The Nuremberg trials were a series of military tribunals, held by the Allied forces after World War II, most notable for the prosecution of prominent members of the political, military, and economic leadership of Nazi Germany. The trials were held in the city of Nuremberg, Germany. The first, and best known of these trials, described as "the greatest trial in history" by Norman Birkett, one of the British judges who presided over it,[1] was the trial of the major war criminals before the International Military Tribunal (IMT). Held between 20 November 1945 and 1 October 1946,[2] the Tribunal was given the task of trying 23 of the most important political and military leaders of the Third Reich, though one of the defendants, Martin Bormann, was tried in absentia, while another, Robert Ley, committed suicide within a week of the trial's commencement. Not included were Adolf Hitler, Heinrich Himmler, and Joseph Goebbels, all of whom had committed suicide several months before the indictment was signed.[3] The second set of trials of lesser war criminals was conducted under Control Council Law No. 10 at the U.S. Nuremberg Military Tribunals (NMT); among these included the Doctors' Trial and the Judges' Trial. This article primarily deals with the IMT; see Subsequent Nuremberg Trials for details on those trials.

On the 15th September 1935, the German Reichstag passed the Nuremberg Laws that legally discriminated against Jews. The antisemitic legislation consisted of two laws - the Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honour, and the Reich Citizenship Law.
Since coming to power in 1933, the Nazi Party had produced large amounts of propaganda that discriminated against minorities, and which gradually encouraged people in Germany to view Jews in particular as belonging to a separate race to other Germans. The Nuremberg Laws enshrined this discrimination in the legal framework of the country.
The first law focused on individual relationships by banning marriages and sexual relationships between Jews and Germans. Furthermore it strengthened the concept of ‘German’ racial superiority in law by banning German women under the age of 45 from working in Jewish households. Meanwhile the Reich Citizenship Law stripped Jews and many other minorities of their German citizenship as it stated that only people with German or related blood could be Reich citizens.
This second law relied on a clear definition of Jewishness, but this was not actually agreed upon until November. In the end, Hitler declared that anyone with three Jewish grandparents was to be classed as Jewish; anyone who had two Jewish grandparents would be considered Jewish under the law if they practised the faith or had a Jewish spouse. Proving racial heritage therefore became a vital part of life in Nazi Germany. However, due to concerns about how the international community might interpret the laws, prosecutions did not begin until after the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

USA: ORIGINAL TEXT OF THE NUREMBERG LAWS FOUND

English/Nat
To the surprise of Jewish scholars and theologians, a small California library has announced it possesses the original text of the Nuremberg Laws.
The decrees signed by Adolf Hitler made discrimination against Jews part of Germany's national policy.
The documents had been tucked away for more than 50 years inside a vault at Huntington Library in suburban San Marino.
They will go on display for the first time on Tuesday at the Skirball Cultural Centre, a Jewish cultural museum.
The Nuremberg Laws were signed by Adolf Hitler in 1935.
64 years later, the original text turned up unexpectedly at the Huntington Library in San Marino, southern California.
Not even Holocaust scholars knew they had been stored there since 1945.
The laws codified Nazi discrimination against Jews.
The original text will now go on display - for the first time since General George S. Patton presented the artifacts to the museum at the end of World War II.
Also included in the display will be a rare edition of "Mein Kampf", signed by the general.
Weighing almost 35 pounds, the massive ceremonial edition is believed to be one of only 100 copies published in the mid- to late 1920s, possibly used in presentations at rallies.
The documents and the book have now found their way into the hands of Uri Herscher of the Skirball Cultural Centre in Los Angeles, where they will go on display.
The impact of uncovering and displaying the laws is an emotional one for Herscher who lost 18 family members in Nazi concentration camps.
SOUNDBITE:(English)
"The intellectual impact of these documents is minimal. What is important is the emotional impact of having these documents come to light. You know it's like seeing the Mona Lisa in the Louvre and then seeing her on a poster. There's a big difference. Actually seeing Hitler's signature on this document really makes it all real. There was a man named Hitler and he signed this document."
SUPER CAPTION: Uri Herscher, President and CEO of the Skirball Cultural Centre
Herscher says the original documents were meant to be the blueprint for the extermination of the Jewish people.
The laws were drafted in 1935 at a police station, just prior to a major Nazi Party rally.
And they became the foundation for subsequent steps toward the complete annihilation of the Jews, including Kristallnacht in 1938, deportation and eventually concentration camps.
The laws stripped Jews of their citizenship, barred marriage or sexual intercourse between Jews and Germans and mandated loyalty to the Nazi flag.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"You know I felt by seeing Hitler's original signature that I was holding evil in my hands and literally dropped the Mein Kampf volume and went to the bathroom to wash my hands, while weeping, knowing that that document indeed, not only was the beginning of the blue print that called for the demise of the Jewish people, but is was also the document which motivated my mother and father to leave Germany in 1935 for Palestine."
SUPER CAPTION: Uri Herscher, President and CEO of the Skirball Cultural Centre
Some scholars are pleased that the documents will be displayed, but question the delay of the disclosure.
Robert Skotheim, president of the Huntington Library, said he was told about the documents when he took the position 11 years ago.
He chose to keep them locked away because German history was irrelevant to the library, which showcases British and American art and antiques.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
"They were put in a vault and basically, I believe, without any sense of malice, were left in the vault since they were out of context within that library."

