The album sold only half as well, being certified double platinum in 1997.
Plot
In 994 A.D., Goliath and the few remaining gargoyles help defend the Scottish castle where they live. In exchange the human occupants protect the gargoyles during the day, since they turn to stone from dawn to dusk. The gargoyles are put under a spell, and they remain in stone form for one thousand years. When they wake up they find that their castle has been moved atop a skyscraper in New York city, thanks to billionaire Xanatos. He wants their help, but the gargoyles are leary of treachery. Meanwhile Goliath forms a friendship with Elisa Maza, a police detective who is investigating Xanatos.

Soldier: Taking a castle full of gargoyles near nightfall. This is crazy, and Hakon knows it!::Hakon: No my friend. That's not crazy. Questioning my sanity when I'm in earshot, that's crazy!
Demona: Humanity is our enemy, Goliath. I thought you learned that a millenia ago.
[first lines]::Elisa: Claw marks? What could be strong enough to put claw marks in solid stone?
Plot
In the middle of a battle with the Quarrymen, Goliath blacks out for a moment. When he awakens, he's human and married to Elisa and has two children. Though he's been granted his secret yearnings, there are other unforeseen consequences. He still remembers his life as a gargoyle. Will he choose the life he has or his old life?
In the beginning
(Every thing was new, city lights those subway sounds)
I was a young love
(Fell in love with you)
You looked so beautiful
At the matinee
(On Broadway)
She threw a kiss my way
(Broadway)
I fell in love
(Broadway)
Fell in love, with the leading lady, yeah
Anticipation
(Ran within my mind butterflies were flying high)
After the encore
(Would this be the time)
That love would bring us together
But when the curtain fell
(On Broadway)
The theater was an empty shell
(Broadway)
Tell me where did she go
(On Broadway)
Guess I'll never know, I'll never, never know
So baby, take it to the stage
So we can dance
You and I, a virgin romance
Take it to the stage
Where love began
My imagination, let's make pretend
(I fell in love, oh, whoo)
Well, she stole my heart
And I was so young and I didn't understand it
But I waited and I waited and I waited
To see was, she a widow or out
And come around to marry, yeah, oh, yeah
(Broadway)
Anticipation run in on my mind
(Broadway)
What a weight on my mind, my mind
Broadway
I, I'm just killing time now
I do it all the time now
and it's killing me
I, I polish off the bottle
I'm throwing down the throttle
Drinking gasoline
Now I'm on my way
Driving down Broadway
Wasting all my time
And I won't be late
Cause I'm on the brake(?)
So don't hesitate
Never make it out
And it's killing me
Do, Do you get the feeling?
That you've been bleeded (?)
Cause now you're bleeding me
You, You're spilling all the wine now
On Hollywood and Vine now
It's Lushotology
Now I'm on my way
Driving down Broadway
Wasting all my time
And I won't be late
Cause I'm on the brake(?)
So don't hesitate
Never make it out
and it's killing me
and it's killing me
(awesome guitar stuff)
I, I'm just killing time now
I do it all the time now
and it's killing me
I, I polish off the bottle
I'm throwing down the throttle
Drinking gasoline
Now I'm on my way
Driving down Broadway
Wasting all my time
And I won't be late
Cause I'm on the brake
So don't hesitate

SOUTH PARK'S IN THE MOTHERFUCKIN HOUSE YA'LL
SOUTH PARK'S IN THE MOTHERFUCKIN HOUSE
SOUTH PARK'S IN THE MOTHERFUCKIN HOUSE YA'LL
I wasn't even ready to say goodbye,
It seemed like that kiss lasted forever
But didn't last long enough,
You are the hope that resides in me
I hope this goes well, cause for a long time
I will be living in hell away from you
And I ask myself 'is that something I can do?'
I wasn't even ready to say goodbye,
It seemed like that kiss lasted forever
But didn't last long enough,
We will continue in tune and it will be
Full of the warmth we shared so far
And it wasn't easy to walk into the car
Could you please give me something to hold on to?
