Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher, LG, OM, PC, FRS, née Roberts (born 13 October 1925) is a British politician and the longest-serving (1979–1990) British prime minister of the 20th century, and the only woman ever to have held the post. A Soviet journalist nicknamed her the "Iron Lady", which later became associated with her uncompromising politics and leadership style. As prime minister, she implemented conservative policies that have come to be known as Thatcherism.
Originally a research chemist before becoming a barrister, Thatcher was elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Finchley in 1959. Edward Heath appointed her Secretary of State for Education and Science in his 1970 government. In 1975 Thatcher defeated Heath in the Conservative Party leadership election and became Leader of the Opposition, as well as the first woman to lead a major political party in the United Kingdom. She became prime minister after winning the 1979 general election.
After entering 10 Downing Street, Thatcher introduced a series of political and economic initiatives to reverse what she perceived as Britain's precipitous national decline. Her political philosophy and economic policies emphasised deregulation (particularly of the financial sector), flexible labour markets, the privatisation of state-owned companies, and reducing the power and influence of trade unions. Thatcher's popularity during her first years in office waned amid recession and high unemployment, until economic recovery and the 1982 Falklands War brought a resurgence of support, resulting in her re-election in 1983. Thatcher was re-elected for a third term in 1987, but her Community Charge (popularly referred to as "poll tax") was widely unpopular and her views on the European Community were not shared by others in her Cabinet. She resigned as Prime Minister and party leader in November 1990, after Michael Heseltine launched a challenge to her leadership.
Homophobia lyrics
Up behind the Bus-stop in the toilets off the streets
There are traces of a killing on the floor beneath your feet
Mixed up with the piss and beer are bloodstains on the floor
From the boy who got his head kicked in a night or two before
Homophobia
The worst disease
you can´t love who you want to love in times like these
Homophobia
The worst disease
you can´t love who you want to love in times like these
In the pubs, clubs and burgerbars breeding pens for pigs
Alcohol, testosterone and ignorance and fists
Packs of hunting animals roam across the town
They find an easy victim and they punch him to the ground
Homophobia
The worst disease
you can´t love who you want to love in times like these
Homophobia
The worst disease
you can´t love who you want to love in times like these
The siren of the ambulance, the deadpan of the cops
Chalk to mark the outline where the boy first droppes
Beware the holy trinity - church and state and law
For every death the virus gets more deadly then before
Homophobia
The worst disease
you can´t love who you want to love in times like these
Are you happy here in Theme park USA?
And do you sometimes wish that your life was plug and play?
And are the words to this song concise enough to follow?
Is your smart food simple enough to swallow?
We're dumbing down, dumb de dumb dumb
Dumbing down, dumb de dumb dumb
Dumb de dumb dumb dumb, dumb de dumb dumb dumb
Dumb de dumb dumb dumb, dumb de dumb dumb dumb
Dumb de dumb dumb dumb, dumb de dumb dumb dumb
Dumb de dumb dumb dumb
Are we only eating worms from a can just because we can?
And is Disneyland all we understand?
Will our history be written out in headlines?
Diana dolls, and miracles, and land mines?
We're dumbing down, dumb de dumb dumb
Dumbing down, dumb de dumb dumb
{C'mon up here, second floor, second floor, right here, right here
I get knocked down and don't get up again, yo, wamba silly assed bitch
C'mon man, we can talk about this
Ah, c'mon, I'm a girl, and I can still kick your ass}
{If there's nothing after death than why are we living anyway?
What's the point of seventy years? absolutely pointless}
{It's me Trousers
A hundred years, a thousand years, we're marching on the road
The going isn't easy yet, we've got a heavy load, oh we've got a heavy load
The way is blind with blood and sweat, and death sings in our ears
But time is marching on our side, we will defeat the years, oh we will defeat the years
We men of bone of shrunken shank, our only treasure doth,
Women who carry at their breast heirs to the hungry earth, oh heirs to the hungry earth
Speak with one voice, we march, we rest, and march again upon the years
Sons of our sons are listening to hear the Chartist cheers
I accept, I accept, I accept
I'll be gonna
I accept, I accept, I accept, I, I accept
We're the ladies for compassionate lynching
We fight for all the things we believe
We spend all of our time on your talk shows
We put the stickers on your record sleeves
I accept, I, I accept
In the event of something happening to me
There is something I would like you all to see
It's just a photograph of someone that I knew
Have you seen my wife, Mr. Jones?
Do you know what it's like on the outside?
Don't go talkin' too loud, you'll cause a landslide, Mr. Jones
I keep straining my ears to hear a sound
Maybe someone is digging underground
Or have they given up and all gone home to bed
Thinkin' those that once existed must be dead?
Have you seen my wife, Mr. Jones?
Do you know what it's like on the outside?
Don't go talkin' too loud, you'll cause a landslide, Mr. Jones
In the event of something happenin' to me
There is something I would like you all to see
It's just a photograph of someone that I knew
Have you seen my wife, Mr. Jones?
Do you know what it's like on the outside?
All gathered 'round the 18th tee
With pringle and tartan and shooting sticks
Binoculars, poised, ready to use
Watching, waiting, there it goes!
Great shot!
Great shot!
What a shot!
Great shot!
The aspiring middle classes
They want to shake the golfer's hand
Great shot!
Great shot!
What a shot!
Great shot!
But the golfer is busy watching
I'm the wife of the boss of the company
And I always make my husband answer to me
With what he says about the blacks, I totally agree
The main problem is, they're not civilized, you see
Look at the way that they squabble between themselves
Rioting at funerals--they'll surely go to hell
If you gave them nice houses, they'd only burn them down
You don't get that in a white man's town
And boycotting products won't do them any good
You see they need the trade to help buy food
And when I visit my niece on her beautiful homestead
The blacks who work for her seem really quite content
So I'll agree with my husband--let things stay as they are
One two three four
One two
Three four
Let's go!
This coat my royal gown
A stolen hand-me-down
No need to scrape and bow
We can be heroes now
For more than just one day
And here's how
Look both ways when crossing roads
Don't wear slippers 'til you're old
Never do what you are told
There's a hole in your knickers, dear Calvin, dear Calvin
There's a hole in your knickers, dear Calvin, a hole
{Now let's see what happens with ba ba black sheep
Ba ba black sheep, have you any wool?}
Call me on my cellular
And I'll give you a free ride to this underground stadium
They'll pick up the fair and they'll even tip you
Don't even worry about it, man
You'll love this joint
We'll stop off, we'll buy some booze, and, uh
You'll bring it in and it's just incredible
The girls will be all over you
I am the Lord of the very last dance
I've got Tommy on the leg of my pants
I've got the audience in the palm of my hands
My good friend Sinatra on my right
Andrew Lloyd Webber is doing the lights
It's twice a night for twenty five nights

And my feet never touch the ground
Are there any Branch Davidians in the house?
Here's Jim Jones as a pantomime horse
That showbiz gets right up your nose
One more little line, then everyone back to mine

Hail Mary full of grace
The Lord is with Thee
Blessed art Thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of our death
Amen
Hail Mary full of grace
The Lord is with Thee
Blessed art Thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of our death
Amen
Hail Mary full of grace
The Lord is with Thee
Blessed art Thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of our death
Amen
No virgin me for I have sinned
I sold my soul for sex and gin
Go call the Priest all meek and mild
And tell them Mary is no more a child
It's raining stones, it's raining bile
From the luxury of your denial
So I don't deny, I won't make due
I'll press alarms, place bets on truth
I'm so up and down
And I love what's not allowed
I was lost, now I see
And now I'm growing old disgracefully
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to
Hail Mary full of grace
The Lord is with Thee
Blessed art Thou amongst women
And blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners now
And at the hour of our death
Amen
I'll spit on floors and do more drugs
Burn every bill, get drunk on love
Wear next to nothing in the pouring rain
Be a bad example and do it all again
I'll be uncareful and cause such scenes
And I'll never talk of used-to-be's
Tattoo my face, I won't go gray
Be a dancing queen, I'm growing old disgracefully
I'm so up and down
And I love what's not allowed
I was lost, now I see
And now I'm growing old disgracefully
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to Mary?
Whatever happened to
Mary, Mary, Mary, quite contrary
Mary, Mary, Mary, quite contrary
Mary, Mary, Mary, quite contrary
Is she really going out with him?
Not anymore!
Georgina's cooking supper for her husband, all her firends are coming round to
see the show
Cos the theif she calls her husband wont be hungry, when he see's whats on the
end of his fork
(Chorus)
Georgina isnt asking anymore and
Her lover isnt asking anymore and
The cook isnt asking anymore since
The theif met a bullet on the way to the floor
Georgina's got a timebomb in her stomache, she knows that any minete now she's
gonna blow
With all the pain and the scilence that she feeds on, with all the hurt that
the brusies cant show
(Chorus)
Georgina isnt asking anymore and
Her lover isnt asking anymore and
The cook isnt asking anymore since
The theif met a bullet on the way to the floor
Georgina's got an appitite for vengance, and she sings all the songs from Oliver
She wont be wanting seconds anymore as she tightens up he grip of the trigger
finger
(Chorus)
Georgina isnt asking anymore and
Her lover isnt asking anymore and
The cook isnt asking anymore since
The thief met a bullet on the way to the floor
By building up the means for war, we thus preserve the peace
Such bullshit will prepare us for invasion from the east
And meanwhile, they're carving up the land
The anglo-american military have taken full command
It's keeping us fed we're consuming it all
Fat on its culture and military control
Preparing for war bit by bit
Whilst we're watching its telly and eating its shit
They've got it all worked out and we give our consent
They've got it all worked out and we give our consent
They've got it all worked out and we give our consent
They've got it all worked out for Central America
They've got it all worked out for Ireland
By sitting back and keeping silent we give them our consent
Born in the shadow of the USA
Taught the fundamental bullshit every day
Force fed on a diet of Great British lies
Media distortions censor our minds
Passive spectators of royalty
Too diverted to care if we're free
ICI, BP, Thorn EMI
Red, white, and blue logos, British pride
With a Big Mac in one hand and a Coke at our sides
We've accepted their culture and swallowed their lies
They've put up more fences, watched us and spied
And cleverly told us they've got nothing to hide
For too long we've watched them preparing for battle
But the fightback is started little by little
Kicking at the midst of passive defense
Refusing cruise means tearing down fences
At Greenham and Molesworth, fences you can see
But then there's all the barriers that are built around me
Political, economic, cultural, social
And people who live in glass houses
Shouldn't encourage others to throw stones
Let the glossy shop fronts know what to expect
William Francis, noble lord
His fortune built on sweat and sword
Built an empire tall as a hill
But he don't have fun and he never will
My, my
Sees the world so far below
And though he tries, he'll never know
Friends to greet the breaking of day
And love to pass the night away
My, my
William Francis high and dry
With his paradise denied
My, my
William Francis, lost, alone
A thousand ifs and a heart of stone
He measures his life in (gain) and cost
But he'll never add up the world he lost
My, my
William Francis works us hard
But we'll dance all the way to the knacker's yard
He cannot laugh and he cannot cry
'Cos William Francis is cold inside
My, my
William Francis high and dry
With his paradise denied
Anybody can press a button and blow up a ship
Anybody can use an atom bomb
Anybody can pick up a big whip, and whip you
Anybody can stick a knife into you
Anybody can pull a trigger
But where's the man with the character
As can take a punch on the nose and keep his temper
Keep control of himself?
[Incomprehensible]
The seed you sow, another reaps
The wealth you find, another keeps
The clothes you weave, another wears
The arms you forge, another bears
[Incomprehensible]
The songs you write, another sings
The heart you lose, another wins
The food you bake, another eats
Poison-laced and oh, so sweet
[Incomprehensible]
Rock and roll, check your pulse
Art or death, true or false
Can't stay young, can't grow old
The world is waking outside my window
Bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao
Drags my senses into the sunlight
For there are things that I must do
Wish me luck now, I have to leave you
Bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao
With my friends now up to the city
We're going to shake the Gates of Hell
And I will tell them - we will tell them
Bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao
That our sunlight is not for franchise
And wish the bastards drop down dead
Next time you see me I may be smiling
Bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao
I'll be in prison or on the TV
I'll say, "the sunlight dragged me here!"
Stamattina mi sono alzato
Stop now
What's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop now
What's that sound
Stop now
What's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop now
What's that sound
I am a timebomb
A ticking ticking ticking timebomb
I am a timebomb
A ticking ticking ticking timebomb
Unattended on the railway station
In the litter at the dancehall
Sitting pretty near the fastfood-counter
In the backseat of a Vauxhall
I am a timebomb
A ticking ticking ticking timebomb
I am a timebomb
A ticking ticking ticking timebomb
Stop now
What's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop now
What's that sound
I am a timebomb
A ticking ticking ticking timebomb
I am a timebomb
A ticking ticking ticking timebomb
Hear the ticking of your heartbeat beating
Hear the breaking of their promises
Hear the smashing of your expectations
Hear the shattering of half-rhymes
I am a timebomb
A ticking ticking ticking timebomb
I am a timebomb
A ticking ticking ticking timebomb
Stop now
What's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop now
What's that sound
You know
Time tells you
Ah-ah-ah-ah
And all the timebombs
They're all dancing to the same song
In a world full of no ones
I am a someone
Timebomb
Timebomb
Timebomb
Timebomb
Stop now
What's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop now
What's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop now
What's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What's that sound
Unholy Sunday a winter's day
Mine is the kingdom
Church bells ring a million miles away
Forever and ever
Nowhere to go, nothing to do
But stay here warm in bed with you(Chorus)The morning after the night before
Sunday after Saturday, the morning after
Sunday after Saturday, the morning after
Sunday after the night before
Ice on the windows, let's melt it away
It's a hell of a winter
So much time to waste, so much to say
Peppered with laughter
Nowhere to go, nothing to do
But move just a little bit closer to you
The morning after the night before(Repeat chorus)Plasticine people we could be
Do what you want to
Squeezing together for now or forever
Forever or never
Nowhere to go, nothing to do
They call it hopscotch!
Now this is where it all begins
A piece of chalk and a boot-polish tin
Hit the streets, no time to wait
Draw them squares out, 1 to 8
Hopscotch!
Throw that tin and hop along
And now you're ready to sing the song
I said a-hopscotch a-hoppety-hop
Keep on hopping, no time to stop
It's called hopscotch!
(We'll be singing, when we're winning, we'll be singing)
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
(Pissing the night away, pissing the night away)
He drinks a Whiskey drink, he drinks a Vodka drink
He drinks a Lager drink, he drinks a Cider drink
He sings the songs that remind him of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him of the best times
(Oh Danny Boy, Danny Boy, Danny Boy)
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
(Pissing the night away, pissing the night away)
He drinks a Whiskey drink, he drinks a Vodka drink
He drinks a Lager drink, he drinks a Cider drink
He sings the songs that remind him of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him of the best times
(Don't cry for me, next door neighbour)
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
I get knocked, down but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing) but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down (when we're winning)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing) but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down (ooh)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing) but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down (when we're winning)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing) but I get up again
You're never gonna keep me down (ooh)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
You're never gonna keep me down (when we're winning)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
You're never gonna keep me down (ooh)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
You're never gonna keep me down (when we're winning)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
You're never gonna keep me down (ooh)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
You're never gonna keep me down (when we're winning)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
You're never gonna keep me down (ooh)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
You're never gonna keep me down (when we're winning)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
You're never gonna keep me down (ooh)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
You're never gonna keep me down (when we're winning)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
You're never gonna keep me down (ooh)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
You're never gonna keep me down (when we're winning)
I get knocked down, (we'll be singing)
But I get up again (pissing the night away)
Whitewash
When you don't want to feed the world
When you just want to feed your bank balance
Wash your guilt away
Unilever washes whiter
Soap to clean those dirty hands
And a slap for the people who work the land
Unilever
Man-made hunger
Soap in our eyes
John West is the best
Old soap opera
No soap-reality
Legal slave trade
Domestos kills all known truths dead
Soap to wash the darkest stain
Profit covers up the pain
Of a slow, deliberate genocide
And all the dirt you want to hide
Take the black and wash it whiter
Brooke-Bond Oxo
Blue Band, Bird's Eye
Lifebuoy, Sunsilk
Persil washes whiter
We make whitewash
We sell whitewash
Consume whitewash
Consumed by whitewash

