In hospitals, in physicians' offices and even in our homes, these technologies will often improve care, but also will challenge the affordability of care and the survival of hospitals and other community institutions. On Friday, Dec. 17, City Club welcomes Dr. Molly Coye, a national leader in health care quality and innovation, to address current trends in technology development, key implications for the future of health care, and the role of physician leaders in guiding technology planning and adoption. Coye is a former director of California’s and New Jersey’s health departments and founder of HealthTech, a nonprofit research center that tracks and forecasts emerging technologies. She is a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Hospital Association, and a member of the Institute of Medicine, where she co-authored the reports “To Err is Human” and “Crossing the Quality Chasm”, chaired the Committee on Access to Insurance for Children, and co-chaired the Committee on Patient Safety Data Standards.
