The Taliban maintains a stronghold along the border with Afghanistan; the conflict with India over control of Kashmir has worsened in recent months; and in December Pakistan suffered the deadliest terrorist attack in its history when Pakistani Taliban attacked a school in Peshawar, killing over 100 students. However, some positive signs of change have emerged. The Pakistani army has ramped up efforts to combat the Taliban and other militants. Relations with Afghanistan have improved since Ashraf Ghani was elected president, promising greater security cooperation along the border. And US Secretary of State John Kerry is working to help India and Pakistan mend relations. Will these efforts be enough to ensure future stability? Pakistan expert Christine Fair will discuss Pakistan’s security concerns and the outlook for this complex region. Speaker Christine Fair is Assistant Professor of Security Studies Program for the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. The Taliban's War on Women: Taliban violence against women in Afghanistan has never gone away. Disturbing stories of suppression and brutality show a society hanging in the balance. For downloads and more information visit: http://www.journeyman.tv/64389/short-films/the-talibans-war-on-women.html The recent online video of the Taliban executing a 22-year-old woman in front of a crowd of cheering men shocked the world. As Taliban aggression intensifies, how much has actually changed in Afghanistan? At the height of the Taliban's rule in Afghanistan in 1999, a burqa-clad woman was executed in Kabul's main football stadium. Footage of the killing shocked the world and galvanised international opposition to the Taliban's brutal rule. Yet just two months ago, 22-year-old Najiba was mercilessly killed by the Taliban, just one hour's drive from Kabul. The Taliban created a fake court and once they decided she was guilty, executed her within an hour. "It was tyrannical and barbaric - it is impossible that the law would allow what they did", says Mullah Badam, who witnessed the killing. Speaking to Afghan women it's evident that violent abuse is still commonplace. 18-year-old Mumtaz had acid thrown on her face by her would-be husband, who she had refused to marry. "They would not let me look in the mirror. I cried a lot", she says. But there are women who are fighting back, including MP Fawzia Koofi, who plans to take on Hamid Karzai for the presidency. An outspoken champion of women's rights, she has faced assassination attempts and numerous death threats. She argues that for her male political opposition, "women's rights are a matter of sacrifice". With the Allied forces set to withdraw by 2014, this disturbing report highlights just how precarious the situation remains for the future of Afghan society. Taliban Child Fighters: Meet the children imprisoned for attempted suicide bombings and other militant actions carried out by the Afghanistan Taliban For downloads and more information visit: http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=66577&bid;=2 More than 200 Taliban children, many recruited as suicide bombers, are being held in special prisons across Afghanistan. Brought to you by the foremost documentarian on the Taliban and film maker of 'The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan', we meet these captured child fighters and hear their stories. As NATO prepares to pull out of Afghanistan, they leave behind a country at the mercy of a resurgent Taliban. Vulnerable children are easy prey, many of whom have known nothing but war. The next generation aren't simply witnesses to the ongoing fighting; some of them have also become participants. "The Taliban are good. The Taliban are building our country", a young boy tells the camera, head on. This is Afghanistan's terrorist generation. "It was one of these vests. They told me to blow myself up at a checkpoint". 10-year-old Neaz was offered 50 Afghanis (60p) for his young life. He was seized by the Taliban after the death of his family and prized for this special mission. As well as suicide mission preparations, their crimes include the laying of improvised explosive devices and ambush. From the unrepentant to the lucky ones who got away, the willing and the reluctant, Taliban Child Fighters documents the experiences of captured child fighters. With unprecedented access, in and out of jails, it provides a unique perspective on an ongoing conflict, raising key questions about the legacy of western intervention in Afghanistan. The Enemy Within (2013) - Inside Pakistan's Desperate War With The Taliban For downloads and more information visit: http://www.journeyman.tv/?lid=65884&bid;=2 Out of bounds for most Pakistanis, this report gains rare access to a deeply troubled corner of Pakistan. The army claims it has South Waziristan under control, but is it a ticking time bomb of extremism? In a military hospital in Islamabad, hundreds of "profoundly damaged and disabled" soldiers are being treated. They've come from the western tribal belt, where for the last nine years Pakistan has been waging a largely hidden war against extremists. "There has been this double game that has gone on for many years, of Pakistan supporting the NATO presence in Afghanistan and at the same time allowing the Afghan Taliban to operate against the NATO forces", explains Pakistan's foremost expert on Islamists in the region, Ahmed Rashid. He claims the government's duplicity has radicalised a local variant of the Taliban. "There is now a full-scale extremist movement in Pakistan that is trying to overthrow the State." The agents of some of the worst acts of global terrorism inhabit this remote frontier. Yet many local villagers claim life under the Taliban "was normal" and "nobody was afraid". They argue the army intervention in the region has only been destructive. In an attempt to win hearts and minds, the army has opened a high school for girls, which aid workers argue is "critical for countering extremism". However Pakistan's Taliban vow they're determined "to escalate the war".