Somewhere in this cycle there's me and you
What are we prepared to do?
It's such an easy step
From lets forget to lest we forget
We haven't learned this yet
From Cold Harbor lane to Oklahoma and back again
The problems stay the same
It's such an easy step
From lets forget to lest we forget
We haven't learned this yet
We haven't learned this yet
Anytime, anyplace, anywhere
There's a wonderful world you can share
But only if you're stinking rich enough
Martini people are happy people
They always smile because they're getting paid
To sing and dance and have parties in the South of France
Wouldn't you do the same, if you got the chance?
Uncork the speedboat from the bottle and be whisked away
From reality today, to packaged dreamland UK
From the TV screen to the Sunday magazine
Fancy cigarette packets, dead animal jackets
From the big flashy car which runs on British Petroleum
From BP's investments in Australia in Uranium
Dinner is served!
This is the last one
Organize, occupy, kick the bastards out
Don't wear the gold lamé
In keeping with the fashion for charity, not change
Here's out contribution--we've called it Slag Aid
For every pop star that we slag off today
Twenty-five million pounds will be given away
Paul McCartney - come on down
With crocodile tears to irrigate this ground
Make of Somalia a fertile paradise
Where everyone sings Beatles songs, buys shares in EMI
A and M
Axl Rose, this is your life
Thank the Lord that you were born white
And thank MTV for this wonderful opportunity
To peddle your hypocrisy
David Bowie, the price is right
With a suitful of compassion and a gobful of shite
Still the voices of those who doubt
Coca-Cola for the peasants
And Michael Jackson, game for a laugh
Dancing us down the garden path
To Beverly Hills nine oh one oh, you know, you know
Fill the world with silver media
Ladies and Gentlemen, our special guest tonight
He's come all the way, put your hands together for Mr. John Lydon
AKA Johnny Rotten
He's got a new book out, no McLaren, no Matlock, no Dignity
Well we got a surprise for him tonight
'Cause we're gonna do the business, and we take no prisoners
'Cause we got the hammer and we got the nails
We got the hammer and we got the nails
We got the hammer and we got the nails
And the two pieces of wood
Put 'em together, folks, and what have we got?
Tonight, live in Leeds, in city square, we've got the two pieces of wood sitting up
You see him hanging there, he's upside down, nice little twist
Because we're gonna nail Mr. Lighton right up to that cross and leave him hanging there
Till the vultures come down and pick his eyes off his can, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Ha ha ha ha!
Ha ha ha ha!
Ladies and gentlemen, you've been so good
Thank you, on next week's show, the man upstairs
And have we got a bone to pick with him!
Adieu
Thank you very much
Thanks a lot
Cheers

Is it worth it?
A new winter coat and shoes for the wife
And a bicycle on the boy's birthday
It's just a rumour that was spread around town
By the women and children; soon we'll be shipbuilding
Well, I ask you--the boy said,
'Dad they're going to take me to task
'But I'll be back by Christmas'
It's just a rumour that's spread around town
Someone said that someone got filled in
For saying that people get killed
In the result of this shipbuilding
With all the will in the world
Diving for dear life
When we could be diving for pearls
It's just a rumour that was spread around town
A telegram or picture postcard
Within weeks they'll be re-opening the ship yard
And notifying the next of kin once again
It's all we're skilled in, we will be shipbuilding
With all the will in the world
Diving for dear life
When we could be diving for pearls
Much of the general population recognizes that the organized institutions do not reflect their concerns or interests or needs
They do not feel that they participate meaningfully in the political system
They do not feel that they lead (?) either to the truth or reflect their concerns
They go outside of the organized institutions to act
The question in brief, is whether democracy and freedom are values to be preserved or threats to be avoided
In this possibly terminal phase of human existence democracy and freedom are more than values to be treasured, they may well be essential to survival
Much of the general population recognizes that the organized institutions do not reflect their concerns or interests or needs
They do not feel that they participate meaningfully in the political system
They do not feel that they lead (?) either to the truth or reflect their concerns
They go outside of the organized institutions to act
Justice, injustice
Justice, injustice
Drip feed democracy, and collective amnesia
A cocktail of beatings, imprisonment, and poverty
Bitter medicine, no longer disguised with a spoonful of sugar
The state, its Tory psycopaths and labour apologists are coming clean
The bullies and the cowards are ganging up on us
(There ain't no justice, just us)
The carrots been ditched, the stick works best
Disagree and discover that there's always someone on hand to beat some sense into you
This is justice
Some would say that justice stings without regard to right or wrong
Some like the Guilford four and the Birmingham six spent years locked up discovering a justice which was racist, blind, and unable to admit its mistakes
(Open your eyes)
Some, like thousands of homeless people begging outside Britains tran stations and sleeping rough on the street find their justice in a society which criminalizes its poor
Some, like Joy Gardner, died from justice administered by cops, trying to deport her using the force of law and the force of violence
Some, who grow up loving people of their own sex, find that what they thought was natural is punishable in the courst
A bigoted conservatinve hateful justice
Some, like the police, are servants of bullies and cowards who pay their salaries find that justice never falls on the shoulders of those wearing the uniform
Justice, injustice
Justice, injustice
Justice is getting greedy, inventing new crimes to punish
(There ain't no justice, just us)
And now justice openly wants to break up the party, wants to smash the homes of squatters, smash the bones of strikers
Justice is issuing the cops with bigger batons, tougher laws
Taking away your right to silence, and replacing it with a need to scream
Justice is no longer pretending to be just
Justice, injustice
Justice, criminal injustice
There is no justice, just us
Our own correspondent is sorry to tell of an uneasy time, that all is not well. On the borders there's movement. In the hills there's trouble, food is short, crime is double. Prices have risen since the government fell, casualties increase as the enemy shell. The climate's unhealthy, flies and rats thrive, and sooner or later the end will arrive. This is your war correspondent running out of tape, gunfire increasing, looting, burning, rape.

All truth is opinion, believe me
Discussion has become a privilege

We are all just a target audience

Three days, three days of paradise
So much to buy, so much to buy

Four days, four days of paradise
Four days, four days of paradise
Life is a metaphor for television
Ideas are now soundbites and they never bite back
Everything is OK at Lies-R-Us
Off-the-pog crowd control

Five days, five days of paradise
Five days, five days of paradise
The community is now anti-social
Do it yourself is against the law
Poverty is a fashion statement
The alternative has become the mainstream