Something deep that will remind me of you
With your voice on the phone, I don't feel so alone
I feel you next to me, breathing in your sleep
With your voice on the phone, I don't feel so alone
I feel you next to me, breathing in your sleep
With your voice on the phone, I don't feel so alone
I feel you next to me, breathing in your sleep
With your voice on the phone, I don't feel so alone
I feel you next to me, breathing in your sleep
I wasn't even ready to say goodbye,
It seemed like that kiss lasted (lasted, lasted) forever
But didn't last long enough,
You are the hope that resides in me
(with your voice on the phone, I don't feel so alone
I feel you next to me, breathing in your sleep)
And the next time, I drift off to sleep,
I hope you will be the next thing I see
(with your voice on the phone, I don't feel so alone
It looks like we're close to the end
If this message were ever sent
you'd translate it into every word I never meant
But I won't let you inside my head
You're ever so protective, aren't you?
Baby, is there something that I should know?
And don't you ever, ever think that I
was ever holding back secrets, I've got nothing to hide
So let me grab a chair, to sit back and watch you lie
I'll let karma be the killer, the fall was a bad one
Would've stabbed your heart if you had one
We don't believe in second chances
or second-rate romances
So let's raise a toast to forgetting what we were
No one can save us
My only mistake was
listening to your every word and doing what you said
I'll let karma be the killer, the fall was a bad one
Would've stabbed your heart if you had one
We don't believe in second chances
or second-rate romances
So let's raise a toast to forgetting what we were
Take this into consideration
It looks like we're close to the end
If this message were ever sent
you'd translate it...
Into every word
I never meant
But I won't let you inside my head
I'll let karma be the killer, the fall was a bad one
Would've stabbed your heart if you had one
We don't believe in second chances,
or second-rate romances
So let's raise a toast
I'll let karma be the killer, the fall was a bad one
Would've stabbed your heart if you had one
We don't believe in second chances, or second-rate romances
Honestly, you're so convincing
But your actions are contradicting
"I never should have walked away" you say, and pretend I'm not listening
Did you even have a motive this time?
Well I bet it wasn't better than mine
This photograph will tell me everything I'll ever need to know
When solitude has left you hanging, and all you hear are songs we sang
Then that has to tell you something
Well I guess that if you got it flaunt it
But that's not what you've always wanted
"Come on opportunity's knocking... he'll never know if you close your window"
A little gesture you thought was clever
I know how to act surprised
This by far your worst endeavour
And I can see right through those eyes
At least you made a good attempt
I admire your ambition
You're walking backwards into battle
Without any ammunition
I fire once to show my hand, and then again to get you scared
I'll make you think that you were injured
You should have known I would come prepared
When solitude has left you hanging, and all you hear are songs we sang
Then that has to tell you something
Well I guess that if you got it flaunt it
But that's not what you've always wanted
"Come on opportunity's knocking... he'll never know if you close your window"
If this all a bad dream, then why am I awake?
When solitude has left you hanging, and all you hear are songs we sang
Then that has to tell you something
Well I guess that if you got it flaunt it
But that's not what you've always wanted
I've written a brand new page.
It's easier when you know,
you're going the right way.
Have you ever thought,
that if we just stopped thinking,
we'd get exactly what we want?
What exactly do we want?
Let the record show,
that I've pushed through
to find a new way of seeing and hoping,
and I plan on waking soon.
I've written a brand new page.
It's easier when you know,
you're going the right way.
I just never learn,
it's always the same fork in the road.
And I turn,
without knowing where I want to go.
It's redundant,
but I'm hoping that it lasts.
(Just a little bit longer!)
[2x:]
'Cause the heavier the sleep,
the weaker the reason to think.
And sleepless nights
mean something worth being awake for.
I've written a brand new page.
It's easier when you know,
you're going the right way.
So try your best to finish
your conversations without regret.
'Cause left unsaid,
your soul will start to ache,
from putting up a fake facade.
Just say what you want to say!
[Johnny Craig:]
You're hopelessly bound,
I'm escaping this town.
This train of thinking,
is dragging us down.
Don't tell me what my future is,
if I choose not to live.
[2x:]
It's not enough,
we're breaking up and out of sight.
Just give me some time to think,
and it will be alright.
If it was up to me,
we'd be just fine.
[4x:]
You got a smart mouth,
dripping with that southern charm.
And I'll be sure to make a point of you,
so don't go too far.
Oh, you thought you had me fooled,
when you were spinning tales,
of love and rendezvous.
But I'm over it.
Yeah, I'm over you.
Your hands are still as red
as the lipstick you smeared on me,
so lovingly.
You can't solve all your problems,
cramped up in the backseat.
It's surprising with all your delusions.
