Seoul, South Korea, is truly an amazing city to visit! It's modern, easy to navigate and there's little something everyone will enjoy. The Seoul subway system makes it easy to get around town and discover exactly what the giant city has to offer. Surrounded by Japan and China, Seoul and South Korea sometimes doesn't get all the attention is deserves . Korea is home to a unique culture, cuisine and a fascinating history. If you ever have the chance to visit Seoul, you'll have a great time! I traveled to Seoul Korea and was able to do all kinds of things, but I've narrowed this list down to twenty five of the best things to do in Seoul - of course there are other things as well but this list is just the beginning and intended to get your ideas and travel imagination flowing! Anyway, on to the top Seoul attractions, here's the list in case you can't see the video: 1. Gyeongbukgung Palace 2. Bukchon Hanok Village 3. Jogyesa Buddhist Temple 4. Suwon's Hwaseong Fortress 5. War Memorial and Museum 6. N Seoul Tower 7. Myeongdong Shopping 8. Insadong 9. Namdaemun Market 10. Dongdaemun 11. International Itaewon 12. Hongdae (Hongik University) 13. Lotte Mart 14. Lotte World 15. Seoul Children's Park 16. Han River Walking / Riding 17. Walk along the Cheonggyecheon Stream 18. Hike in Seoul 19. Gwangjang Market 20. Noryangjin Fish Market 21. Garak Wholesale Food Market 22. Korean Street Food 23. Ice Cream Selections 24. Coffee at a Coffee Shop 25. If you get a chance to visit Seoul I hope your'e able to do all these wonderful things while you're there! Anything else you love about Seoul that's not on this list? Travel video about destination South-Korea. South Korea is a land of ancient tradition and contemporary life, a fascinating world…with five thousand years of history. Seoul is the country’s economic and cultural centre, a metropolis of twelve million inhabitants who are proud of their ancient culture. The War Museum is a reminder of the Forgotten War when the United States of America and twenty other countries took part in a United Nations military operation to support South Korea against the forces North Korea and China. Thirty kilometres south of Seoul is the fortress town of Suwon where at the end of the eighteenth century the Hwaseong Fortress was built, now a World Heritage Sight. South Korea’s most famous monastery is located in the Gaya-San National Park. Today the complex and its ninety buildings have become one of the main Buddhist centres in the East.. Tumuli Park is situated in the centre of Kyong Ju, former capital of the Silla Kingdom and contains twenty three royal tombs that look from the outside like large green hills. A huge number of valuable finds were made here thus the National Museum was created in which more than a hundred and fifty thousand exhibits from prehistoric times right up to the Joseon Dynasty are on display. Jeju island is a unique holiday paradise, a volcanic island with temples, waterfalls, tea plantations and several leisure facilities. For Koreans as well as the Japanese, Jeju Island has, due to its tropical climate, become a very popular honeymoon destination. When during dinner a volcano erupts and laser gods battle against each other, the Korean people are reminded of the fact that they have withstood invasion by the Mongols, Chinese and Japanese. At the climax of the show a fiery dragon appears: his sole task to protect glorious South Korea!