Driving on the bypass to Damascus
I saw a preacher trying to hitch a ride
With a pair of broken wings
And a suitcase full of sins
He gathered up his dreams and jumped inside
Pulling Malatesta from his suitcase
He lifted up his voice and began to sing
'My songs of desperation lead to action...
And this is where the serious fun begins.'
We don't go to God's house anymore
Saw the light and walked right out the door
We don't go to God's house
It's more fun in the dog house
We don't go to God's house anymore
Well driving on, I tasted sweet salvation
As we sung away the pulpit and the past
The preacherman and me
We sang such harmonies
The highway of my life went by so fast
The preacher, he got off at the crossroads
He said, 'This is where I end, and you begin'
He left behind the wings and the Malatesta
And the memory of the songs we both did sing
We don't go to God's house anymore
Saw the light and walked right out the door
We don't go to God's house
It's more fun in the doghouse
We don't go to God's house anymore
Children in school forced to the desk
Finger the atlas and study the text
Lies and opinion presented as fact
Taught to accept, and never to ask
Those smiling workers in Ladybird books
They're not picking coffee at all
They're busy with bricks and mortar
Building the company wall
Flickering pictures hypnotize
We spend our lives watching others' lives
Too much watching to realize
That this is a smokescreen
And this is why people die
Those smiling news presenters
They're not reading cue-cards at all
They're busy with brush and bucket
Whitewashing the company wall
Set yourself up and play it again
Force the tears and entertain
Sing about a world of make-believe
Force this charity and leave
Rich people who claim to know
What's wrong with this world
Can't know anything at all
They're busy giving the orders
For us to build their second homes
Flickering pictures hypnotize
Flickering pictures hypnotize
And we who take the orders
And refuse to question it all
We're busy with spade and Bible
Burying the poor
Burying the poor
Mass-manufactured and given away
Blinkers to get you through your day
So you'll never ever know to what extent you're involved
Easily fooled, all your problems solved
You'll say starvation has nothing to do with you
You saw it in print, so it must be true
And the documentary explained it all
It's a simple matter of birth control
And if you send a little money you can sleep tonight
Or starve in sympathy on a Limmits Diet
And you know that charity cures malnutrition
And hunger put the sparkle back in television
Hunger put the sparkle back in television
Hunger put the sparkle back in television
What's the ugliest part of your body?
What's the ugliest part of your body?
Some say your nose, some say your toes
But I think it's your mind, your mind, your mind
Test the water feel the ground
Send the tax collectors round
Fill the coffers pound by pound
A surer way to keep in line
The rabble who spend half their time
Wishing they could have what's mine
Stamping on the people's hands
This is where I'll make my stand
This is how I'll rule this land
I'll push and push a little more
I'll push and goad and tease the poor
A good excuse to fight my war
The war between have-nots and haves
My little game of smash and grab
Turn the screw increase the tax
Friend or foe, who goes there?
Turns his coat and takes the rear
Mummy, mummy, mummy
I got a pain I got a pain in my tummy and it's hurting me
I'm well and truly shatted by it all stained and scarred
And brutalized just by day to day living
But the comic tragic magic is I'm not dead yet
I'm not full submerged, I still got some life in me yet
For my mummy, mummy, mummy earth, I'm gonna stand by her
Course the world was in a mess when I stuck my head out
It's still in a mess, but I can see for myself now
Soz I've got to dash, I've got to get my shit together
Keep things moving and make myself useful
For my mummy, mummy, mummy, my mummy, mummy
Out of the offices, faces grey
All of the zombies look the other way
Scared of meeting face to face
Scared to let strangers into their space
Out of the offices, faces grey
All of the zombies look the other way
Scared of meeting face to face
Scared to let strangers into their space
Can't think, must work
(repeats)
Too scared to accept that the life they lead
Is based on pain and death and greed
Can't think, must work
(repeats)
Too busy working to question, doubt
Most of us who have watched the scenes on television have only the highest praise for the police. They indeed have kept the right of miners to go to work open, and they've done it marvelously. The police have been wonderful. The police have been wonderful. The police have been wonderful. The police have been wonderful. Our institutions of justice, the courts, and the police, require the unswerving support of every law-abiding citizen. I think it totally and utterly false... totally and utterly false... totally and utterly false... to cast a slur on the police and the superb way in which they have handled this dispute. The police have been wonderful. The police have been wonderful. The police have been wonderful. The police have been wonderful. If there are individual complaints about policemen, there's a well-established machinery to pursue them, and that is why British justice is renowned across the world. It seems that there are some who are out to destroy any properly elected government--they are out to br
Twelve stitches in sixteen rows
Two inches overpacking on number ten needles
Cast one hundred twenty one stitches
And knit one, purl one, repeat to the end
Knit one, purl one, knit one, purl one
Knit one, purl one, knit one, purl one
Repeat as knitted for seven and a half centimeters
Finishing on the second row
Change to number eight needles
Then knit one, purl one, repeat to the end
Knit one, purl one, knit one, purl one
Knit one, purl one, knit one, purl one
Cast off twelve
Purl to the last twelve stitches
Break on acrylic, turn and rejoin
Then knit two, purl two, to the last two stitches
Knit two, purl two, knit two, purl two
Knit two, purl two, knit two, purl two
Continue 'til work measures twenty-five centimeters
Finishing on the wrong side row
Cast off twenty-eight, cross on thirty-three
Break and then rejoin, cast off and sew
Knit one, purl one, knit one, purl one
Smiles for the cameras as the miners return
They say no one has lost and no one has gained
But wiser and stronger the people have changed
And it won't be the same in the village again
Twelve months of bribery, twelve months of lies
Cops in the village to truncheon your bride
Scabs down the back roads to break up the strike
Come out of your houses--there's a war on outside
Attacked in the village, attacked in the courts
Sacked for refusing to bow to their lords
Less than a whisper from Commons and Lords
Retreats from the front when they most need support
Woman and woman in opposing extremes
Between man-made heaven and popular dreams
Between twisted detachment and learning to breathe
One locks the prison one sets herself free
Smiles for the cameras as the miners return
They say no one has lost and no one has gained
But wiser and stronger the people have changed
And it won't be the same in Fitzwilliam again
Cage and canary are left in the mine
Canary still sings as machinery dies
Song breaks the bars which imprison its life
Shake it, shake it
Shake it, shake it
Shake, baby, shake the memories away
(Shake it, shake it)
Shake this grown-up Barbie doll of a day
(Shake it, shake it)
She gets Hugh Hefner, but she forgets the year
She just shakes her yeah, yeah, yeah
Shake it, shake it
Shake it, shake it
Shake the dirt from your hands now, Lisa Marie
(Shake it, shake it)
Shaking up the family with Pamela Lee
(Shake it, shake it)
Shake this fear of getting nothing done
If you can bake a cake, you can make a bomb
"Somebody forgot about something, for sure.
Something so obvious that they missed it.
It's inevitable."
The summer was over the season unkind
In harvest a snow, how uncommon to find
The times were oppressive and well it be known
That hunger will stronger [?] fences break down
'Twas then from theirselves the black gentry stepped out
With bludgeons determined to stir up a rout
The prince of the party who revelled from home
Was a terrible fellow and called Irish Thom
He brandished his bludgeon with dexterous skill
And close to his elbow was placed Bonny (?) Will
Their instantly followed a numerous train
As cheerful as bold Robin Hood's merry men
Sworn to remedy a capital fault
And bring down the exorbitant price of the malt
From Dudley to Walso (?) they trippet (?) along
And Hampton was truly alarmed at the throng
Women and children wherever they go
Shouting out 'Oh the brave Dudley boys! Oh!'
With nailers and spinners the cavalcade joined
The markets to lower their flattering design
Six days out of seven poor nailing boys get
Little else at their meals but potatos to eat
For bread hard they labor, good things never carve
And swore 'twere as well to be hanged as to starve
Such other feelings in every land
Nothing necessities coal can withstand
And riots are certain to sadden the year
Big tall courthouse, a clock upon the wall
A hammer on the table and a copper on the door
A judge in front and a jury at the side
A judge in front and a jury at the side
A judge in front and a jury at the side
And a Bible on the stand to say I won't tell lies
Well it's one o'clock, two o'clock, any old o'clock
Between the rock and roll devil and the fear of god
Big brotherly love runs shallow as skin
In the deep south of America
Can the lady take the stand now? Blah, blah, blah
And how comes a black woman drives her own car?
And what gives you the constitutional right
And what gives you the constitutional right
And what gives you the constitutional right
To drive a car through a junction on a red stop light?
Well it's one o'clock, two o'clock, any old o'clock
Between the rock and roll devil and the fear of god
Big brotherly love runs shallow as skin
In the deep south of Yorkshire
Well of course I drove the car through a red stop light
But well, I thought that law was just for whites
I saw the white folks drive through on green
I say, I saw the white folks drive through on green
I say, I saw the white folks drive through on green
So when the red light flashed, I thought this must be for me
Well it's one o'clock, two o'clock, any old o'clock
Just a fear of the people with a fear of god

Fairless, Bailey, Pharaoh, Hepperties,
Rally, Ruffle, Challen, So...

