C-SPAN (/ˈsiːspæn/), an acronym for Cable-Satellite Public Affairs Network, is an Americancable televisionnetwork that offers coverage of federal government proceedings and other public affairs programming via its three television channels (C-SPAN, C-SPAN2 and C-SPAN3), one radio station and a group of websites that provide streaming media and archives of C-SPAN programs. C-SPAN's television channels are available to over 100 million cable and satellite households within the United States, while WCSP-FM, also called C-SPAN Radio, is broadcast on FM radio in Washington, D.C., and is available throughout the U.S. on XM Satellite Radio, via Internet streaming, by telephoning 202-626-8888, and through an iPhone app.
The network televises U.S. political events, particularly live and gavel-to-gavel coverage of the U.S. Congress as well as occasional proceedings of the Canadian and British Parliaments and major events worldwide. Its coverage of political and policy events is unedited, thereby providing viewers (or listeners) with unfiltered information about politics and government. Non-political coverage includes: historical programming, programs dedicated to non-fiction books and interview programs with noteworthy individuals connected to public policy. C-SPAN is a non-profit organization, funded by a relatively small 6-cent per subscriber affiliate fee paid by its cable and satellite affiliates, and does not carry advertisements on any of its networks, radio stations or websites, nor does it ever solicit donations or pledges. The network operates independently, and neither the cable industry nor Congress has power over the content of its programming.
The term black people is used in some socially-based systems of racial classification for humans of a dark-skinnedphenotype, relative to other racial groups represented in a particular social context. Different societies apply different criteria regarding who is classified as "black", and often social variables such as class and socio-economic status also play a role, so that relatively dark-skinned people can be classified as white if they fulfill other social criteria of "whiteness" and relatively light-skinned people can be classified as black if they fulfill the social criteria for "blackness" in a particular setting.
As a biological phenotype being "black" is often associated with the very dark skin colors of some people who are classified as "black". But, particularly in the United States, the racial or ethnic classification also refers to people with all possible kinds of skin pigmentation from the darkest through to the very lightest skin colors, including albinos, if they are believed by others to have African ancestry, or to exhibit cultural traits associated with being "African-American". As a result, in the United States the term "black people" is not an indicator of skin color but of socially based racial classification.
Seth Rogen (pronounced /ˈroʊɡɪn/; born April 15, 1982) is a Canadian stand-up comedian, actor, producer, screenwriter, and voice artist. Rogen began his career doing stand-up comedy during his teen years, winning the Vancouver Amateur Comedy Contest in 1998. While still living in his native Vancouver, he landed a small part in Freaks and Geeks. Shortly after Rogen moved to Los Angeles for his role, Freaks and Geeks was canceled after one season due to poor ratings. He then got a part on the equally short-lived Undeclared, which also hired him as a staff writer.

On Tuesday (March 17) the Fresh Prince made a very special call to C-SPAN.
During a morning segment of Washington Journal, normally dedicated to discussing congressional

It takes a good 20 seconds before the station realizes the prank and disconnects the call.
The caller, who identifies himself on-air and on YouTube as Jack Strickland, states, “I just want to
make it clear I’m calling from Bel-Air but I’m originally from Philadelphia, specifically West
Philadelphia.” How did they not see that one coming!
Strickland continues his amazing monologue as “Iran Negotiations: How Much Influence Should Congress
Have?” displays on the screen.
“I was actually discussing this issue with a friend of mine recently when I was in Philly, it
occurred on a basketball court,” the caller says. “At some point during the conversation, a couple of
guys who were up to no good essentially started causing trouble in my neighborhood.”
He manages to sneak in one more line from the iconic ’90s theme song rap before the network cuts him
off and gets back to the business at hand. Host Pedro Echevarria doesn’t even break a smile.
You can watch the hilarious video above.
Add "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" impersonators to the growing list of bizarre C-SPAN callers.
During a segment on the Iran nuclear negotiations on Wednesday, a prank caller who identified himself
as Jack Strickland managed to recite about 20 seconds of the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" theme song
before the staff of C-SPAN’s "Washington Journal" caught on.
After noting that he was from West Philadelphia, Will Smith’s fictional home on the popular
television show, the caller dove into the recognizable parts of the song.
“I was actually discussing this issue with a friend of mine when I was in Philly, it occurred on a
basketball court. At some point during the conversation, a couple of guys who were up to no good
essentially started causing trouble in my neighborhood," the caller said.
"I got in one little fight and my mom got scared, and said ‘You’re moving in with your auntie and
uncle in Bel-Air,’” he continued.
C-SPAN then cut off the caller, but the prank did manage to get host Pedro Echevarria to crack a
smile.