South Korea Travel Video Guide: South Korea, formally the Republic of Korea is a country in East Asia. South Korea occupies the southern half of the Korean Peninsula, with North Korea to the north, China across the sea to the west and Japan a short ferry ride to the southeast. Archeological finds of prehistoric toolmaking on the Korean Peninsula date back to 70,000 BC, and the first pottery is found around 8000 BC. Comb-pattern pottery culture peaked around 3500-2000 BC. Legend has it that Korea began with the founding of Gojoseon (also called Ancient Chosun) by the legendary Dangun in 2333 BC. Archeological and contemporaneous written records of Gojoseon as a kingdom date back to around 7th-4th century BC. Gojoseon was eventually defeated by the Chinese Han Dynasty and its territories were governed by four Chinese commanderies. The political chaos following the fall of the Han Dynasty in China allowed native tribes to regain control of Korea and led to the emergence of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, namely Goguryeo, Silla and Baekje. Despite repeated attempts by China, namely the Sui Dynasty and later the Tang Dynasty, to conquer the Korean Peninsula, northern-based Goguryeo managed to repel them. Eventually, Goguryeo fell to a Silla-Tang alliance, which had earlier defeated Baekje. This unified Korea under the Silla dynasty. Even though Tang later invaded, Silla forces managed to drive them out, thus maintaining Korea's independence. Unified Silla was replaced by the Goryeo (also called Koryo) dynasty, from which the modern name "Korea" derives. One highlight of the Goryeo dynasty was that in 1234 the world's first metal movable type was invented by a Korean named Choe Yun-ui (200 years before Gutenberg's printing press). Goryeo was replaced by the Joseon (also called Chosun) dynasty, after a coup by one of its generals. The Joseon dynasty ruled Korea from 1392 to 1910, being one of the longest actively ruling dynasties in world history. It was during the early part of the Joseon dynasty that Korean technological inventions such as the world's first water clock, ironclad ship, and other innovations took place. During the rule of King Sejong the Great, the world's first rain gauge was invented and the Korean alphabet known as hangul was created. Seoul is one of the most dynamic cities in the world. I've been privileged enough to have lived in and around the Seoul metropolitan area for several years as an English teacher. It's a city that is near and dear to my heart and one which I strongly encourage you to visit. Below is my things to do in Seoul travel guide featuring all of the top attractions worth visiting: 1) Insadong is the cultural HUB of Seoul. It's an area that is equally as popular with locals as it is with tourists. Whether you're shopping for Korean souvenirs, people watching or wanting to grab some Korean street food, you'll find it all here. 2) Do fancy cats? For cat lovers (and the cats living there) a cat cafe is paradise. With an opportunity to interact with cats and feed them treats, you'll be sure to make a few feline friends in just one sitting. The deal with these cat cafes is that you have to purchase a prepaid drink and/or snack (at a price higher than a normal cafe) for the opportunity to pet and play with kitties. Our favorite cat cafe was located in Hongdae. 3) In the winter Korea is frigid in a way few from abroad might expect. To warm up head to a proper Korean Tea House where you'll be served a wonderful aromatic fruity Korean tea accompanied by rice cake snacks. To enjoy like a local find a spot with Ondol - heated floors. If you're looking for a recommendation, try the ginger tea! 4) For the best view in Seoul consider hiking up Mount Namsan to visit Seoul Tower. Best done in the spring or fall - given the moderate temperatures - this moderately challenging walk will take less than an hour to complete. We picked late fall to go when it was cooler outside and leaves were changing colors. 5) No trip to Seoul would be complete without visiting the oldest market in the city - Namdaemun market. Many come here to shop but I'm all about coming for Korean street food. With a plethora of stalls and no shortage of options it's best to arrive with an empty stomach. If you're having a hard time choosing I recommend Hotteok and Tteokbokki. 