This is the Good Ship Lifestyle
All my friends jumped ship
I elect me the captain
This is the lonliest voyage
I've ever been on
Up in the crow's nest -
Over there! I see land!
First mate? There is no First Mate...
This is the Good Ship Lifestyle
Sail away from the world
Sail away from the world
So steer a course
A course for nowhere
And drop the anchor
My little empire
I'm going nowhere (This is the Good Ship Lifestyle)
I'm going nowhere (This is the Good Ship Lifestyle)
I'm going nowhere (This is the Good Ship Lifestyle)
I'm going nowhere (This is the Good Ship Lifestyle)
This is the Good Ship Lifestyle
I fly my very own flag
TV dinners for one
At the captain's table
Repel all the boarders!
Draw the curtains tighter!
Where's the crew? There is no crew...
This is the Good Ship Lifestyle
Sail away from the world
Sail away from the world
So steer a course
A course for nowhere
And drop the anchor
My little empire
I'm going nowhere (This is the Good Ship Lifestyle)
I'm going nowhere (This is the Good Ship Lifestyle)
I'm going nowhere (This is the Good Ship Lifestyle)
I'm going nowhere (This is the Good Ship Lifestyle)
So steer a course
A course for nowhere
And drop the anchor
My little empire
I'm going nowhere (This is the Good Ship Lifestyle)
I'm going nowhere (This is the Good Ship Lifestyle)
I'm going nowhere (This is the Good Ship Lifestyle)
With her friends on a road less travelled, on a journey of do's and dares
Looking back on a fear of leaving and forgetting how it felt to be scared
There are those paying fancy prices to pretend they have fancy lives
But at every charity banquet the majority stay outside
(Chorus)
We play to a packed gallery
We smile for the CCTV
We're making our own history
When fine society sits down to dine, remember that someone is pissing in the wine
Pissing in the wine, pissing in the wine
Remember that someone is pissing in the wine
She'd love to be dancing the tango and she traces the steps in her mind
You can tell by the snap of her fingers that she moves to a different time
Where all the quiet submission is smeared in lipstick red
And every act is a crime of passion
"That's not all she wrote," she said
(Repeats)
(Repeat chorus)
(Chorus)
Wondering
Have I given up dreaming?
Come down from the ceiling
I won't do that again
Thinking
My misspent history
Mistakes to teach me
I won't do that again
Dreams I kept as a child
Kept me quiet and hypnotized
Cooked away my valentines
Served myself up every night
Couldn't see me for the trees
And all that hallmark poetry
I'm not the girl I used to be
I'm not the girl I used to be
(Repeat chorus)
Trying to break the family ties
Chocolate hearts and tacky lies
Heard a thousand crappy lines
And I believed them every time
So I beg to disagree
Love's not taking all of me
I'm not the girl I used to be
I'm not the girl I used to be
(Repeat chorus)
I'm not the girl I used to be
(Repeat)
Whilst robson plays his sharp cd
And beardsley paints his lounge "hint of green"
And the big clubs dream of a superleague
Of keegan's "reasonable" three thousand a week
But back at sinthonia, the ground's hardly packed
And the bank won't give them an overdraft
So it's play a full team of y.t.s.
Or get sponsored by the d.h.s.s.
Oh no!
Oh yes!
It is a real pleasure to be here with you this afternoon. I always count it a priviledge whenever I have the opportunity to stand before a group of students in an assembly such as this. You know, most of you are at the point in life when you're making the decisions that are going to determine your philosophy and your attitude toward life. It was in the early teenage years that unfortunately I made some wrong decisions. I made the decision to turn my back on everything that my church and my parents had tried to teach me. My idea was, I'm going to live life like I want to live it and I don't care what anybody else thinks or anybody else says. But it wasn't until I was nineteen that one evening in a small church I came to the conclusion that if I was really going to get what I wanted out of life I'd have to change that kind of an attitude. Today I am not here to prove any one or any thing right or wrong, but I want to talk to you about some ideas and attitudes that have been communicated through the means of music. And I hope that together we can stop and think about some serious issues that face you as the youth of America. It's possible I could walk out on this stage today and deliver a speech mocking the flag or ridiculing some of the leaders of our government and I suppose there are some of you who might not say a word. Perhaps I could stand here and curse God or use profanity without upsetting some of you, or maybe I could take my draft card out of my pocket, stand here and defiantly tear it up in pieces, and I suppose there'd be some of you who wouldn't say a thing. But there's one thing of which I am reasonably certain--if I were to walk out here today and just dare to say one word against The Beatles, Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly, Led Zeppelin, The Raiders, or The doors, some of you would want to come up here and tear me limb from limb. The question I'd like to ask is this--I wonder would that really be right, or perhaps would it illustrate that this thing called Rock and Roll is more than just a form of music?
The good folks pull together
It's July 4th forever
Down in Celebration, Florida
The neighbors bring you coffee
And everyone's always happy
Down in Celebration, Florida
There's a bake sell at the schoolhouse
And they're selling innocence
They're keeping out the deviants
To protect the residents
Of Celebration, Celebration, Florida
They're buying up nostalgia
For a time they can't remember
Down in Celebration, Florida
They're sharing homemade corn chips
Even the dogs get facelifts
Down in Celebration, Florida
There's a bake sell at the schoolhouse
And they're selling innocence
They're keeping out the deviants
To protect the residents
Of Celebration, Celebration, Florida
There's nation fighting nation
There's kids with malnutrition
But not in Celebration, Florida
Social engineering
It gives you that fuzzy feeling
Down in Celebration, Florida
There's a bake sell at the schoolhouse
And they're selling innocence
They're keeping out the deviants
To protect the residents
Of Celebration, Celebration, Florida
Celebration, Celebration, Celebration, Florida
Well, it's
It's very conventional, I don't know, and it's, it's, kind of just
relies on some kind of simplistic folk ideology.
That's true, actually I'd agree with that
Whisper the words of wisdom no more
Speak the words of wisdom no more
Shout the words of wisdom no more
The governments of the world agree
That people need bombs and banks and barriers
Harriers, tanks, and aircraft carriers to carry us to war
To drop it at my front door
But if no one pulled a trigger then no one would get shot
If no one made the bombs, no one would get blown up
If nobody believed in stinking countries
There wouldn't be any territories to fight over
If nobody held money as sacred
There'd be food for all, not just those who can't afford it
And if nobody voted for a government
They wouldn't have the right to make people fight
But first they treat us like we're nobody, no one
Then it's "Join Britain's fight, be someone--bomb someone"
But dead we're no more than dust on the floor
Of the next generation
Who are marching as to war
But no more war, we won't go away
'Cause no more war is something we've got to say
No more war, we can try to make the fighting cease
No more war, advertise for peace
No more war, I know it's easier said than done
But we can make a start by declaring peace
No more war, look I know it's easier said than done
But we can make a start by declaring peace
By declaring peace
Just remember in 1982 when the Falklands war was happening
The New Musical Express didn't say a word about it
Georgina's cooking supper for her husband
All her friends are coming round to see the show
Because the thief she calls her husband wont't be hungry
When he see's what's on the end of his fork
Georgina isn't asking anymore
And her lover isn't isn't asking anymore
And the cook isn't asking anymore
Since the thief met a bullet on the way to the floor
Georgin's got a timebomb in her stomach
She knows that any minute now it's going to blow
With all the pain and the silence that she feeds on
With all the hurt that her bruises can't show
Georgina isn't asking anymore
And her lover isn't isn't asking anymore
And the cook isn't asking anymore
Since the thief met a bullet on the way to the floor
Georgina's got an appetite for vengeance
And she sings all the songs from "Oliver"
But she won't be wanting seconds any more
As she thightens up the grip on her trigger finger
Georgina isn't asking anymore
And her lover isn't isn't asking anymore
And the cook isn't asking anymore
Since the thief met a bullet on the way to the floor
Goodbye to the summer
Sold down the river
Unhappy ever after
Well did you ever?
Did you ever reach for the glued-down penny?
Same old joke and it's not funny
Burns are red bruises blue
Out with the old cheated by the new
Do you suffer from a long term memory loss?
I don't remember (2x)
You sing the same old verse
Stick like glue for better or worse
What goes aruond comes around
Again and again
This heart pulled apart
Hydra fighting head to head
Burns are red bruises blue
Out with the old cheated by the new
Do you suffer from a long term memory loss?
I don't remember (2x)
Amnesia
Do you suffer from a long term memory loss?
I don't remember...
And this is Steve Wright, we hope that those that lost relatives in this terrible disaster may be able to have a better life as a result of this great record
This great record
This great record
(repeat)
Watchers pray in times of trouble
Restless by the harbor wall
Waiting for the stormy winds to fall
With microphone and TV camera
Money and tears and a song to sing
This is where the buy and sell begins
For media and for industry
Consumers of the world agree
Nothing sells like disaster, let it be
This manufactured sympathy, drowing in hypocrisy
Smiles to clinch the deals to boost the sales
All the owners of the printing presses
And postars crying phony tears
Nothing bleeds like the hearts of the millionaires
For the charts and the state machine
Consumers of the world agree
Nothing sells like disaster, let it be
Greed and lies and economics
A captains' crew to make the rules
And a band to play the waltz on this ship of fools
Media sales
Media sales
For profit, stars, and company
Consumers of the world agree
Nothing sells like disaster, let it be
Nothing sells like disaster, let it be
One, two, three, four
Slap
Fleet Street fell in love
But the girl proved hard to get
Took a seat at the old boy's club
But wouldn't share the bed
Cuppas for the troops
Bubbly-gum and wire
Trojan horses, Black & Tans
They're running for their lives
Royals came to call
Mister Paisley save her soul
Heavens here's the naughty girl
Wouldn't say her prayers
Bloody Monday morning
The rat who did the talking
Here's Ginger to the rescue
Take that! And that!
Take that! And that!
Loose door jam, light left on
The oldest national lottery
Enter Johnny go darkly
Come to spoil my party
Smell of feces lingers
Echo of light fingers
Cold comfort blankets
Steeped in creeping anger
Flatfoot comes poking
Compounding my misery
Grinding pestle and mortar
Adding insult to injury
If only this, if only that
If only in my guts
See my life before my eyes
Trampled underfoot
Creepy crawling
Creepy crawling
Creepy crawling
Creepy crawling
All the creeps go creepy crawling
Same thing every night
How can stealing candy from a baby
Seem alright?
What a wonderful world
Corvino, carrion crow
Skulking with his mobile
Slippery peat bog eyes
Stick on smiley smile
Small print like quicksand
Not a wooden leg to stand on
Sinking through my stomach
The ground beneath me gone
Free fall, call Ophelia
Clutching at straw
Mixed with bloody feathers
From scruff of neck of crow
Johnny go, Johnny gone
Too much drink in your tum, tum, tum
See this finger, see this thumb
See this fist and watch it come
Creepy crawling
Creepy crawling
Creepy crawling
Creepy crawling
All the creeps go creepy crawling
Same thing every night
How can stealing candy from a baby
Seem alright?
All the creeps go creepy crawling
Same thing every night
How can stealing candy from a baby
Seem alright?
Creepy crawling
Creepy crawling
Eat, sleep and crap, for to prey on your needs
Down a dark street, in backwater Leeds
I seen yer comin', come in lads
You seen the ads? Too bad, bad, bad
What you get is what you see
It's a trickledown theory and it's coming to me
Life's a whip-round and I've got the whip
It's a sinking ship, drip, drip, drip
Drip, drip, drip goes the water
Drip, drip, drip goes the water
Drip, drip, drip goes the water
Drip, drip, drip goes the water
Take me in
Throw me out
Put me up
Let me down
Dark satanic, run of the mill
Sing us a song and I'll send you the bill
My nicotine grip, my smokin' gun
It's how I get my fun, better run, run, run
Your olfactory nerves, all up the spout
You can't smell a rat when your nose is out
Rent to kill by any other name
Kiss an old flame, shame, shame, shame
Drip, drip, drip goes the water
Drip, drip, drip goes the water
Drip, drip, drip goes the water
Drip, drip, drip goes the water
Take me in
Throw me out
Put me up
Let me down
Drip, drip, drip
Drip, drip, drip
Drip, drip, drip
Drip, drip, drip
Drip, drip, drip, take me in
Drip, drip, drip, throw me out
Drip, drip, drip, put me up
Drip, drip, drip, let me down
Drip, drip, drip, take me in
Drip, drip, drip, throw me out
Drip, drip, drip, put me up
SPOKEN:
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the end of our death. Amen.
No virgin me for I have sinned. I sold my soul for sex and gin. Go call a priest, all meek and mild, and tell him, quot;Mary, no more a child quot;.
It's raining stones, it raining bile from the luxury of your denial. So I don't deny, I don't make do. I'll press alarms, place bets on truth.
BRIDGE:
I'm so up-and-down and I love what's not allowed. I was lost, now I see and now I'm growing old disgracefully.
CHORUS:
What ever happened to Mary What ever happened to Mary What ever happened to Mary What ever happened to...
SPOKEN:
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the end...
I'll spit on floors and do my drugs. Spend every bill, get drunk on love. Wear next to nothing in the pouring rain, be bad example, and do it all again.
I'll be uncarefull, I'll cause such scenes and I'll never talk of used-to-be's. Tattoo my face, I won't go gray, be a dancing queen and grow old disgracefully.
BRIDGE:
I'm so up-and-down and I love what's not allowed. I was lost, now I see and now I'm growing old disgracefully.
CHORUS:
What ever happened to Mary What ever happened to Mary What ever happened to Mary What every happened to Mary What ever happened to Mary What Ever happened to Mary What ever happened to...
Mary, Mary, Mary quite contrary. Mary, Mary, Mary quite contrary. Mary, Mary, Mary quite contrary. Mary, Mary, Mary quite contrary.

I'm the Boss of the company
And I've got hunger working for me
Listen and you'll begin to understand
I built my profits on stolen land
It's the economics of supply and demand
And I make the demands around here
Product sells, people die
Same manipulation wrapped in lies
Give a little money and play your rock and roll
The biggest prizes to the biggest fools
Good evening ladies and gentlemen
Welcome to the show where you the audience participate
On our show tonight we got lost of surprises in store for you at home
In keeping with the fashion for charity, not change
Here's out contribution--we've called it Slag Aid
For every pop star that we slag off today
A million pounds will be given away
Paul McCartney - come on down
With crocodile tears to irrigate this ground
Make of Ethiopia a fertile paradise
Where everyone sings Beatles songs and buys shares in EMI
Charity, starvation, and rock and roll
Let it be, eh Paulie?
Freddie Mercury, this is your life
Thank the Lord that you were born white
And thank apartheid for this wonderful opportunity
To peddle your hypocrisy in Sun City
A bit of a hot potato in a moment, eh Fred, in South Africa?
Well I'm sure there's a video in there somewhere
David Bowie, the price is right
A suitful of compassion and a gobful of shite
Still the voices of those who doubt
Coca-Cola for the peasants to end this drought
David the world can only take so much
And with you around, we're in for a really hard time
Jagger and Richards, game for a laugh
Dancing us down the garden path
To a place where money grows on trees
Where cocaine habits are financed by hunger and disease
There's only one mountain in the rock and roll business
Ladies and Gentlemen, and it's Mick Jagger
Ask the puppet-masters who pull the strings
Who makes the money when the puppets sing
Ask the corporations where does the money go
Ask the empty-bellied children what are we singing for
And Cliff Richard, three, two, one
The God who remains when the religion's gone
Cliff, we've got a special surprise for you today
So come up closer, step this way
Cliff, you're such an example of moral worth
Such a purist saint come to bless our earth
That on behalf of our viewers watching on telly
And on behalf of the millions with empty bellies
We're donating something special that we're all going to like
Cliff Richard, we're going to nail you up to a cross tonight
Ladies and gentlemen, just imagine it, someone comes along, takes everything you own, your space, your house, separates you from your family and then hits you in the face if you say anything different. Well, that's what we've been doing to the third world for the past four hundred years. That's you and me. You the viewers at home, me in the studio, the pop stars, everyone. That's how we make the third world, every day, today and every day. If you want any correspondence with the program, just send your answers, letter bombs only, to BP House, Victoria Street, London, SW1
Thank you and good night
Feed the world
Starve the rich
Goodnight
I know there must be more
I know there must be more
Than giving just a little bit more
When half of this world is so helplessly poor
Starved of the real solution
Charity and tradition
And the cycle of hungry children
Will keep on going 'round
I know there must be more
Will keep on going 'round
I know there must be more
Will keep on going 'round
I know there must be more
If I had the wings of an angel
The dirty black arse of a crow
I'd fly over bbc studios
And shit on the bastards below
Shit on, shit on, shit on the bastards below, below
I'm having a wonderful time drunk on communion wine
One sin over the seven
Sick all over the stairway to heaven
Bullshit, bullshit, priests without a pulpit
Shake shake shake your blessed bells
Ding dong, heaven calling, buzz buzz buzz, haircut sir
You put your whole self in, your whole self out
In out in out, shake it all about
With a pop song, pop song, smothering love bombs
You're great I'm great everybody's great
Everybody's great
(Repeat)
Happiness is just a chant away
(Repeat)
Georgie got a needle and Georgie got a hit
Georgie got religion and a saviour on a stick
There're a thousand Georgies all posing in a field
Which are false and which are real?
You put your whole self in, your whole self out
In out, in out, what's it all about?
Pop song, pop song, smothering love bombs
You're great i'm great everybody's great
Everybody's great
(Repeat)
Happiness is just a chant away
(Repeat)
I'm having a wonderful time drunk on communion wine
One sin over the seven
Sick all over the stairway to heaven
Harry Roberts, Harry Roberts, Roberts, Roberts, Harry, Harry
(Repeat)
Everybody got a good deal
Everybody got a guru
Everybody got a love bomb
Everybody got a hit song
Sometimes when I'm feeling lonely
I just want some arms around me
It doesn't matter how he walks
It doesn't matter how he talks
It doesn't matter if he's pretty
It doesn't matter if he's ugly
I just want to feel those arms around me and kiss
'Cause what's a kiss? A kiss is sweet
'Cause what's a kiss? A kiss is a kiss
Last night I went out and met you
I put my arms around you
You said it was 'inevitable'
I said, 'whatever'
We kissed and hugged forever
Until the night grew old
And when you went away you gave me a kiss
'Cause what's a kiss? A kiss is sweet
Albert! Bobby! For gods sake burn it down!
(Chorus)
Nothing ever burns down by itself, every fire needs a little bit of help
Nothing ever burns down by itself, every fire needs a little bit of . .
Give the anarchist a cigarette. Cos thats as close as he's ever gonna get
Give the anarchist a cigarette. Bobby just hasnt earned it yet
Give the anarchist a cigarette. The times are changing but he just forgets
Give the anarchist a cigarette. He's gonna choke on his harmonica, Albert!
(Chorus)
Nothing ever burns down by itself, every fire needs a little bit of help
Nothing ever burns down by itself, every fire needs a little bit of . .
Give the anarchist a cigarette. A candy cig for the spoilt brat
Give the anarchist a cigarette. We'll get Albert to write you a cheque
Give the anarchist a cigarette. And he'll be burning up the air in his personal jet
Give the anarchist a cigarette. You know I hate every popstar that I ever met!
(Chorus)
Nothing ever burns down by itself, every fire needs a little bit of help
Nothing ever burns down by itself, every fire needs a little bit of help

