Z Magazine is an independent monthly magazine founded in 1988. Our mission is to publish in depth articles that critique society's political, economic, social life and institutions. We see the race, class, and gender dimensions of personal life as equally important in understanding current circumstances and as necessary for developing visions and strategies for progressive change.

We survive through income from paid subscriptions, sales of videos and books, online Sustainers, individual donations. and periodic fundraising. We are non-profit, tax exempt under the Institute for Social and Cultural Communications. We are currently in dire need of funds. NUCLEAR WEAPONS - A call to action has been issued by a number of organizations for April in NYC just before the UN’s Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty Review Conference (April 28–May 9), held every five years, to protest the lack of progress in getting rid of nuclear weapons.
Events include an international conference (April 24-25), a mass march to the UN followed by a rally and peace festival (April 26), an Interfaith Service for Nuclear Weapons Abolition.