6) As if visiting a cat cafe wasn't enough there are also dog cafes in Seoul! Unlike the cat cafes, which are a bit more mellow, prepare for a high energy kind of environment in the dog cafe where the dogs are more active than the docile cats. 7) For the best walk in Seoul head down to the Cheonggyecheon stream in the heart of the city. Equally as fascinating during the summer as it is by winter, it takes on a totally different personality as the seasons change. If you're lucky you'll spot a traditional Korean performance or hear Korean music playing. 8) There are numerous palaces to consider visiting in Seoul but none is more impressive than Gyeongbokgung. With admission being only 3000 KRW it's a cheap and fun landmark to visit. Be sure to stick around for the changing of guard ceremony. 우리가 좋아하는 고양이 카페 는 홍대 에 위치했다. http://grrrltraveler.com/countries/asia/korea/cool-things-to-buy-in-korea/ Visit Korea: A Guide to Cool "Korean" Things to Buy What top products should you buy on your visit to Korea? What should you get at Namdaemun or Myeongdong? Korea has a lot of cool things to buy. But sometimes it's hard telling the difference between what's Korean and what's just "Asian". This is a two part video series about what the best souvenirs and gifts to buy when you're in Korea. You can find : Chopsticks and Utensils: - Insadong (traditional goods & souvenirs) - Daiso ( One dollar stores) - Grocery and home improvement stores and probably at one of these 6 Western-friendly stores: http://grrrltraveler.com/countries/asia/korea/top-3-westernstores-kr/ Korean Beauty Products: Myeongdong or most/all of those stores listed in the link above. Facial packs can occasionally be free when you walk into a skin care store with a girl holding a basket outside. Technology in Seoul: Check out Yongsan mall (It's right outside Yongsan station). But be prepared to know your prices and negotiate. Not all technology is cheap in Korea. In fact, often I've found it to be otherwise. You can also just shop at more standard malls like E-mart and Lotte. Online, Koreans like to shop at Gmart (which has just opened for international shipping). Trip to Korea! Blog: http://flowwang.blogspot.com
Seoul is the business and cultural hub of South Korea, where skyscrapers tower over Buddhist temples. Take it all in from the N Seoul Tower, built atop a peak in Namsan Park. The teahouses and shops of Insadong give you a taste of Korean flavor, which you can further experience with a visit to the grounds and museums of Gyeongbokgung. UNESCO World Heritage Site Changdeokgung Palace is a fine example of authentic ancient architecture.
5 days traveling and touring through the unique country of North Korea (DPRK). With visits to Pyongyang, the Mass Games, Kaesong, and the DMZ. GoPro.
When coming up with a top attractions travel guide for South Korea it became a daunting task to go through my travel video library collection of Korean videos and decide which ones to use. There is just so much to see and do in Korea from food to culture and from attractions and cities worth visiting. From Seoul to Busan and from countryside to urban city centers there is something for everyone. The following recommendation for the top things to do in South Korea: 1) Visiting Insadong Considered by many to the cultural hub of Seoul, Insadong is the perfect place to indulge in Korean street, go shopping and take in Korean traditional musical performances. It is also one of the best places for people watching as you'll notice a mix of both Koreans and foreigners. 2) Korean Folk Village The Korean Folk Village, nestled in between the cities of Suwon and Yongin, is a place you'll definitely want to check out. While wandering around he scenic premises you can snack on Korean street food delights such as sugary taffy where you'll notice traditional Korean wedding ceremonies, tightrope walking and equestrian students and performances. The best time of year to come is in the fall or spring. 3) Cat Cafes Although we've been to several cat cafes in Thailand, Malaysia and Germany we still haven't found one that tops the cat cafe we visited in Hongdae, Seoul, South Korea. Purchase an entrance ticket, which entitles you to a drink, allows you to come in and interact with the cats playing, feeding and petting them to your hearts content. 4) One of the most historic markets in all of Seoul - and Korea for that matter - is Namdaemun Market. As the largest and oldest open air market in all of Korea you'll have a chance to shop and eat Korean street food all day long. My favorite snack here is hotteok. 5) A scenic and peaceful way to experience the heart of downtown Seoul is to wander along the Cheonggyecheon. There are few places that are more attractive to go walking. When we visited in winter we noticed many ice sculptures. 