Kafka - Truths

Another great mini-cd that came ten years ago in my mailbox, in the golden ages of tape-trading. Kafka born in genova in 1995 as a melodic hardcore punk band but quickly changed their sound and their influences to more metallic edge paths. They were a straight-edge band, that everyone that have seen them live back in the day in villa amalias have only good words to say.

To understand their sound better, think Blackfish records sound, yep Ian Glasper's label with that early 00's good metallic-hardcore releases. In this mini cd the band have clear influences from the NYHC scene with all that great mid-tempo parts that turns out the delight soundtrack of a violent mosh-pit. Their guitar riffs make clear that the band loves Slayer, especially on the opening riff of Generaziona di stupidita.

Add some really screaming low-edged vocals and Kafka turns into the ultra-chaotic hardcore band in my ears, or it's just that when i buyed that disc i was only 15, so the band sounded to me really extreme, but then i still enjoy this shit. One is for sure, Kafka alongside Frammenti, have very igh standards for the italian hardcore of the late 90's. Two bands worth checking out. Last but not least : "If Biohazard didn't play for money and were from italy their name would propably be Kafka." and "The perfect impact is of course live, with a high shrill voice over a chaotic metallic background that blows anything up.".

A.P.D. - demo

Some time ago dany from torino has sent me some links for the hardcore punk band frammenti, and a couple days ago sent me a link to check out his old band from torino (turin). In his own words : APD (antisocial personality disorder) it's my old band. Shitty, downtuned, crust / grind. Our drummer was the same of Social Inseurity and Afterbirth at they start.
Luka used to live in scortland, and when he come back we started to play to support our friends Ratbull Bite, but they fast broke up and their gutarrist joined us on APD and we played for three-four years only in italy, in our anarcho/punk scene. Alex ,our bass player is living @ EL PASo, our oldest Squat.
4 guys with too many different priorities, work,  politics, stupidity etc... 4 years seems too much time for APD... (bob-voice, luka-drums, alex-bass, marco-guitar, dany-guitar)

Now, some guys from APD created the band Zeitgeist...
Here you get well played old-scholl grindcore with topics against state and gods (in general, including Gantzos religion) with crusty mid-tempo parts before blastbeat attacks. You may not get the new (!!!!) nasum album here but this band is very good for the type of music that plays (i have to admit : i'm not the biggest fan of grindcore)...
Hope you'll enjoy them... cheers daniel

Hour of the chicken :
Never heard of A.P.D. before, and i guess i won't hear anything new since they have apparently dis-banned!

Actually, this isn't bad at all...indeed this isn't your new Nasum-like favorite band, but they definately have their moments...This is something between the older grindcore stuff (Napalm Death, Brutal Truth etc.) and the more modern tunes of bands like Nasum, Rotten Sound (fuck!!!) and Gadget.. Death like riffs, which are followed by some rocking crusty parts, with dual vocal trade-offs from deep gutteral grouwl to screaming scorcher.

Some tracks have a kind of a good production (the ones with the more mature structure and more powerfull riffs), while others don't follow expectations (the older ones i guess..more raw but in a bad way), but since this is a demo they are easily excused!

Not bad at all.

Frammenti - L' apesso 10"

I'm very happy 'cos in the short time of the existence of this blog different people from different parts of this world are visiting it more and more often, leave comments etc...
A couple of days ago a guy from torino, italy send me an email with some links for a great band called Frammenti. He send me their discography but i have heard only this amazing 10'' (that i have it on vinyl and has so beautiful drawings, inserts etc) so i will post only this...
thanx to dany from torino....

Frammenti is a hardcore punk band from torino (or turin), italy and were active from the mid til' the late 90's..
they had released a bunch of things that i'll post someday. Here we have the 10'' called "L' apesso", 11 tracks of melodic hardcore, heavy influeced from the early italian hardcore scene with double sweet vocals, catchy and beautiful guitar riffs and "marching" hard-hitting drums with one cover of Negazione plus two tracks from the compilation new days rising (a very good comp with bands like cojoba, attentat sonore etc)...
The track "La ballata del pinelli" is a "free-cover" of the well-known italian song about the murder of the anarchist pinelli from the italian police (dario fo has also created a threatical play for this state murder)
Hope you'll enjoy it...
