Alan Conway: I've shaved off my beard off!
Frank Rich: Well he did say he "shaved off all of his beard off".
Freddie: Is it me or is it The Telegraph crossword?::Madam: Is *what* you or The Telegraph crossword?::Freddie: Getting difficult. Is it getting more difficult to do or is my ability to do it lessening?::Madam: Probably a bit of both.::Freddie: It can't be anal can it?::Madam: No, dear. Not in The Telegraph.
1st boy in bar: Of course, [Kubrick] left his calling card in 2001: A Space Odyssey. But none of us recognised it.::2nd boy in bar: 2001?::1st boy in bar: Yes. HAL, the computer. Camp as a row of tents. Positively Danny Debonair with that voice. That's why he killed the astronaut, wanted to be alone with the other beefcake.::2nd boy in bar: Oh. What's he working on now... Kubrick?::1st boy in bar: He's doing a remake of that Julie Christie film, 'Darling.' She's a boy this time. They wouldn't let John Schlesinger get away with *that* in the 1960s.::2nd boy in bar: Sounds captivating.::1st boy in bar: It is dear. Very captivating. And I've got a rather juicy part in it. It'll be goodbye soaps for moi.::2nd boy in bar: Well... they do say in Hollywood, the only way to the top is through the bottom.
Jasper: When you told me that you lost your limited edition Mont Blanc pen that Tom Cruise had given you, I thought that the very least I could do is to replace it.::Alan Conway: Oh! Jasper, I'm so touched. You are too kind.::Jasper: I'm so pleased that *you* are pleased.::Alan Conway: Look at it! It's wonderful... do you have the receipt?
Alan Conway: I'm only trying to escape myself. That's why I have to pretend to be someone else.
Melvyn: You could be bigger than Elvis!::Norman: Bigger than Jesus, lad!::Melvyn: Can you imagine how big Jesus would be if only he'd played the guitar?

The Independent 2015-03-26Frank Rich (born June 2, 1949) is an American essayist and op-ed columnist who wrote for The New York Times from 1980, when he was appointed its chief theatre critic, until 2011. He held various positions with the Times—-in 1994 he became an op-ed columnist, with his weekly essay appearing in the Sunday Week in Review section starting in April 2005.
On March 1, 2011 it was announced that he would be leaving the Times to become an essayist and editor-at-large for New York magazine starting in June 2011.
Rich grew up in Washington, D.C., and attended public schools. He attended Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. At Harvard, he became the editorial chairman of The Harvard Crimson, the university's daily student newspaper. Rich was an honorary Harvard College scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and received a Henry Russell Shaw Traveling Fellowship. He graduated in 1971 with an A.B. magna cum laude in American history and literature.
Before joining The New York Times in 1980, Rich was a film critic for Time and the New York Post, and film critic and senior editor of New Times Magazine. In the early 1970s, he was a founding editor of the Richmond (Va.) Mercury.
Rachel Anne Maddow (pronounced /ˈmædoʊ/; born April 1, 1973) is an American television host, political commentator, and author. Maddow hosts a nightly television show, The Rachel Maddow Show, on MSNBC. Her syndicated talk radio program of the same name aired on Air America Radio. Maddow is the first openly gay anchor of a prime-time news program in the United States.
Asked about her political views by the Valley Advocate, Maddow replied, "I'm undoubtedly a liberal, which means that I'm in almost total agreement with the Eisenhower-era Republican party platform."
Maddow was born in Castro Valley, California. Her father, Robert B. "Bob" Maddow, is a former United States Air Force captain who resigned his commission the year before her birth and found civilian work as a lawyer for the East Bay Municipal Utility District. Her mother, Elaine Maddow (née Gosse), is a school program administrator from Newfoundland, Canada. She has one older brother, David. Her father is of Russian and Dutch descent and her mother is of English and Irish ancestry. Maddow's mother was raised a strict Roman Catholic, and Maddow herself grew up in a community that her mother has described as "very conservative." Maddow was a competitive athlete and played three sports in high school. Referencing John Hughes films, she describes herself in high school as "a cross between the jock and the antisocial girl."
Armando Giovanni Iannucci ( /ɑrˈmændoʊ jəˈnuːtʃi/; born 28 November 1963) is a Scottishcomedian, satirist, writer, director, performer and radio producer. Born in Glasgow, he studied at Oxford University and left graduate work on a PhD about John Milton to pursue a career in comedy.
Rising quickly through BBC Scotland and BBC Radio 4, his early work with Chris Morris on the radio series On the Hour was transferred to television as The Day Today. A character from this series, Alan Partridge, went on to feature in a number of Iannucci's television and radio programmes including Knowing Me, Knowing You and I'm Alan Partridge. In the meantime, Iannucci also fronted the satirical Armistice review shows and in 2001 created his most personal work, The Armando Iannucci Shows for Channel 4.
Moving back to the BBC in 2005, Iannucci created the political sitcom The Thick of It as well as the spoof documentary Time Trumpet in 2006. Winning funding from the UK Film Council, he directed a critically acclaimed feature film In the Loop featuring characters from The Thick of It in 2009. As a result of these works, he has been described by The Daily Telegraph as "the hardman of political satire". Other works during this period include a operetta libretto, Skin Deep and his radio series Charm Offensive.
