It’s a Small World: Deaf Similitude and Deaf Universalism This symposium is based on a book that we worked on, titled It’s a Small World: International Deaf Spaces and Encounters (forthcoming end of 2015 or early 2016). First, we will situate the book within the study of deaf transnationalism and introduce the book themes and some important concepts around which the book is organised, namely deaf similitude (ie the idea of DEAF-SAME) and deaf universalism. Then, authors who are contributing to the book will share their research findings and experiences with regard to international deaf encounters. In total there will be eight five-minute presentations. 1. Hilde Haualand: Deaf transnational gatherings at the turn of the 21st century and some afterthoughts 2. Mark Zaurov: Deaf Jewish Space and "Deaf-same": The International Conferences of Deaf Jews in the 20th century 3. Maartje De Meulder: Sign language recognition: Tensions between specificity and universalism in international deaf discourses 4. Rezenet Moges: Challenging Sign Language Lineages and Geographies: The case of Eritrean, Finnish and Swedish Sign Languages 5. Khadijat Rashid: A Deaf Leadership Program in Nigeria: Notes on a complicated endeavor 6. Outi Toura-Jensen: Changing the World (or not): Reflecting on interactions with the Global South during the Frontrunners program 7. http://trinities.org/blog/podcast-82-dr-oliver-crisp-on-libertarian-calvinism-and-universalism/ In this interview, Dr. Oliver Crisp and I continue to discuss his explorations of the boundaries of Reformed tradition. His comments are, as usual, candid, creative, and insightful. Can a Calvinist consistently believe that humans have hat philosophers call "libertarian" freedom? In his Deviant Calvinism (kindle), Dr. Crisp suggests that a Calvinist can, although he doesn't himself believe in libertarian freedom. And what about universalism, the doctrine that eventually, all saved? If as Augustinians and Calvinists think, salvation is 100% God's doing, and God is wholly good, mustn't he then save all? Some have argued from universalism based on a few passages in the New Testament and/or by making philosophical arguments. As a Calvinist, Dr. Crisp feels the pull of universalism, but resists it for biblical reasons. Weekly podcast exploring views about the Trinity, and more generally about God and Jesus in Christian theology and philosophy. Debates, interviews, and historical and contemporary perspectives. Rev. Andy Burnette - January 4, 2015 As we begin the new year, we will talk about the important distinction between a faith in which you can 'believe whatever you want,' and the liberal faith we actually practice as Unitarian Universalists. What authority does tradition hold for us?

Rev Gail has a wide range discussion of UU topics ranging from genetic mutation responsible for a disease known as "gigantism" or acromegaly which made Goliath so large but vulnerable in battle. The discussion continues with a discussion of the five smooth stones of David and the five jagged stone of Rev. Nancy Bowen. Gail finishes the UU teachings by asking us to focus on five ordinary types of objects—stones, incense, drums, crosses, and bread—with which we connect in our pursuit of religious meaning and fulfillment.

In this video I share a story of a Christian Universalist and a Baptist. It may not all be a historical event but I believe there is something we can learn from this story. May the truth be known.
Rev. Greg Ward, Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley, January 25, 2015
The first fruits of the Prophecy of the prophets is manifesting as the first fruits in the New Mystics revelations that is causing a stir in the old church Ideas which wants to pass judgement and remember the sins of others is passing away. It is written Behold I create all things new. The perfection of the gospel message is transmitted when we see in alignment with how God sees now, with the new covenant in force, to draw everyone irresistibly to our beloved Lord Jesus, remembering no more their sins and transgressions. This is really good news to the one who is perceiving the world and others like this and for those who meet such heavenly beings in this world. I mean that literally as such fruits are dropping off such ecstatic worshipers of God as we speak producing more ecstatic fruits! As this perfected Gospel Message is realized in more and more believers even the worst of sinners will be drawn to Jesus as who can resist a love that does not remember their transgressions and does not Judge them but showers undeserved mercy and love on everyone as it is the Christ who has been longing for this day having his way of lavishing his abundant grace through them.
A hearty thanks to Matt Spinks drinking and sharing his videos how to get wasted on Jesus because this I found to be the real gospel message of those who believe in me shall never hunger and thirst for the bread and wine of heaven. Preach from the fullness and goodness of this experience, now there will be substance and influence of heaven manifesting on earth through verbal and non verbal transmission of the gospel Here is a link to Matt Spinks Subjective, Objective Gospel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7z7bgSrZ9Sk
Visiting United Methodist Minister, Kalen Fristad, of Destined For Salvation Ministries, recounts the history of Universalism and talks about how Universalist thought processes change one's outlook on life and salvation.
The LIE of universalism that says all roads lead to God, that because of God’s love and mercy, everyone will somehow make it to Heaven. This is the same lie that sadly is preached from the pulpits of many of our churches. If that is true, then Jesus is a liar and the Bible is not true! If that is true then Jesus’ death on the cross meant nothing and you don’t have to put your faith in Jesus to be saved, but simply believe whatever you want to believe and when you die you will make it to Heaven!

