Riley Smith

Riley Bryant Smith (born April 12, 1978 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa) is an American film actor and singer for the band The Life of Riley.

Background

Smith's parents are Russ and Roxanne Smith. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and raised in Marion, Iowa on his parents’ horse ranch. He became an accomplished rider, competing in a horse show for the first time when he was 9 years old. When he was 15, he placed 4th in 3-Year-Old Mares division at the American Quarter Horse Youth World Championship, and at 16 won the American Quarter Horse Youth World Championship. When he was 17, he became president of the 50,000-member youth association, becoming the youngest person to serve as corresponding vice president of American Quarter Horse Youth Association.

He graduated from Alburnett Junior-Senior High School in 1997, and his original intention was to earn a college degree to cover his horse racing, but he was "discovered" at the Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids by a local talent scout and flew to New York City to compete at the International Modeling and Talent Association (IMTA) Convention. There he was signed to a Tommy Hilfiger modeling campaign. He used the money he earned to pay for acting classes.

Riley Smith (American football)

Riley Henry Smith (July 14, 1911 – August 9, 1999) was an American college and professional football player who was a quarterback for the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL) during the late 1930s. He played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team of the University of Alabama, where he was recognized as a consensus All-American. After his NFL career ended, he became a coach.

Early life

Smith was born in Greenwood, Mississippi in 1911. He originally attended and played high school football for Greenwood High School, but then moved to Columbus, Mississippi and played at Columbus High School.

College career

Smith attended the University of Alabama, where he played quarterback for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team. He was passer and runner, but could also block, punt, kick extra points and boot field goals. In 1935, he was part of the team that won the Rose Bowl, was recognized as a consensus first-team All-American, and also won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the best blocker in the Southeastern Conference. Smith played in the East-West Shrine Game and the College All-Star Game.

The Circle (Bon Jovi album)

The Circle is the eleventh studio album by American rock band Bon Jovi. Produced by John Shanks, the album was released November 10, 2009. The album debuted at #1 in several countries, including the U.S., where it sold 163,000 copies in its first week debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200.

The Circle takes the band back to the rock roots after their prior Nashville country music influenced album Lost Highway. The Circle was inspired by the economic meltdown and political turmoil around the world.

Recording and production

In an interview given to Rolling Stone Magazine, guitarist Richie Sambora says the album is a return to "rock and roll" and said "There’s going to be some big choruses on there. It sounds like Bon Jovi, but it sounds fresh. We experimented with a lot of new sounds and had a really good time working with John Shanks, who is also a really good guitar player, so he and I did a lot of ‘weaseling’ with the guitar sounds. There are a lot of really good guitar sounds and new kind atmospheres on the new Bon Jovi record, that I think makes it really modern. I think people are going to dig it, man. And it rocks hard."

The Vicious Circle (1957 film)

The Vicious Circle is a 1957 British thriller film directed by Gerald Thomas and starring John Mills, Noelle Middleton, Wilfrid Hyde-White and Lionel Jeffries. A leading Harley Street specialist is forced to work with the police to nail a gang of international criminals, after being falsely accused of murder. It was based on My Friend Charles (1956), a TV serial written by Francis Durbridge.

Plot

Doctor Howard Latimer answers what he believes to be a request for a favour from an American friend by picking up a famous German actress from London Airport. He goes in the company of a journalist Geoffrey Windsor who tags along after failing to gain an interview with Latimer about recent medical research. As Latimer is already late for a date with his fiancee at the Royal Festival Hall he lets Windsor take the actress to Claridges Hotel.

When her body is later discovered in Latimer's flat, with absolutely no trace of Windsor, he is faced with questions from the police. DI Dane is initially sympathetic but as the evidence mounts up it increasingly seems as if only Latimer could have committed the murder. Latimer has the added problem of Mrs Ambler, a patient referred to him by his colleague Doctor Kimber, who keeps changing her suspicious story. With the evidence looking like he will be charged, he goes to stay at his friend Kenneth Palmer's house where he hopes to avoid the police. While there he encounters the mysterious "Robert Brady" who shows a strange interest in a matchbox given to Latimer by the German actress.
