Los Angeles International Airport (IATA: LAX, ICAO: KLAX, FAA LID: LAX) is the primary airport serving the Greater Los Angeles Area, the second-most populated metropolitan area in the United States. It is most often referred to by its IATA airport code LAX, with the letters pronounced individually. LAX is located in southwestern Los Angeles along the Pacific coast in the neighborhood of Westchester, 16 miles (26 km) from Downtown Los Angeles. It is owned and operated by Los Angeles World Airports, an agency of the Los Angeles city government formerly known as the Department of Airports. In 2012, LAX was the sixth busiest airport in the world with 63,688,121 passengers, an increase of 3% from 2011. The airport holds the claim for "the world's busiest origin and destination (O & D) airport" in 2011, meaning it had the most non-connecting passengers.[6][not in citation given] It is also the only airport to rank among the top five U.S. airports for both passenger and cargo traffic. LAX is the busiest airport in the Greater Los Angeles Area; however, other airports including Bob Hope Airport, John Wayne Airport, Long Beach Airport, and LA/Ontario International Airport also serve the region.

First of all, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy upcoming new year. May everyone be prosperous and healthy in 2013. Here is a short video to take...
This video is property of Train_PlaneHub, "RachaelMatt" please do NOT re-upload this or any of my footage! 1080p HD! During my trip to California I couldn't help but check out the iconic airport that is LAX for some spotting! This was all filmed on Friday 12th September 2014 from about midday until 4:30pm. LAX gets some incredible traffic which we rarely if not never see in the UK, so I made this video and filmed most traffic movements, all the little ones which we don't get in Europe altogether, not just the heavies. However it does still include absolutely tonnes of heavies too! I didn't know which bits to cut so I didn't... Here's everything I filmed :) So here goes, INCLUDES: Airbus A380's from: British Airways, Air France, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, Korean Air & Asiana! Boeing 747's from: Virgin Atlantic, KLM, China Airlines, Cargolux and Lufthansa (747-8!) Boeing 777's from: American, Cathay Pacific, ANA, Etihad, Alitalia, China Cargo, Air China & Japan Airlines! Also includes: Air Tahiti Nui A340 (my first time seeing one!) Aeroflot A330, Hawaiian A330, United 787, LAN 767, Delta 767's, United 757's, Delta 757's, FedEx 757, Air Canada A321, Air Canada Rouge A319's & A320's, Southwest 737's, Volaris, Virgin America, Alaska, US Airways, Aeromexico, JetBlue, Avianca, Allegiant, Spirit, several bizjets and still loads more on top of all that! Runway 24 left & right are certainly more than enough to keep me entertained, with a never ending flow of arrivals and departures some of which line at perfect times for the perfect race of a departure & arrival! A few of which you can see in the video. The departures on RWY24L I was surprised at how soon after one aircraft has rotated the next one is rolling, you can see on several occasions in the video that I'm filming one aircraft climb away and you can already hear the next one powering up! Amazing. Apologies for the shaky footage in places, didn't have a tripod so was all handheld and apologies for the 3 annoying trees in the way as well, but not much I could do about them. Thanks for watching! COMMENT, THUMBS UP, FAVOURITE, SHARE & SUBSCRIBE!!
*This video is property of Train_PlaneHub,"RachaelMatt" please do not re-upload! 1080p HD! My first time filming at LAX and what an incredible airport it is! During the late evening (later half of this video) the sun which sets over the Pacific lines up with the airport and creates beautiful golden lighting effect with the aircraft arriving from the east on Runways 24R/L & 25R/L! I was there for just over 2 hours and got all of these stunning heavies. Weather that day wasn't the best, bit grey compared to every other day I was in LA, but still very hot none the less. I've included the flight numbers and origin/destination of some of the ones I knew. *I'm British so if you're American the date is backwards... It was filmed on Monday September 8th 2014. INCLUDES IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE: 1. EVA Air Boeing 777-300 Arrival 2. Delta Boeing 757-300 Arrival 3. Saudi Arabian Government A340-200 Departing RWY25L 4. Hawaiian Airbus A330 HA10 Arrival from Honolulu 5. British Airways Airbus A380 Departure to Heathrow 6. Iberia A340-600 Arrival From Madrid 7. Another EVA Air Boeing 777-300 Arrival 8. Hawaiian A330 Departure back to Honolulu 25. Iberia A340-600 Departure back to Madrid AND Delta Boeing 767-300 Arrival racing down RWY24R&L; into the sunset! 26. Delta Boeing 757-200 Arrival 27. Air China Cargo Boeing 777-200LR Arrival 28. Turkish Boeing 777-300 Departure to Istanbul AND Philippine A340-300 Arrival from Manila racing down RWY's 24L&R;! 