Our society relies on digital technologies to an ever-increasing extent in order to communicate, receive healthcare treatment, travel or simply have fun. A driving force for economic development, these often-invisible technologies aim to simplify our tasks and improve our day-to-day wellbeing. Drawing on both computer sciences and mathematics, ranging from fundamental research to technological development and to industrial technology transfer, researchers at the Inria public research institute are tasked with inventing the digital technologies of the future. Research at Inria is collaborative, as demonstrated by the diversity of talents brought together in the research teams, and indeed the many collaborations with public and private research bodies, both in France and further afield. Competing with the world's greatest specialists in their field, researchers and employees at Inria also undertake to share their knowledge with as many people as possible.
