Nigeria: Afrinvest Enhances Online Equity Trading With Mobile App

Afrinvest Securities Limited has demystified equity trading of company shares with the introduction of an online equity trading mobile application, which offers mobile access to brokerage accounts and portfolio data.

The mobile app, which is designed to eliminate all bottlenecks in equity trading, provides lots of opportunities and information for the user, such as market prices of company shares, the availability of shares, the trend in the sales of shares and the opportunity to carryout personal online real-time trading on any company shares, as well as the ability to sell personal shares at the best sell price. The app provides transparency and accuracy in online equity trading, as monies are remitted instantly to a registered account or debited from a register account, as soon as a transaction is completed.

The app, which is locally developed with 100 per cent local content, allows customers to study their investment growth on a daily basis without any fear for loss of money.

Introducing the mobile app in Lagos recently, Managing Director, Afrinvest, Mr. Ike Chioke said the mobile app was introduced to enhance transparency and accountability in online equity trading.

Explaining the choice for the design of mobile app, Chioke said 80 per cent of telecoms subscribers are connected to the internet through smartphones, saying that Nigerian investors are within this category of subscribers and that the mobile app is targeted at providing ease of business to this category of people. According to Chioke, "The mobile app eliminates all manners of complaints emanating from online equity trading, provides customers with share price movement, as well as the best sell price and best buy price. It also provides the price profile of companies, over a period of years."

Demonstrating how the app works, Head, Investment Research at Afrinvest, Mr. Ayodeji Ebo said the customer must first register as a user of the online trading portal - Afrinvestor.com. He however said existing clients of Afrinvest Securities Limited can request for their login credentials by sending an email to afrinvestsecuritiesltd@afrinvest.com, while new clients need only to complete the simple online account opening form and upload required documents at www.afrinvestor.com and begin trading with no minimum account opening balance.

According to him, "The Afrinvestor.com mobile app is available on android phones and could be downloaded from the google app store. Customers can also download the iOS version for iPhone, iPad and iPod on the Apple App Store." The latest innovation follows the launch of the firm's online trading portal - Afrinvestor.com in September 2014.

At the launch of Afrinvestor.com, Managing Director of the company, Charles Egbunonwo, had said, "Afrinvest has always placed a premium on the use of technology as a business enabler, and the introduction of Afrinvestor.com is to empower clients to take more control of their investments, supported by sound investment advice and professional guidance."

Egbunonwo also stated, "With Afrinvestor.com, our clients and investors will not only be able to initiate and execute trades online; they can also view and edit their account information and portfolio performance, access a wealth of in-depth equity research as well as market data and intelligence on companies, key sectors and the broader Nigerian economy, all from the comfort of their homes or offices or on the go."
