The 1873 FA Cup final was a football match between Wanderers and Oxford University on 29 March 1873 at Lillie Bridge in London. It was the second final of the world's oldest football competition, the Football Association Challenge Cup (known in the modern era as the FA Cup). Unusually, the final was held in the morning, so as to avoid a clash with the annual Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race which was held on the same day. Wanderers reached the final without playing a match, as the original rules of the competition stated that the holders would receive a bye straight to the final and other teams would compete to gain the other place in the final and challenge the holders for the trophy. Oxford reached the final when their semi-final opponents, Queen's Park, dropped out of the competition Both teams had key players absent for the final, including several who had represented Wanderers in the previous year's final. The best player on the day was Arthur Kinnaird, who scored the first goal for Wanderers. Charles Wollaston added a second goal towards the end of the match to give Wanderers a 2–0 victory and a second consecutive FA Cup win. This video is targeted to blind users. Newsreel feature on the 1956 FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Birmingham City.
This is probably a film of the 1911 F.A. Cup Final between the football teams Bradford City and Newcastle United, played at the Crystal Palace ground. The film starts with Bradford's captain shaking hands with the referee who wear a suit, with his trousers tucked into boots and socks. The ball is already on the centre circle and a vendor passes by in front of the camera. The Newcastle captain joins the pair and shakes their hands. The Bradford captain tosses the coin and lets it fall to the ground. As all three focus on the coin it is unclear who has won the toss. Cut to shot of packed crowd. All male and mostly wearing flat caps. Some wave their caps in the direction of the camera. One spectator holds up a large umbrella depicting the colours of the team he suports. First-aid man from St. John's Ambulance walks past camera. Cut to action on the pitch. Players scramble for the ball on the touchline. It eventually breaks to a Newcastle player in striped shirt. Aerial challenge between two players results in the ball being punted forward by a Bradford player. Back in the touchline a Bradford player weaves his way through some determined Newcastle challenges with the ball. Same aerial challenge repeated, the repeat of action from the touchline. Switch to behind Btadford goal as Newcastle attack. The Bradford keeper stays on his toes on his goal line as a cross from the right-wing is cleared by his defence. Next another Newcastle cross, this time from the left is cleared once again by the Bradford defence. A corner is shown being defended by Bradford. The ball is challenged for and eventually breaks to the Bradford goalkeeper. One of the Newcastle players tries to charge the custodian, misses, and ends up in the goal, flat on his back. The Bradford players look at him accusingly as he gets to his feet. Switch to crowd craning to see the teams and the cup. The game having ended in a nil-nil draw. All male, wearing caps. The trophy, the third I history, was introduced for this final. Coincidentally, the firm who made the cup where situated in Bradford. The Bradford team assemble on the steps leading up to the presentation area. A man in a bowler hat shakes the captain by the hand. Lord Kinnaird can be seen sitting just behind the cup itself. The Bradford captain catches a football to hold. Despite what the commentator stets, I think this is the end of the drawn match at Crystal palace, and not the replay at Old Trafford, Manchester, where Bradford won 1-0.

noodls 2015-04-11The FA Cup Final, commonly referred to in England as just the Cup Final, is the last match in the Football Association Challenge Cup. With an official attendance of 89,826 at the 2007 FA Cup Final, it is the fourth best attended domestic club championship event in the world and the second most attended domestic football event. It is the culmination of a knockout competition among clubs belonging to The Football Association in England, although Scottish and Irish teams competed in the early years and Welsh teams regularly compete, with Cardiff City winning the Cup in 1927 and reaching the final in 2008.
Early FA Cup Finals were held at various venues including Fallowfield Stadium but were mainly in London. In the period from 1923 until 2000, the final was held at Wembley Stadium, English football's national stadium. From 2001–2005, the final was moved to Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, during the rebuilding of Wembley Stadium. Millennium Stadium was used again in 2006 due to construction delays in opening the new Wembley Stadium.