You so convincingly give off the illusion
of stable and charming.
Your talent's alarming.
Well, darling,
you're losing your touch.
You thought you had me fooled,
when you were spinning tales,
of love and rendezvous.
But I'm over it.
Yeah, I'm over you.
Take it from me, princess,
you're not the brightest crown in the box.
'Cause lies have a way of reaching the top,
surfacing where you thought that they would stop.
But I've got ears,
and more wit than you do.
You've been caught,
lacking truth.
It's a wonder how you could love anyone else,
(Ian Hunter)
Green lights on Broadway
All the magic seems to say
Come and ride with me baby you know
It's got to be the greatest show on Broadway
Out here on the streets they say
You can see your life in one day
I long I long I long I long I long to hear every single street singer
Oh what a mood that feeling brings
You can capture life in a jar
Chances are that you'll find out on Broadway
Who you really are
Sitting in a lonely room
Staring through the evening gloom
She'll never make the grade on Broadway
She'll never spend exciting nights
Surrounded by a maze of lights
And stars that line the streets on Broadway
Broadway
When the neon lights are shining bright
She knows she's going to make it someday
Broadway
You can hear the music of the night
She knows that she will
Broadway
When the neon lights are shining bright
Oh I know she's going to make it some day
Broadway
You can hear the music of the night
I know that she will
I said
Broadway
Oh how I love you how I love you
Broadway
How I love you how I love you
Broadway
It's your show I know I know
But chances are you'll find out on Broadway
I can't believe anything you wrote down on my skin
The marker's rubbing off
But it stained me from within
You can't keep me here forever
I'm as close as I could be
To finding my own way, and starting to believe
That's the beauty of
Waking up underwater
You don't have to catch your breath (you don't have to catch your)
Standing tall isn't as hard as it seems when you
Have no ground to stand on to
It may take time but your shadow grows
And you'll learn from what you leave behind
And the seeds you sow
Will begin to grow into
Something you can be proud of someday soon
(there's no need to look anywhere else)
If you just listen close enough
You can make out the truth
It's right there inside your head
That's the beauty of
Waking up underwater
You don't have to catch your breath (you don't have to catch your)
Standing tall isn't as hard as it seems when you
Have no ground to stand on to
And I've been sleeping with my eyes open for far too long
It's time I trusted my cold bed not to eat me alive again
I am the waves against your ocean
And the tide has cleaned me out (cleaned me out)
I am the waves against your ocean
And the tide has cleaned me out
I've kicked open this ocean floor grave [x6]
I've kicked open..
Chorus:
Broadway is dark tonight
A little bit weaker than you used to be
Broadway is dark tonight
See the young man sitting
In the old man's bar
Waiting for his turn to die
The cowboy kills the rock star
And Friday night's gone too far
The dim light hides the years
On all the faded girls
Forgotten but not gone
You drink it off your mind
You talk about the world
Like it's someplace that you've been
You see you'd love to run home
But you know you ain't got one
And you're livin' in a world
That you're best forgotten around here
Chorus
You choke down all your anger
Forget your only son
You pray to statues when you sober up for fun
Your anger don't impress me
The world slapped in your face
It always rains like hell on the losers day parade
You see you'd love to run home
But you know you ain't got one
'Cause you're livin' in a world that you're best forgotten
And when you're thinkin' of a joke
And nobody's gonna listen
To the one small point
I know they been missin' round here
Chorus
You see you'd love to run home
But you know you ain't got one
'Cause you're livin' in a world
That you're best forgotten
And if you're thinkin' of a joke
Do you think that they'll listen
To the one small point
I know they been missin' round here
I stood on faith and the corner of ambition
I came here to sink or swim
And to show them all that they were wrong
And though I never thought I'd make it this far
So the curtains are down
For the moment I'm someone
There were those in the wings who waited, who came this way
Now there gone
But there's always someone at home who never forgets who you are
When I'm down and I'm growing old
