http://bookinghunter.com Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales and the most populous city in Australia. Sydney's urban area is in a coastal basin, which is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the east, the Blue Mountains to the west, the Hawkesbury River to the north and the Royal National Park to the south. The most important places to visit in Sydney are: Sydney Opera House (among the world's most recognized landmarks. Set on the Sydney harbor, it is an unforgettable sight), Sydney Harbor Bridge (simply called "the bridge" by locals, courageous ones can even climb up the bridge), Bronte Beach (lesser known than Bondi, it is a beautiful beach, popular amongst families), Blue Mountains (an unspoiled mountain range filled with Eucalyptus trees. It is located 30 miles from Sydney, and there are plenty of hiking trails), Bondi Beach (Sydney's most famous beach, its lively promenade is as exciting as the beach) and many more. This video offers a lot of tips to help you plan the perfect vacation. If you want to save time and money, the most important Sydney travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

Cardiff Castle (Welsh: Castell Caerdydd) is a medieval castle and Victorian Gothic revival mansion located in the city centre of Cardiff, Wales. The original motte and bailey castle was built in the late 11th century by Norman invaders on top of a 3rd-century Roman fort. The castle was commissioned by either William the Conqueror or by Robert Fitzhamon, and formed the heart of the medieval town of Cardiff and the Marcher Lord territory of Glamorgan. In the 12th century the castle began to be rebuilt in stone, probably by Robert of Gloucester, with a shell keep and substantial defensive walls being erected. Further work was conducted by Richard de Clare in the second half of the 13th century. Cardiff Castle was repeatedly involved in the conflicts between the Anglo-Normans and the Welsh, being attacked several times in the 12th century, and stormed in 1404 during the revolt of Owain Glyndŵr. Mid-Wales: and a lonely bachelor avoids personal contact as much as humanly possible, despite the best efforts of his well-meaning but nosey next door neighbours. Gwilym Lloyd whiles away his time, pottering in the garden, learning the harmonica and writing letters to women serving long-term prison sentences in various jails around the world. Women that he knows he'll never have to meet. When South Londoner Layla O'Dowd is released on early parole and suddenly shows up on the the doorstep of Gwilym's rural Welsh cottage out of the blue, his whole world is turned upside down. In the modern social media jungle of internet profiles and identity theft, the art of letter writing may seem quaintly old fashioned, but that doesn't mean that it's not fraught with the very same dangers. Craig Hawes is a new Welsh writer. Jailbird Lover is his first Afternoon Drama. He takes a dark subject and shines a comedic light on crime, nosey neighbours, waterfalls, fate and true romance. The music was played by harmonica virtuoso Julian Jackson. A BBC Cymru/Wales Production, directed by Emma Bodger. Duration: 45 minutes. First Broadcast: Thursday 22 March 2012.
A fascinating documentary about the early days of Wales's first commercial radio station with some wonderful vintage footage
The new round of ITV franchise applications is approaching and HTV Wales decides to blow its own trumpet a little in this locally-screened documentary looking behind-the-scenes at the Welsh ITV station and celebrating the previous 21 years of achievements at HTV. It's obviously a bit of a PR job but does contain interesting information about the structure of the company and its broadcast operations. In fact, it was the very non-TV diversification referred to here that got the station into a few financial scrapes into the new licence period from January 1993 when the economy tanked and recession beckoned. I suspect HTV's "fine art" division didn't seem like such a great investment then! It's an odd production that looks like it was made as a corporate promo for potential investors and then hurriedly re-edited to fill a Sunday evening slot. Oddities include the choice of opening theme (a sort of sub Miss World thing) and managing director Huw Davies starting the whole show off with what can only be described as butthurt about a press reference to HTV being a small company.

With less than a week until Scotland goes to the polls in the independence referendum, BBC Wales looks at the success of its nationalist party - the SNP. First Minister Alex Salmond has made it such a success, next Thursday's vote is too close to call. But why hasn't Wales' nationalist party, Plaid Cymru, achieved the same level of success? Political editor Nick Servini examines the issues - including the role played by Labour.

The auditor general is being called on to investigate claims £10m was spent on improving roads to Cardiff Bay on the understanding the BBC would move there. South Wales Central AM Eluned Parrott said she had written to Huw Vaughan Thomas asking him to intervene. Former First Minister Rhodri Morgan has accused the BBC of a "breach of faith" following a decision to relocate its headquarters to Cardiff city centre. A BBC Cymru Wales spokesman has said Mr Morgan is mistaken. The auditor general's office said it had not yet received Ms Parrott's letter. But it said it would be "considering the issues" and would look at the "extent to which this matter warrants further audit scrutiny". It was announced last week that BBC Wales will move its HQ from Llandaff to a purpose-built building in Central Square in Cardiff. But Mr Morgan has since claimed the Welsh government agreed to invest £10m in new roads before building work on BBC Wales' Roath Lock drama village began.

Sydney Morning Herald 2015-03-27Wales i/ˈweɪlz/ (Welsh: Cymru;Welsh pronunciation: [ˈkəm.rɨ] (
listen)) is a country that is part of the United Kingdom and the island of Great Britain, bordered by England to its east and the Atlantic Ocean and Irish Sea to its west. It has a population of three million, and a total area of 20,779 km2 (8,023 sq mi). Wales has over 1,200 km (750 mi) of coastline, including its offshore islands; the largest, Anglesey (Ynys Môn), is also the largest island in the Irish Sea. Wales is largely mountainous, with its highest peaks in the north and central areas, especially in Snowdonia (Eryri), which contains Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), its highest summit.
During the Iron Age and early medieval period, Wales was inhabited by the Celtic Britons. A distinct Welsh national identity emerged in the centuries after the Roman withdrawal from Britain in the 5th century, and Wales is regarded as one of the modern Celtic nations today. Gruffydd ap Llywelyn was recognised as King of Wales in 1057. Llywelyn ap Gruffydd's death in 1282 marked the completion of Edward I of England's conquest of Wales. The castles and town walls erected to ensure its permanence are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Owain Glyndŵr briefly restored independence to what was to become modern Wales, in the early 15th century. Wales was subsequently annexed by England under the Laws in Wales Acts 1535–1542 since when, excluding those matters now devolved to Wales, English law has been the legal system of Wales and England. Distinctive Welsh politics developed in the 19th century. Welsh Liberalism, exemplified in the early 20th century by Lloyd George, was displaced by the growth of socialism and the Labour Party. Welsh national feeling grew over the century; Plaid Cymru was formed in 1925 and The Welsh Language Society in 1962. The National Assembly for Wales, created in 1999 following a referendum, holds responsibility for a range of devolved policy matters.