Like two gigantic Buddhas
Someone carved from jelly
Huge yet nimble
Strong yet gentle
They pace the sawdust circle
No flicker of emotion
Huge yet nimble
Strong yet gentle
Years of dedication
Mental preparation
Huge yet nimble
Strong yet gentle
Two gigantic Buddhas
Someone carved from jelly
Huge yet nimble
Strong yet gentle

Salt fare, North Sea
Salt fare, North Sea
Salt fare, North Sea
Salt fare, North Sea
Roll on, roll off
With these words I drown
Topmast secured
Hatches battened down
Sometimes I think
It must be different on land
But from the mast I can only see tyrants
Still in command
Fish and chip supper
Battered, no bones
Hung, drawn and quoted
And drifting alone
One thousand lashes
For the age of reason
Salt for your wounds
When the cod's in season
Salt fare, North Sea
Salt fare, North Sea
Salt fare, North Sea
Salt fare, North Sea
We reach the horizon
And sail over the edge
Drunk on our memories
More sober than a judge
I'm wasting time
That I can't afford
I know I'd die on the gallows
Before I'd die of being bored
Drifting along, drifting along
Drifting along, drifting along
Salt fare, North Sea
Salt fare, North Sea
Salt fare, North Sea
Salt fare, North Sea
Salt fare, North Sea
M spells man, K spells kind, could somebody tell me is man kind?
Manking is saying, gotta say goodbye now, gotto say goodbye to mother earth
I mean, how could I ever say that to her?
She's my mother, and I love her, there's no other, mother earth, mother earth
I used to watch, watch with mother, I grew up with her
Now I'm grown up, I stand on my own two feet, but that's no reason to forget her
By acting with mother not against her
First second and third worlds can help each other
By sharing the load, we can bear the burden
By working together we can replant the garden
Mother nature can be a right bastard at times, but I reckon she's a whole lot cleverer than mankind. He might have more experience, especially in apathy. Well ask him or ask yourself, 'War, poverty, death, rape, and violence on our streets?' And he'll look at you blankly and say, 'Mindless'. Man made catastrophe and it's happening now, today, so we're right up shit creek without a paddle, without a boat even. Question, what are full of holes yet hold much water? Answer, people. People need each other, not money, not packaged shit, we need each other.
How to be nice to each other?
How to talk to each other?
How to live together again?
Just when you figured it out someone lets you down
Who'll make all the wrong decisions when the judge is up for trial?
No-one has the cure for all our daily hurts
Least of all this rock and roll
And I never-ever said what you said I said
What price poverty sheik?
What price scissors and stone?
All queueing up for the knacker's yard
Crack you face, laugh out loud
For a few brief words and a few short lines I was taken to the coliseum, fed to the lions. And lions aren't the type you can really love enough, but you can turn 'em into rugs! Ow mate, can you spare some change? Too much. Are you down on your fashion, or down on your luck? Sometimes questions never get dropped. Oi Mick, are you dancing? I never stopped!
L A U G H I N G laughing...

And we got to find as many ways, as many ways as we can find
Of saying no to the ways of governments and multinational companies
And we got to find as many ways, as many ways as we can find
Of saying no to the ways of governments and multinational companies
Yeh, got to find as many ways, as many ways as we can find
Of saying no to the ways of governments and multinational murdering bastards
There's entertainment
There's politics
There's popular culture
There's dialectics
But never the twain shall meet
Never the twain shall meet
This is a myth, propagated by the bourgeois wordsmiths
Who never put a ball in the back of the net
Who never padded up or picked up a bat
Who never spent an afternoon watching their sport
Never saw the bosses quietly taking over
Never saw the stadiums, terraces, arenas
Bought off, remodeled by g plan designers
Sold off and ripped off by company directors
All these so called "revolutionaries"
Who are too busy with the uprising to see what's going on
Will be shocked to discover that at this very moment
Ron pickering is preparing a crack squad of proles
Too liberate our sport from it's capitalist oppressors
In tracksuits and trainers, the rising of the masses!
This is the Goodship Lifestyle
All my friends jumped ship
I elect me the captain
This is the loneliest voyage
I've ever been on
Up in the crow's nest
Over there! I see land!
First mate There is no First Mate
This is the Goodship Lifestyle
Sail away from the world
Sail away from the world
So steer a course, a course for nowhere
And drop the anchor my little Empire
I'm going nowhere, I'm going nowhere
I'm going nowhere, I'm going nowhere
This is the Goodship Lifestyle
I fly my very own flag
TV dinners for one at the captain's table
Repel all boarders!
Draw the curtains tighter!
Where's the crew There is no crew
This is the Goodship Lifestyle
Sail away from the world
Sail away from the world
So steer a course, a course for nowhere
And drop the anchor, my little Empire
I'm going nowhere, I'm going nowhere
I'm going nowhere, I'm going nowhere
There are those
Spend the night
Under bridges
Over by the river
Down in the park
Through the winter
But there's a house
That I know
Safe and warm
And no-one ever goes there
Down where the priests
Bless the wine
She's been born into the wrong time
She keeps nonsense on her mind
She's a poet, she's a builder
She's as bored as bored can be
She's a have-not, she's a know-all
She knows just how to say yes
She's skating frozen chaos
Till the no good gods are dead
But sometimes in the dead of night
Woken by the city lights
She wonders how she keeps alive
This is the girl who lost the house which
Paid to the man who put up the rent and
Threw out the girl to feather his own sweet home
She's a clueless social climber
Likes the wrong side of the bed
She's a pick-me-up and she's a drink-to-me
In the company of friends
She's tried every variation
She's so common, she's so cold
She's homesick for a future
Can't stomach what she's told
On every street in every town
All her days are up and down
At home among the lost-and-founds
This is the girl who lost the house which
Paid to the man who put up the rent and
Threw out the girl to feather his own sweet home
Here's the good samaritan
Looks away and carries on
This is the girl who lost the house which
Paid to the man who put up the rent and
Threw out the girl to feather his own sweet home
And no-one ever goes there
And every morning comes too soon
All your nights are sleepless
Poison arrows
To ruin your tomorrows
Below suspicion
Cafes full of people dressed as spies
And all I know
Is guilt for being different
It's always raining stones
There's a killer in my home
In a small town
Everybody looks the same
There are unwritten rules
Unspoken words
Should I pack my fear and go?
I have to leave somehow
Before they run me out of town
I have to leave somehow
And every morning comes too soon
All your nights are sleepless
Poison arrows
To ruin your tomorrows
There are unwritten rules
Unspoken words
Should I pack my fear and go?
I have to leave somehow
Before they run me out of town
I have to leave somehow
I have to leave somehow
Before they run me out of town
I have to leave somehow
I have to leave somehow
Before they run me out of town
I have to leave somehow
I have to leave somehow
Before they run me out of town
I have to leave somehow
Aftershave and smoke
And the same unfunny jokes
They say they'll take you
quot;Anywhere but there quot;
Believe every half-whispered
Half-remembered lie
Where truth is a luxury
They can't afford to buy
Scapegoat, looking for a scapegoat
Scapegoat, looking for a scapegoat
There's always someone else for you to blame
There's always someone else for you to blame
Backed into a corner he barricades his life
Fastens up the shutters every night
This island is big enough for every castaway
But most of us are looking round for someone else to blame
Scapegoat, looking for a scapegoat
Scapegoat, looking for a scapegoat
There's always someone else for you to blame
There's always someone else for you to blame
There's always someone else for you to blame
There's always someone else for you to blame
(Woof, woof, woof, woooo)
Got my photograph taken with Elvis
Circled round the earth in a rocket ship
Found the world cup in a garden
And I must've saved a million drowning babies
You can imagine what a come down
Drug-busts and house fires
I didn't orbit the earth to be bossed around
By someone wearing flares!
Ain't nothin', ain't nothin', ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Ain't nothin', ain't nothin', ain't nothin' but a hound dog
Ain't nothin', ain't nothin', ain't nothin'
We'll be singing
When we're winning
We'll be singing
I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down.
I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down
Drinking the night away
Drinking the night away
He drinks a whisky drink
He drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink
He drinks a cider drink
He sings the songs that remind him
Of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him
Of the better times
"Oh Danny Boy
Danny Boy..."
I get knocked down
But i get up again
You're never Goin to keep me down
I get knocked down
But i get up again
You're never Goin to keep me down
Drinking the night away
Drinking the night away
He drinks a whisky drink
He drinks a vodka drink
He drinks a lager drink
He drinks a cider drink
He sings the songs that remind him
Of the good times
He sings the songs that remind him
Of the better times
"Don't cry for me
Next door neighbour..."
I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down
I get knocked down
But I get up again
You're never going to keep me down
We'll be singing
When we're winning
By the time I got to Woodstock
It was going up in flames
In June under a silvery moon
Why do all your songs turn out the same?
Got got got got, not got
Got got got got, not got
Got got got got, not got
Got got got got, not got
I'm not sorry I was having fun
I'm not sorry
I got that old time religion
Where we still don't cross the picket lines
You got Rush Limbaugh on your side
But I got Ricky Tomlinson on mine
Got got got got, not got
Got got got got, not got
Got got got got, not got
Got got got got, not got
I'm not sorry I was having fun
I'm not sorry
Got got got got, not got
Got got got got, not got
Got got got got, not got
Got got got got, not got
I'm not sorry I was having fun
I'm not sorry
Now since this, uh, single was a great hit all over the world you must have earned a lot of money and we were wondering how being an anarchist and, um, being a rich man get along together?
Outsider, outsider, outsider, outsider
Outsider, outsider, outsider, outsider
For over half a million young people every weekend
A good night out means breaking the law
Outsider, outsider, outsider, outsider
Outsider, outsider, outsider, outsider
I'm not alone, you're not alone
I'm not alone, you're not alone
Outsider, outsider, outsider, outsider
Outsider, outsider, outsider, outsider
You see me, you hear me
There are millions think just like me
You see me, you hear me
There are millions think just like me
I'm not alone, you're not alone
I'm not alone, you're not alone
Outsider, outsider, outsider, outsider
Outsider, outsider, outsider, outsider
You see me, you hear me
There are millions think just like me
You see me, you hear me
There are millions think just like me
You see me, you hear me
There are millions think just like me
You see me, you hear me
There are millions think just like me
You see me, you hear me
There are millions think just like me
You see me, you hear me
There are millions think just like me
You see me, you hear me
Pontius Pilate came to our town
Up to the dockyards to see the picket line
We asked him to help but he just turned around
He's the leader of the union now
Leader of the union
All of our questions he ignored
He washed his hands and he dreamed of his reward
A seat in the House of Lords
One by one, the ships come sailing in
One by one, the ships go sailing out
We live for words and die for words
Principles we can afford
When all our Brothers turn to Lords
Whose side are you on
You tell the world your hands are tied
History three times denied
A sea of changes three miles wide
Whose side are you on
One by one, the ships come sailing in
One by one, the ships go sailing out
This conspiracy of shame
Murder by some other name
Play up and play the game
Whose side are you on
If any ask us why we died
We tell them that our leaders lied
Sold us out down the riverside
Whose side are you on
One by one, the ships come sailing in
One by one, the ships go sailing out
Blue-rinse sugar
Wipe-clean couple
Pinched last supper
Counting pretty penny

They'll kick your face in
So politely
This is Tearoom England
They'll kick your face in
Oh so nicely
I want more!
No hurry, so sorry, don't worry
No hurry, so sorry, don't worry
I want more!
Bite-size china
Tea or tartar
Lipstick traces
Table set to bless
Sweet charity
Lukewarm whisper
Still-life platter
Under heavy manners
This is Tearoom England
They'll kick your face in
So politely
This is Tearoom England