29. China Southern A380 Arrival from Guangzhou. Beautiful evening and a fantastic variation of traffic! Plenty of heavies, many of which I've never seen before in London and beautiful sunset towards the end! The racing shots of arrivals on 24R and departures on 24L are just incredible to witness! Nice seeing all the other European heavies after their long flight across too! :) I've got another longer video filmed at LAX a few days after this which includes more traffic, not just heavies and loads more variation! So look out for that coming very soon too! Check out all my other videos filmed during my trip to the U.S listed here below! Travel video about destination Los Angeles in the United States of America. Los Angeles is synonymous with Hollywood, and Beverly Hills is its famous suburb with neat parks and blossoming flower beds. There's also the Walk of Fame, Mann's Chinese Theatre and Rodeo Drive, the most exclusive shopping mile in the world. Everything in Hollywood is different, including a cemetery of the famous. Even in the funeral hall, with its larger-than-life religious figures, it is as though it is all part of a fantastic film set. Universal Studios is the largest and most active film and television studio in the world as well as a popular family day out, being one of the most successful amusement parks in the U.S.A. and its many famous film sets are instantly recognizable. Since its opening in 1955, Disneyland has become a worldwide phenomenon. The world's original and longest surviving theme park provides an enchanting mix of shows, attractions and well known cartoon characters and the journey through Toontown on its bumpy tramway is a stimulating experience for both young and old. At weekends, those who want to see but, above all, be seen, make for Venice Beach. The sandy beach is relaxing and its many pavements are popular with joggers and roller skaters alike. Even by Los Angeles standards, the performers on Muscle Beach are quite outrageous and while some body-builders lift thousands of kilos, others shamelessly display their supreme egos by strutting like conceited peacocks! Built in 1908, Santa Monica Pier is reminiscent of the hazy lazy seaside resorts of the 1920s. Extending into the water some 300 metres, the pier's amusement park is constantly bursting with life, with its big wheel, swings and richly- decorated carousel. Once the most celebrated residential area of the rich and famous, today Sunset Boulevard is a busy main traffic artery. At night, when brash neon signs shine out their colorful animated messages, this famous boulevard still possesses a unique atmosphere. Los Angeles is the enormous multicultural city on America's West Coast in which film stars, earthquakes and joie de vivre are essential to life itself!

Its nickname is "The City of Angels." Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we learn more about Los Angeles, California.
Los Angeles is a huge city with several district articles containing sightseeing, restaurant, nightlife and accommodation listings. This article is about the city of Los Angeles. For the Los Angeles metropolitan area see Los Angeles County. For other places with the same name, see Los Angeles (disambiguation). The city of Los Angeles [1] (also known simply as L.A., and nicknamed the "City of Angels") is the most populous city in California. Located on a broad basin in Southern California, the city is surrounded by vast mountain ranges, valleys, forests, beautiful beaches along the Pacific Ocean, and nearby desert. The metropolitan area is the second-most populous in the United States and home to over 17 million people who hail from all parts of the globe. The metropolitan area is spread across Los Angeles County, Orange County, and parts of San Bernardino County, Riverside County, and Ventura County. Los Angeles is an important center of culture, medicine, agriculture, business, finance, energy, aerospace, science, food processing, media, international trade, and tourism. International tourists regard Los Angeles as most famous for "Hollywood," but a long-running trend in favor of outsourcing of film and television production has critically undermined the sector to the point where entertainment and media employ only about 120,000 people in the entire metro area (and most of them work in Burbank or Culver City, not Hollywood). Many major motion picture deals and premieres still occur in Los Angeles, but the vast majority of those films are actually shot elsewhere. However, some post-production, editing, promotion, distribution, and archiving work still occurs in Los Angeles. In addition, L.A. remains a major center for production of television shows and television commercials, as well as music recordings. Nowadays, the economy of Southern California is primarily driven by its other sectors: its huge oil refineries, its thousands of rather mundane factories and food processing facilities, and its busy seaports and airports, with the result that the U.S. Customs district covering the region is the busiest in the United States. Regardless, Los Angeles continues to attract millions of tourists each year drawn to its history as the place where motion pictures traditionally came from (and where the management of the six major film studios are still largely based, even though they don't make most films there any more). Furthermore, at least in the English-speaking world, it is still obligatory for most celebrities-to-be to live for several years in L.A. until they make it big in Hollywood. Most of them ultimately flee elsewhere after they get sick and tired of being chased by crazed fans, tourists, and paparazzi, and only after they've hooked up with the top talent agents in Hollywood (meaning that now the best scripts and songs come to them, rather than the other way around). Thus, L.A. is notorious for its celebrity-oriented culture, as exemplified by the "star maps" sold at tourist traps which feature known locations of celebrities' homes.