6) To beat the heat in the winter, visit a traditional Korean tea house for a fragrant cup of hot fruity tea and a delicious plate of Korean rice cake snacks. 7) Not a fan of cats? Try visiting a dog cafe as an alternative. It's the same deal as the cat cafe in terms of purchasing overpriced drinks for the chance to play and interact with cute dogs and puppies. 8) Kimbap Restaurant For excellent Korean rice rolls, known as kimbap, head to one of the ubiquitous locations for some excellent kimchi fried rice, mandu and Korean soups. 9) Bamboo Park If you visit the city of Damyang, in the southern region of Korea, you'll be treated to the Damyang Bamboo Forest Park. A nice scenic escape from urban Korean life, these parks do sometimes get crowded. 10) Boseong Tea Fields and Plantation Not far from the Bamboo Forest Park is the Boseong Tea Fields. Come climb up to the very top - it's quite the workout and enjoy a cup of green tea or green tea flavored ice cream upon returning to the bottom. 11) There are a plethora of fascinating palaces and temples to explore in Seoul. Our favorite, is Gyeongbokgung Palace where admission is only 3000 Won. Pose with Korean guards and stick around for the changing of the guard. 12) If you're ready to shop until you drop be sure to visit Myeongdong, one of the most popular shopping districts in all of Seoul. Here you'll find swanky boutique shops and plenty of restaurants. 13) For the art and hipster scene be sure to visit Hongdae, the most popular student hangout area for Koreans. From food to nightlife to shopping this place has it all for young 20 somethings. 14) An alternative to Itaewon is Songtan - located nearby an American Military base in the Pyeongtaek region. This is where you'll come to buy American goods and to eat International cuisine. 15) Seoul Tower offers amazing views of the city but I enjoyed climbing Namsan even more. The climb is free and it best enjoyed on a fall or spring afternoon when the weather is cool. This is part of our Travel in Korea series. Insooni is a true diva with powerful vocals and an energetic performance with dancing. She's as awesome live as she is from the live performance vids. Also, as a Pump It Up player, I loved hearing Gotta Be Kidding and Friend! :) It's interesting that she was chosen as the finale act instead of one of the idols, but she knocked it out of the park. :D

ARIRANG NEWS 20:00 South Korea and China strike a free trade agreement... with both leaders of the two countries hailing the agreement and calling for deeper level of bilateral cooperation. The leaders of China and Japan hold their first face-to-face talks on the sidelines of the APEC summit on Monday. Tokyo calls the summit the first step in improving bilateral ties... while Beijing calls on Tokyo to do more to mend trust with its neighboring countries. And we analyze what′s behind North Korea′s decision to release two American detainees over the weekend. Happy Monday, everyone. Welcome to Arirang News. I′m Kang Chery. Title: Leaders of Korea, China announce conclusion of FTA, to discuss FM meeting with Japan We start with South Korea and China ending two-and-a-half-years of free trade negotiations. That announcement was confirmed during a one-on-one between President Park Geun-hye and Chinese leader Xi Jinping... ahead of the official opening of the APEC summit. The two leaders also discussed the prospects of a three-way foreign ministers′ meeting with Japan. Choi You-sun files this report from Beijing. The leaders of Korea and China, meeting on the sidelines of the APEC Summit in Beijing, made a long-awaited announcement regarding their bilateral free trade agreement. "I′m happy to announce the actual conclusion of Korea and China′s two-year-long FTA negotiations in time for today′s summit talks." The two presidents then talked about how the Korea-China FTA will be welcomed by the global economy, currently experiencing a delayed recovery and low growth. "I hope that the two sides will keep pushing for continuous and in-depth development in bilateral exchanges and cooperation." Seoul and Beijing say they will remove tariffs on more than 90 percent of their previously-agreed products over the next 20 years. And rice, a super-sensitive product for Korean farmers, has been excluded altogether. Korea′s presidential office says compared to all the bilateral FTAs it has with other countries,... this one contains fewer agricultural products subject to tariff removal. "With its 13th bilateral FTA, Korea has secured free trade with