Ann Hart Coulter (/ˈkoʊltər/; born December 8, 1961) is an American conservative social and political commentator, writer, syndicated columnist, and lawyer. She frequently appears on television, radio, and as a speaker at public and private events.
Coulter rose to prominence in the 1990s as an outspoken critic of the Clinton administration. Her first book concerned the Bill Clinton impeachment, and sprang from her experience writing legal briefs for Paula Jones's attorneys, as well as columns she wrote about the cases. Known for her unapologetic conservative political opinions and the controversial ways in which she presents and defends them, Coulter has described herself as a polemicist who likes to "stir up the pot", and does not "pretend to be impartial or balanced, as broadcasters do," sometimes drawing criticism from the right, as well as the left.
Coulter's syndicated column for Universal Press Syndicate began appearing in newspapers, and was featured on major conservative websites.
Coulter has also made frequent guest appearances on many television and radio talk shows, including American Morning, The Fifth Estate, Glenn Beck Program, The Mike Gallagher Show, The O'Reilly Factor, Real Time with Bill Maher, Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld, The Rush Limbaugh Show, The Sean Hannity Show, The Today Show, Lou Dobbs Tonight, Fox and Friends, The Laura Ingraham Show, The View, The Michael Medved Show, and HARDtalk.
Coulter is the author of ten books, many of which have appeared on the New York Times Best Seller list, with a combined 3 million copies sold as of May 2009.[30]
Coulter's first book, High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton, was published by Regnery Publishing in 1998 and made the New York Times Bestseller list.[2] It details Coulter's case for the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.
Her second book, Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right, published by Crown Forum in 2002, reached the number one spot on The New York Times non-fiction best seller list.[31] In Slander, Coulter argues that President George W. Bush was given unfair negative media coverage. The factual accuracy of Slander was called into question by then-comedian and author, and now Democratic U.S. Senator from Minnesota, Al Franken; he also accused her of citing passages out of context.[32] Others investigated these charges, and also raised questions about the book's accuracy and presentation of facts.[33][34][35] Coulter responded to criticisms in a column called "Answering My Critics".[36]
In her third book, Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism, also published by Crown Forum, she reexamines the 60-year history of the Cold War — including the career of Senator Joseph McCarthy, the Whittaker Chambers-Alger Hiss affair, and Ronald Reagan’s challenge to Mikhail Gorbachev to "tear down this wall"—and argues that liberals were wrong in their Cold War political analyses and policy decisions, and that McCarthy was correct about Soviet agents working for the U.S. government.[37] She also argues that the correct identification of Annie Lee Moss, among others, as communists was misreported by the liberal media.[38] Treason was published in 2003, and spent 13 weeks on the Best Seller list.[39]
Crown Forum published a collection of Coulter's columns in 2004 as her fourth book, How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must): The World According to Ann Coulter.[40]
Coulter's fifth book, published by Crown Forum in 2006, is Godless: The Church of Liberalism.[41] In it, she argues, first, that American liberalism rejects the idea of God and reviles people of faith, and second, that it bears all the attributes of a religion itself.[42] Godless debuted at number one on the New York Times Best Seller list.[43] Some passages in the book match portions of others' writings published at an earlier time (including newspaper articles and a Planned Parenthood document), leading John Barrie of ithenticate to assert that Coulter had engaged in "textbook plagiarism".[44]
Coulter's next books If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans (Crown Forum), published in October 2007, and Guilty: Liberal "Victims" and Their Assault on America (Crown Forum), published on January 6, 2009, both also achieved best-seller status.[45][46][47]
On June 7, 2011, Crown Forum published her eighth book Demonic: How the Liberal Mob Is Endangering America. Coulter said she based this book heavily on the work of French social psychologist Gustave Le Bon, who wrote on mass psychology, and in it she argues that liberals have mob-like characteristics.

