know it's hard it seems so long
We both agree, oh baby
I was standin' at the station
Out at the end of the line
Feelin' mad, just a bit impatient
And I wish that you would make up my mind
Yes I was out there on the platform
Pay phone keeps eatin' my dimes
And I still don't have an answer
And the train's leavin' right on time
I'm fallin' down
I'm fallin' down
Standin' at the station
Won the battle
Here I am, standin' at the station
Like a gen'ral just relieved of command
I'm fallin' down
I see the sun rise
Here comes the day
Where sunrise comes from
I am not knowing
I see with stained eyes
Help find my way
It all surrounds me
It is all knowing, flowing
Here we go
I hear a calling
Each one by name
And so many don't hear
They think it's the same old thing
I feel us falling
Back where we came
It all astounds me
Is it a sad thing, bad thing
I don't know
I've got a driver, you've got a car
Maybe we could go out for a ride
Pass by the schoolyard, take a look around
Stop and get uptight
If you're going to cry
I can remember all the good times
Put 'em in a book of memories
Hoping that our book will never ruin
Hoping that our book will never end
You picked a flower, some time ago
Put it on my desk
At school that day
Thought I would write you
A small love poem
Though I got it from a book, you see
I can remember all the good times
Put 'em in a book of memories
Hoping that our book will never ruin
Well I don't know, but I've been told
Two sides to every story
The one is right and the other is wrong
Guess it depends which side your on
'Cause one man's blessing is another man's curse
One man's drink is another man's thirst
One man's pleasure is another man's pain
One man's loss is another man's gain
One man's lie is another man's truth
There's two sides to every story
Well, good guys, bad guys all the same
Good guys win, bad guys get blamed
I don't care what side you're on
You might be right, you might be wrong
And one man's freedom is another man's prison
One man's honor is another man's shame
One man's guilty, one man isn't
There's two sides to every story
One man's heaven is another man's hell
One man's buy is another man's sell
One man's day is another man's night
One man's peace is another one's fight
One man's loss is another one's glory (glory)
There's two sides to every story
There's two sides to every story
Somewhere along the way I found the meaning,
woke up dreamin' along the way.
Never quite seems the same when you awakin',
and makin' up for the time you've such a price to pay,
and then they take the dream away, and it just ain't fair.
Help me thru the night Mama, help me to ease the pain.
Tell me it's alright, help me thru the night once again.
That's the danger in petending,
trying to defend yourself from someone else's war,
don't know what they're fighting for,
and they just don't care.
(Guitar Solo)
So help me see the light mama, open my eyes again.
Tell me it's alright, help me thru the night once again
(Ooos and Aaahs)
Would ya help me,
I like to take things one step at a time
One foot in front of the other
I like to think things will all work out fine
And follow along behind those
One act play-things can give you a thrill
Guess it depends on the actor
Dreams can come true, but some things never will
As a matter of fact, those things are driving me crazy
Those things are keeping me sane
I like to take things and make a design
Keep a low profile. Oh and
I like to take things and put them to rhyme
Like those things that are confusing
And the things that seem so clear
And the things that seem so far away
And yet they seem so near
There are some things I have lost
And a few things I have found
Weel it's so hard to keep track of things
There's so many around
There's so many around
And there's things we have to look for
And a few we never find
And we all have things in common
You got your thing, I've got mine
And some things they just happen
And some things you can plan
And some of those things you just can't help
But some of them you can
Oh, some of them you can
As a matter of fact, those things
Are driving me crazy
Those things are keeping me sane
Some things turn out all wrong
And some things turn out all right
Some things don't turn out at all
But then again they might
There are things that come too soon
And some things that come too late
It's the best thing to come too early
So you have some time to wait
Oh, have some time to wait
Well it's hard to talk with words
There's some things you just can't say
And it's best to leave some things alone
In case they go away
You can share some things with friends
There's some things we've all been thru'
Well it's things like this and things like that
And how are things with you?
