An amateur (French amateur "lover of", from Old French and ultimately from Latin amatorem nom. amator, "lover") is generally considered a person attached to a particular pursuit, study, or science, without pay and often without formal training. Amateurism can be seen in both a negative and positive light. Since amateurs often do not have formal training, some amateur work may be considered sub-par. For example, amateur athletes in sports such as basketball, baseball or football are regarded as having a lower level of ability than professional athletes. On the other hand, an amateur may be in a position to approach a subject with an open mind (as a result of the lack of formal training) and in a financially disinterested manner. An amateur who dabbles in a field out of casual interest rather than as a profession or serious interest, or who possesses a general but superficial interest in any art or a branch of knowledge, is often referred to as a dilettante.
The lack of financial benefit can also be seen as a sign of commitment to an activity; and until the 1970s the Olympic rules required that competitors be amateurs. Receiving payment to participate in an event disqualified an athlete from that event, as in the case of Jim Thorpe. In the Olympics, this rule remains in place for boxing.
Michael Gerard "Mike" Tyson (born June 30, 1966) is a retired American professional boxer. Tyson is a former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world and holds the record as the youngest boxer to win the WBC, WBA and IBF heavyweight titles at 20 years, 4 months and 22 days old. Tyson won his first 19 professional bouts by knockout, with 12 of them occurring in the first round. He won the WBC title in 1986 after defeating Trevor Berbick by a TKO in the second round. In 1987, Tyson added the WBA and IBF titles after defeating James Smith and Tony Tucker. He was the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles, and the only heavyweight to individually unify them.
In 1988, Tyson became the lineal champion when he knocked out Michael Spinks in the first 91 seconds of the fight. Tyson successfully defended the world heavyweight championship nine times, including victories over Larry Holmes and Frank Bruno. Tyson lost his titles to 42-to-1 underdog James "Buster" Douglas on February 11, 1990, in Tokyo, Japan, by a knockout in round 10. Tyson continued in his quest to regain the titles, defeating Donovan Ruddock twice in 1991. Tyson was then scheduled to take on the undisputed heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield but pulled out due to injury.

Go through an audition is harder when you really want it.
You made me feel like i'm ok, i could be happy
Now i can sit, not run away stupidly laughing
Wipe out all self-pity, it's slowing me down
Turn off feeling pretty, dressing up dressing down.
I walk around the city out of my way, looking for something
I've got all that i need to save my day, so why'm i running?
You said i should get professional help, it always makes me cry.
I know i'm just an amateur, but i've gotta try.
I had a birthday party and it was packed, got friends who love me
We hung a disco ball up and watched the lights, they were so lovely
When exactly are we? i get the decades mixed up.
I like the streets when they're empty, i can make the rest up.
Every day is new year's eve, every night is the last night.
I'm told the case is now closed
So I can come to my senses
But when the question is posed
I'll have this meager defense
I was hoping that you'd know better than that
I was hoping but you're an amateur
I was hoping that you'd know better
But I've been wrong before
Despite conclusions I drew
There was a chance you'd surprise me
And you'd be better than you
'Cause I'd have left otherwise
I was hoping that you'd know better than that
I was hoping but you're and amateur
I was hoping that you'd know better
But I've been wrong before
So I wasn't thinking clearly
So you didn't think at all
I thought was protocol
I was hoping that you'd know better than that
I was hoping but you're an amateur
I was hoping that you'd know better
But I've been wrong before
I was hoping that ...
I was hoping but you're an amateur
I was hoping that you'd know better
Back, further back
Janine, just nineteen
Joined a pyramid scheme
Didn't think it mean
To inflate her estate, left it too late
Broke her dreams
Broke her friends
Who said
Courtesy is dead
And now a piece of Vambra
Is looking like Turana
She's banking on the fee
She'll get from ITV
Rethink, refrain
Don't pull a Jill, Jane
Amateur, amateur
Amateur
Kyle, frozen smile, got himself a mobile
Got a house, one wrinkle, couldn't get a signal
Pretty fast, put a mast
On the neighboring flats
A little girl called Jill
Will become very ill
But that is years away
So who gives a hey
Rethink, refrain
Don't pull a Jill, Jane
Amateur, amateur
Amateur
Five star review, who bought a new LP
Had to agree with the critic
Really dug my lyric
Tolerate all the people you hate
When they walk all over you
Ah, baby, what you gonna do
Get a Corinthian view
Wear the pink and blue
Rethink, refrain
Don't pull a Jill, Jane
Amateur
Amateur
Rethink, refrain
Don't pull a Jill, Jane
Amateur
Amateur
Rethink, refrain
Don't pull a Jill, Jane
Amateur
Amateur
Rethink, refrain
Don't pull a Jill, Jane
Amateur, amateur
For you I ascend
Into the sky
Under the roof
Stands the bed and I
For you, a wonderland
For me, a dump
There's an amateur inside you that I love . . .
For you the stars
Rub their eyes and stare
Under cover
Under repair
All the dots of all the colours
Couldn't keep me safe
Since you I've wondered when
I gave up
There's an amateur inside you that I love . . .
All the dots of all the colours
Couldn't keep me safe
Since you I've wondered when
I gave up
There's an amateur inside you
There's an amateur inside you
