Hidden CCTV cam found in Aquatica changing room
Trouble broke out at – Aquatica – a popular water park in
Rajarhat on Sunday afternoon when a group of women visitors raised alarm after locating a hidden
CCTV camera in the women’s changing room. Though the park management denied women’s claim, the locals joined the women protesters to corroborate that the
CCTV cameras were used in the women’s changing room and the pictures were watched in
a different room. This added fuel to the fire and a part of the park was ransacked by the protesters.
It was learnt that when a woman visitor to the park located the camera and as she inquired from the women security guards about it, one of them went and snapped the electric lines, raising suspicion. Even as the women were protesting some male bouncers arrived at the spot and allegedly misbehaved with the women.
After the protest grew louder, the local police arrived to take stock of the situation. They first seized the CCTV from the changing room but on the insistence of the women protesters the laptops and some other electronic gadgets were also seized.
The police also took some officials of the water park to the police station and detained them.Sharmistha Chakrabarty, one of the protesters said that it was a repeat of a similar incident in Goa recently in which a CCTV camera was found in the changing room of a Fabindia outlet. She said that the management was trying to distort facts.
SP,
South 24, Parganas Praveen Tripathy said that the police have registered a complaint and detained some officials of the water park. The laptops and other equipment were being checked. The SP said that the management claimed that the CCTV was not operational. But that is being verified, the SP said.
