The 1934 film was the first film to bring real critical success to its star Bette Davis. The film tells the story of a club-footed, sensitive artist Philip Carey (Leslie Howard), an Englishman who has been studying painting in Paris for four years, but is advised by his art teacher that his work is mediocre and second-rate, and that he lacks promise. So he returns to London, England to take up studies to become a medical doctor, but his older age and introspection make it difficult for him to keep up in his scholastic work. In England, he becomes infatuated - and then obsessed by a blonde, lower-class, slatternly and vulgar, Cockney-accented, illiterate tearoom waitress named Mildred Rogers (Bette Davis). He becomes preoccupied and smitten with her, even though she is disdainful of his club-foot and his obvious interest. Although he is attracted to the anemic and pale-faced woman, she is manipulative, repugnant, exploitative, two-timing, shrewish and cruel toward him when he expresses interest in going out. ANGELA LANSBURY introduces Bette at the 10th Kennedy Center Honors awards ceremony and you can tell that she loves Bette. Angela is so good at introducing and presenting people in such an enthusiastic manner. I just love her, and I think everybody else does too. Also, JESSICA TANDY, JIMMY STEWART, & HUME CRONYN read letters Bette had written to studio big-wigs, protesting their treatment of her. Also, a biography on screen and clips from her movies. By the way, for those who don't know, Tandy and Cronyn were married from 1942 until her death in 1994, at age 85. BETTE DAVIS had suffered four strokes before this appearance, which caused paralysis in the left side of her face and slurred speech. She loved being in the spotlight and nothing was going to stop her! A very determined and brave person, I would say. She died on October 6, 1989 at 81 years old. vistaestrada Angela Lansbury looks fantastic! YoungsterBette Thank you so much for uploading this! Made my night!

This is my tribute to the legendary Bette Davis. Everyone knows that she was a wonderful actress, but she was also sooo funny. The feud between her and Joan Crawford is in itself the stuff of Hollywood legend. "I wouldn't piss on that woman if she was on fire!" The stories she would tell near the end of her life were priceless. "I don't like Ms. Faye Dunaway....she is extremely unprofessional!! Along with some beautiful pictures of Ms. Davis is Anita O'Day's studio recording of "Angel Eyes". Enjoy!! Thanks For Your Comments.

Previously on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (Among other things): "I'm taking the dildo." "Kim, f— you." Not much happened in terms of the dramatics for the first ladies of the 90210. Eileen Davidson's husband, Vincent Van Patten, had a reading for a movie he wrote. Kim Richards played a poker player with a hand puppet of a snail or something, Lisa Vanderpump was somebody named Peanut. Kyle Richards and Lisa Rinna had parts too. While at Eileen's, Kim discussed her acting days and working with Bette Davis. Apparently she asked the legend if she wore a wig. To get further proof, she hid in Davis' dressing room to see her remove her wig. The more you know. CLICK: Previously on RHOBH... Brandi Glanville was sober, she announced a 21-day cleanse complete with yoga at Yolanda Foster's house. Later in the episode, Ken Todd planned a surprise party for Lisa V. with all ladies—including Brandi—in attendance. Lance Bass was there too! At the party, Lisa V. asked Brandi to sing for her and to apologize. Then Lisa V sang. Then Kim sang. Then Lisa Rinna. Then Kyle. Lyrics for the Lisa duet included, "We like pink and we like sex too." "The menopause mamas were fighting over the mic," Brandi said in her confessional about the random sing-along. CLICK: The Real Housewives of Melbourne are back! And of course throughout the episode, Lisa Rinna discussed Kim and the status of her sobriety with various ladies. "What is everyone so scared of? That is what I want to know," she said. "Why is everyone scared of Kim Richards?" Most of the ladies were adamant in staying hands off the situation. The only person who joined the Greek chorus with her was Eileen. Brandi discussed Kim with her friend/addiction specialist Jennifer Gimenez who was pretty succinct about what's going on regarding Kim and the night she took a pill of Monty's. "That's called relapsing," she said. "No one can save Kim but Kim." Next week: Amsterdam and a scavanger hunt! The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills airs Tuesdays, 9 p.m. on Bravo. (E! and Bravo are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)

Here's the second of four uncut episodes with original commercials that I started posting yesterday. As always, I preserved as much as possible of my original copy due to its much higher a/v quality. It takes away a bit of the sadness of watching the shows leading up to Dorothy Kilgallen's death to at least have these in complete form. This is a unique episode of WML in that the entire show is nothing but mystery guest rounds, a gimmick they never tried any other time. I'm sure Dorothy and Arlene were just delighted about having to wear masks through the whole show. . The Daily Beast 2015-03-25Ruth Elizabeth "Bette" Davis (April 5, 1908 – October 6, 1989) was an American actress of film, television and theater. Noted for her willingness to play unsympathetic characters, she was highly regarded for her performances in a range of film genres, from contemporary crime melodramas to historical and period films and occasional comedies, although her greatest successes were her roles in romantic dramas.
After appearing in Broadway plays, Davis moved to Hollywood in 1930, but her early films for Universal Studios were unsuccessful. She joined Warner Bros. in 1932 and established her career with several critically acclaimed performances. In 1937, she attempted to free herself from her contract and although she lost a well-publicized legal case, it marked the beginning of the most successful period of her career. Until the late 1940s, she was one of American cinema's most celebrated leading ladies, known for her forceful and intense style. Davis gained a reputation as a perfectionist who could be highly combative, and confrontations with studio executives, film directors and costars were often reported. Her forthright manner, clipped vocal style and ubiquitous cigarette contributed to a public persona which has often been imitated and satirized.
Wrong
Would it be wrong to kiss?
Seeing I feel like this
Would it be wrong to try?
Wrong
Would it be wrong to stay?
Here in your arms this way
Under this starry sky?
If it is wrong
Then why were you sent to me
Why am I content to be
With you forever?
So
When I need you so much
And I have waited so long
It must be right, it can't be wrong
If it is wrong
Then why were you sent to me
Why am I content to be
With you forever?
So
When I need you so much
And I have waited so long
It must be right, it can't be wrong
Oh Jerry, don't [Incomprehensible] ask for the moon
We have the stars
