A FIRST STEP towards greater heights! Congratulations, guys... that was a very well done show! XD Totally glad that I managed to record their performance in full. For the other bands, it was only short clips before I stopped recording for one reason or another =) But FIRST STEP felt good from the start, and lasted til the end; perhaps it was the kid drummer (shoutout to Fariz, if you see this-- AWESOME drumming there! :)), or perhaps it was the vocalist hitting high-pitch... bottom-line being: It was all good! Congratz, again... and hope to catch you guys in another show soon. All the best for the Grand Finals! Make PENANG Proud!! Fai Klom Thana, a restaurant in Bangkok, serves a marvelous plate of soft shell crab fried with herbs and chilies. Get all the details here: http://www.eatingthaifood.com/2014/08/fai-klom-thana-ptt/ Located in northern Bangkok, pretty close to the massive PTT headquarters, which is the state owned oil company in Thailand, is a restaurant called Fai Klom Thana (ร้านไฟกลมธนา). They mostly make stir fried Thai dishes, sort of Chinese influenced, and everything we ate there was quite tasty. The restaurant attracts many people, especially office workers in the nearby buildings. But although Fai Klom Thana (ร้านไฟกลมธนา) is located right in Bangkok, it’s down a quiet neighborhood street, so it really feels like you’re removed from most of the city - so it’s a nice eating environment. Anyway, we started off with an order of tod man goong (ทอดมันกุ้ง), small shrimp patties, deep fried to a crispy. I’m not usually a huge fan of patties, so these weren’t my favorite - but they were pretty good for what they were. It sort of tasted like a shrimp hot dog to me, which crispy edges - good but not mindblowing. They were served with a sweet dipping sauce that tasted like honey. Next came a plate of kana pla kem (คะน้าปลาเค็ม), Chinese broccoli stir fried with salted fish. This was probably one of my favorite Thai dishes I ordered at Fai Klom Thana (ร้านไฟกลมธนา). The vegetable was stir fried on just the right high fire, so it was cirp and incredibly fresh tasting. The taste of the salted fish contributed nicely to the flavor, and though it was a bit salty, it was extremely tasty. Similar to Thai tom yum soup, but a bit different, tom klong pla chon tod (ต้มโคล้งปลาช่อนทอด), was an amazing dish we ate here. The difference between Thai tom yum soup and tom klong pla chon tod (ต้มโคล้งปลาช่อนทอด), is that the ingredients, namely the herbs and spices are first fried before adding them to the soup in tom klong. Anyway, it was extremely flavorful and I could taste the lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and those wonderfully fragrant deep fried chilies. The soup was sour, spicy, and extremely soothing. Ok, finally let’s move on to the boo neem pad prik tai dam (ปูนิ่มผัดพริกไทยดำ), the soft shell crab dish. I had no intention of ordering soft shell crab, but when I saw it on the menu, there was no way I was going to be able to resist - soft shell crab is one of the finest things to eat. The crab was first deep fried, and then it was stir fried with an array of peppers, onions, green peppercorns, and kaffir lime leaves. The soft shell crab (ปูนิ่ม) was so crispy and so flavorful, and what I especially loved was the amazing flavor of the kaffir lime leaves and the strong pungent flavor of the green peppercorns. If there was only one downside, the boo neem pad prik tai dam (ปูนิ่มผัดพริกไทยดำ) was a bit on the salty side, but it was still marvelous delicious and I would definitely eat it again and again. If you’re ever in the northern part of Bangkok around Chatuchak, Fai Klom Thana (ร้านไฟกลมธนา) is well worth a stop for lunch or dinner. The food hits the spot. Amazing images have been emerged of the moment a mammoth saltwater crocodile shattered a dead sea turtle's shell out on a remote beach in the Northern Territory. Ranger Dani Best first discovered the Olive Ridley Sea Turtle washed up on shore two weeks ago, killed by a ghost net. She cut the endangered species out of the net and placed a wildlife monitoring camera, which captured a number of animals coming in for a free feed. But the footage also showed the powerful pressure of a crocodile's bite as it crushed the outer layer of the turtle in order to gain access to the meaty goods. Ms. Best was collecting rubbish along the coast at Garig Gunak Barlu National Park on the Cobourg Peninsula, east of Darwin, when she found the turtle - also known as the Lepidochelys olivacea. According to Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife, the sea creature is a threatened species. Crocodylus Park owner Grahame Webb told NT News the forceful bite of a crocodile is about three tonnes. 