All current or likely Republican presidential candidates were invited to take part in a “Voters First Republican Presidential Forum” on the campus of St. Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire. This event was the first opportunity to hear all of the 2016 Republican presidential candidates on one stage. The candidates appeared one at a time, answering questions determined by the editors of the Union Leader based on the topics suggested by the public. Senators Crux (R-TX), Paul (R-KY), and Rubio (R-FL) appeared via video link from Washington, D.C. Jack Heath moderated. Scott Walker: ‘I’d Love’ To Run as New and Fresh Vs Hillary or Biden

GOP face off in early-state forum is also a debate preview
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — The Republican Party's jam-packed presidential class faces off Monday night in New Hampshire, where more than a dozen White House hopefuls aim to warm up for the first full-fledged debate of the primary season.
The forum will bring together almost all of the 17 major Republican candidates for president for a debate-lite event, which unlike Thursday's nationally televised debate in Cleveland doesn't have a cut-off for participation.
"It's a great event because it has all the candidates on stage at the same time," said Steve Duprey, New Hampshire's representative to the Republican National Committee. "It treats all candidates equally."
In all, 14 Republican presidential candidates are scheduled to participate, a group that includes seven current or former governors, four senators, a businesswoman, a retired neurosurgeon and one former senator.
Billionaire businessman Donald Trump, who has dominated the GOP primary in recent weeks, is among the three major candidates who decided not to join.
The event will be broadcast live on C-SPAN and local television stations in Iowa and South Carolina — states that, along with New Hampshire, will host the first three contests in the presidential primary calendar next February.
Trump declined to attend the New Hampshire event, citing criticism from the local newspaper host, yet he is expected to play a prominent role in Thursday's formal debate, where only the GOP's top 10 candidates — as determined by national polls — will be allowed on stage.
The New Hampshire meeting comes amid new movement on politically charged issues.
Just hours before the 7 p.m. forum begins, the Senate is scheduled to vote on a GOP-backed bill to strip funding from Planned Parenthood, reviving a debate on social issues that some Republican officials hoped to avoid in 2016.
Three of the four senators participating in Monday's event — Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky — will do so via satellite from C-SPAN's Washington studio, so they don't miss the high-profile vote.
Also on Monday, President Barack Obama unveiled new emissions limits on power plants designed to address climate change, an issue that energizes conservatives and liberals alike.
The candidates will appear on stage one at a time Monday night, answering several questions each from local radio host Jack Heath. The questions are based on submissions from newspaper readers in New Hampshire, Iowa and South Carolina. Immigration and the economy emerged as the most popular topics in the reader submitted questions, said Trent Spiner, executive editor of the New Hampshire Union Leader.
As the candidates take turns on stage, their rivals will sit side-by-side in the audience. The format is different than the various forums the candidates have attended this year, when they give individual speeches and leave to speak to the press or greet voters instead of watching each other.
Spiner said the speaking order will be determined randomly.
Fourteen ping pong balls adorned with each candidate's face will be drawn from a jar one at a time to set the order. After the initial round of questions, all the candidates will return to the stage for several more specific questions, giving them a chance to distinguish themselves from the rest of the field, Spiner said.
A camera will be fixed on the line of candidates in the front row, offering viewers a chance to see how they are reacting to their opponents' messages.
Those on the bubble include South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, former technology executive Carly Fiorina, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Brian Lamb, Founder & Retired CEO, C-SPAN; Author, Sundays at Eight: 25 Years of Stories from C-SPAN’s Q&A; and Booknotes
Dr. Mary Marcy, President, Dominican University of California – Moderator
For the last 25 years, Sunday night at 8 p.m. on C-SPAN has been appointment television for many Americans. During that time, host Brian Lamb has invited people to his Capitol Hill studio for hour-long conversations about contemporary society and history. In today’s sound-bite culture, that hour remains one of television’s last vestiges of in-depth, civil conversation.
First came C-SPAN’s “Booknotes” in 1989, which by the time it ended in December 2004, was the longest-running author-interview program in American broadcast history. In January 2005, C-SPAN embarked on a new chapter with the launch of “Q&A.;” Again, one hour of uninterrupted conversation, but the focus was expanded to include documentary filmmakers, entrepreneurs, social workers, political leaders and just about anyone with a story to tell.
To mark this anniversary, Lamb and his team at C-SPAN have assembled Sundays at Eight, a collection of the best unpublished interviews and stories from the last 25 years. Told in the series’ signature conversational manner, these stories come to life again on the page. Sundays at Eight is not merely a token for fans of C-SPAN’s interview programs, but a collection of significant stories that have helped us understand the world for a quarter-century.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Prank Calls C-SPAN [VIDEO]
On Tuesday (March 17) the Fresh Prince made a very special call to C-SPAN.
During a morning segment of Washington Journal, normally dedicated to discussing congressional
affairs, a very devious caller recited the The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song in monologue form.

2016 Republican Presidential Debate 'Voters First' Forum