Oh so nicely

There'll be new events in seoul '88
Throwing the molotov and the hundred meter loot
Hurdling over barricades putting the brick
Vaulting over riot cops in the peoples olympics
The people are angry and the boss is running scared
The olympics of the oppressed, and the boss is running scared
People are content with olympic prestige
It means the poor are evicted to house the rich
Let big business move in and advertise
To gloss over the reality of korean daily life
But the people are angry and the boss is running scared
The olympics of the oppressed and the boss is running scared
Chapt. One - Manf Ugga-Ugga Freaks Out
Man grabbed hold of the wrong end of the branch and it snapped
Man was fallen down
Fallen down to the ground, to the brown
He felt a right dick lying in the dirt of the ground
From that day on he reeked a vengeance upon the ground
When I play cricket
I'm the longest at the wicket
I can jump and swim
And I live in the gym
But I can't come to terms
With my existence as part of the universe
I gaze at the sky
I think how? when? and why?
I go to the lavatory
In tune with astrology
Well I get really confused
With the complicated scoring system
Used in tennis
I get around in canoes
Racing cars, balloons
I drink squash, eat polo
Mints, climb mountains solo
But I can't get my head
'round that salvador dali
Weirdo stuff
I really feel fine
With the planets in line
I see the future in hands
And I live off the land
But I can't see frank bruno
Asking me which star sign
I think he is
Whether you are physically
Or mentally inclined
Imagine what the fun could be
If both could be combined
I know I'm speaking as a weakling
With a cosmic kind of mind
But I can feel in sport emotions
Of a unifying kind
So do whatever you like to do
And whether you win or not
Make sure the game was fairly played
And try to smile a lot
Because whatever you do should be good for you
Make the most of what you've got
'cause whatever you do should be good for you
Make the most of what you've got
Well, you're a waste of space, your unnatural grace
You're so bloody thin, you don't even begin
To interest me, not even curiosity
It's not animosity, you just don't interest me
Well, you're an energy void, a black hole to avoid
No style, no heart, you don't even start
To interest me, not even curiosity
It's not animosity, you just don't interest me
Tell me, why don't you tell me?
Tell me, why don't you tell me?
They're here and they're there and they're everywhere
(Repeat)
We're taught that after the war the Nazis vanished without a trace
But batallions of fascists still dream of a master race
The history books they tell of their defeat in forty-five
But they all come out of the woodwork on the day the Nazi died
They say the prisoner of Spandau was a symbol of defeat
Whilst Hess remained imprisoned and the fascists they were beat
So the promise of an aryan world would never materialise
So why did they all come out of the woodwork on the day the Nazi died
They're here and they're there and they're everywhere
(Repeat)
The world is riddled with maggots--the maggots are getting fat
They're making a tasty meal of all the bosses and bureacrats
They're taking over the board rooms and they're fat and full of pride
And they all came out of the woodwork on the day the Nazi died
So if you meet with these historians I'll tell you what to say
Tell them that the Nazis never really went away
They're out there burning houses down and peddling racist lies
And we'll never rest again until every Nazi dies
At farnley park cricket ground there's a sycamore tree
And it stands thirty feet inside the boundary
I think that someone slapped a preservation order on the tree
So it's good the players don't take the game too seriously
Now there are no advertising boards to get in the way
And no computer scoreboard, hip, hip, hooray
Just an old bloke and a stubby pencil end
Who misses a run or two now and again
You see he's too busy looking at the sycamore tree
He says, "it's all part of the game"
And I agree
Love me, love me, love me, love me
I have climbed the highest mountains
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you, only to be with you
I have run, I have crawled,
I have scaled these city walls, these city walls,
Only to be with you
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
I have kissed holy lips
Felt the healing fingertips
They burned like fire, this burning desire
I have spoke the tongues of angels
I have held the hand of the devil
It was warm in the night, I was cold as a stone
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
Love me, love me, love me, love me
I believe in kingdom come
And all the colors will bleed into one, will bleed into one
And yes I'm still running
You broke the bonds, you loosed the chains
You carried the cross of my shame, for my shame
You know I believe it
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
'Somewhere over the rain -hic-'
Through the turnstile, concrete jungle, sterile habitat of iron.
Symbol of brutality like supermarkets, missile silos.
Man puts up more barriers, creates his world, denies another.
Animal, unwilling captive, mirrors how the captors live.
Prisoner, imprisoner, it's only the cage sides makes us different.
(reading from the book and tearing of the book)
'Man's genius is a mind with which to reason, and he has the power to draw out the full potential of specific elements. When you consider the many millions of animals upon the earth at any time, the priviledge of human company is enjoyed by very, very few of them. One place where wild animals meet with human beings is in the zoo. There is a tremendous bonding between zoo animals and their keepers. And though some animals are indeed contented simply to be fed, and have their billets cleaned, others, and especially the mammals, depend a great deal upon their keeper's company, and respond with great intelligence when they are treated with intelligence and affection.'
And the spectacle will always have control
As it keeps us all struggling alone
Providing little boxes for us all
Demanding that we never ask for more
And we all sit back and drug away the pain
In a world that keeps us passive and tame
Isolated we will never realize
How we're spectators in their paradise
Whilst we're stuck inside the ghetto we create
With distractions there to keep us all content
These fences are promises and lies
Lets take the blindfold from our eyes
Through eating too much supper before I went to bed
Strange thoughts came on my slumber, strange thoughts came in my head
This world seemed topsy-turvey and people of reknown
Were doing the most peculiar things as they world turned upside down
I dreamt there was no work house and there were no starving poor
And nations never did quarrel, nor never went to war
I thought all men were angels and women ne'er wore a frown
Old maids they had large families as the world turned upside down
'Forward with Braitain!' with the Daily Mirror
'The Facts Not The Fiction' boasts The Star
The fact is that attacks on Asians and Blacks
By people who read this racist crap
Are higher than ever before
--But you won't find that in The Star
Shock! Horror!
In the pages of The Sun you're alright if you're white
And not gay, or Irish, or out on strike.
Toilet paper to serve the nation
'Those filthy Asians! And Rastafarians!'
Deportation
Repatriation
Intimidation
Condemnation
Prejudice in the Daily Express
Wapping lies all over The Times
And the molotov which burnt out the shop
Had a screwed-up Daily Mail
Stuck inside the top
All hail the patriot who always buys
These government-sponsored media lies
Who spends each lunch-break getting filled with shit
Who pays for it, and who believes in it...
Shock! Horror!
Chapt nine, Armagodman
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness. For his name's sake, yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff, they confort me.
Roll up roll up
The greatest show on Earth
Animals clowns freaks misfits contortionists
Fun for all the family
Currently residing in the 'where are they now' file
All tied up in elastic
Stubborn like weeds they've been here all the while
I saw the egis grow
In good working order adjustable spanner
Industry junkies
Regurgitated cabaret under the hammer
They were running the show
Let's hear it for

Last year's thing
Next year's thing
Step right this way
Thrills chills and spills
Marvel at the daring feats
Pure entertainment
Karaoke sex we can spend the night together
I made a date with Elvis
While someone does a runner with the group's bread and butter
I heard the colonel sing
From a packet of twenty when will they learn

That for one good smoke there's nineteen that burn
I never saw the strings

Live by fire die by fire
I am the dog in the manger
Or a dodgy brown packet with suspicious-looking wires
Here's my starter for ten
Behind that pane of glass your special backstage pass
Hear the never-has-been
Meet the manager with his kex down and kiss his arse
And watch what happen again