Sydney Morning Herald 2015-04-10Universalism, in its primary sense, refers to religious, theological, and philosophical concepts with universal application or applicability. Religion in this context is defined as a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. Universalism is a term used to identify particular doctrines considering all people in their formation. Universalism in the religious context claims that religion or religious man (sic) is a universal quality. This can be contrasted with nonuniversalist religions.
In its secondary sense, a church or community that calls itself Universalist may emphasize the universal principles of most religions and accept other religions in an inclusive manner, believing in a universal reconciliation between humanity and the divine. For example, some forms of Abrahamic religions like Judaism, Christianity, and Islam happened to claim the universal value of their doctrine and moral principles, and feel inclusive.
Robert Holmes "Rob" Bell Jr. (born August 23, 1970 in Ingham County, Michigan) is an American author and pastor. He is the founder of Mars Hill Bible Church located in Grandville, Michigan and is also the featured speaker in a series of spiritual short films called NOOMA. In 2011 Time magazine named Bell one of the 100 most influential people in the world. He is the author of the New York Times bestsellers Love Wins and Velvet Elvis. Under his leadership Mars Hill Bible Church was one of the fastest-growing churches in America.
Bell is the son of Judge Robert Holmes Bell, who was nominated by Ronald Reagan to the federal judiciary and publicly confirmed by the United States Senate. Bell grew up in a traditional Christian environment. In 2011, Bell was recognized as a member of the 2011 Time 100 list.
Bell attended Wheaton College. While at Wheaton, he roomed with Ian Eskelin of All Star United. With friends Dave Houk, Brian Erickson, Steve Huber and Chris Fall, he formed the indie rock band, "_ton bundle", which was reminiscent of bands such as R.E.M. and Talking Heads. This is when _ton bundle wrote the song "Velvet Elvis", based upon the same Velvet Elvis painting that he used in his first book Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith. Wheaton College was also where Bell met his wife, Kristen. The band _ton bundle started to gain some local fame and was even asked to perform at large events, but when Bell was struck with viral meningitis these plans fell through.
William Franklin "Billy" Graham, Jr. (born November 7, 1918) is an American evangelical Christian evangelist, ordained as a Southern Baptist minister, who rose to celebrity status with national media backing of William Randolph Hearst and Henry Luce in 1949. His sermons were broadcast on radio and television, with some still re-broadcast today.
Graham is notable for having been a spiritual adviser to several United States Presidents; he was particularly close to Dwight D. Eisenhower and Richard M. Nixon. During the civil rights movement, he began to support integrated seating for his revivals and crusades; in 1957 he invited Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. to jointly preach at a huge revival in New York City, where they appeared together at Madison Square Garden, and bailed the minister out of jail in the 1960s when he was arrested in demonstrations.
Having built an evangelical empire and organized huge events worldwide, Graham has personally preached the Gospel to more people than any other person in history. His institutions include a variety of media and publishing outlets. According to his staff, more than 3.2 million people have responded to the invitation at Billy Graham Crusades to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. As of 2008, Graham's estimated lifetime audience, including radio and television broadcasts, topped 2.2 billion.
