We have started Kigali Sports Chanbara Club. Currently, we practice only Kodachi (Short Sword) because we do not have other staff such as Choken, Tanto and Yari. Before starting Sports Chanbara, we have been practicing Kung-fu, and still continue it. The benefit of Sports Chanbara is to fight with real speed and contact but without any harmful incidents by using soft staff. So, this activity enable us to develop skills to find the moment for attack and to keep an appropriate distance for defense. Anyway, fighting without injury is enjoyable for anyone who is not a professional fighter.

Speech by Rwanda's Minister of Sports and Culture Mitali Protais at the Urumuri Rutazima Kwibuka Flame Tour stop in Nyanza District. The Urumuri Rutazima (Kwibuka Flame) will travel through Rwanda's thirty districts before reaching Kigali on 7 April 2014, the start of the national mourning period. The flame symbolises remembrance as well as the resilience and courage of Rwandans over the past twenty years. Carried in a simple lamp, it will be used to light other lamps in communities around Rwanda. To mark the 20th commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi, all memorial fires throughout the country will stem from this single Kwibuka Flame. On returning to Kigali, President Paul Kagame will use the Kwibuka Flame to light the National Flame of Mourning. This will take place on 7 April 2014, marking the official beginning of the national mourning period. The flame will also be the source of the fire used at the candlelit vigil at Amahoro Stadium on the evening of 7 April 2014. Twenty years after approximately 800,000 Rwandans were slaughtered in just 100 days, Rwanda’s story is, as Gourevitch puts it, one of “unanswered, and possibly unanswerable, questions.” With more than half the current population born after the genocide, there’s a sense of hope for future generations, but the open wounds and volatile fault lines caused by the atrocities remain inescapable. In the clip above, Gourevitch discusses where Rwanda is today as a country; its ongoing healing process; and how, by living “cheek by jowl with those whom they were set against,” the last two decades have been a period of constant, head-on confrontation—both with what happened and with what comes next.

Content Localization Ballroom, Serena Hotel The creation and availability of Internet content relevant to local users is a key component for creating a vibrant Internet economy and a compelling incentive to attract more individuals to go on-line. While the encouragement of content creation and the development of access infrastructure are necessary components, evidence suggests that in Africa no more than 5% of Internet content is sourced locally, with the rest sourced internationally — including African developed content that is hosted overseas. This is true for global sites, such as Facebook, and for local sites such as online media and radio stations. This data must be delivered to Rwanda over international transit links, which add significant cost and latency to the download, which in turn limit usage. Building on research conducted by the Internet Society in conjunction with MYICT, this panel will discuss how Rwanda can build a robust content development and hosting environment that boosts the local Internet and business economy, attracts more Rwandans to go on-line, and helps reduce the cost of delivering Internet access. (Visit: http://www.uctv.tv/) No country in human history has reduced mortality rates as quickly as Rwanda in the last 15 years. But are the circumstances that have allowed Rwanda to make this progress unique? Ambassador Eric Goosby moderates a discussion with Paulin Basinga of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Paul Farmer of Partners in Health about what is replicable from Rwanda and what other countries might learn from its experience. Recorded on 10/02/2014. Series: "The Science of Global Health: What’s Next" [1/2015] [Health and Medicine] [Show ID: 29023]
With one of the most devastating crimes against humanity taking place in Rwanda just 20 years ago, it’s no surprise that there are still many people suffering with psychological illnesses such as post traumatic stress disorder. But that is not the beginning and the end of mental health issues in Rwanda, and one institution believes that more attention must be paid to mental health illnesses.
The US Agency for International Development (USAID), Rwanda’s Ministry of Health (MOH), and implementing partner Management Sciences for Health (MSH) launched the Rwanda Health Systems Strengthening Activity (RHSSA) in Kigali. Development partners and guests of honor Health Minister Agnes Binagwaho and USAID Rwanda Mission Director Peter Malnak attended the event. The five-year project officially began on November 17, 2014.

When the Past is Always Present - 20 Years After the Genocide in Rwanda. Faith Matters homepage: http://www.dw.de/program/faith-matters/s-3952-9798.

All of Rwanda is at high elevation, with a geography dominated by mountains in the west, savanna in the east, and numerous lakes throughout the country. The climate is temperate, with two rainy seasons and two dry seasons every year.
The population is young and predominantly rural, with a density among the highest in Africa. Rwandans form three groups: the Hutu, Tutsi, and Twa. The Twa are a pygmy people who descend from Rwanda's earliest inhabitants, but scholars disagree on the origins of and differences between the Hutu and Tutsi; some believe that they are derived from former social castes, while others view them as being races or tribes. Christianity is the largest religion in the country, and the principal language is Kinyarwanda, which is spoken by most Rwandans. Rwanda has a presidential system of government. The President is Paul Kagame of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF). Rwanda has low corruption compared with neighbouring countries, but human rights organisations allege suppression of opposition groups, intimidation, and restrictions on freedom of speech. The country has been governed by a strict administrative hierarchy since precolonial times; there are currently five provinces, which are delineated by borders drawn in 2006.
Rwanda yeah your moon shines bright
Rwanda over planned genocide
Rwanda, won't you be strong like a lion
Tune in the transistor
And listen to the news
Cause once a week it hits ya
Heart broken and blue
It's the voice over Africa
so stop peregrination
So listen very closely to half a million dead souls
Rwanda yeah your moon shines bright
Rwanda over planned genocide
Rwanda, won't you be strong like a lion
It's complicated when facts come slow
Mass destruction mass confusion
Whats the difference to the orphan
Orphans of the dead
When no more machine guns strike and there's silence instead
Rwanda yeah your moon shines bright
Rwanda over planned genocide