I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die Rag
Yeah, come on all of you, big strong men,
Uncle Sam needs your help again.
He's got himself in a terrible jam
Way down yonder in Vietnam
So put down your books and pick up a gun,
We're gonna have a whole lotta fun.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Well, come on generals, let's move fast;
Your big chance has come at last.
Gotta go out and get those reds -
The only good commie is the one who's dead
And you know that peace can only be won
When we've blown 'em all to kingdom come.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Huh!
Well, come on Wall Street, don't move slow,
Why man, this is war au-go-go.
There's plenty good money to be made
By supplying the Army with the tools of the trade,
Just hope and pray that if they drop the bomb,
They drop it on the Viet Cong.
And it's one, two, three,
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.
Well, come on mothers throughout the land,
Pack your boys off to Vietnam.
Come on fathers, don't hesitate,
Send 'em off before it's too late.
Be the first one on your block
To have your boy come home in a box.
And it's one, two, three
What are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam.
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Creation, not so much out of the blue as
Once upon a time there was a pile of brown
And out of that brown grew pips and seeds
And worms crawled from out of that brown
And life flourished and multiplied, multiplied
And pips and seeds grew into plants and trees
And bore fruit which was easten by wormkind
And worms grew wings or fins or arms and legs
And grew into animalkind, animalkind
And creatures walked the earth
And fish swam in the sea
And birds flew in between trees
That's how we came to be
And pips and seeds were returned to the earth
Along with a generous helping of brown
And life continued to grow and flourish
From brown to green, from green to brown
Like, like the seasons
And was regenerating, always regenerating
The earth was everybody's home
Every being was free to grow and roam
Their roots were everywhere and everything
All dependent on each other for existing
Existing as one
Whole earth catalogue
Existing as one
Big happy family
Existing as one
Web of destiny
Existing as one
And so in the tradition of Manfred the Great
The people built the glorious vision in his name
Great Britain they called it, a land for heroes
A land where no one was starving, a paradise, a garden of Eden
The garden of Eden, levelled to the ground
And concreted over, re-built from scratch
With I.C.I. man-made fibres, they made their paradise out of plastic
But our world is cracked and it's showing through
The plastic backed cello-taped superglue
The paper money and the patched up lies
The cover-up jobs, the fact they try to hide
That all the king's horses and all the king's men
Will never stick our world together again
With their plastic, sticky-backed, red-taped lies,
And all the paper money they exchange for our lives
Think about it, our world, all the ecological catastrophes
They're happening all at once, at the same time now
Mankind to the rescue, I ask you why?
To him tomorrow is just another fucking day fucking up the earth
Filling his fat silver-lined pockets full
So please listen, dear peoplekind
See the reason that minkind won't save the earth
Cos there's no money in it for him, it's not worth his while
It's up to us
It's up to us
(Chorus)
Open your eyes, time to wake up
Enough is enough is enough is enough
Open your eyes, time to wake up
Enough is enough is enough is enough
Enough is enough is enough
Give the fascist man a gunshot
Enough is enough is enough
Give the fascist man a gunshot
Trying and trying again to get this damn thing done
It can't done
Come shoot the fascist with a gun
'Cause it's stopping us from unity
We cannot see reality
Just vanity insanity Fusion cannot stand it see
No man fascist man will ever get me outta the land
So understand Fusion plan to stop them with a bang
We sang and sang to make the people all unite
Not fight but fight because the leaders don't think right
You burnt us in the past you know it won't happen again
So black and white take a stand and all try to defend
All of the people and the children who are living in the past
Just blast and blast don't make the fascist man last
(Repeat chorus)
On and on and on you know the feeling's so strong
So long
It's wrong
I'm telling you it's wrong
Destruction confusion and blaming it on the color
I wonder in horror 'cause the people start to follow
All the leaders and the rulers who are putting up the fence
It's dense immense and you say you're talking sense
Bull, bull I want to say it full
But people on the radio you know will make a pull
So I try to tone it down to make the whole world know
That the language of my violence will proceed in my show
Flow, flow to make the fascist man know
that unity is here and unity will grow
(Repeat chorus)
I want to wake up, I want to wake up
I want to wake up, I want to wake up
Open your eyes, time to wake up
Enough is enough is enough is enough
Remember mexico '86?
"dirty" diego, the saint and greaves
All covering up the cracks of an economic crisis
What the cameras don't show the viewers won't notice
Earthquake victims still in shacks
And 5,000 steelworkers given the sack
The protestors demanding beans not goals
The reality hidden as the spectacle prevails
Create a diversion, hide the real poverty
You noble diggers all stand up now, stand up now
You noble diggers all stand up now
The wasteland to maintain sin (?) cavaliers by name
Your digging does maintain and persons all defame
Stand up now, stand up now
Your houses they pull down stand up now, stand up now
Your houses they pull down, stand up now
Your houses they pull down to fright your men in town
But the gentry must come down and the poor shall wear the crown
Stand up now diggers all
With spades and hoes and plows stand up now, stand up now
With spades and hoes and plows, stand up now
Your freedom to uphold sin (?) cavaliers are bold
To kill you if they could and rights from you to hold
Stand up now diggers all
The gentry are all round stand up now, stand up now
The gentry are all round stand up now
The gentry are all round on each side the are found
Their wisdom so profound to cheat us of our ground
Stand up now stand up now
The lawyers they conjoin stand up now stand up now
The lawyers they conjoin stand up now
To rescue they advise, such fury they devise, the devil in them lies
And hath blinded both their eyes
Stand up now, stand up now
The clergy they come in stand up now, stand up now
The clergy they come in stand up now
The clergy they come in and say it is a sin
That we should now begin our freedom for to win
Stand up now diggers all
'Gainst lawyers and 'gainst priests stand up now stand up now
'Gainst lawyers and 'gainst priests stand up now
For tyrants they are both, even flat against their oath
To grant us they are loathe free meat and drink and cloth
Stand up now diggers all
The club is all their law, stand up now stand up now
The club is all their law, stand up now
The club is all their law, to keep all men in awe
That they no vision saw to maintain such a law
I'm a loner, alone with neuroses and hate
Anger is a permanent character trait
My letter bombs are primed and they're ready to send
Would you like to add me as a friend?
I'm a wound-up whiner with a fetish for guns
I'm almost 50 and I live with my Mum
I hope my nude picture doesn't offend
Would you like to add me as a friend?
Add me, add me
Me mother says she wished she'd never 'ad me
Add me, add me
Would you like to add me as a friend?
Would you like to add me as a friend?
I'm a recovering alcoholic, I rarely leave my room
Peeping through the curtains in my dog costume
The voices in my head, oh they'll get me in the end
Would you like to add me as a friend?
I'd really like to mail you the picture that I drew
It's Kylie's body but the head is you
I've asked you fifty times before, I'm asking you again--
Would you like to add me as a friend?
Add me, add me
Me mother says she wished she'd never 'ad me
Add me, add me
Would you like to add me as a friend?
Would you like to add me as a friend?
Add me, add me
Me mother says she wished she'd never 'ad me
Add me, add me
Would you like to add me as a friend?
Would you like to add me as a friend?
Here's a picture of me in my Nazi uniform
Doing a trick with an egg that I like to perform
At a monster truck rally that my Mum and me attend
Would you like to add me as a friend?
I've added Britney and Paris and you and Tom
I'm going to find your address so I can visit you at home
I don't like people but I like to pretend
Would you like to add me as a friend?
Add me, add me
Me mother says she wished she'd never 'ad me
Add me, add me
Would you like to add me as a friend?
Sitting on the shelf when someone called my number
With a template in one hand, scissors in the other
'What lump of clay is this?' Said the king maker to me
Dull, gray matter, perfect for his alchemy
The future flesh and blood on the bones of the big lie
A no-wit who's face fits and never wonders why
I met my Mephistophelles, the papers sealed in blood
Like I got a transfer deal the lad done good
(Chorus)
Good King Danbert at the helm
His face on every coin of the realm
And every time we sing, it's three cheers for the king
Hey, hey, hey
Sirhan, Sirhan, where have you gone?
All mixed up
We take a fool for a king
All mixed up
Mistake a fool for a king
(Repeat)
The washing powder advert
That everybody hates
But all the research shows that's how brand names are made
Squeaky clean, no skeletons
In other words I've never lived
Makes me highly-qualified
To decide what gives
Rough-shod, riding rail-road
Over all the awkward questions
Queen Victoria of Grantham
To give me her blessing
It's written all over me
I'm touched by the hand
I am the something very rotten
In the state of little England
(Repeat chorus)
All mixed up
They're the bosses of tomorrow
They're called the fcs
Fascist conservative sheep
Who claim to know what's best
Tied to dad's finances
And only just out of school
They want progressive capitalism
And imperialist rule
And it just goes to show
That higher education
Is just the thing for blinding kids
With lies and information
These students think that with their vast experience of life, they know and understand the answers to the world's problems. and all the people around the world without food and civil liberties, the people of nicaragua, and ireland, and chile, and el salvador, and grenada, and south africa... well they're all ignorant peasants without university educations...
Don't let education stand in your way
They're the bosses of tomorrow
They're called the FCS
Fascist Conservative Sheep
Who claim to know what's best
Tied to dad's finances
And only just out of school
They want Progressive Capitalism
And Imperialist Rule
And it just goes to show
That Higher Education
Is just the thing for blinding kids
With lies and information
These students think that with their vast experience of life, they know and understand the answers to the world's problems. And all the people around the world without food and civil liberties, the people of Nicaragua, and Ireland, and Chile, and El Salvador, and Grenada, and South Africa... Well they're all ignorant peasants without University educations...
Don't let education stand in your way
Lie lie lie lie, lie lie lie, lie lie lie
Lie lie lie lie, lie lie lie, lie lie lie
I failed the audition, for celebrity squares
Your life is a dream, then you wake up
You watch Friends together, then you break up
I could win an Oscar, I could be so sincere
Lie lie lie lie, lie lie lie, lie lie lie
Lie lie lie lie, lie lie lie, lie lie lie
My psychic make-up, it's all over the place
Your life is a dream, then you wake up
You watch Friends together, then you break up
I'd like to thank you all, through this flood of tears
Lie lie lie lie, lie lie lie, lie lie lie
Lie lie lie lie, lie lie lie, lie lie lie
Thank you, thank you, oh, thank you, thank you
Lie lie lie lie, lie lie lie, lie lie lie
Lie lie lie lie, lie lie lie, lie lie lie
Lie lie lie lie, lie lie lie, lie lie lie
I saw one legged skiers, agile and graceful
In and out the slalom, rushing ever downwards
And there weren't any losers
I saw marathon runners, strong and determined
Hunched in wheelchairs, and pushing ever onwards
And there weren't any losers
That was really good
Yeah wasn't it?
Yeah
Uhh what about the record?
Ahh they'll get it
It's a no-no, I've gotta heave-ho
I got no stomach for a dumbed-down tomato
Gene genie, rogue soya beanie
Get thee behind me patent margarinie
Here's to you and your health and happiness
Here's to you and your health and happiness
Here's to you and your health and happiness
Here's to you and your health and happiness
Bobby can you hear me?
Wh-what a day?
Polo has the biggest pitch of any ball game
Polo has the biggest idiots
On the biggest pitch of any ball game
Polo has the biggest idiots
With the biggest bank accounts
On the biggest pitch of any ball game
I wish that polo had the biggest rate of death
Of the biggest idiots
With the biggest bank accounts
You see who's over there in the corner?
Little Jack Horner, sat in a corner...
I say, I say, I say
Why'd Jack Horner sit in the corner?
The story goes it's cos he had a square bum.
Well I'm telling you, that's not absolutely true
He was told to sit there by his teacher.
Jack's crime was this, he said, 'teacher you are wrong, the British army killed a lot of people too. The empire's built on the broken backs and the stolen land of all them blacks, all paid for out of your income tax.'
She said, 'I won't stand for that. Don't give me your back chat, the headmaster will surely hear of this.'
She said, 'Don't speak until you're spoken to. I'll tell you what you can and can't do. Now go and sit in that corner 'till I get back.'
Jack was all alone
Struggling on his own
But when the head walked in the children made such a din
They said, 'Jack get up, you got to get out. Don't let them push you about, you know they'll keep you in that corner 'till you're dead. Jack get out, don't sell out, don't compromise with Christmas pies, you know they'll keep you in that corner 'till you're dead. Keep shouting back, you tell 'em Jack, don't swallow none of their crap, you know they'll keep you in that corner 'till you're dead. Calling Jack Horners everywhere, don't bend to authority which doesn't care, you know they'll keep you in that corner 'till you're dead.'
Oh, Charleston Heston
Your father's favorite son
Walks in whistling Casey Jones
Moses with a gun
Oh, Charleston Heston
Your father's favorite son
Round and round and
Sacrifice
Once upon a time
Days of wine and roses and smug suburban swine
Same old songs, same old cabaret
A fairytale in Notting Hill
Take your partners for the standing still
Once upon a time
Not so happy ending for the Mersey and the Tyne
Who said the story had to end this way?
A fairytale on Beeston Hill
Take your partners for the standing still
Stupid
Stupid
Stupid
Stupid, stupid, stupid
Guess what? I'm with stupid
Guess what? 'Cause I'm with you
Guess what? I'm with stupid
Guess what? 'Cause I'm with you
Another white boy band
They're happy on demand
Everything is planned
Until the singer gets a habit
Guess what?
Guess what? This could get to be a habit
Guess what?
Guess what? This could get to be a habit
Guess what? I'm with stupid
Guess what? 'Cause I'm with you
Guess what? I'm with stupid
Guess what? 'Cause I'm with you
I'm going out of my head
Inside a T.A.Z
You won't catch me livin' or dead
On the Hollywood A-list
Guess what?
Guess what? The Hollywood A-list
Guess what?
Guess what? Come and get your arse kissed
Guess what? I'm with stupid

And now for the rest of this record
We have a selection of musical items
With a W and a W and a W dot
With a W and a W and a W dot
With a W and a W and a W dot
Ooh, Mr. Murdoch can I show you around?
A new religion, no beat no rhythm
Just Walmart wall to wall
A Kodak baby in the land of plenty
Honey, I blew up the world
With a W and a W and a W dot
With a W and a W and a W dot
C'mon
Norman Rockwell come on in
Hang your dirty coat on the door
Don't you worry 'bout the cops downstairs
They're just diggin' up the cellar floor
I'm in trouble again
I'm in trouble again
I'm in trouble again
Tried to be so squeaky clean
But I'm in trouble again, oh yeah
(I'm in trouble again)
People say I'm nasty mean
But I'm in trouble again, oh yeah
(I'm in trouble again)
I'm the girl from stars in their eyes
But I walked into a life of crime
Now I turn water into corporate pop
And Danbert is a friend of mine
I'm in trouble again
I'm in trouble again
I'm in trouble again
Tried to be so squeaky clean
But I'm in trouble again, oh yeah
(I'm in trouble again)
People say I'm nasty mean
But I'm in trouble again, oh yeah
(I'm in trouble again)
I got a plastic toy with my happy meal
I got a plastic toy with my happy meal
I got a plastic toy with my happy meal
I feel sick, c'mon
Tried to be so squeaky clean
But I'm in trouble again, oh yeah
(I'm in trouble again)
People say I'm nasty mean
But I'm in trouble again, oh yeah
(I'm in trouble again)
Tried to be so squeaky clean
But I'm in trouble again, oh yeah
(I'm in trouble again)
People say I'm nasty mean
But I'm in trouble again, oh yeah
(I'm in trouble again)
Harry, tomorrow we sit together
In ignorance, I still assumed this body was mine, that I could choose. I had faith for charity and understanding sympathy. But no, we're seen as baby machines. Face judge, jury, and male GPs, found guilty, careless, callous, cold, and told the things we're always told by the gentle, prime-time moralist on national daily news, with persuasive smile he'll take away a woman's right to choose. They say the Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away. But not beyond the eighteenth week if Alton has his way.
'Have you considered what you're going to lose? Do you realize what you're asking me to do? Are there medical reasons? And, oh, by the way, you know we can't help you unless you pay?'
Desperation and a waiting list. You don't count blessings, just weeks missed. Problems are beginning to show. It's so impersonal, so painfully slow.
'Do you know what you'll put my conscience through? Do you know just how few women are as lucky as you? No, the delay's not deliberate. It just takes time. And maybe by then you'll have changed your mind.'
Poacher come with his poacher's gun
Out in the woods to shoot someone
"My lord your time has come"
Right between the eyes!
Fell his master not by chance
Away with pomp and circumstance
Come join our merry dance
To the rhythm of goodbye
(Chorus)
Farewell the jewel crown
Farewell the velvet gown
Watch it all come tumbling down
Goodbye to the crown
Goodbye to the crown
Goodbye to the King of Nothing, really
Wave of a hand, not a life of Riley
Part Nazi, part King Billy
Goodbye to the crown
Goodbye to the dear old mum
Mummified on gin and rum
Smile and wave and just play dumb
Goodbye to the crown
(Repeat chorus)
Goodbye to the media whore
And all the pious work for the poor
And all the faces that she wore
Goodbye to the crown
Goodbye to the royal We
And all its famous pedigree
Let's put this dog to sleep
Goodbye to the crown
Fascism's in fashion again
What's the color of your skin?
In South Africa
In shanty towns behind the guards bind the people, kick them hard, pack the children off to school 'education'--fascist rule, and Botha smiles for Europe's press
Money makes them all say yes, trading links and weapons, sales
Uranium bribery never fails
I'm not the kind of man
Who'd live a quieter life
Just for a minute's silence
Some say it all without a word
Silence can be mightier than the sword
They took the two three five
They turned it upside down
Why run away to the circus
When the world is full of clowns?
Life has got everything to offer
It's just there for the getting
Didn't he know it was a waste of time
All stitched up by a thin blue line
Didn't he know it was a waste of time
All stitched up by a thin blue line
Well, the facts said yes
But the judge said no
Go straight to jail and don't pass go
He didn't understand
And he told them so
Go straight to jail and don't pass go
Don't pass go
There ain't no justice, just us
There ain't no justice, just us
Didn't he know it was a waste of time
All stitched up by a thin blue line
A little self-protection
They don't want to know
Go straight to jail and don't pass go
And he won't say sorry
Play the old Jim Crow
Go straight to jail and don't pass go
Don't pass go
Didn't he know it was a waste of time
All stitched up by a thin blue line
White paranoia
It runs the show
Go straight to jail and don't pass go
You want table manners
You get rule of law
Go straight to jail and don't pass go
Don't pass go
Didn't he know it was a waste of time
All stitched up by a thin blue line
Don't pass go
Didn't he know it was a waste of time
All stitched up by a thin blue line
Don't pass go
Didn't he know it was a waste of time
All stitched up by a thin blue line
It's a long walk to the gallows
It's a small step to swing free
The crying in the tower
For my conspirators and me
Gunpowder and modem
And a dream of liberty
And then they'll tell you
Don't try this at home
Oh yes, they'll tell you
Don't try this at home
If you walk on the beach with King Canute
You'll be walking back alone
Tonight he'll dine on oysters
While we fall like green acorns
We'll be putting down our roots
Right in the centre of the storm
Oh, but they'll tell you
Don't try this at home
Oh yes, they'll tell you
Don't try this at home
The cry of gulls, the hum of streets
The buzz of phones, the march of feet
We'll meet tonight to draw up plans
Exclamations, ampersands
Somewhere across the water
They're storming palace gates
Scared of the moth-flame metaphor
We fall asleep and wait
Singing for a future
But the chorus comes too late
Because they'll tell you
Don't try this at home
Oh yes, they'll tell you
Don't try this at home
Don't, don't, don't, don't (repeats to end)
Don't try this at home (repeats to end)
Try this at home (repeats to end)
So we're coming to the last dance
I've got another request
With your best foot forward
We'll lay this ghost to rest
So we're coming to the last dance
I've got another request
With your best foot forward
We'll lay this ghost to rest
So we're coming to the last dance
But I don't know you and you don't know me
I mean I think I know we're bound to disagree
So I still don't know you, you still don't know me
But now we both agree that we disagree
'Cause that's the one thing in common we've got, you see
It's that we both disagree
So between us we can double our profits, you see
Now he's going for the grey ball
Into the top left pocket
A touch off the slightly darker grey ball
And he's snookered behind the grey ball
Oh, he's going for the grey ball
Now that's a surprise
A kiss on the slightly lighter grey ball
Now just the grey ball to play
What a colorful game this is!

