Following some much needed rest my Peterborough adventure had come to an end on August 7, 2010, after three exciting days of explorations. Before driving back to Toronto I had a chance to interview Jeff and Sheila Roberts, owners of the Beacon by the Bay B&B.; Jeff, a former draughtsman at General Electric, came up with the idea of running a B&B; eight years ago, renovated the attic of his Georgian-era mansion and turned it into a fully self-contained suite for four people. Since then he has had guests from around the world and often hosts artists that come to visit the Peterborough Art Gallery. The views across Little Lake from the B&B; are magnificent and the location, next to DelCrary Park and Peterborough's downtown, is extremely convenient. Over these three days I had a chance to experience great food, outstanding music and theatre, I got to pedal and paddle and I met so many interesting unique, friendly and creative hospitality entrepreneurs in Peterborough. Being the insiders that they are, they already equipped me with a long list of places to visit for next time.

Welcome to the next route learning video! Starting at night time early on an autumn morning, we depart London when it's fully dark. It slowly gets lighter and you will be able to see more as we head towards Stevenage and Peterborough. You get a great sense of speed departing London in the darkness and see some really cool lighting effects you wouldn't see during the day. We are taking the first train of the day, which is the 0550am service from London Kings Cross to Leeds as far as Peterborough, calling at Stevenage along the way. I have included information about stations, points of interest, speed limits and braking points. Apologies for any lag or stutter. Here is my amateur footage of the The Festival of Railway Modelling event that was held at the East of England Showground in Peterborough, England. This video is just under 84 minutes long, so grab a comfy chair and some snacks with a drink and enjoy the footage as there is a lot to see and it is a great model railway show in my opinion. I am allowing ratings to be shown in the video, so I hope that you would consider clicking on the "Like" button if you enjoyed the video as I would appreciate that, thanks. But if this is not the case, then all I can say is thanks for taking the time to watch the video anyway. There was a nice selection of model railway layouts at the event which are in various gauges. Footage from a day visit to Peterborough station to meet up with Brad aka Greensleeves94, and later Hayden aka HomeMoviePerson. A quiet Saturday overall, but a couple of bonuses in the shape of Balfour Beatty 20142 & 20189, and three GBRf newbies, being 66755 on the Middleton Towers-Monk Bretton sand working & 66762/66764 on the Peterborough-Whitemoor loco move. Not the most productive of days - sadly 91110 and 91111 were both no-shows this time, the Slade Green move cancelled, and the bus broke down on the way home - but nevertheless still a good day out. Photos from the day can be found here:- https://www.flickr.com/photos/chriseve1979/sets/72157649297097071/

* The East Coast Main Line (ECML) is a 393-mile long (632 km) high-speed railway link between London, Peterborough, Doncaster, Wakefield, Leeds, York, Darlington, Newcastle, Edinburgh and is electrified along the whole route. Services north of Edinburgh to Aberdeen and Inverness use diesel trains. It is classed as a high-speed railway, because most of it meets the speed criterion of 125 mph (201 km/h). * The Class 801 Super Express is the electric multiple unit (EMU) variant of the Hitachi Super Express, based on the Hitachi A-train, high-speed trains to be used in the United Kingdom. They are to be built by Hitachi from 2015. The first units will be delivered for the Great Western Main Line (GWML), commencing service in 2017. These trains will be built at Hitachi's purpose built facility at Newton Aycliffe. * The original RailWorks base package contained eight routes, now most of which are available as legacy DLC. The three fictional routes that were originally introduced in RailWorks and subsequently withdrawn in Train Simulator 2013 (Hedborough North, Seebergbahn and Castle Rock Railroad) are not available as DLCs, but are available as free downloads on Steam Workshop as official uploads by Dovetail Games, branded as Classic Routes. In 2010, users could add the free Port Road route DLC to their Steam accounts, but it is no longer available. Set in the final years of steam operations, Port Road represents the branch line from Dumfries to Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright, part of the now-defunct Dumfries to Stranraer line in Scotland. The current version of the game, Train Simulator 2015, contains only three or four routes, depending on edition; East Coast Main Line: London–Peterborough, Northeast Corridor: New York–New Haven and Munich–Garmisch-Partenkirchen included with the Standard Edition, plus the Pacific Surfliner: LA–San Diego included with the Steam Edition. People who purchased Train Simulator before 18 September 2014 retained their original content, and have the option to purchase the new routes via Steam. By JMCV 2014

2015. Not 2014 as stated on opening introduction.
The Saints keep their winning streak going with a huge 34-14 win over the unbeaten Saxons. In the weeks leading to the game it was titled as the upcoming "Battle Of The Undefeated". With both the Saints and the Saxons stepping onto the field 3-0 for the season, only one team would be leaving it in the same way.... The game was of huge importance to the Saints and our win sealed our position as the top team in the National Central division.

Welbourne School children have been working together since September 2014 on a project, in association with the BBC. The BBC Ten Pieces project started with children from schools all over the country watching a special short film based on ways to interpret ten selected pieces of classical music, at the cinema. Following this, children at Welbourne School have been listening to the Ten Pieces of Classical music and working on their favourites using music and dance to create their own responses. We have just spent the Spring Term creating a dance piece in response to the classical music from Beethoven called Symphony Number 5. It is a dance about togetherness and friendships. We start with children all in their own boxes (their own worlds), then they discover that they all want to make friends and be together. But one child doesn't want to....They then spend the rest of the dance trying to persuade him to join in. The children realise that they need to 'get out of their boxes' and join together to include the child. Finally, they all come together and he is included into the group and all become one. The boxes are then piled into a tower and then discarded - no longer needed as the children want to stay friends - together - united. The ideas for the creation for the dance piece came from children, who also added their own choreography. We are very pleased and proud of what we have achieved.

noodls 2015-04-08Peterborough ( /ˈpiːtərbrə/ or i/ˈpiːtərbərə/) is a cathedral city and unitary authority area in the East of England, with an estimated population of 173,400 in June 2007. For ceremonial purposes it is in the county of Cambridgeshire. Situated 75 miles (121 km) north of London, the city stands on the River Nene which flows into the North Sea approximately 30 miles (48 km) to the north-east. The railway station is an important stop on the East Coast Main Line.
The local topography is flat and low-lying, and in some places lies below sea level. The area known as the Fens is to the east of Peterborough. The City of Peterborough includes the outlying military installation of RAF Wittering, and as a unitary authority it borders Northamptonshire and Rutland to the west, Lincolnshire to the north, and Cambridgeshire to the south and east.
Human settlement in the area dates back to before the Bronze Age, as can be seen at the Flag Fen archaeological site to the east of the current city centre. This site also shows evidence of Roman occupation. The Anglo-Saxon period saw the establishment of a monastery, then known as Medeshamstede, which later became Peterborough Cathedral. The population grew rapidly following the arrival of the railways in the 19th century, and Peterborough became an industrial centre, particularly noted for its brick manufacture.
