Top 10 Highly Developed Countries 2013 Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/WorldTop10s Twitter: https://twitter.com/WorldTop10s Google +: https://plus.google.com/1052542659091... Music, images, and videos non-copyrighted and free of use. Here is the countdown of the Top 10 Highly Developed Countries: The Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite statistic used to rank countries according to their development levels from "very high" to "low." Countries are placed based on life expectancy, education, standard of living, child welfare, health care, economic welfare, and population happiness. Formulas are used to factor all the variables and determine the scores of countries. Critics have cited the HDI as inaccurate or vague, but coming up with top ten highly developed countries list on my own opinion would have been very subjective and probably badly ranked. Thus, I have simply listed the first ten countries on the HDI and displayed their scores. Enjoy! 10. Japan 9. Switzerland 8. Sweden 7. Ireland 6. New Zealand 5. Germany 4. The Netherlands 3. United States 2. Australia 1. Norway

Maxwell School, Peer to Peer Developing Stories, Developing Countries: Documentary Short Film and Discussion Jake Herrle, EMIR candidate "The effects of war don’t end when the guns fall silent,” says Ron Atkinson, professor of African History at the University of South Carolina, in an 11:00 documentary short produced and directed by EMIR candidate Jake Herrle. "When the Guns Fall Silent" tells the story of a Ugandan woman who was one of 50,000 children abducted by the rebel group Lord’s Resistance Army. She was forced to serve as a child solider under its leader Joseph Kony, before escaping to an Internally Displaced Persons camp. This film chronicles her life after the war. The screening will be followed by a discussion about putting a face on the complex issues of post-conflict reconstruction. To watch "When The Guns Fall Silent": http://vimeo.com/20335876 Mr. Jake Herrle joins the EMIR program with a passion for peddling ideas and causes that advance the human condition. Previously he was a photographer, director, and producer for EARL, LLC, a production company that specializes in print and motion advertising and editorial campaigns. A lot of time and money is wasted in misguided efforts to provide safe drinking water for people in rural communities in developing countries. On average, 40% of these water systems stop working just a few years after they are built. Billions of dollars in aid money have been thrown at the problem, but it persists. Meanwhile, half of the world's population remains deprived of access to safe water. In this E4C webinar, you will see how the simple lack of preventive maintenance is one of the most common reasons that water systems fail. You will hear from Susan Davis, who founded Improve International in 2011 to fix the problem of broken infrastructure, based on the belief that people deserve to have high-quality water and sanitation services, not just for life, but for generations. View this recorded webinar to: *Learn why people neglect operations and maintenance for rural water systems. *Learn why it is difficult to leave communities in charge of maintaining their own systems. *Hear examples of how organizations support local efforts to keep water services going. E4C holds a new webinar every month. For a schedule of upcoming webinar and an archive of past presentations, please visit: http://engineeringforchange-webinars.org/. The MIT Egyptian Student Association (ESA) presents the second "Distinguished Alumni Lecture." MIT Alumnus Professor Aly El-Shafei will give a talk followed by a Q&A; session on Restructuring Science and Technology Governance in Developing Countries. Abstract: There are many similarities about science governance in developing countries: lack of support for scientists, dysfunctional funding systems, poor science education, science irrelevance to politicians, and lack of impact on society. An online tampon vendor called SHEVA is making a huge difference to the lives of young women in developing countries. The website gives a month's supply of sanitary pads to underprivileged girls with each purchase from its store, and works to offer health education across the world. Many women in the third world go without sanitary items, due to poverty, embarrassment, or lack of education. A recent survey by UNICEF found that 66% of girls in South East Asia didn't know anything about the menstrual cycle until their first period, and although not a developing country, another by WaterAid found that 48% of girls in Iran thought menstruation was a disease.

Joe selling the opportunity to volunteer in a developing country.
Makerere University College of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Biodiversity (COVAB) launches a project aimed to create awareness of the Antimicrobial Resistance burden in food producing animals and humans in the country. This is because most developing countries have relied on antibiotic drugs for treatment, but do not know that the microbes or bacteria have become more resistant, since they still survive in anyway and become more dangerous to human and animal health. The project is intended to ensure that the Antimicrobial Resistance drugs are sustainably put in proper use for better human health, especially in developing countries;

Do you know that 1 among 10 physicians in united states of America studied in Philippines. Being a developing country, How did Philippines achieve this. Let us explore what Philippines medical universities did differently than other developing countries such as India and China. Indian Education Methodology mainly revolves around classroom lecture by teachers followed by examinations. This education methodology mainly utilizes the hearing capability and visual capability of the students. Moreover the focus is mainly on the subject knowledge rather than application of that acquired knowledge. If we compare this to education methodology followed in Philippines, it is completely different. Philippines Education Methodology is based on Dale's Learning Pyramid. In Philippines medical universities, students are asked to demonstrate and practice what they learnt in the form of drama to reduce memory retention. Teachers in Philippines medical universities function as facilitator and not as a lecturer in the classroom. Students are asked to teach the topic to other students followed by discussion on that topic where in which teachers clarify student doubts. Because of their educational methodology Philippines is the major supplier of workforce to united states and many other European countries. William Henry "Bill" Gates III (born October 28, 1955 in Seattle, Washington) is an American business magnate, computer programmer and philanthropist. Gates is the former chief executive officer (CEO) and current chairman of Microsoft, the world’s largest personal-computer software company he co-founded with Paul Allen. He is consistently ranked among the world's wealthiest people and was the wealthiest overall from 1995 to 2009, excluding 2008, when he was ranked third; in 2011 he was the wealthiest American and the second wealthiest person. During his career at Microsoft, Gates held the positions of CEO and chief software architect, and remains the largest individual shareholder, with 6.4 percent of the common stock. He has also authored or co-authored several books.
Gates is one of the best-known entrepreneurs of the personal computer revolution. Gates has been criticized for his business tactics, which have been considered anti-competitive, an opinion which has in some cases been upheld by the courts. In the later stages of his career, Gates has pursued a number of philanthropic endeavors, donating large amounts of money to various charitable organizations and scientific research programs through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, established in 2000.
