Student Attorneys Anessa Anderson, Nadia Scott, Sharla Weir and Stefan Knights, chose human trafficking as the subject of their Human Rights Law Clinic group project. This topic was chosen because it is a pressing human rights issue within Trinidad & Tobago, and the wider Caribbean, which is often overlooked. The students produced a video project consisting of footage of our the group members, the recordings of two experts, namely Akida Marine the regional Accountant Trafficking Specialist and Allanna Whaler Deputy Director of the Counter Trafficking Unit, and an interview with the Counter TIP Coordinator of the Caribbean Umbrella Body for Restorative Behaviour (CURB), Mr. Adrian Alexander. The recordings were taken on Wednesday 26th November from the radio station ISAAC 98.1 FM. The footage for the video was filmed on Saturday November and Saturday 29th 22nd November, 2014.

United Nations - On the beaches of the twin Caribbean islands of Trinidad and Tobago, turtles have been laying their eggs for millions of years. But in the face of growing threats including hunting for meat, a local villager has taken action to preserve the country's turtle population. Watch how she mobilised her entire community to develop an ecotourism project to save both the turtles and the coastal forests of western Trinidad. The UN Forum on Forests (UNFF) Secretariat partnered with the Global Environment Facility, the UN Environment Programme and the UN Department of Public Information to produce four films highlighting innovative and cross-sectoral sources of financing for sustainable forest management in small island developing states and low forest cover countries. This film is part of the UNFF Facilitative Process which aims to increase forest financing worldwide. For more information visit: unff-fp.un.org

Travel video about destination Trinidad. Located to the south of the Caribbean island of Cuba, Trinidad was founded by the Spaniard, Velazquez and in the 18th century the city experienced great wealth and recognition through the cultivation of sugar cane. The exclusive palaces and villas of the sugar barons still leave their mark on the city with tall wooden gates, barred windows and original roof tiles that characterise the style of bygone days. The Palacio Padron is located on the Plaza Mayor, the centre of the city. A few years ago the palace was lovingly restored in painstaking detail and transformed into an archaeological museum. Around the main square the most beautiful palaces stand in rows and are an impressive indicator of the colonial lifestyle enjoyed by the former sugar aristocracy. The slave trade and the cultivation of sugar cane made the island’s inhabitants incredibly wealthy and Trinidad became the most important cultural and trade centre in the whole of Cuba. The former palace of the Cantero sugar barons now houses the Museo De Historia, an impressive building in the Calle Bolivar in which visitors can marvel at old timepieces, porcelain, furniture and valuable crystal chandeliers. The seven storey Torre De Iznaga rises menacingly into the sky, the bells of which once summoned the plantation slaves to work while watchmen surveyed the valley from above because of the fears of the plantation owners who believed that one day the slaves would rebel against them. Splendid exotic beauty in a land situated between sun and socialism, sugar and cigars, rumba and revolution. In Trinidad it is as though everything is in a state of suspended animation waiting to be kissed awake.
Just a sneak peek of what I recommend to do while you're in Trinidad and Tobago. Some amazing sights, parties, nature, accommodation etc. Enjoy :)
From the http://www.VideoSource.com Global Village Travel Guide and DVD, "Caribbean". Stock footage available from http://videosource.com/search.html Transcript: The musical traditions of the Caribbean run as deep as the cultures that settled here, and the rhythms of calypso and reggae can be felt throughout the islands. Nowhere is calypso more pervasive than in its birthplace of Trinidad. Here, in Trinidad, West African slaves mixed their rhythms with those of the Spanish colonizers to create the Afro-Caribbean blend that is synonymous with dancing and improvisation. Calypso is impromptu story telling and social commentary set to infectious rhythms. The people of Trinidad's irrepressible urge to make music is probably best reflected in the steel drum. Originally fashioned from discarded oil barrels, the steel drum is now one of the most popular instruments in the Caribbean. Their sound is unmistakable, and the steel band is an important part of everyday life. Building and tuning these instruments is a painstaking tradition that is passed down from one generation to the next. In some cases, drum tuning has even entered the computer age... Every drum has a different pitch, and when several are played together the steel band comes alive. Calypso achieves its highest expression in the visual and musical spectacle of Carnival. Carnival is celebrated more lavishly in Trinidad than anywhere else in the Caribbean. It is a non-stop party for two days before Ash Wednesday, and the locals plan for it all year. The festivity is carefully organized, with 15 to 20 clubs competing for the best costumes. Bands represent each club, and the people parade in costumes ranging from African tribal attire to serpents to dazzling butterflies. It is a sensual and high-spirited celebration of life.

http://www.TravelBookMix.com This is the summary of Diving & Snorkeling Trinidad & Tobago (Lonely Planet Diving and Snorkeling Guides) by Lawson Wood.
The beauty of the nature of Tobago once inspired Daniel Defoe to let his famous castaway Robinson Crusoe land there. The island appeared to the hero as a planted Garden of Eden, and it is still impressive today. The rainforest of Tobago is the oldest virgin rainforest in the western hemisphere. Arawak people were the first settlers on the island (1st century). Later the Caribs came from South America. The name chistopher columbus gave the island in 1498 was Bellaforma, later it became the name Tobago from Tobacco, which was growm on the island. Tobago was colnised by the British Empire. With the colonization different plants come to the island, such as coco plams and sugar cane. Plantations of these plants were driven with the labour force of slaves until the abolishment of slavery in 1833. The island state Trinidad and Tobago belongs geographycally to South America, because of its nature. At the end of the last ice age melting glaciers caused the sea level to raise turning Trinindad and Tobago into island. Ian Flemming, the author of the famous James Bond films, wrote some of the James Bond adventures here. The documentation shows also the different fishing methods of the tobagonians. Some still fish in a very traditional manner by throwing the fishing nets into the sea and pull them back on the beach. The locals sell the fish at the market in Scarborough. Liming ist the tobagonian art of doing nothing. People get together, drink and play cards. And of course music plays an important role on the village. Every Sunday the village of baku holds its Sunday school, a huge street party featuring bands playing the steelpan.

