Tora! Tora! Alcuni esterni furono girati in Argentina. MONTSERRAT CABALLE "Tanti affetti" Rossini La Donna del Lago April 7, 1968 Philharmonic Hall, New York Alfredo Antonini conductor BEFORE AND AFTER Here's a classic performance of a real Rossini showstopper by Montsy in her prime! In the BEFORE, the overall sound is very good for 1968. But those poor sound engineers had one heckuva time trying to balance the vocal dynamics of La Suberba between her floating pianissimi and full throated fortes! As great as the performance was, most of the forte passages ended up being distorted, and there was a high level of hiss throughout. In the AFTER, happily those flaws all have been corrected. Now you can really enjoy that exciting display of vocal dynamics in all their glory!

LYRICS: He sits in your room, his tomb, with a fist full of tacks Preoccupied with his vengeance Cursing the dead that can't answer him back I'm sure that he has no intentions Of looking your way, unless it's to say That he needs you to test his inventions. Can you please crawl out your window? Use your arms and legs it won't ruin you How can you say he will haunt you? You can go back to him any time you want to. He looks so truthful, is this how he feels Trying to peel the moon and expose it With his businesslike anger and his bloodhounds that kneel If he needs a third eye he just grows it He just needs you to talk or to hand him his chalk Or pick it up after he throws it. Can you please crawl out your window? Use your arms and legs it won't ruin you How can you say he will haunt you? You can go back to him any time you want to. Why does he look so righteous while your face is so changed Are you frightened of the box you keep him in While his genocide fools and his friends rearrange Their religion of the little ten women That backs up their views but your face is so bruised Come on out the dark is beginning. Can you please crawl out your window? Use your arms and legs it won't ruin you How can you say he will haunt you? You can go back to him any time you want to.

Vincenzo Salvatore Carmelo Francesco Bellini (Italian: [vinˈtʃɛntso salvaˈtoːre karˈmɛːlo franˈtʃesko belˈliːni]). (3 November 1801, Catania, Sicily – 23 September 1835, Paris) was an Italian opera composer, who was known for his long-flowing melodic lines for which he was named "the Swan of Catania". Many years later, in 1898, Giuseppe Verdi "praised the broad curves of Bellini's melody: 'there are extremely long melodies as no-one else had ever made before. I Puritani (1834-35) Librettist Carlo Pepoli (1796–1881) after Têtes rondes et Cavaliers by François Ancelot (1794–1854) and Xavier Boniface Saintine (1798–1865) 1. Act One: All'erta! All'erta! Invan, Invan Rapir Pretendi - Riccardo (58:06) Riccardo Muti conducting the Rome RAI Symphony Orchestra and Chorus Cast:, Bonaldo Giaiotti Giovanni Antonini Mino Venturini Mirella Fiorentini Mirella Freni Sesto Bruscantini Luciano Pavarotti Review by L. Mitnick on Amazon.com This is actually not a live performance. It was a 1969 recording made by the Italian Radio Network in Rome, which is why there is no audience applause and really excellent sound (which might even be stereo!). Riccardo Muti is much less rigid here than he was to be on his later 1979 EMI studio recording with Montserrat Caballe and Alfredo Kraus, which allows the singers considerably more latitude than was the case a decade later. The singers here, of course, are top drawer. Mirella Freni sounds young, fresh, and is a beautifully lyrical Elvira. She still had at this time a few optional notes above the top C, which, admittedly, she uses sparingly, though effectively. She does not have the coloratura technique of Joan Sutherland, who, with all due respect, put in all sorts of extra coloratura interpolations and added cadenzas that were only hers to command. Nonetheless, Freni achieves a true vocal pathos and vulnerability that completely eludes Sutherland. At all points, the singing is very, very beautiful. Luciano Pavarotti is superlative here, even better, I think, than he was to be four years later, when he commercially recorded the opera with Joan Sutherland. At the time of this performance, Pavarotti was little known outside of Italy, and his voice was an instrument of sublime beauty. This is most emphatically NOT the Pavarotti who much later became a grossly overweight operatic media Bozo. If nothing else, this recording shows what a great and serious artist he would have become had his success not gone to his head (as well as the rest of his body). The sheer beauty of his singing here is something to be experienced instead of discussed. Personally, I find this "Puritani" to be the most listener-friendly around, and it's the version I return to most often

The Examiner 2014-06-11Alfredo Antonini (May 31, 1901 – November 3, 1983) was a leading Italian/American symphony conductor and composer who was active on the international concert stage as well as on the CBS radio and television networks from the 1930s through the 1960s. In 1971 he received an Emmy Award for best musical performance on television for his conducting of the premiere of Ezra Laderman's opera And David Wept for CBS television.
Maestro Antonini was born in Milan, Italy and pursued his musical studies at the Royal Conservatory in Milan. He was a student of the legendary Italian conductor Arturo Toscanini.
During the 1940s he distinguished himself as a conductor of several leading orchestras while performing on the CBS radio network. These included: the CBS Pan American Orchestra (1940–1949), the Columbia Concert Orchestra (1940–1949) and the CBS Symphony Orchestra.
He also conducted live radio broadcasts of the popular program Viva America[1] on the CBS radio network and La Cadena de las Americas (Network of the Americas) in collaboration with such noted artists as Nestor Chayres (Mexican tenor aka "El Gitano De Mexico")[2] Terig Tucci (Argentine composer/arranger) and John Serry, Sr. (Italian-American concert accordionist). Martin Luther (help·info) (10 November 1483 – 18 February 1546) was a German monk, priest, professor of theology and iconic figure of the Protestant Reformation. He strongly disputed the claim that freedom from God's punishment for sin could be purchased with money. He confronted indulgence salesman Johann Tetzel with his Ninety-Five Theses in 1517. His refusal to retract all of his writings at the demand of Pope Leo X in 1520 and the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V at the Diet of Worms in 1521 resulted in his excommunication by the pope and condemnation as an outlaw by the Emperor.
Luther taught that salvation is not earned by good deeds but received only as a free gift of God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ as redeemer from sin. His theology challenged the authority of the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church by teaching that the Bible is the only source of divinely revealed knowledge and opposed sacerdotalism by considering all baptized Christians to be a holy priesthood. Those who identify with Luther's teachings are called Lutherans.
Ernest Bloch (July 24, 1880 – July 15, 1959) was a Swiss-born American composer.
Bloch was born in Geneva and began playing the violin at age 9. He began composing soon afterwards. He studied music at the conservatory in Brussels, where his teachers included the celebrated Belgian violinist Eugène Ysaÿe. He then travelled around Europe, moving to Germany (where he studied composition from 1900–1901 with Iwan Knorr at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt), on to Paris in 1903 and back to Geneva before settling in the United States in 1916, taking American citizenship in 1924. He held several teaching appointments in the U.S., with George Antheil, Frederick Jacobi, Bernard Rogers, and Roger Sessions among his pupils. In December 1920 he was appointed the first Musical Director of the newly formed Cleveland Institute of Music, a post he held until 1925. Following this he was director of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music until 1930.
In 1941, Bloch moved to the small coastal community of Agate Beach, Oregon and lived there the rest of his life. He died in 1959 in Portland, Oregon, of cancer at the age of 78. The Bloch Memorial has been moved from near his house in Agate Beach to a more prominent location at the Newport Performing Arts Center in Newport, Oregon.