I won't be along no railroad track
I won't be bound to a life out in the cold
It's been a steady pace to keep my steps between these cracks on Broadway
And my stride in rhythm to the beat of home, sweet home
When I'm down and I'm growing old
I won't be along no railroad track
I won't be bound to a life out in the cold
It's been a steady pace to keep my steps between these cracks on Broadway
And my stride in rhythm to the beat of home, sweet home
Can't go on, I'm on the top of my better years
I'm going home, it's too lonesome on the bottom rung here
It's been a steady pace to keep my steps between these cracks on Broadway
And my stride in rhythm to the beat of home, sweet home
Lonely hearts
Lose the battle every time
Kingdoms start
With the closest of friends
Maybe I will write someday
About how you all helped me
Get to where I am right now
I have you to thank and no one else
It was the last Saturday my eyes would ever see
We were side by side waiting for the sun to pop up over the sea
And I can't remember the last time I was this happy
Captured in pictures
And building castles in the sand
Lonely hearts
Lose the battle every time
Kingdoms start
With the closest of friends
Maybe I will write someday
About how you all helped me
Get to where I am right now
I have you to thank and no one else
Pardon the selfishness
It was passion
We tried to avoid this reaction but
I was honestly a victim of desire
Hope sick in the least, for something tangible
And I'm making it up as I go
Lonely hearts
Lose the battle every time
Kingdoms start
With the closest of friends
Maybe I will write someday
About how you all helped me
Get to where I am right now
I have you to thank and no one else
Take it from me you are the ones who made me open up
Without your trust, without your hearts I wouldn't be singing this right now [x3]
Wherever I go I'll take you with me
This isn't at all unpleasant
I'm enchanted by the lavish ballet
And i'll whistle the tune all the way to the gallows that i heard At the caberet
At the sheriff's signal
the orchestra moves the floor
Don't it make you feel wonderful?
Body twisting strictly ballroom
Criminally elegant
Ideal pastured Viennese waltzer
I'm dressed to kill
I'm weightless and well rehearsed
In my godless opera my character is canonized
Unhand me
This is a musical and nothing goes wrong
Can't keep the classics out of the head of the masachists
Strike up the band
It's 245 beats for a measure or 5 beats per 6 steps on alternating feet
The show must go on
Nevermind the teeth and the fingernails
The show must go on
I don't feel at all like i thought i would
But i could probably go on like this forever
Tonight, we dance, for tomorrow the release the dogs
1, 2, 3. 1, 2, 3
Keep it up
1, 2, 3
Savor it
Where is my head?
Where is my heart?
Just know it's getting easier to breathe.
And I know, what your thinking, its not a waste of
time.
Failed the conformation, from your lips.
You let me know that I, am worth this.
If it's not too much trouble,
Could you stop listing all of the things that could
keep us apart?
Maybe one day when we look back upon this.
We'll sit back and laugh at the things that can
honestly make us doubt.
Lets take our time.
Cause I just know,
That rushing a romance is a guaranteed killer.
That will leave us dead in the wake.
Lets take our time.
Cause I just know,
That rushing a romance is a guaranteed killer.
That will leave us dead in our own wake
[x2]
It's getting kind of hard to take it slow.
When I am up all night thinking about you.
It doesn't even matter how long it takes.
I'd be okay because we'd be together some day.
Waiting and hoping for the next time.
Were together and staying up all night
Waiting and hoping for the next time.
I get to stare into your eyes!
Lets take our time.
Cause I just know,
That rushing a romance is a guaranteed killer.
That will leave us dead in the wake.
Lets take our time.
Cause I just know,
That rushing a romance is a guaranteed killer.
That will leave us dead in our own wake
But they don't understand they try their hardest to
break us apart.
They try to say that we were doomed straight from the
start.
But we know the truth and thats good enough for us.
[x4]
It about time I escape the shallow end of the pool.
This feels like something real.

Wherever I go I'll take you with me
Goodbye
We're facing the same day
over and over
You're repeating yourself
and it's boring me to tears
I would just like to ask
are you owned by your fears?
What happened to the world that moved so fast?
