- The 10th Imam was known by many titles: Al Haadi (The guide) and Al Naqi (clean, pure, immaculate) being the most famous - Imams were not just good people, they are the link between Allah and Us. He is the ultimate decision maker, but they intercede on our behalf. - Guidance was always there for us, from the first Prophet all the way to the 12th Imam. Shia belief says this was divine guidance. As long as you cling to the Qur'an and Ahlul bayt, you will never go astray. - Ziyarat Jamiah, composed by 10th Imam, which describes the position and roles of the Imams: The leaders of guidance, the lamps of darkness, they are the signs of Taqwa and piety, the possessors of Intelligence and holders of wisdom, heirs to the prophets. The ideal role models. The proofs of Allah for the people of this world and Akhira. The source of knowing Allah, the store of Allahs blessings, the minds of Allahs wisdom... - Their personal lives are sources of guidance: The Imam had a servant by the name of Al Kafu. Of his duties, he had to put a bucket of water for the Imam for Namaaz e shab and fajr before he went to sleep. One night Al Kafu forgot about it and went to sleep. He awoke when he heard the Imam, realizing he forgot the bucket. He went to the Imam, when the Imam saw him he said "Do you not know the method of my wudu? Even in cold nights I do it (with cold water). However tonight you kept me warm water." However Kafu had not put the water there... The Imam exclaimed that Allah had put it there for him. Allah becomes angry when someone does not realize or accept the gifts and blessings from Allah. - A story: A Christian man in Iraq, Yusuf Bin Yaqub, during the time of Mutawakkil. He came to someones home, they became good friends. The persons father asked him what brought him to Baghdad, Mutawakkil summoned him. He of course had to accept. He said he insured his life with 100 dinars with Allah, he brought the money with the intention to give to Imam Naqi, since he knew he was the intercession to go through. He came back 3 days later, he later said he went to Samarrah, and went to visit Imam Naqi (despite being forbidden by Mutawakkil to go visit him). At the door, the Servent answered, and the servent knew immediately that this was Yusuf Bin Yaqub. The Imam told the man that his son would become a Shia Muslim in the future. - The story of Shaytan: When told to do Sajda to Adam, he refused. Though someone may consider this Loyal (only doing sajdah to Allah), this was wrong, since to pray to Allah is to do what he pleases. Example as well: Fasting and Praying when travelling (Surah Baqara). Allah has given us a convenience, to reject that convenience is to insult Allah. Same rules apply to when one can do Hajj, how much to give in Zakat, etc. - This relates to how our Namaaz is done, seperating the Zuhr and Asr namaaz. The sunnis believe that you can combine in emergencies. However the prophet was known to do this from time to time. He stated this was so the "Ummah would not be inconvenienced". Thus, we cannot denounce someone who combines the 2 namaaz, since its a convenience and gift from Allah, and we cannot reject it! Similarly how Sunnis cut meat is totally fine, though you can say you want it a certain way, you cannot say that is the way it HAS to be done. This also applies for how to pray when you're elderly and the like "People say praying Zuhr and Asr together is a convenience, Shias have made it a habit, even though the Prophet used to seperate his prayers. This is true, but look at the hadith of the Prophet. The Prophet once combined it without any reason. When asked why, he said 'So that my Ummat would not find itself in inconvenience or difficulties.' He has given the example. So we don't condemn anyone who is seperating it, but don't denounce those who combine them." "If a Sunni slaughters an animal according to his fiqh, the Shia fiqh accepts that zabiha. This is part of the Seera of the Shias from the days of the A'ima til this time. You can choose not to eat it, but don't demean those who do." "The Sharia does not want to put people into difficulty".
