Album: Afro Swing Released: February 23, 2009 Momo Wandel Soumah (born 1926) was a singer, composer, and saxophonist from Labé (Guinea), recognisable by his characteristic gravelly voice. Soumah started out in the 1950s playing in dance bands, but moved to modern Guinean music following the cultural revolution. From the mid 1980s Soumah developed an idiosyncratic blend of jazz and African traditional music. He died suddenly on June 15, 2003 in Dixinn, Conakry, Guinea. At the time of his death Soumah was musical director of Circus Baobab.
Are horses cultural? We'll never now...
After the cultural revolution the Chinese people yearned for some form of freedom some sort of narrative that would in many ways give leeway to the suppressed feelings which culture have suffered under Mao. It was a missed blessing and we are still now trying to really capture and grasp the consequences. This past week a New national museum was opened in Beijing which in many ways can illustrate this present and complex scenario. First the curators are Germans in the opening of the Chinese National Museum which sends a clear message of their own insecurities. The construction took 11 years and often interrupted as the party could not agree which path to take. The exhibition is a mix of the Chinese recreation of the history and glories of the Party while worshiping the western ways with the title the celebration of the European Enlightenment. This is dichotomy that is now deep in the modern Chinese zeitgeist. They are unsure which way to go. Perhaps the explanation lies in precisely the lack of any cultural value that was left after Mao. One may agree or disagree with his cultural stands but no one can deny that he had a clear vision Mao The Leader Mao the Sun that shines over China. All that succeeded after that can hardly be expressed in one line or perhaps it can be better described as many have already expressed a lie a fairy tale made of cement glass and steel. The Germans do share with Chinese similar values the worship of order and power. This is a problematic and dangerous mix that history has shown the dire outcomes when the people are subjected to these ideals. The museum is located far from the common people and they will also be far from any contact to the art there presented. The new museum also reflects another Sino German passion for the massive structures to celebrate the conquest of power. The museum architects also Germans have made comments how the Regime main concern was that the museum was built as the biggest as far as the size not the cultural or artistic value. The National Museum is in many ways may best represent the present Chinese modern culture a vast blank space meticulously guarded lavishly built for the few which is likely to remain empty most of the time for except of the selected tours or foreign visitors that may come to admire the new Chinese wealth. Inside the most acclaimed object is described as precious national treasures is the famous Deng's cowboy hat used in a rodeo while visiting the US. Outside one may witness the ever so far reaching and ominous presence of the army with clinically chosen soldiers marching outside the museum in the German designed choreography to display of military order and power now made in China.

Transcript for Video "I feel like this video was very rude and childlike. There are adult/business ways to handle this" - Crystal Crystal. There are adult ways of handling this. You are correct. Blogging on Facebook and Twitter about how I stole her copyright is not one of them. The best thing for Chanel would be for her to drop the issue. "It's time to please stop riding off her success and work on your own things" - Crystal I am not sure what your mother is working on currently that contributes to her success but I can assure you I am not “riding off” your mother’s success in past projects. King’s Journey and Simply Deep Tarot were just a few of many artistic works under my name. I’m recognised as a commercial illustrator outside of tarot too. I’ve created illustrated maps for various tourist locations where millions of people visit each year. I’ve created illustrated commercials for local businesses ranging from candy shops to e-cycling and mini golf . I have my work published in magazines. I’ve recently illustrated characters for a board game. I’ve done with for Archaeological societies. None of these I have earned from mentioning Chanel Bayless. For my tarot work I am working on The Cultural Revolution Tarot where we have over 1,300 people on our fan page with some of our images garnering views of up to 20,000 people. I am working on the much anticipated Twisted Tarot Tales based on the horror comics of the seventies, early eighties, and we’re at the beginning stages of a SplendorMan tarot based on the creepy pasta. King’s Journey is just another of my “children” that Chanel is allowing to die through lack of nurture. I brought it back from the grave, gave it new life and people want to buy it. Chanel wanted to shelve it for an indefinite period of time. If you go to a shop you’re going to find more than one thing. King’s Journey is one of many products that I want out there. I have something for everyone. After Chanel had decided to shelve King’s Journey and not print it anymore, both your mother and I received many emails asking how they could obtain a copy of King’s Journey Tarot. For the most part, no one could find it anywhere because the print run, it would appear, was so limited. Add to that the initial high price and no one wants to part with a very rare and expensive tarot deck. That is the simple truth. We started to get more emails to reprint, including several offers to make King’s Journey into a phone app. I redirected the queries to Chanel but initially she was uninterested in responding to them. But I was, so I decided to bring King’s Journey back to life and this is where we’re at now. Unlike your mother, I do not delete posts which have a different opinion than my own. Therefore your post can stay here Crystal. I created yesterday’s videos simply because your mother refuses me to address her statements publicly. THAT is not professional and quite honestly THAT seems more childish and rude than anything I’ve done. To say that I was uninvolved with a King’s Journey except for the art is unrealistic. My book “The Journey”, which Chanel was happy to include in her Tarot Kit, proves as much. I was very much a part of the creation of King’s Journey going beyond the initial 94 illustrations. Be a good girl and do your homework before you write here on my youtube page.

The Times of India 2015-04-10The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, commonly known as the Cultural Revolution (Chinese: 文化大革命; pinyin: Wénhuà Dàgémìng), was a social-political movement that took place in the People's Republic of China from 1966 through 1976. Set into motion by Mao Zedong, then Chairman of the Communist Party of China, its stated goal was to enforce socialism in the country by removing capitalist, traditional and cultural elements from Chinese society, and to impose Maoist orthodoxy within the Party. The revolution marked the return of Mao Zedong to a position of absolute power after the failed Great Leap Forward. The movement politically paralyzed the country and significantly affected the country economically and socially.
The Revolution was launched in May 1966. Mao alleged that bourgeois elements were infiltrating the government and society at large, aiming to restore capitalism. He insisted that these "revisionists" be removed through violent class struggle. China's youth responded to Mao's appeal by forming Red Guard groups around the country. The movement spread into the military, urban workers, and the Communist Party leadership itself. It resulted in widespread factional struggles in all walks of life. In the top leadership, it led to a mass purge of senior officials who were accused of taking a "capitalist road", most notably Liu Shaoqi and Deng Xiaoping. During the same period Mao's personality cult grew to immense proportions.
Daniel Keenan "Dan" Savage (born October 7, 1964) is an American author, media pundit, journalist and newspaper editor. Savage writes the internationally syndicated relationship and sex advice column Savage Love. Its tone is frank in its discussion of sexuality, often humorous, and hostile to social conservatives and Rick Santorum's views on homosexuality. Savage has clashed with cultural conservatives on the right, and the gay establishment, on the left. He has also worked as a theater director, both under his real name and under the name Keenan Hollahan, using his middle name and his grandmother's maiden name. In 2010, Savage and his husband Terry Miller began the It Gets Better Project to help prevent suicide among LGBT youth.
Dan Savage was born to William and Judy Savage in Chicago, Illinois. He is of Irish ancestry. The third of four children, Savage was raised as a Roman Catholic and attended Quigley Preparatory Seminary North, which he has described as "a Catholic high school in Chicago for boys thinking of becoming priests." Though Savage has stated that he is now "a wishy-washy agnostic" and an atheist, he has said that he still considers himself "culturally Catholic."