The people in it had to abandon their pasts
just to keep up with the progress
You're hopeless, you lost this
I'm just being honest
All of you deserve this shallow judgment
There's nowhere to go
but up from here
Take your time
Don't bother me with shallow alibis
It's you life and your decision
to do nothing with it
so admit it now
There's nowhere to go
but up from here
[Craig Owens:]
Don't bother me with shallow alibis
And filthy lies
Looking at you I can see right through your eyes
(there's no, there's no,
there's no where left to go)
Goodbye
We're facing the same day
over and over
I've escaped this feeling, it's back
and I know that it's not right
I know that it's not right
There's nowhere to go
Outside just an hour ago, I see it on the corner and the city below, Inside you know we're all alone, But we all need a place to go, I seen it on the corners, And the avenues, Outside you know we'll find a home. When I sing a song about the city tonight, I leave the lights behind, You know it's lost inside, And you know I'm right, I leave the city behind. Outside in the streets below, I've seen it in the faces, And know it's so, In time you know we're on our own, But we all need a place to go, I seen it on the corners and the avenues, Outside you know I'll find a home. We're running down Broadway, And there's no place I'd rather be, When I sing a song about the city tonight, I leave the lights behind, You know it's lost inside, And you know I'm right, And inside you know I'm right, I leave the city behind. We're running down Broadway, And there's no place I'd rather be, When I sing a song about the city tonight, I leave the lights behind, You know it's lost inside, And you know I'm right, And inside you know I'm right, I leave the city behind, Behind, Behind, Behind.
The morning after was the scene
It seemed like the night before was nothing more
Than a bad dream
It felt real, but I couldn't tell
And I ask myself
What is the measure of a man who can't forgive?
It's left up to the weight of his words
And how he lives within...
He's small in character
And resorts in, taking it out on those who deserve a second chance
Well I could never be that way
So I'll leave the past to yesterday
And I'm left with just one question
How do we always get so close
To resolution and just give up
Suddenly, I realized what you've done
And it gets a little harder to say it
Don't let your habits take control
Because eventually they take their toll
But you have to understand
You can't just swing where you choose
Not everyone is willing to forgive you
Please get a hold of yourself before I have to
Walk away for good
(walk away for good)
How do we always gets so close
To resolution and just give up
Suddenly, I realized what you've done
And it's get's a little harder to say it
Don't let your habits take control
Because eventually they take their toll
The habit was the gun
The influence the trigger
And the bullet was your tongue
The habit was the gun
The influence the trigger
And the bullet was your tongue
The bullet was your tongue
(But I didn't buckle from the pain)
The habit was the gun
The influence the trigger
And the bullet was your tongue
The bullet was your tongue
(But I didn't buckle from the pain)
You can't live your life in a coma
Not expecting to wake up one day
In the coffin you built with your bare hands
And think you can just walk away
(And walk away)
You can't live your life in a coma
Not expecting to wake up one day
In the coffin you built with your bare hands
And think you can just walk away
(And walk away)
I've been over this a thousand times before
And still you are in the wrong
Well this is news, this is news to me.
How quick were we to say farewell?
Let's take it back to the time of the accident
if that's even what this was.
Even if all of this never happened
What's it got to do with us?
You know, I never thought you had it in you
But I kinda always heard you were a liar.
Well maybe, oh just maybe, we can get this right.
The beauty of this was so short-lived, lacking purpose and direction.
We're far too close to ever let it go, and you should know.
It looks like my timing's...off.
The beauty of this was so short-lived, lacking purpose and direction.
We're far too close to ever let it go, and you should know.
Separation was all part of my plan.
As cloudy mountain tops turn to palm tree parking lots
I ask myself why I ever bothered to try with you
Nice try,
But talent's a rare game and you're not
Qualified to play.
So pick up all the names you've been dropping
So you don't trip again, don't trip again.
If only the heart could see you as I do
If you keep tripping up that moment might come soon
But then again with your feet stuck in the mud
You might just see the person you've become
Now you can tell it this once
Wake the hell up you thief,
you've been on your knees with real musicians.
Begging for a chance
and it's not too late to find another talent to fake.
You're down on all counts and you can't keep up.
We're faster, stronger, we'll last a little longer than this.
Maybe you should buy your songs from somewhere else.
[x2]
Wake the hell up you thief,
you've been on your knees with real musicians.
Begging for a chance
and it's not too late to find another talent to fake.
I'll let karma take its toll on you.
Don't let it kill you
Meanwhile I'll be trying my best to be original.
To not pilfer the works of the people
Who made me who I am, made me who I am.
So let me set the scene
We've got her sitting at the bar
The others unexpectedly taking orders to her plan
Are not so full swing
What is the hold up
The timing was perfect
Are you afraid make your move
You better hurry out
'cause your victim's coming too
No one will ever know you're gone
Where are you now?
Swear on my life, I will find you somehow
Isabel, so much more
Than we could ever ask for
Don't you just wanna get loved
In what we've given up
Let me save you
Listen to you
Let me save you
Listen to you
No one will ever know you're gone
Where are you now?