pretty much all of the world′s major economies, namely the U.S., the EU, ASEAN and China, further bolstering its global trade network." Shifting gears to regional security, Presidents Park and Xi agreed that they should look into a tripartite foreign ministers′ meeting with Japan before the year′s end. Historical and territorial differences in Northeast Asia have soured ties and at times caused tensions. On North Korea, Beijing said it clearly opposes Pyongyang′s nuclear development program, and that it abides by UN Security Council resolutions against the regime. The two presidents then expressed a need to seek creative and diverse ways to bring North Korea back to the six-nation denuclearization talks. Choi You-sun, Arirang News, Beijing. Title: Korea-China FTA: det
PRIME TIME NEWS 22:00 Up next in the broadcast... President Park Geun-hye gives a strong push for developing Korea′s fuel cell technology. A new industrial complex will work with the nation′s top automakers in an attempt to capture half the world market. And in another move to innovate and deregulate new growth industries... the fintech or financial tech market gets a boost as regulatory barriers come down. Greece′s new anti-austerity prime minister wants to renegotiate his country′s massive debt... but eurozone nations and international creditors show no sign of giving in to the demand. Prime Time News begins now. Title: Gov′t drives Korea′s fuel-cell technology We begin with a major national push for green technology in the auto sector. President Park Geun-hye opened an innovation center in the country′s southwestern city of Gwangju this Tuesday. Korea wants the region to be a trend-setter... bubbling with creative ideas and vibrant start-ups for the future auto industry. Choi You-sun reports on the new momentum to go green. President Park, on Tuesday, launched an industrial complex in the southwestern city of Gwangju to help Korea emerge as a global leader of fuel-cell vehicle production. The complex will work closely with the country′s largest auto group Hyundai, to develop next-generation fuel-cell cars, widely regarded as future eco-friendly transportation means in the developed world. Fuel-cell vehicles, or FCVs, produce zero emission as they are run by electricity generated from a chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen in the air. The president said she anticipates a successful integration of Hyundai′s capabilities to mass-produce fuel-cell vehicles and Gwangju′s advanced hydrogen technology infrastructure to produce innovation. Compared to electric cars, they can travel up to four times farther in distance from a single charge, with charging taking only three to five minutes. Hyundai Motor is the world′s leading maker of FCVs, having started manufacturing the hydrogen version of its Tucson SUV in 2013. It aims to take up half of the global fuel-cell vehicle market share by 2018. But other global brands are catching up fast. Japan′s Toyota, recently started selling ITS FCV, Mirai, at less than half the price, with hopes to sell more than 3-thousand units by the end of 2017. Industry experts say the government and conglomerates should not only focus on R&D;, but also investing in infrastructure, such as setting up more charging stations, to increase sales, which in turn lead to more investments. Another task is to find ways to bring down the sale price by nearly a third, from the current 140-thousand dollars for a Tucson FCV. Choi You-sun, Arirang News. Title: Korea announces deregulatory measures for mobile payments system The idea of banking without the banks is catching on, not only in Korea but around the world. To keep up with the competition... and breathe life into the financial industry, Korea′s fin
PRIME TIME NEWS 22:00 As officials work out the charges against the agitator that attacked the U.S. Ambassador to Korea... experts say the Seoul-Washington alliance remains intact. With the finance minister′s call this week for a minimum wage hike to boost the economy... the debate begins on whether to raise worker salaries. Massive snow storms on the east coast of the United States... has some 94 million people affected by some of the lowest temperatures in 20 years. Prime Time News begins now. Welcome to the program. You′re watching Prime Time News. Live from Seoul... I′m Kang Chery. And I′m Sean Lim. Thanks so much for joining us tonight. Title: Prosecutors seek arrest warrant for man who attacked U.S. ambassador We begin with the legal aftermath of Thursday′s attack on U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert. Prosecutors