The hour (common symbol: h or hr) is a unit of measurement of time. In modern usage, an hour comprises 60 minutes, or 3,600 seconds. It is approximately 1/24 of a mean solar day.
An hour in the Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) time standard can include a negative or positive leap second, and may therefore have a duration of 3,599 or 3,601 seconds for adjustment purposes.
Although it is not a standard defined by the International System of Units, the hour is a unit accepted for use with SI, represented by the symbol h.
The Middle English word ure first appears in the 13th century, as a loanword from Old French ure, ore, from Latin hora. Hora, in turn, derives from Greek ὥρα ("season, time of day, hour"). In terms of the Proto-Indo-European language, ὥρα is a cognate of English year and is derived from the Proto-Indo-European word *i̯ēro- ("year, summer").
The ure of Middle English and the Anglo-French houre gradually supplanted the Old English nouns tīd (which survives in Modern English as tide) and stund. Stund is the progenitor of stound, which remains an archaic synonym for hour. Stund is related to the Old High German stunta, from Germanic *stundō ("time, interval, while").

i've drunk this moon this sky
from the final glass tonight
i breathe this air one last time
before we slip away
soak up the stars, wilted flowers
from the place i watched endless crumbling hours
this mind this world soon to know
the end of their decay
so we all hold hands and one by one
we'll lead each other down
the spiral staircase clockwork steps
of twisting blind descent
and we think we escape
some maelstrom above
but it's inside
it's us
miserable whirlpool
underground we delve
the hypnotic journey
that should be deep into ourselves
to discover what we always knew
our world above will follow too
utopia's not a dream
as long as it's without us
i never want to see
another bleeding face
i never thought i'd know
the pain that i deserve
but inside i know we'll never learn
if we could we'd start again
then watch it burn
hearts and words
I feel the eyes
All stare at me
Nowhere to hide
They see into my mind
Know they're alive
Look not glazed
Like he who died
In the picture frame
My photo too will be a ghost in time
Ugly thoughts
Betray to them
They see all
All they see
A fool
Kneel on the floor
Take from them
The power held
My whole life shared
Plunge the knife so deep
Bathe in the pool
Turn out the light
Still they stare
Drift into sleep
Meet them there
Thriving on the endlessness
of dream
Running
Footsteps going nowhere
Fall hard into the bed
And wake
I opened not my mouth
everything seems much clearer now
i've reach the seventh sense inside my mind
i'm flying through space
flying through time
flying away from the sapphire
in the lunar sky
slowly i begin to feel nothing
as i approach a distant new world
welcome aboard flight 666
it's time for you to return (kicking, screaming)
a peculiar fear takes hold of you
suddenly things have changed
i'm spinning through space
i'm spinning through time
my head explosions are wasting my mind
slowly i begin to feel nothing
the sapphire has eclipsed the sun
step inside this painting
to see the past
to look behind to see what's catching you
one hundred years from now
only i will live
then he turned into the lizard king
i'm spinning through space
flying through time
my head explosions are wasting my mind
the night sky is falling on me
the sapphire has eclipsed the sun
I found out I was in another town
didn't know they had to send out
I was waiting by the telephone
looking out from the top floor
Now this rain is not something I adore
but I was standing there hoping to open up the door
I looked around
put a hand into my pocket
& found a book that I had lost
I was dressed in black
feeling out of time
just waiting for that shiny caddillac
baby send one out to bring me back
There was no one there to tell me
& I myself I couldn't see
that the hour hadn't come
So it's left with only roses
& an uphill climb in sight
no more dancing in the wasteland
I was too wasted anyhow
I placed one hand on my forehead
I shook the other one and sighed
in the now dead room
& the only child
listen....
No one was there to tell me
& I myself I could not see
Why don't you say what you think of me?
Sometimes I'd like to know
Hate is not to be ignored
It won't just go away
Soon you'll lose control I know
It happened once to me
The hate that you felt yesterday
Is twice as strong today
Let me know your hate is true
Don't be scared, I'm not scared
Let your hatred shine on through
It kicks inside your empty head
But no your silence shines like clouds
Shining shadows on the sand
Your hate is never said but felt
Felt like holes nailed in my hands
You crucify me
a silent crucifixion
You despise me
But words couldn't hurt more
Than your silent conviction
Why don't you show what you think of me?
Sometimes I'd like to see
You can't hold on, just let it go
Remember that it's only me
You don't care you never did
You never will so don't pretend
Your chance to say it won't last long
takes me up so high
alone atop a lush green hill
the wind runs through my face my hair
yes i can feel your presence still
and the harder the rain eats the ground
and the greyer the clouds swallow the sky
and the closer i can get to tears
without getting to the point of crying
i stand with arms outstretched
i stand with no regrets
i'm feeling warm in the cold
and i'm waiting to see where you descend
i'm hungry for that burning hole
and the more the colours are sucked from life
and the more it seems like there is no time
and the louder it al
and the less it makes me feel like trying
and the more i've drunk the night before
and the harder it is just to open my eyes
and the drab and the bleak
and no one speaks
and the harder the rain chews the ground
and the greyer the clouds swallow the sky
and the more my head swims in tears
without getting to the point of crying
and the more the colours are drawn from life
and the less it seems like you're bound by time
and the louder it all and the empty streets
and the closer i am to flying away
away from the stagnant people
content with going nowhere
the specks of dust
pretending to be someone
they all make me feel
as i walk with barefeet
under blades of grass
that apart from you striking me down
and lighting up my sky
all i could do to make the world seem brighter
I looked into your twilight eyes
I could see through your white lies
So I decided late last night
That it was time for me to die
Don't cry, not that you would cry
No don't cry I wouldn't cry for you
And I was twice bitten but no not shy
I looked into your twilight eyes
You were dead but so was I
And I won't meet you in the sky
What was there to live for?
In this dying world of ours?
So cut me up and eat me raw
But now this is my final hour
Why should I have to live
I have nothing for life to give
That's why I'm going to end it all
and blow my brains over the wall
It's over now I can't live on
But the world will thrive now I am gone
Bridges build no turning back
The future now seems very black
There was no one I could turn to
No one except for you
Now your dead and now your cold
And to the devil my heart is sold
Now I'm dead and soon be burned
I've gone now but I'll return
But when I'm gone and you'll be warned
That hell on earth will soon be done
Don't follow me You'll never find me
I'll be hiding in the abyss
