UNDP in Asia and the Pacific is championing innovative approaches to tackling complex development challenges of today. The in-house UNDP Asia-Pacific Innovation Fund supports new approaches to address development challenges across the region, allowing projects to experiment with creative solutions like crowdsourcing, gamification, mobile-based recycling, etc.
The report covers results achieved in 36 countries and territories in the Asia and Pacific region. It illustrates UNDP’s support to poverty reduction and conservation of natural resources, strengthening democratic governance, building resilience and responding to crisis. UNDP assisted people in strengthening livelihoods and empowering themselves.
UNDP has delivered US$2 billion in programmes in Asia and the Pacific during 2013-2014 to achieve the mutual aspirations of partner governments and donors in UNDP’s three main areas of development: inclusive development pathways, inclusive and eff ective governance and resilience. Promoting gender equality is a cross-cutting theme of our work.
UNDP partners with people at all levels of society to help build nations that can withstand crisis, and drive and sustain the kind of growth that improves the quality of life for everyone. UNDP in Asia and the Pacific delivers country and regional programmes in 36 countries through 24 UNDP Country Offices and the Regional Centre to help empower lives and build resilient nations.