are seeking an arrest warrant for the man who slashed the envoy with a knife. Connie Kim reports on how the assailant will likely face several charges, including attempted murder. Prosecutors are seeking an arrest warrant to charge the man who carried out a bloody knife attack on U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert... with attempted murder, business obstruction and violence against a foreign envoy. The prosecution said the attack was intentional, considering that the 55-year-old was equipped with the 10-inch knife he used in the incident. He had reportedly been planning the attack for ten days. A special investigative team will look into the motives behind the assault and whether the attacker was working with an accomplice. It′s focusing on Kim′s pro-North Korea activities and could charge him with violating the National Security Law that bars sympathizing with North Korea...if enough evidence is found. Kim traveled to North Korea seven times from 1999 to 2007. He also attempted to set up a memorial in Seoul to the late North Korean leader Kim Jong-il upon his death in 2011. Another possible motive for the attack as he was being arrested, Kim voiced his opposition to ongoing military exercises between Korea and the U.S. and demanded they come to a halt. The attack on the U.S. ambassador was the first of its kind in Korea. High-level officials from the government, ruling party and the presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae have agreed to share information with Washington in line with the countries′ bilateral ties. Lippert is at a local hospital recovering from surgery he received after the attack to repair his face and hand injuries… and doctors say he can be discharged as early as next week. Connie Kim, Arirang News. Title: U.S.-Korea alliance to remain intact after knife attack on U.S. envoy: experts The alarming knife attack on U.S. Ambassador Lippert yesterday, shook the nation... and also sparked concerns about whether it will affect Seoul′s relations with Washington. But the general view by analysts is... that the U.S.-Korea alliance will remain intact. Hwang Sung-hee

North Korea Documentaries: Nuclear Nightmare Understanding North Korea (Full Documentary) Meet Kim Jong II, leader of North Korea - a nation imprisoned by poverty and with a population so hungry, people eat bugs and grass. Now this megalomaniacal dictator is holding the civilized world hostage with what many see as a cunning strategy of extortion, threatening to develop an arsenal of nuclear weapons. It's a strategy by which the United States has indicated it cannot abide. In a joint production between the Discovery Channel and the New York Times, go behind the headlines to discover the little-understood origins and almost-stranger-than-truth facets of this dangerous confrontation. See a side of Kim Jong Il rarely revealed - his love of slasher flicks and his affinity for prostitutes - and learn why the United States may have no other palatable option than to play ball with Kim, allowing him to continue his weapons development program. It's quite literally a race against time - if North Korea, as it promises, goes into nuclear production mode, giving Kim as many as 10 nuclear bombs within six months, it would create a destabilizing offensive nuclear capability that could touch off a regional arms race...and even nuclear war. It's a game of international intrigue and high-stakes military strategy. But more importantly, it's the story of destitute North Korea and its bizarre leader, and how he has brought the U.S. and the world face-to-face with the unimaginable. this film details the history behind what brought North Korea into a nuclear power. In summary, Kim Jong Un came to power after they fought away the Japanese after WWII. The Soviets and the Americans divided the country across the 38 parallel. Kim took the lead to invade the South but after a tug of war between the two nations with China and Soviet Union supporting the North and the US supporting the South, 3 years later, the war concluded back at the original line except with over 1 million casualties in the North and 400k S. Korean and 37k US casualties. There was a period of lagging until Kim Jong Un started the nuclear program in order to gain bargaining power against the US for food aid/other resources. All was well with the Clinton era until Bush came in and scrapped the entire deal. After US invaded Iraq because of WMDs, DPRK decided to arm themselves in fear of what could happen to them.

