Don Cornell - I'm Yours (1952)
Charted at #3 on Billboard's Records Most Played by Disk Jockeys chart in June 1952. "I'm Yours" was Don's follow-up single to "I'll Walk Alone" and an even bigger hit. He had some considerable competition, particularly from Eddie Fisher, who also charted at #3 with his version. Two other singles of this great song, by the Four Aces and Toni Arden, charted at #17 and #24 respectively. Original Billboard review: "Cornell comes thru with a sock reading of big ballad, bolstered most effectively by strong orchestra backing. Shapes up as another winner for the chanter, following his top-selling "I'll Walk Alone". Overall Billboard rating: 88 out of 100.
With Orchestra Directed By Norman Leyden.
Written by Robert Mellin.
B-side is "My Mother's Pearls".

1950 HITS ARCHIVE: It Isn’t Fair - Sammy Kaye (Don Cornell, vocal)
It Isn’t Fair (Himber-Warshauer-Sprigato) by Sammy Kaye & his Orchestra, vocal by Don Cornell
In 1950, after many years of swinging and swaying, Don Cornell went solo, departing the Sammy Kaye band with a bang! This final Kaye-Cornell collaboration was a million-selling hit, spent nearly six months on the record charts, and remained (along with “I’m Yours”) one of Cornell’s signature tunes throughout his long career.
New to much of 1950’s younger generation, “It Isn’t Fair” had been a popular hit back in 1933, serving also as theme for the band of Richard Himber, co-writer of the song.

Don Cornell - I'll Walk Alone (1952)
Charted at #5 on Billboard's Records Most Played by Disk Jockeys chart in May 1952. Don had been a successful big band singer during the 1940's, notching up a number of hits with the Sammy Kaye Orchestra. In the '50's, this single, his first on the Coral label, started off a second string of solo hits which continued until rock and roll took over as the popular style. "I'll Walk Alone" was a very big hit during World War II, charting at #1 for Dinah Shore, #4 for Martha Tilton, #6 for Mary Martin and #22 for Louis Prima (#9 R&B;), all in 1944. Don's remake had competition from other remakes during 1952 (the reason for the resurgence in popularity is given in the following Billboard review), but was the winner in the chart battle. Original Billboard review: "Cornell, ex-Sammy Kaye chanter, makes his bow on this label with surprisingly fine, big-voiced chant on the oldie ballad getting renewed interest via the film, "With a Song in My Heart". The virtuosic rendition could be a big one for the singer." Overall Billboard rating: 88 out of 100.

LETRA:
So, this the kingdom of heaven
So, this is the sweet promised land
While angels tell of love
Don't break the spell of love
Hold my hand
So, this is the gargen of eden
In dreams it was never so grand
Let's never leave again
Adam and Eve again
Hold my hand
This is the secret of what bliss is
For bliss is what your kiss is
At last I understand
So, this is the kingdom of heaven
And here on the threshold we stand
Pass through the portal now
We'll be immortal now
Hold my hand