Daily Military News & Combat Footage at FUNKER530.com - http://vid.io/xGB The cameraman had this to say to after submitting the footage to FUNKER530: This patrol was a relief in place and I was on point leading the new guys in for the RIP. We hadn't taken much contact in this area, and it was generally considered a "safe" zone in Logar Province. We patrolled the area frequently, and the locals would regularly thank us for pushing the Taliban away from their village so they could live their daily lives without constant threat. The Taliban that we came across during this patrol were actually setting up to shoot down our new surveillance balloon that was launched in the area. The balloon caught the entire fight on camera from above, which confirmed that we killed 3 Taliban fighters during this engagement. I saw the first guy shoulder his RPG, take a knee, and point it directly at me from about 15 meters away. I'm not sure if it was luck, but I shot first and hit him twice. The rest of the team engaged immediately after. At the end of the day there were no friendly casualties, and we had eliminated 3 Taliban fighters. I wanted to share the video with the world because I was sick of hearing all the ignorant things said about what we are doing over there. People need to understand what it's like on the ground for the troops on the front line, and see what we have to deal with on a daily basis without some political spin on the story. This footage has been edited to exclude the close up graphic footage of the enemy KIA. This footage is part of an ongoing documentary of the war in Afghanistan from the soldiers' point of view. Afghanistan War: AMAZING VIDEO OF JDAM WIPING OUT TALIBAN Subscribe us for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-Y_DZV_F36phcLT7gvifYQ?sub_confirmation=1 *DISCLAIMER* The 2001–2014 phase of the War in Afghanistan was the period in which the United States invaded the country after the September 11 attacks, supported initially by close allies, and eventually by the wider North Atlantic Treaty Organization, beginning in 2003. It followed the Afghan Civil War's 1996–2001 phase. Its public aims were to dismantle al-Qaeda, and to deny it a safe base of operations in Afghanistan by removing the Taliban from power. Key allies supported the U.S. from the start, including the United Kingdom. In August 2003, NATO became involved as an alliance, taking the helm of the International Security Assistance Force. On 28 December 2014, NATO formally ended combat operations in Afghanistan and transferred full security responsibility to the Afghan government, via a ceremony in Kabul. RealCombat

Dawn 2015-04-10The Taliban (Pashto: طالبان), alternative spelling Taleban, (ṭālibān, meaning "students" in Pashto) is an Islamist militant and political group that ruled large parts of Afghanistan and its capital, Kabul, as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan from September 1996 until October 2001. It gained diplomatic recognition from three states: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The main leader of the Taliban movement is Mullah Mohammed Omar, and Kandahar is considered the birthplace of the Taliban.
While in power, it enforced its strict interpretation of Sharia law, and leading Muslims have been highly critical of the Taliban's interpretations of Islamic law. The Taliban were condemned internationally for their brutal repression of women. The majority of their leaders were influenced by Deobandi fundamentalism, and many also strictly follow the social and cultural norm called Pashtunwali. The Taliban movement is primarily made up of members belonging to Pashtun tribes, the largest ethnic group in Afghanistan.
'I'm just a middle-aged, middle-eastern camel herdin' man
I got a, 2 bedroom cave here in North Afghanistan
Things used to be real cool and they got out of hand when they moved in
They call themselves the Taliban
[ooooo yeah the taliban] [taliban baby]
Now I ain't seen my wife's face since they came here
They make her wear a scarf over her head that covers her from ear to ear
She loves the desert and the hot white sand
But man she's just like me, nah she can't stand
The Taliban [ooo taliban baby]
You know someday soon we're both gonna saddle up and it'll be
Ride Camel Ride
My old lady she'll be here with me, smilin right by my side
We should do just fine down in Palestine or maybe Turkmenistan
We'll bid a fair adieu and flip the finger to the Taliban
[oh yeah the taliban] [baby]
Now they attacked New York City cause they thought they could win
Said they would, stand and fight until the very bloody end
Mr Bush got on the phone with Iraq and Iran and said 'Now, you
knuckle-heads you better not be doin any business with the taliban'
[Taliban baby]
So we prayed to Allah with all of our might
And then those big U.S. jets came flyin one night
They dropped little bombs all over our holy land
And man you should have seen em run like rabbits, they ran
[the taliban]
You know someday soon we're both gonna saddle up and it'll be
Ride Camel Ride
My old lady she'll be here with me, smilin right by my side
We should do real fine down around Palestine or maybe Turkmenistan
We'll bid a fair audo and flip a couple fingers to the Taliban
[oh yeah, taliban]
we'll bid a fair adieu and flip a finger to The Taliban [baby]'