Swear on my life, I will find you somehow
Isabel, so much more
Than we could ever ask for
Don't you just wanna get loved
In what we've given up
This is where
We meet back up at our designated place
I hope you'll be there
When you come
Don't you dare have that look upon your face
Just act like you don't care
No one will ever know you're gone
Where are you now?
I swear, I swear, I will find you somehow
Isabel, so much more
Don't you just wanna get loved
I can't believe anything you wrote down on my skin
The marker's rubbing off
But it stained me from within
You can't keep me here forever
I'm as close as I could be
To finding my own way, and starting to believe
That's the beauty of
Waking up underwater
You don't have to catch your breath (you don't have to catch your)
Standing tall isn't as hard as it seems when you
Have no ground to stand on to
It may take time but your shadow grows
And you'll learn from what you leave behind
And the seeds you sow
Will begin to grow into
Something you can be proud of someday soon
(there's no need to look anywhere else)
If you just listen close enough
You can make out the truth
It's right there inside your head
That's the beauty of
Waking up underwater
You don't have to catch your breath (you don't have to catch your)
Standing tall isn't as hard as it seems when you
Have no ground to stand on to
And I've been sleeping with my eyes open for far too long
It's time I trusted my cold bed not to eat me alive again
I am the waves against your ocean
And the tide has cleaned me out (cleaned me out)
I am the waves against your ocean
And the tide has cleaned me out
I've kicked open this ocean floor grave [x6]
A night of awkward silence leaves a swelling in my head
So this will be the last time that I try burning at both ends
A story believable, but I know you all to well
You can say you don't remember, maybe this will ring a bell
Solo artist figurines, and centerfolds in magazines
An alibi that let you down, offended to say the least
Well, I saw how you faked it, and you never made it
So let's start your little game, cause I've already played
So you think you know, but you don't
I know you think you know but you don't
We are but puppets built to sing,
led by amatures with strings I'm not waiting
They did it again, I knew it was them
It's just another disaster I won't be part of
The most insulting words that I've heard
From the lips of who I can't hurt
But the beauty of the twist, is I just can't get enough of this
So you better watch what you say
Cause you're the same way
It's not like you to let me have my way
We'll do this on our own
So you think you know, but you don't
I know you think you know but you don't
We are but puppets built to sing,
led by amatures with strings I'm not waiting
They did it again, I knew it was them
It's just another disaster I won't be part of
Why don't you come out and say it? (just say it)
I know you want to
"Dance, puppet!! Dance, puppet!! Dance puppet!! DANCE!!"
I stood on faith and the corner of ambition
I came here to sink or swim
And to show them all that they were wrong
And though I never thought I'd make it this far
So the curtains are down for the moment I'm someone
There were those in the wings who waited
Who came this way now they're gone
But there's always someone at home
Who never forgets who you are
And when I'm down and I'm growing old
I won't be along no railroad track
I won't be bound to a life out in the cold
It's been a steady pace to keep my steps
Between these cracks on Broadway
And my stride in rhythm
To the beat of home, sweet home
When I'm down and I'm growing old
I won't be along no railroad track
I won't be bound to a life out in the cold
It's been a steady pace to keep my steps
Between these cracks on Broadway
And my stride in rhythm
To the beat of home, sweet home
Can't go on, I'm on the top of my better years
I'm going home, it's too lonesome
On the bottom rung here
It's been a steady pace to keep my steps
Between these cracks on Broadway
And my stride in rhythm
Dear Self
Stop eating your own foot
Try saying something worth listening to
Cause every time you cover up
Your problems you say
"This was the last time
I'll never do it again"
To feel like I
Never really knew you at all
So lets give this some time
And maybe it will resolve itself
(Maybe Maybe)
I'm so tired of
(Maybe We'll be)
Making the same mistakes
I lost myself
So long ago
I hid my sins
Where I thought no one would know
When every time
I look back I see
The person you used to love in me
And it gets so hard
To see
My own reflection sometimes
I'm standing unconscious
And I'm ready to wake up
I hope you brought
some color with you
Cause these lines get grayer from here on out
The Deeper we go!
I lost myself
So long ago
I hid my sins
Where I thought no one would know
When every time
I look back I see
The person you used to love in me
In Me
You can't stop me from making the same mistakes
Can't stop me from making the same mistakes
You can't stop me from making the same mistakes
Making the same mistakes
You can't stop me from making the same mistakes
Can't stop me from making the same mistakes
You can't stop me from making the same mistakes!