Palm Beach Post 2015-04-08Los Angeles (i/lɒs ˈændʒələs/ loss-AN-jə-ləs; Spanish: [los ˈaŋxeles], which is written Los Ángeles; British pronounciation /lɒs ˈændʒəliːz/ loss-AN-jə-leez) with a population at the 2010 United States Census of 3,792,621, is the most populous city in the state of California, and the second most populous in the United States, after New York City. It has an area of 468.67 square miles (1,213.8 km2), and is located in Southern California. Often known by its initials L.A., the city is the focal point of the larger Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana metropolitan statistical area and Greater Los Angeles Area region, which contain 12,828,837 and nearly 18 million people respectively as of 2010, making it one of the most populous metropolitan areas in the world and the second largest in the United States. Los Angeles is also the seat of Los Angeles County, the most populated and one of the most ethnically diverse counties in the United States, while the entire Los Angeles area itself has been recognized as the most diverse of the nation's largest cities. The city's inhabitants are referred to as "Angelenos".
An international airport is an airport that can accommodate international flights. They are typically equipped with customs and immigration facilities. Such airports are usually larger, and often feature longer runways and facilities to accommodate the large aircraft commonly used for international or intercontinental travel. International airports often also host domestic flights (flights which occur within the country), to serve travellers to and from these regions of the country.
In many smaller countries most airports are international airports, so the concept of an "international airport" has little meaning. In certain countries however, there is a sub-category of limited international airports which handle international flights, but are limited to short-haul destinations (often due to geographical factors) or are mixed civilian/military airports.[citation needed]
Many airports with regularly scheduled international service have the word "International" in their official names, but others, including such major airports as London Heathrow Airport, Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, Frankfurt Airport, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport do not. Conversely, some airports which call themselves international airports, especially in smaller United States cities, in fact have no scheduled international airline passenger service but do have customs and immigration facilities serving charter, cargo and general aviation flights. At many of these airports customs and immigration services are only available with several hours advance notice. One example of such an airport is Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan. A few, such as Gary/Chicago International Airport in Gary, Indiana, are in fact not international airports at all; they are not designated as airports of entry but aspire to become such in the future and added "international airport" to their names as a marketing tool.[citation needed]
LAX is located in southwestern Los Angeles along the Pacific coast in the neighborhood of Westchester, 16 miles (26 km) from the downtown core and is the primary airport of Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), an agency of the Los Angeles city government formerly known as the Department of Airports.
In 2011, LAX was the sixth busiest airport in the world after Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Beijing Capital International Airport, London Heathrow Airport, Chicago O'Hare International Airport, and Tokyo Haneda International Airport with 61,862,052 passengers.
LAX is the busiest airport in the Greater Los Angeles Area, but other airports including Bob Hope Airport, John Wayne Airport, Long Beach Airport, and LA/Ontario International Airport also serve the region. LAX is also the busiest airport in California and the U.S. West Coast in terms of flight operations, passenger traffic and air cargo activity, leading it to be referred to as the "Gateway to the Pacific Rim."
Wide awake
I'm on a plane out of town
Fly away
From the weight of the world
On the ground
I'm international
But I don't know where to go
Hopefully where summer days
Can melt these winter bones
I'm international
And you're orbiting my brain
I'm reduced to writing nothing
All over napkins on the plane
Wide awake
I'm on a plane out of town
Taking pictures of myself
In the mirror on wall
Trying hard not to make my space
The loneliest place of all
Early warning all across the sky
Clouds are rolling in on your light
Any change from here would be
The wisest change of all
Any place from here up here
Would be the finest place to fall
Wide awake
I'm on a plane out of town
I'm losing track of myself
On all the time zone lines
And if I daylight save
Do I jump ahead or fall behind?
And I'm fine 'cause I know
Any plane I ride
Can fly me home
And I'm fine 'cause I know
You know, I know
It's easy to see
Clouds were built for dreams
Because nothing up there
Is as easy as it seems
I step out
And try to walk around
As I fall, I look up
And wonder why it let me down
I'm international
That's twice the speed of sound
I just hope I take off from here
Before I hit the ground
If I could get to heaven
By an airplane in the sky
We would always be in love
And we would always love to fly
Wide awake
I'm on a plane out of town
Taking pictures of myself
In the mirror on wall
Trying hard not to make my space
The loneliest place of all
And I'm fine 'cause I know
Any plane I ride
Can fly me home
And I'm fine 'cause I know
You know, I know
And I'm fine 'cause I know
Any plane I ride
Can fly me home
And I'm fine 'cause I know
Any plane I ride
Can fly me home
You know, I know