Oh, how do you do?
You can hang things on your wall
You can leave your things around
You can mark some things 2001, and put them in the ground
And maybe later on, they will dig them up some day
And ooh and ahh, and 'how 'bout that?'
Lady luck just let you down, she's just another girl
Grins and snickers all around
Imitation pearl, bones
Mass inflation, welfare line... gross economy
Trade it all for what's behind
Curtain number three
Gourmet restaurant, best in town
Don't know what you ate
Fresh last week is still around
Sodium phosphate, bones
Hi-class, jet-set, bourgeois scene
European style
Think they know the way to be
Springtime comes and brings the flowers, oh how new love burns
You and I, we spent the hours, lost to all concern
And now I know where I belong
I'm sorry baby, I was wrong
Autumn came and took the flowers, never to return - good-bye
Took away this love of ours; will we ever learn? Oh-
And now I know where I belong
Stayed up all night waiting, thought that you might call
Half the night debating, seems like after all
You made your mind up
Oh, I guess you made your mind up
Damn these strained relations, makes me want to crawl
Top negotiations, feeling two foot small
Guess you made your mind up
Oh, such a shame to wind up
Staring at the ceiling, bouncing off the wall
But I guess you made your mind up
You and me forever, guess I should have known
Thought we'd be together, wound up all alone
Guess you made your mind up
Oh, such a shame to wind up
Staring at the ceiling, bouncing off the wall
Kind of had a feeling, thought that you might call
But I guess you made your mind up
You made your mind up
You made your mind up
We have just begun
We should feel a part of us that we're leaving
Back home
We have just begun
On the deed that's done to us
All the favours
To be grown
Waiting in a line
Not thinking of the time
We must go out and find
Whatever did we leave behind?
Soon we shall look back
On the past experience I'll remember
That dream
Soon we shall look back
One by one we're finding out all the answers
About home
Waiting on a ???
That we had
Wiping your brow again
Clock keeps twenty past ten
And we're thinking of time going
Wait till tomorrow
Think of today
Think of the days gone by
Bye-bye is too late
Cry, cry is heartache
Bye-bye, the days gone by
In the end we'll see
How much of the party we've missed already
Please tell me
In the end we'll see
Hoping for another chance to hold onto
Forever
Waiting in a line
Not thinking of the time
You must go out and find
Whatever did we leave behind?
And we're thinking of time
Going by
And we're thinking of time
You say it's time to go
But you don't want to leave
Fooling with the keys
I'd like to see the show
But I just don't think it's that easy
But if it's everywhere you look
If it's easy to see
We'll all be floating on a breeze
Bishop takes a rook
It looks like the way back
Is moving the stone
And I was playing out the role of pretender
Trying to get them straight into line
She said she needed me to defend her
Home, home ...
You say you're sitting at the bus stop
Waiting at the gate
Got the ticket in your hand
I'm getting kind of hot
I don't seem to have got what you paid for
And it isn't worth the fuss
But it's looking in the way
You know he doesn't understand
It's not the way you planned out the handout
To pay the band
I was standing in the line with the crazies
Smoking half and drinking the rest
Feeling fine and kind of lazy
Hoping I was passing the test
There's a master plan, or so they say
I'm a patient man. s'il vous plait
And if what you earn, and what you deserve
Isn't worth the price you pay
Save it for a rainy day
I'm a patient man
So you made a wish, on a falling star
That's what you got, Oh
And here you are, like it or not
And the truth is - everyone else
Shares the same cloudy sky
It's so useless, blaming yourself
Heaven knows you try
And if it takes until the rivers run dry
Til the rivers run dry
If it takes until the rest of my life to see why
I'm going to wait until the rivers run dry
Til the rivers run
Save 'em for a rainy day
And if it takes until the rivers run dry
Til the rivers run dry
If it takes until the rest of my life to see why
I'm going to wait until the rivers run dry
Til the rivers run dry