Hi everyone! My name is Anna. My friend Seewleng and I have been to Seoul for many times but always with a tour group (along with our parents). We realized that South Korea has much more to offer than the usual tourist places like The Blue House or Gyeongbokgung Palace. We were just sick and tired of going to the same spots so we decided it was time we travel by ourselves and pick where we want to go spontaneously. This was the first time we travel alone without adults, it was exciting and scary but we were very lucky to have 2 Korean friends helping us around the city of Seoul. We definitely had the best trip ever, and experienced Seoul in an entirely different perspective. Next time we go there, it would have to be during Spring when it's nice and warmer with flowers growing everywhere. Sorry for some very shaky video footages, it was really hard to stay still when I was carrying a heavy bag and walking to catch up with my friends at the same time (not to mention it was so cold I couldn't feel my hands!). Welcome to North Korea where you have to follow your guide’s instructions and only take pictures of what we say. To some the people are repressed, though they prefer to describe themselves as "protected," at least on camera. Life here is the result of a unique 70-year social experiment in which the people are "shielded" from the "corrupting influence" of the outside world. Dynastic leader Marshal Kim Jong-un, who inherited the job from his father and grandfather, continues their political heritage. South Korea is one of the world's wealthiest nations, and is a member of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the G-20 major economies. South Korea has a market economy that ranks 15th in the world by nominal GDP and 12th by purchasing power parity (PPP). It is a developed country, with a developed market and high-income economy. South Korea is the only developed country so far to have been included in the group of Next Eleven countries. South Korea had one of the world's fastest growing economies from the early 1960s to the late 1990s, and South Korea is still one of the fastest growing developed countries in the 2000s.South Koreans refer to this growth as the Miracle on the Han River of Heavy-Chemical Industry Drive, and top four chaebol generate 90% of South Korean conglomerate profits. Having almost no natural resources and always suffering from overpopulation in its small territory, which deterred continued population growth and the formation of a large internal consumer market, South Korea adapted an export-oriented economic strategy to fuel its economy, and in 2012, South Korea was the seventh largest exporter and seventh largest importer in the world. Bank of Korea and Korea Development Institute periodically release major economic indicators and economic trends of the economy of South Korea. In the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the South Korean economy suffered a liquidity crisis and relied on the bailout by the IMF that restructured and modernized the South Korean economy with successive DJnomics policy by President Kim Dae Jung, including the resultant of the national development of the ICT industry. Despite the South Korean economy's high growth potential and apparent structural stability, South Korea suffers perpetual damage to its credit rating in the stock market due to the belligerence of North Korea in times of deep military crises, which has an adverse effect on the financial markets of the South Korean economy. However, renowned financial organizations, such as the International Monetary Fund, also compliment the resilience of the South Korean economy against various economic crises, citing low state debt, and high fiscal reserves that can quickly be mobilized to address any expected financial emergencies. Other financial organizations like the World Bank describe Korea as one of the fastest-growing major economies of the next generation along with BRIC and Indonesia. South Korea was one of the few developed countries that was able to avoid a recession during the global financial crisis, and its economic growth rate will reach 6.1% in 2010, a sharp recovery from economic growth rates of 2.3% in 2008 and 0.2% in 2009 when the global financial crisis hit. The South Korean economy again recovered with the record-surplus of US$70.7 billion mark of the current account in the end of 2013, up 47 percent growth from 2012, amid uncertainties of the global economic turmoil, with major economic output being the technology products exports. South Korea was a historical recipient of official development assistance (ODA) from OECD. Throughout the 1980s until the mid-1990s, South Korea's economic prosperity as measured in GDP by PPP per capital was still only a fraction of industrialized nations. In 1980, the South Korean GDP per capital was $2,300, about one-third of nearby developed Asian economies such as Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan. Since then, South Korea has advanced into a developed economy to eventually attain a GDP per capita of $30,000 in 2010, almost thirteen times the figure thirty years ago. The whole country's GDP increased from $88 billion to $1,460 billion in the same time frame. In 2009, South Korea officially became the first major recipient of ODA to have ascended to the status of a major donor of ODA. Between 2008 and 2009, South Korea donated economic aid of $1.7 billion to countries other than North Korea. South Korea's separate annual economic aid to North Korea has historically been more than twice its ODA. On June 23, 2012, South Korea is landmarked to become the 7th member of the 20-50 club (with the population surpassing 50 million and maintaining per capital income of US$20,000), chronologically, after Japan, United States of America, France, Italy, Germany and United Kingdom. A free trade agreement between the United States of America and the Republic of Korea was concluded on April 1, 2007. The European Union–South Korea Free Trade Agreement was signed on 15 October 2009. South Korean economy is heavily dependent on the energy imports and the related refinery technologies in association with Ministry of Knowledge Economy of Republic of Korea and in cooperation with the South Korea - Australia Free Trade Agreement. Canada–South Korea Free Trade Agreement was concluded in 2014.