Trinidad & Tobago Travel - The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is an archipelagic state in the southern Caribbean, lying northeast of the South American country of Venezuela and south of Grenada in the Lesser Antilles. It shares maritime boundaries with other nations including Barbados to the northeast, Guyana to the southeast, and Venezuela to the south and west. The country covers an area of 5,128 square kilometres (1,980 sq mi)[6] and consists of two main islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and numerous smaller landforms. Trinidad is the larger and more populous of the main islands; Tobago is much smaller, comprising about 6% of the total area and 4% of the entire population which is estimated at 1.3 million (2005). The nation lies outside the hurricane belt. Trinidad and Tobago was a Spanish colony from the times of Christopher Columbus to 1802, when it was ceded to Britain. The country obtained independence in 1962. Unlike most of the English-speaking Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobagos economy is primarily industrial with an emphasis on petroleum and petrochemicals. Trinidad and Tobago has a sound macroeconomic framework and a long tradition of institutional stability. It scores relatively well in many of the 10 economic freedoms, and its economy has grown at an average rate of close to 7 percent over the past five years. The government has tried to diversify the economic base, and the country has evolved into a key financial center in the Caribbean region. Trinidad and Tobago is known for its Carnival and is the birthplace of steelpan, calypso, soca, and limbo. ( source Wikipedia ) Enjoy Your Trinidad & Tobago Travel!

This is a a whole day boat trip tour of the Island of Tobago which is part of the country of Trinidad and Tobago. We do several different things on this tour. This is an all day trip from 10A to 5P. The first part of the video is a bit shaky as we travel at a high rate of speed over the waves. Our first stop is at 3:19 into the video and is called Mount Irvine Bay. It was a nice calm beach. At 5:50 we pick up some fish which they will cook for us later on no mans island. At 6:55 we are by another beach. At 7:21 pass by Stone Haven Village and Le Grand Courland Resort and Stonehaven Bay. At 8:30 we pass close to rocks. At 9:10 we are at the Great Courland Bay aka Turtle Beach and the Turtle Beach by Rex Resorts. At 12:45 we hit some big waves. At 14:15 we reach Cotton Bay (Paradise Bay) which is a secluded beach only reachable by boat. This is the first stop where we can get out. Better views start at 15:05. BEAUTIFUL!!! At 16:20 you will see people snorkeling. At 17:11 we are at beach called Jurassic Park Bay or Celery Bay. At 18:39 we pass by a waterfall. At 19:24 we are at a small village on the beach. At 19:50 we go snorkeling in some beautiful water with LOTS of fish underneath. at 20:50 you will see how clear the water is!!!! At 22:30 I show you all all the drinks in the cooler. They provide all the drinks and food. At 23:50 we go fishing for our lunch and get some tuna. It was some of the best fish I ever at. It is all fresh. Nothing like freshly caught fish!!!! At 26:00 we caught a fish! At 27:12 we reach no man lands.

noodls 2015-04-06Trinidad and Tobago (i/ˌtrɪnɨdæd/ & /tɵˈbeɪɡoʊ/) officially the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is an archipelagic state in the southern Caribbean, lying just off the coast of northeastern Venezuela and south of Grenada in the Lesser Antilles. It shares maritime boundaries with other nations including Barbados to the northeast, Guyana to the southeast, and Venezuela to the south and west.
The country covers an area 5,128 square kilometres (1,980 sq mi) and consists of two main islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and numerous smaller landforms. Trinidad is the larger and more populous of the main islands, comprising about 94% of the total area and 96% of the total population of the country. The nation lies outside the hurricane belt.
The island of Trinidad was a Spanish colony from the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1498 to the capitulation of the Spanish Governor, Don José Maria Chacón, on the arrival of a British fleet of 18 warships on 18 February 1797. During the same period, the island of Tobago changed hands between Spanish, British, French, Dutch and Courlander colonizers. Trinidad and Tobago was ceded to Britain in 1802 under the Treaty of Amiens. The country obtained independence in 1962, becoming a republic in 1976. Unlike most of the English-speaking Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago's economy is primarily industrial, with an emphasis on petroleum and petrochemicals.
Tobago ( /təˈbeɪɡoʊ/) is the smaller of the two main islands that make up the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It is located in the southern Caribbean, northeast of the island of Trinidad and southeast of Grenada. The island lies outside the hurricane belt. According to the earliest English-language source cited in the Oxford English Dictionary, Tobago bore a name that has become the English word tobacco.
Tobago has a land area of 300 km² (116 mi²), and is approximately 42 km (26 mi) long and 10 km (6.2 mi) wide. It is located at latitude 11° 9' N, longitude 60° 40' W, slightly north of Trinidad. The population is 54,084 (2000). The capital is Scarborough which has a population of about 17,000. While Trinidad is multiethnic, the population of Tobago is primarily of African descent, although with a growing proportion of Trinidadians of East Indian descent and Europeans (predominantly Germans and Scandinavians). Between 1990 and 2000, the population of Tobago grew by 11.28 percent, making it one of the fastest growing areas of the country.