Don't respect your choice of opinion
If your choice is a racist system
'Freedom of speech'--it's a worthless cause
As long as freedom is defined by laws
We support all forms of resistance
Against this racist system
You tell us to sit and wait
You say we have to beat the racists in open debate
You say it's not democracy
Well that's OK by me
We support all forms of resistance
Against this racist system
They've got police protection
They've got the boss's investments
We've got ourselves and each other
Peace won't come
Peace won't come
Peace won't come by words alone
There's a world in front of you
You've only got a certain space to go
I go to me factory and come back
That's supposed to be my bit of seeing the world
The whole world in front of you
The whole world to see and things that haven't been discovered
No pretty please, pretty pretty please (repeats)
One way or the other
Something's got to change
Humdrum has a stammer
Saying w-w-w-whatever
One way or the other
No pretty please, pretty pretty please (repeats)
Peace won't come by words alone
Peace won't come by words alone
I'm so low on order
But high on what I want
And I've got your number
And I'm coming over
One way or the other
No pretty please, pretty pretty please (repeats)
One way or the other
One way or the other
Peace won't come by words alone
I'm just scraping the social dogma
From the bottom of my soul
No beat, no rhythm
No beat, no rhythm
No beat, no rhythm
{Can you name him?
We'll bring you the answer
Just take a ticket
It takes you nowhere
They saw us coming
It's them and us here
Just keep your voice down
And light another
I am a patient girl
I wait, I wait, I wait
It's not your money
Don't call me stupid
Not big, not clever
Mean can mean awkward
It's Wigan Pier here
I'm not for jumping
See candid camera
Sees next to nothing
(Chorus)
You keep me waiting
I keep on shouting
You keep me waiting
I keep on shouting
You keep me waiting
I keep on shouting
You keep me waiting
My letterbox knows
Bangers and bad news
Good morning campers
Sees queues and queues and queues
They spell my name wrong
It's not for art's sake
And every truth told
Black mark on black mark
You love to chew on
This bread and butter
You crunch your numbers
And push your papers
Pile-up on pile-up
Malicious bad turns
I'll light another
Slow fuses, slow burn
(Repeat chorus)
Chapt. two - guess who? manfred the great
The great king bashed down his goblet on the oaken table as kings do when they want more wine. everyone was silent. 'minstrel the noise of chattering women grates on my ears. play me some music,' he bellowed.
A fairy tale handed down
I believed it, didn't we all
A man, a hero, walks on to the scene
Unquestionably good at everything
First he does battle with various creatures
Which compared to his goodness are evil monsters
Having made dragons extinct forever
He murders a couple of the castle guards
He enters the castle quite unnoticed
And tells the girl he'll be back for her
'and so I shall make her mine forever'
But runs into trouble and is taken prisoner
Is taken to the big bad, bad, bad, baddy
Baddy tells hero how goodness is finished
And has him strapped up to a slow-death device
But he escapes as the rope starts to burn through
The blade crashes down on the block where his head was
With a sword from the wall he finishes the castle guards
A lamp gets knocked over in the panic and a fire starts
A race against time to rescue the princess
To get past the baddy to get out of the castle
Out of the window where the horses are waiting
Judging by his outlandish attire
he's some kind of free thinking anarchist
Can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit

can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
Can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit

can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
Well i'm really back to basics right beside a bar
choke the double trouble big one to the joker with card
good call
what's the crack what's the damage done today
from the commons to the common a banana skin away
knock it back knock it out
chuck a nightmare dart
quiet
compere on the mic turns turning to the court
putting beef vol-au-vents across the union jack
bolinger and bitter says the colonies are back
Can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit

Can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
do something about it
can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
Up yer ronson
take a tab
with a flash of zippo light
catch the hip parade passing the polaroids right
check the manic little rebel with a bottle in his hand
a rhyming manifesto and a butty from his mam
local lad made bad with cowboy charm
claims he doesn't really mean every screw-'em-all barb
pass the mic
karaoke with the yesteryear stars
time to weep into your beer til the fireworks start
Can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
do something about it
can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
Can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
do something about it
can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
You think you're god's gift
you're a liar
i wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire
You think you're god's gift
you're a liar
i wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire
Can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
do something about it
can't hear you 'cos your mouth's full of shit
Hey diddle diddle, here's a brand new riddle
What's shallow and cheap with a hole in the middle
Five fingers holding four wise angels
Little heads float by on clouds of goodness
They're playing voodoo with their Kylie dolls
Sing it right or don't sing it all

Hello, we've got our first caller. You're name's Martin. Hello Martin. You
disagree with our statement policy. Well Martin to tell you the truth I
couldn't agree with you more. It's outrageous, disgusting. But unlike my
colleague on my right, we're the party who say what we do, do what we say. You
can bank on us Mart!
Good evening, Shirley. I'm so glad that you've rung. The matter is as dear to
me as it is to you. Give me four years and I'll get right down to it. Because
unlike my little balding colleague on my left, we don't make promises we can't
keep.
You still there, Martin? Just one more thing. Give us your vote
You want houses? See me afterwards
Want my autograph? See my bodyguard
Pre-election budget handouts
You want a war? No problem!
Just give me your vote
I'm out in the country for a walk one day
I get the urge and I've got to go
I look around, make sure no one's around
I pull down my pants and I face the ground
I think, well, we all go to the toilet
Just like we've got to eat
We don't eat--it's called starvation
We don't babber--constipation
Thirty years of the same old shit
Of music, money, hit after hit
Smiles, lies, sales, walls
That's thirty years of rock and roll
They changed it's name once or twice
Get rebellious with a company deal
Business thrives where honesty fails
Contracts? Con tricks!
Sing revolution, wait 'til it starts
One eye on the bank account, one on the charts
Government-sponsored rebellion--buy it!
A bit more product to keep us quiet!
Shhh
Product sells, people die
Same revolution, wrapped in lies
In these sexist, drugged-up, rock and roles
The biggest prizes to the biggest fools
Ask the puppet-masters who pull the strings
'Who makes the money when the puppets sing?'
Ask the corporations
'Where does the money go?'
Ask the empty-bellied children
'Tell me what are we singing for?'
Until we pull down the walls
It'll stay the same
Until we find something new
Make it change
I know there most be more
So what are we singing for?
These puppets, underneath the skin, have the same problems as you and me--they want to be loved, don't know where to begin. Just a wall's width away, but impossible to get close. Offstage, with nothing to hide behind, the puppets are running away. And meanwhile, we're running away from ourselves... and meanwhile, we're running away from ourselves... and meanwhile, we're running away from ourselves...
If our music makes you happy or content
It has failed
If our music entertains, but doesn't inspire
It has failed
The music's not a threat
Action the music inspires can be a threat!
In the dark times, will we be singing?
Yes, we'll be singing of the dark times.
Every new day's dawn
Brings a song of it's own
Waiting to be sung.
Every new day's dawn
Brings a song of it's own
(Chorus)
'Poverty poverty knock,' my loom is a saying all day
Poverty poverty knock, gaffer's too skinny to pay
Poverty poverty knock, keeping one eye on the clock
I know I can guttle when I hear my shuttle go, 'poverty poverty knock'
Up every morning at five, I wonder that we keep alive
Tired and yawning in the cold morning
It's back to the dreary old drive.
(Repeat chorus)
Oh dear we're going to be late
Gaffer is stood at the gate
We're out of pockets, our wages they'll dock it
We'll have to buy grub on the slate
(Repeat chorus)
And when our wages they'll bring, we're often short of a string
While we are fighting with gaffer for snatching (?)
We know to his breast he will cling
(Repeat chorus)
Sometimes a shuttle flies out
and gives some poor woman a clout
There she lies bleeding but nobody's heeding
Oh who's going to carry her out?
(Repeat chorus)
Oh dear, my poor head it sings
I should have woven three strings
My threads are breaking and my back is aching
Oh dear, I wish I had wings
Poverty poverty knock
Poverty poverty knock
Poverty poverty knock
Words to describe Nicaragua of old
Cash crops and hunger and US control
Coffee and sugar on company land
Made to supply what the boss would demand
Then one July morning in seventy-nine
Nicaragua decided to leave it behind
(Chorus)
And the people are learning to take back their lives
As the country will change, Sandinista survives
Women are winning what they've never known
The power to organize outside the home
Starting to find what is equal and fair
Ensuring that this revolution is shared
Regaining lost chances, demanding much more
Running the factories, fighting the war
(Repeat chorus)
Nobody claims that it's over and done
There's too much depends on enlistment and guns
And raising their children and filling their plates
And chasing the Contras to Washington State
The Yankee conspiracy thrown to the ground
That's where the spirit of change can be found
(Repeat chorus)
I wish
I wish
But it's all in vain
But it's all in vain
I wish
I wish
But it's all in vain
But it's all in vain
I wish
I wish
But it's all in vain
But it's all in vain
Different colours, different faces
Different schools in different places
Scour the morning papers, all in vain
Evening after, who remembers?
Say your prayers for the great pretenders
I see nothing but flowers, all in vain
I wish
I wish
But it's all in vain
But it's all in vain
I wish
I wish
But it's all in vain
But it's all in vain
All the gravestone elegies
I-never-met-you memories
And every TV picture, all in vain
All your questions, deep as skin
Seperate worlds to put them in
Another might-have-been, all in vain
I wish (colour blind as tse-tse flies)
I wish (sucking all our difference dry)
I wish (and as we sleep they multiply)
I wish
I wish (and as we sleep they multiply)
I wish
All in vain
I wish (and as we sleep they multiply)
I wish
All in vain
I wish (and as we sleep they multiply)
And the company director spins the globe
Looks into on atlas of the world
A supermarket lifestyle for as all
A thousand nations under company control
Coca-Cola got machines in every land
No-one got the teeth to bite the hand
Stole their labor, their culture, and their lives
To create a Coca-Cola paradise
Swallowing their soft drinks and their lies
Let's take the blindfold from our eyes
As soon as I'm born they made me feel big
That I was privileged without having to be rich
They had a place set aside for me to help to run this society
If I followed the paths laid down for me
I could join the club called Patriarchy
Because I'm a he, because I'm a he, because I'm a he
If I didn't get far 'cause the ladder was too long
I could be my own boss, with a workforce of one
No matter how low I go there'll always be lower
It's taken for granted that a white man holds power
And I am white, and I'm a man, I don't have to justify what I am
And now it's relatively easy for me to get taken seriously
Because I'm a he, because I'm a he, because I'm a he
'Cause I'm not black and I'm not Irish, I'm not a woman
I don't get too much stick just for being what I am
'Cause I am white and I'm a man, I don't have often to justify what I am
Now it's relatively easy for me to get taken seriously
Because I'm a he, because I'm a he, because I'm a he
Hassled--I've been hassled, but I don't get hassled on sight
I don't dread going out at night, I don't have to worry 'cause I'm alright
Singing about it doesn't exclude me but if I keep quiet then all people see
Is compulsory white male superiority complex that's forced on me
Because I'm a he, because I'm a he
It's no good feeling guilty, it's what I am
But it's up to me to do what I can, by not being what I'm supposed to be
By fighting white male supremacy
By fighting government policy
By fighting bosses of companyies
By fighting fascist democracy
But not forgetting to look at me, no, not forgetting to look at me
Not forgetting to look at me, because I'm a he
There isn't any light at the end of the tunnel
Open your eyes, go and have a look
There isn't any light at the end of the tunnel
If you open our eyes, you might get a surprise
It's all staring you in the face
Open your eyes, see your own light
When the sunlight filters in my room, in the morning
It's not saying 'get up' it's not saying 'time for work'
It's saying 'wake up'
'Wake up'
It's saying 'wake up'
'Wake up, wake up'