North Korea has accused Mexico of illegally holding one of its ships, after it ran aground last year. It said the Mu Du Bong was a legitimate commercial ship and its detention a "rampant violation" of sovereignty. But a UN expert says the ship belongs to North Korea's Ocean Maritime Management, which is on a UN blacklist. In July 2013 one of its ships was seized in Panama after Soviet-era weapons and fighter jets were found hidden under sugar sacks. Big News Network 2015-04-11Korea (/kəˈriːə/ kə-REE-ə; Korean: 한국 Hanguk [hanɡuːk] or 조선 Joseon [tɕosʌn] – (see etymology) is an East Asian region that is divided into two separate sovereign states — North Korea and South Korea. Located on the Korean Peninsula, Korea is bordered by China to the northwest, Russia to the northeast, and is separated from Japan to the east by the Korea Strait and the Sea of Japan (East Sea), and separated from Taiwan to the south by the East China Sea.
Archaeological and linguistic evidence suggest the origins of the Korean people might have been Altaic language-speaking people from south-central Siberia,[dubious – discuss] who populated ancient Korea in successive waves from the Neolithic age to the Bronze Age. The adoption of the Chinese writing system ("Hanja" in Korean) in the 2nd century BC, and Buddhism in the 4th century AD, had profound effects on the Three Kingdoms of Korea.
The Three Kingdoms of Korea was first united during the Silla dynasty under the king Munmu of Silla. The united Silla dynasty fell to Goryeo Dynasty in 935 at the end of Later Three Kingdoms of Korea era. Goryeo was a highly cultural state and created the Jikji in the 14th century, using the world's first movable metal type printing press. The Mongol invasions in the 13th century, however, greatly weakened the nation which was forced to become a tributary state. After the Mongol Empire's collapse, severe political strife followed and Goryeo was replaced by the Joseon Dynasty in 1388.
Well some kid got the lock down
'Cause he got flip with an officer
No you don't do that in this town
Unless you can bail yourself out
Some kids got the kick down
Fightin' straights from Fenway Park
But who was in the right now
And who still feels the scars?
Whoah, pick yourself up now, lets go
Now when we come to your town
Ain't no one gonna be a thug
But we're gonna have a lot of words now
So ya tough hoods listen up
I seen ya drinkin' down the river
I seen ya fightin' at the shows
I seen em crawl from every niche around
And then I've seen em go
These are the times
And I don't care how it happens
Things just gotta change
Are you in it for a lifetime
Are you giving back what you take
Is what I'm saying sinking in
Or is it just another wasted day
Theres one thing that they got that we ain't got
Its the long arm of the law
When the mace came out I clutched the ground
Then they kicked me up some more
It took about a month or so for you to know what you are after
Oh yes, we can speak of time
'Cause all I remember are the times
You're livin' free and livin' high
You're like some angel in the sky
You're like some angel in the sky
These are the times I'm living for
These are the times I'm living for
Every day is better, than the one before
Turned off the phone so work will leave me alone
Can't stand to have the boss breathing down my neck
I don't need that check more than self respect
These are the times I'm living for
These are the times I'm living for
Every day is better, than the one before
So who's content in your experience
Sometimes what is real just don't make sense
The reflection in the looking glass is looking back
We've all been there like birds falling out of the air
The questions are many
The answers are few
But history has taught us
To keep playing through
These are the times I'm living for
These are the times I'm living for
Every day is better, than the one before
I ain't got time to wait on a sign
I said I ain't much to put down this time
I can't get enough to hold down the line
I don't need to read the stars to make them shine
These are the times I'm living for
These are the times I'm living for
Every day is better, than the one before
These are the times I'm living for
These are the times I'm living for