(I'm pleading
For just a little more time
To heal myself)
And I'm hoping your still here
As I walk up to your door
In a hotel room just off Times Square it's like a closet
I can watch the dancing class go round
But in a hotel room that costs as much as my apartment
I can watch the working class go down
And it's enough to make a crooked man go straight
Broadway, Broadway
In a hotel room just off Times Square they made a monster
He was unaware of what went down
Fattening him up just like calf before a slaughter
But he'd had his fill of hollow town
And it's enough to make a stupid man think straight
Broadway, Broadway
And it's enough to make a crooked man go straight
Broadway's dark tonight
A little bit weaker than you used to be
Broadway's dark tonight
See the young man sittin' in the old man's bar
Waitin' for his turn to die
The cowboy kills the rock star
And Friday night's gone too far
The dim light hides the years
On all the faded girls
Forgotten but not gone
You drink it off your mind
You talk about the world like it's someplace that you've been
You see, you'd love to run home, but you know you ain't got one
Cuz you're livin' in a world that you're best forgotten, around here
Broadway's dark tonight
A little bit weaker than you used to be
Broadway's dark tonight
See the young man sittin' in the old man's bar
Waitin' for his turn to die
You choke down all your anger
Forget your only son
You pray to statues when you sober up for fun
Your anger don't impress me
The world slapped in your face
It always rains like hell on the loser's day parade
You see, you'd love to run home, but you know you ain't got one
Cuz you're livin' in a world that you're best forgotten
When you're thinkin' you're a joke and nobody's gonna listen
To the one small point I know they've been missing around here
Broadway's dark tonight
A little bit weaker than you used to be
Broadway's dark tonight
See the young man sittin' in the old man's bar
Waitin' for his turn to die
You see, you'd love to run home, but you know you ain't got one
Cuz you're livin' in a world that you're best forgotten
When you're thinkin' you're a joke and nobody's gonna listen
To the one small point I know they've been missing around here
Round here, yeah
Broadway's dark tonight
A little bit weaker than you used to be
Broadway's dark tonight
See the young man sittin' in the old man's bar
(The Clash)
";It ain't my fault
It's 6 'o'clock in the morning";
He said
As he came up out of the night
When he found I had no coins to bum,
He began to testify
Born in a depression
Born out of good luck
Born into misery
- In the back of a truck..
I'm telling you this mister
Don't be put off by looks
I been in the ring and I took those right hooks
Oh the loneliness
Used to knock me out - harder than the rest
And I've worked for breakfast
'N I ain't had no lunch
I been on delivery and received every punch
Suddenly I noticed that it weren't quite the same
Feel different one morning maybe it was the rain
But everywhere I looked all over the city
They're runnin' in an out of the bars
Someone stopped for a pick-up driving one of those cars
Y'see I allways wanted one of those cars
Long black 'n shiny an' pull up to the bars
Honk your horn, put down your windows, push yer button,
Hear it coming in
You can say I can see the light... roll!
Forward! Drive! Green lights! Green lights!
Intersection city coming a running comeback home I run back
Not that strong now
Yes who's there now, can I help you? Calling Intel station light
Did you put your money in? Yes I put it in
It say go, I say go, she say go, so we say go
Cos I can see the light all night tonight this night right now
Coming on forward motion across the ocean
An' up the hills yeh boys let's strike for the hills
While that petrol tank is full
Gimme a push gimme a pull
Gimme a llama gimme a mule
Gimme a donkey or gimme a horse
Down the avenue
So fine
In style
Master Rica
The nicest one should be the one to stay
I could have called you mama
I coud have called you obeses land
But I can't stay
Chaos does a loop
And private Rico
Will save us all some day
I could have called you mama
I coud have called you the promised land
But I can't stay
Oh chaos reigns for us today
I feel I'm losing days
A saint is over you
Broadway, Broadway
Everybody's happy and gay
Where the night is brighter than day
Up along Broadway
Sweethearts and beaus
Dressed up in their Sunday best cloths
On their way to movies and shows
Up along Broadway
Out of town, I'm low down
When I walk along the main street
Anywhere I don't care
I always find a main street just another plain street
Broadway,
Take a little time out to play
Where the joy of living holds way
"It ain't my fault
It's 6 'o'clock in the morning"