'No other animal on the planet has a comparable bite force to a crocodile,' he said. Ms. Best along with other rangers cut the dead turtle out of the net then planted a camera to film Cobourg wildlife eating the deceased reptile. Among those animals include the saltwater croc and a Beach Stone-curlew, which is a large ground-dwelling bird. Phil Mickelson’s Round 2 lead at 2015 Shell Houston Open While Phil Mickelson conducted a press conference after a nice and tidy round of golf had provided him with the clubhouse lead in the Shell Houston Open — he’d taken only 67 swings, five fewer than par for the Golf Club of Houston course — some strange things were happening behind his back, well out of earshot. The questions being thrown at Mickelson came with the unstated presumption that he’d be the guy to catch on the weekend. That was going to be good for everyone, the ideal scenario. His stature in the game, with his five major titles, three green jackets and 42 PGA Tour victories, is such that people pay a lot more attention when he’s out front, especially with the Masters on deck. But it wasn’t to be. First, PGA Tour rookie Andrew Putnam caught, then passed Mickelson, posting the day’s first best score, a 65, by birdieing six of his last nine holes on the course’s defenseless front side. Then Austin Cook, a survivor of the Monday “four-spotter” playing in the final threesome before they unleashed the lawnmowers. Cook also came in with a 65 to land a spot in Saturday’s imminently desirable last group. Putnam, Mickelson and Cook go off at noon. Collectively, they will have five major titles, three green jackets and 42 PGA Tour victories. Only Mickelson, the 2011 SHO champion, had previously made the cut in Houston. This was Cook’s first try. Putnam got summarily lopped off a year ago, in his big-boy tour debut, putting up a 75 and a 72. When he visited the press room, plopping down in the same cat-bird’s seat occupied by Mickelson 45 minutes earlier, the 26-year-old former Pepperdine University golfer from Spokane, Wash., tried to act nonchalant, fooling nobody. “Solo lead . . . that’s pretty cool,” Putnam said, noting that he’d shared the lead on day in Las Vegas tournament last fall. He admitted he hadn’t seen what happened coming. A 30 for nine holes? Are you kidding? “I haven’t been playing good or scoring well,” Putnam said. “Both have been bad. But (I’m) doing both well this week.” Indeed. At 132, he’s 12-under for the tournament. Next come Mickelson and Cook, both a stroke ahead of Graham DeLaet and Luke Guthrie. The Canadian DeLaet, who was himself the leader of the pack for several holes, put up a second consecutive 67. Guthrie shot 68 on the heels of a first-round 67. Cook’s take on what he’d pulled out of the proverbial hat was more effusive than Putnam’s assessment. “It was unbelievable,” Cook said. “It was great. I’m really, really comfortable with my swing and my game right now and it’s kind of showing.” Six players are in the next group at 135, including 21-year-old Justin Spieth, a career-high fourth in the World Golf Rankings. Mickelson’s august presence notwithstanding, it’s Spieth who looms as the real player to watch over the next 48 hours. Coming in off a tournament victory and a runner-up finish in his last two starts, the sweet-stroking 21-year-old from Dallas shot 66, three strokes better than he had on Friday. But for one errant drive on No. 17, Mickelson could have kept a share of the lead. That goof-up ended up costing him a bogey, cancelling out the shot he’d gained by draining a 25-foot birdie putt that got him to 12-under two holes earlier. “I just blocked it a little bit, not a very good swing,” Mickelson said. “I certainly let that one get away. But I’ve driven it very well this week . . . hit a lot of fairways. My short game has been sharp, too. I’ve hit some good pitches. The putter feels a lot better, but it’s felt better for a while. I’m excited about this weekend.” Mickelson predicted the remaining 36 holes will be “a shootout . . . The golf course is in great shape, as always. It’s a fun tournament and it’s fun to have put myself in a (good) position to have a chance. That’s an important thing for me heading into next week, to get into contention, to feel the pressure. Because the pressure that you feel trying to win the Masters is greater than just about anything we have.” Something Andrew Putman and Austin Cook wouldn’t understand. Yet anyway.

The Troll A platform is a condeep offshore natural gas platform in the Troll gas field off the west coast of Norway. It is the tallest structure that has ever been moved to another position, relative to the surface of the Earth, and is among the largest and most complex engineering projects in history. The platform was a televised sensation when it was towed into the North Sea in 1996, where it is now operated by Statoil. Troll A was built by Norwegian Contractors for Norske Shell, with base construction beginning in July 1991 at a cost of 4150 million NOK, or approximately US$650,000,000 at the time. The base and the deck were built separately, and were joined in 1995 while the base was partially submerged. The base is a Condeep gravity base structure built from reinforced concrete. The Troll platform was towed over 200 kilometres (120 mi) from Vats, in the northern part of Rogaland, to the Troll field, 80 kilometres (50 mi) north-west of Bergen. The tow took seven days.
Subscribe to VICE News here: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE-News The UK government is going ahead with its plans to commence fracking across more than half of the country, hoping that it will boost the economy and provide an abundant supply of natural gas. Critics of the process argue that it contaminates groundwater and damages the environment and public health. A grassroots resistance movement has emerged to fight the introduction of fracking in the UK, and it appears to be gaining momentum throughout the country. VICE News travels to Blackpool, Lancashire, to see the fractivists in action. The seaside resort town is at the center of a David and Goliath battle between local residents and the energy company Cuadrilla over fracking in the region, which is believed to have one of the largest shale gas reserves in the Northern Hemisphere.