"If these accused persons had been taken out and shot, you know, without any trial, there would have been no record for history. But by reason of this trial, the facts were developed that were irrefutable, and they will live forever and that's one of the greatest contributions of the Nuremberg trials to justice."

8. SOUNDBITE: (German) Johann-George Schaezler, member of the defence team of Rudolf Hess and Nazi military high command:
"Under the circumstances then it was a fair process. It was difficult for the defending lawyer to get used to the English legal system. But we mastered it and in the end we could say it was fair. The circumstances then were of course difficult - one couldn't get the witnesses to Nuremberg because one couldn't find them. When one found them it was difficult to get them over. The documents were also all held by the prosecution."
9. Johann-George Schaezler leaving exhibition
STORYLINE:
An exhibition opened in the Germany city of Nuremberg on Saturday to mark the 60th anniversary of the landmark trial of 21 leading Nazi officers.
On November 20th 1945 proceedings began in Courtroom 600 of the Nuremberg Palace of Justice - still a working courtroom today.
The trial of Hermann Goering, Rudolf Hess, Joachim von Ribbentrop and 18 others established new offences: crimes against peace, waging a war of aggression, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.
Members of the prosecution and defence teams attended the exhibition on Saturday, and spoke of what the trial meant to them.
"By reason of this trial the facts were developed that were irrefutable, and they will live forever and that's one of the greatest contribution of the Nuremberg trials to justice," said Whitney harris. Who was on the prosecuting team.
Defence counsel Johann-George Schaezler remembered the difficulties of such legal proceedings.
"But we mastered it and in the end we could say it was fair," he said.
The trial went beyond punishing the Nazis, who killed six (m) million Jews and several million others in their concentration camps.
It also established the concept that government leaders could be held individually responsible for wartime actions that violated international standards of conduct.
Nuremberg was the city where the Nazis held their annual party rallies - the choreographed torchlight marches and fiery speeches recorded by filmmaker Leni Riefenstahl in 1934's "Triumph of the Will" - and where Hitler's
anti-Semitic Nuremberg Laws paving the way for the Holocaust were announced in 1935.
Trying top Nazis in such a symbolic location could not have been far from the Allies' minds, but Nuremberg was chosen for more practical reasons.
It was the largest court building in Bavaria, which fell in the American sector, and escaped destruction by Allied bombers even though 90 percent of the surrounding city was in ruins.
It also had an attached prison to hold other Nazis brought in as witnesses, such as Auschwitz death camp commandant Rudolf Hoess.
Three received life in prison, four 10 to 20 years, and three were acquitted.

Following WW2 a series of tribunals was held by the victorious Allied forces. These trials were aimed at prosecuting high ranking Nazi Party officials on accounts of war crimes, crimes against peace and crimes against humanity. The Nuremberg Trials had left an immense impact on International Law. Later the Nuremberg Principles were set as a benchmark for defining war crimes by the United Nations International Law Commission in 1950. But why these overarching principles were merely set to charge the crimes committed by the Nazis and not the victorious powers? Can they still be called upon to try the modern day war criminals? There are widespread reports of torture, massive loss of civilian lives, and destruction of infrastructure and looting of wealth in post-US-invasion Iraq only, not to mention the fact the US-lead war was not sanctioned by the UN. Are America and its allies above the law?
In Chronicles of a Crime we witness US sanctimonious approach towards International Laws and Community while committing unspeakable crimes in the name of liberation and freedom in Iraq. Experts’ interviews help the viewers realize what it means to be the one who has written the law itself to be implemented against others and not one’s self.

Belgium's already liberal laws on euthanasia became even more relaxed with a court granting a 50 year-old rapist and murderer who's been in jail for 30 years the right to assisted dying. To debate this issus we have Tom Curran from Exit International, Rabbi Jonathan Romain and Dr Iain Brassington. William talks to the last remaining Chief Prosecutor from Nuremburg, Benjamin Ferencz. Ben Ferencz went on to eatablish himself as one of the world's leading authorities on international criminal law -- and as one of the architects of the International Criminal Court that was created in 2002.

Today’s story is about Sphere-shaped UFOs, or just Sphere UFOs, witnessed over Neuremberg, Germany, Basel, Switzerland, together with the one over Fatima, Portugal, which was witnessed on October 13th, 1917, by more than tens of thousand people on that day.
Just three years in 1561, before Michelangelo Bounarroti died, in 1564, residents of Nuremberg, Germany, witnessed spectacular displays of spheres, zooming about the sky and engaging in an aerial ballet.
Were they so-called UFOs or not?
Then how about the “Dancing Sun”, also witnessed in Fatima?
Here is my answer to these mysteries.
